Mixed Experiences with Gurney's - Proceed with Caution
As someone who loves gardening, I understand the excitement of ordering plants online. However, based on the reviews from various customers, Gurney's seems to have a mixed reputation. Some customers have had positive experiences with their products arriving in good condition and thriving, like the peach tree and roses. On the other hand, there are concerns about customer service and shipping issues, such as orders being delayed, items arriving damaged, and poor communication. It's essential to approach ordering from Gurney's with caution, considering the potential risks involved. While there are success stories, there are also instances of disappointment. If you decide to order from Gurney's, it might be wise to manage your expectations and be prepared for possible challenges along the way.
Dead tomatoes
My order was for seeds, seedlings, and fertilizer. Ordered in mid March, observed some seedlings were not available until mid April. Order arrived first week of May with 3 chocolate cherry tomatoes dead. Herbs suffered but are getting well. Big Beef tomatoes recieved in good shape and are doing well. Still to be sent is a packet of multi sweet peppers. All in all, first time ordering plants and likely will not order again and certainly not from a Northern nursery. I've since sowed some replacement tomato seeds and will endeavor to shop locally. My State Region is South Carolina. My sugestion is don't use US Postal System as my order was delivered 4 days later than first reported. I'm retired on fixed income with meager garden that keeps me busy. Likely, I could save more on good fresh food by buying from local groceries. By the by, I did plant the subject tomato plants just in case they could be refreshed or recover but no joy. Ray
Lack of Customer service response!
We put our order in over a month ago. I noticed that many of the items was backordered into June on at least 4 items. The site listed the dates that items would ship but this week all dates are gone! So I have no clue as to when I should expect them!
I've been emailing the company for close to two weeks now to get information on how to cancel backordered items. I've not received ANY response. Their website has a Cancel Order button so I filled it out but it states I cannot cancel due to "order been already shipped" which is not true & this is misleading. There is NO shipping or tracking information.
The order was for $189.90
It seems as if the business is ignoring customer concerns & just forcing them to accept their inability to fulfill orders. This was our second order with the company. Orders are split up & not sent until certain times. We ordered from another seed company last week & our order has already been shipped! Gurneys is not fulfilling their promise as a company & is misleading. We will not be using them again for fruits & vegetable seeds/plants.

Outstanding products
Well I have ordered seed from them and plants. I can tell you about the seed right now. The seeds I bought were Kale along with several others. I will say I love the Kale seeds they are extremely easy to grow. We had very delicious Kale this past season. I planted artichoke and they just popped right up. I planted Beets oh my goodness I love pickled Beets... well they came up just fine also. I have had seeds that are mixed with other seeds for whatever reason. I don't really care why they are mixed but I don't like it. I like planting and growing the seeds that I ordered and not different varietys of that seed. So Gurney's well let me tell you what I have absolutely no problem with them. I did think they had forgot to ship some plants but they I looked at the order status and they ship them out when the window is good for your state and also when the season is right also. I like that too. I like getting the things I am suppose to grow in the proper season to plant them. I prefer getting citrus trees in the warmer months. Well you know what I mean. Anyway I love their customer service also they are extremely helpful when you need them.
Disappointing Experience with Gurney's: Missing Plants, Dead Plants, and Recycled Tracking Numbers
I recently made a purchase from Gurney's for a 10 pack of bare root strawberries. Unfortunately, I only received one out of the ten that I ordered. I reached out to customer service and they informed me that they would issue a credit for the missing plants. I asked if they could just send me the other nine, but the representative seemed hesitant. Eventually, they agreed to send me the missing plants.
After planting the strawberries, they were thriving for a while, but then suddenly died. I contacted Gurney's again and they said they would mail out replacements. However, I received another email stating that they would not be sending the replacements and instead issued me two credits totaling $30. Unfortunately, I was unable to use the second credit as their website showed a zero balance. I contacted customer service again and they advised me to call them as the credit had to be applied manually to my order. However, I had already used the $20 credit for seeds and the remaining $10 was useless as anything I wanted was either out of stock or too expensive.
To make matters worse, the tracking number they provided me was recycled from someone else's order and showed that it was delivered in April to a different state than where I live. I contacted customer service again and they confirmed that the tracking number was indeed recycled.
Overall, my experience with Gurney's was disappointing and I will be using a different online nursery for any future orders. The shipping cost of $5.99 was reasonable, but the issues with missing plants, dead plants, and recycled tracking numbers made the whole experience not worth it.
Gurney's Plants Review: Terrible Shipping and Customer Service
I used to order from Gurney's a long time ago, so when I wanted to order some plants, I thought I'd give them another try. Boy, was that a mistake! I ordered two sets of strawberry plants, with ten plants in each set. I placed the order on May 28th, 2019, but it didn't get shipped until May 31st, 2019. That might not seem like a long time, but it's definitely not good enough. They sent the plants via FedEx SmartPost, and the estimated delivery time was June 11th, 2019. That's almost two weeks for live plants to be getting tossed around and sitting without any soil or water. The package sat in one location for four days without moving. Can you believe it? I messaged Gurney's to ask if the plants would be okay, but they didn't respond. I messaged them again the next day, and finally, on the following day, they responded with the usual customer service nonsense. Today, on June 11th, we finally received the package in a plastic bag. There was no box, no real protection from anything that might have banged or thrown on them. When I opened the package, I found that several of the green plant parts were broken from the roots. Some of the plants were still intact, but they were as dry as a bone. Thanks for taking such good care of people's hard-earned money, Gurney's. I will NEVER order from you again. You are no longer a trustworthy company. It's too bad.

I used to order from Gurney's a long time ago, and when I wanted to order some plants recently, I thought I'd give them another try. Big mistake. I ordered two sets of strawberry plants, with ten plants in each set. I placed the order on May 28th, 2019, but they didn't ship it until May 31st, 2019. That's not a huge amount of time, but it's definitely not good. They sent it via FedEx SmartPost, and the estimated delivery time was June 11th, 2019. That's right, almost two weeks for live plants to be getting thrashed around and sitting with no soil or water. The package sat in one location for four days, just sitting there doing nothing. Are you kidding me?

Gurney's Garden Center Review: Late Shipping, Poor Quality Plants, and Disappointing Customer Service
I put in an order for some tomato and pepper plants on Gurney's website in early April. I live in a place where it gets hot real quick, and I needed to get these plants in the ground as soon as possible. They told me that the plants were ready to ship and that I'd get them in two weeks max. But guess what? I just got the order today, nearly two months later!
The worst part is that they changed the shipping dates without even telling me. I read some other reviews where people had the same issue. When I reached out to their support team, they gave me some canned response and said they'd ship it right away. But that was weeks ago, and nothing happened. What a rush, huh? Now it's too late to plant anything.
And don't even get me started on the quality of the plants. They're downright awful. I paid a lot of money for these tiny plants that are clearly nutrient deficient. The leaves are yellow, and the stems are purple. One of the tomato plants was just a stick! How can a company ship something that's almost dead?
The roots were wrapped up in tight plastic, which probably starved them of air. When I finally unwrapped them, the dirt was dry as a bone. I'm surprised anything survived the mail in this heat. Maybe some of the plants will recover enough to plant in the fall, but I'm not holding my breath.
I'm never ordering from Gurney's again. The only reason I did was because they lied about the plants being ready to ship. It's a shame because I was really looking forward to having fresh tomatoes and peppers this summer.
Gurney's Disappointing Vines: A Waste of Time and Money
I ordered 2 vines from Gurney's back in March, a hardy Carolina Jasmine and a Hops vine nugget. I was really excited to receive them, but unfortunately, it didn't turn out as I expected. As it turned out, it was a complete waste of my time and money. In June, I received an email from Gurney's advising me that they didn't have the Jasmine for which I was given a refund. I was disappointed, but I thought at least I got my money back.
I received the hops vine in May, and it didn't look good, but I hoped it would grow. Unfortunately, it didn't grow at all. When I called customer service, I was advised that it was very slow growing and to wait a bit. I did further research after hanging up with customer service and read that it's a very fast-growing vine. I called back and spoke with another representative, and she offered me a credit, which I didn't want because I will NEVER order from them again. I asked for any other vine they have in stock, and the only thing they had was the hops vine, so she sent me a replacement.
I can't believe they sent out what they did, which was a dead twig in soil. I called customer service today asking for a supervisor and was advised someone would call me back. It's been 6 hours since my call, and no one has called me back. As an avid gardener, I have always found that from the many companies I have purchased soooooo many plants from lol, they always went out of their way to resolve any issues. NOT GURNEY'S...
I would advise anyone not to waste their money on Gurney's. They don't seem to care about their customers or the quality of their products. It's a shame because I was really looking forward to having these vines in my garden, but now I have to start all over again. I hope this review helps others avoid the same disappointment I experienced.
Gurney's Seeds Fail to Germinate, Resulting in Major Loss for Small Business Owner
I recently made a purchase from Gurney's, ordering a large packet of ruby red carrots to fulfill an order for two big restaurants that had previously purchased products from my small business. I was excited to plant the seeds on a rainy day and followed through with regular watering. Since this was a late summer planting with expected picking after early frost in October, I made sure to plant enough seeds to account for a 50% germination rate, which would still give me enough product to make the sales. However, after a few weeks, less than 1% of the seeds germinated! I was devastated and tried to find similar seeds from other companies, but to no avail.
I reached out to Gurney's customer service to communicate the problem, but all they offered was credit for future purchases. As a small business owner, this was not helpful at all. I had to contact the restaurants and they were not happy with the delay. With everything going on since Covid-19, they decided not to do any future business with my company. This was a huge loss for me, as each restaurant typically made an average purchase of $1,500. They were well-established and were going to spread the good reputation of my 6-year-old business. Unfortunately, because of the failings of Gurney's, I am now in a difficult position.
I shared with customer service the impact of these bad seeds, but all I received was a half-hearted apology and a suggestion to buy something else. I suggested a larger refund, but that went nowhere. I am extremely disappointed with Gurney's and will never do business with them again. Any catalog they send me will be used for firewood kindling. Good riddance!
Gurney's Nursery Review: Big Mistake Ordering from Them - Zero Stars!
Gardening is a real stress reliever for my boyfriend and he takes pride in what we plant every year. We usually order from Jung's, but Gurney's sent us their catalog earlier and had a huge coupon if we ordered early. My boyfriend has had a couple of jobs impacted by the pandemic, so we decided to take advantage of this coupon. BIG MISTAKE! First of all, they charged me immediately, so I expected that when it was the right time for our zone I'd get the whole order. I got part of it, a lot of seeds, and that was fine. My next shipment was for garlic and strawberry plants. We paid $5 for garlic and got ONE bulb. I could have gone to Kroger and paid 50 cents for the same thing. I paid $14.99 for a pack of strawberry plants. I got a bag of dirt with no sign of plants in it. Now, I am waiting for my blackberry plant. It was shipped on 4/22 by FedEx. No sign of it, and the FedEx tracker only lists it as IN TRANSIT. At this point, it will no doubt arrive dead and I will have to wage war with them to get a refund. I tried to cancel the rest of my order and they would not let me. It's for spinach and carrot seeds and it's going to be too warm to plant them soon. I ended up having to go buy plants at the local nursery, which will be my go to from now on. They had a lot better inventory, better prices and better customer service. I'll only order from Gurney's again if I am desperate or senile. If there were Zero stars as an option I would have selected it.
Gurney's Nursery Review: Unreliable Shipping and Poor Customer Service
I ordered some tomato plants from Gurney's in March and was told they would arrive by May 14. However, when that date came and went, I called several times to inquire about the status of my order. Each time, I was told that the plants were ready to be shipped, but the shipping estimate kept getting pushed back.
After a few more calls, I decided to cancel my order. But when I spoke to a representative, I was told that the plants had already been packaged and couldn't be canceled. I eventually spoke to a supervisor who promised that the plants would be shipped out the day after Memorial Day and would arrive within 2-3 days. She even offered to credit my credit card if they didn't arrive by Friday.
However, on Thursday, I received an email saying that a FedEx label had been created, and on Friday, I saw that the package had just been picked up. Unfortunately, it was going through FedEx Smartpost, which meant it would take another week to arrive.
When I called Gurney's to request the promised credit, the representative I spoke with was apologetic and embarrassed that I had been given incorrect information. He offered me a $10 merchandise credit, but refused to refund my credit card. Needless to say, I won't be ordering from them again.
If you're looking for a reliable nursery, I suggest ordering from Burpee or another company, even if it costs a little more. Trust me, it's worth it to save yourself the time and aggravation. Who knows if I'll even have any tomatoes this season!
Mixed Experience with Gurney's: Great for Seeds, Caution with Plants and Shipping Delays
Gurney's is a great place to order seeds and gardening supplies. They ship fast and have some serious discounts that are hard to pass up. I mean, who wouldn't want $100 off a $200 order? That's a deal that's hard to beat!
However, I recently had a bad experience with ordering plants and bare roots from them. In 2020 and 2021, Covid was causing some serious shipping delays, and I was patient and understanding. But when my plants finally arrived, they were either dead or mostly dead due to the scorching temperatures of high summer. I didn't bother to complain, but I won't be ordering plants or bare roots from them again.
To make matters worse, I recently ordered three items from them almost TWO MONTHS ago, and I still haven't received two of them. When I ordered, the site clearly showed that they were in stock and would be shipped within TWO WEEKS. But that didn't happen. I suspect they oversell items like an airline overbooks seats on a plane. The estimated shipment dates in their order confirmation email quietly pass by without any follow-up from them. Then they'll eventually ship out one item at least a month late, and the estimated dates for the remaining items in the shipping notification email for the first item will show that anywhere from two weeks to a month have been added on. Even those dates are likely to get pushed back further without any word from Gurney's.
I mean, can't their computer system track the past-due dates for the items they've sold and send out emails to the waiting customers to say, "Hey, we're sorry we're late. Here's the new estimated date. Would you like to keep waiting or request a refund?" But then that would invite people to do what is well within their rights to cancel massively overdue orders and not be strung along for months as the weather continues to get hotter and hotter.
Overall, I would recommend Gurney's for seeds and gardening supplies, but I would caution against ordering plants or bare roots from them. And if you do order from them, be prepared for some serious shipping delays and lack of communication.
Gurney's: Terrible Customer Service and Shipping Delays - Don't Waste Your Time and Money
I gotta say, I had a pretty rough experience with Gurney's. I was really excited to order some tomato and pepper plants on March 2nd, but boy was I disappointed when they didn't ship out on May 16th like they said they would. I called them up on May 13th to check on the delivery, and they told me it would ship out on May 17th. But when May 22nd rolled around and I still hadn't received my plants, I was pretty frustrated.
So I called them up again, and this time they told me that the shipping date was just an "estimate" and that it could be later. They didn't even bother to explain why it was delayed. The representative offered to make my order a "priority," but they couldn't tell me what that meant or when the order would actually ship. I asked to speak to someone in Indiana at company headquarters, but they told me I would have to call back during business hours the next day.
So I did call back the next day, but the representative told me he had no way to transfer my call to Indiana (he was in India) and that there was nothing he could do to help me. The supervisor couldn't help either, but he said he would email someone in Indiana to call me back in two hours. But guess what? No call back.
I called them again, and this time I talked to a supervisor who finally agreed to transfer me to a supervisor in the states. After about five minutes on hold, I finally spoke with someone in Indiana who couldn't tell me much more than the previous five people I had spoken with in India. She said that they had plenty of plants, but there was a "shipping problem" and they couldn't ship things out as fast as they wanted. They were stopping all shipments as of May 23rd because of the holiday weekend and would resume shipping on May 28th.
But get this: she couldn't tell me when or if the shipment would ever ship because they were "getting close to the end of their available shipping season" and it would be too hot to ship soon. I asked to speak to her supervisor, who told her to tell me that they couldn't guarantee that I would ever get the plants.
In the end, they did give me a refund, but I wasted so much time on the phone with them. I probably spent about two and a half hours just trying to get my plants. And let me tell you, the customer service in India is just terrible. They just read from a script and have no answers.
So, if you're thinking about ordering from Gurney's, I would strongly advise against it. You'll just end up wasting your time and being disappointed, just like I was.
Gurney's Complaints 21
LIARS!
Ordered tomato plants in March. The person I spoke with told me they would be here by May 14. Called several times when they weren't here yet to be told they were ready to be shipped. Kept getting emails with the shipping estimate getting longer. I finally called and told them to cancel the order. I was told that they were already packaged to and I couldn't cancel them. When I spoke to a supervisor I was told that they were going out the day after Memorial Day which would be Tuesday. She assured me that they would send them expedited shipping and I would have them in 2 to 3 days. She even told me that they would credit my credit card if I did not have them by Friday. On Thursday I finally received an email that a FedEx label had been created. On Friday I saw that the package had just been picked up. It was going FedEx Smartpost (through them to the regular post office) adding another week to the arrival date. I called Gurney's requesting the credit to my card as promised. The guy I spoke with told me he saw reports of my calls including promises of shipping dates as early as the 20th and he was embarrassed that the information I had been given was incorrect. He offered me a $10 merchandise credit, but refused the promised credit card refund. Like I'm going to order anything from them again. I'll be lucky if they arrive alive let alone have any tomatoes this season.
Save yourself time and aggravation. Order from Burpee or any other nursery even if it might cost a little more. You'll thank yourself later.
Did not send plants as ordered; horrible customre service
I ordered tomato and pepper plants on 3/2/19. I was told they would ship on 5/16/19. I called about 5/13/19 to check on delivery and was told they would ship 5/17/19. I waited until 5/22/19 and when I had still not received the plants, I called. I was told that the new ship date was 5/27/19 and that the shipping date was an "estimate", that it could be later. No explanation was given. The rep offered to make my order a "priority" but he couldn't tell me what that meant or when the order would ship. I asked to speak to someone in Indiana at company headquarters but said I would have to call back during business hours the next day. I did call back the next day and the rep told me he had no way to transfer my call to Indiana(he was in India) and nothing he could do to help me. Supervisor could not help either but said he would email someone in Indiana to call me back in 2 hours. Guess what, no call back. I called again. Talked to a supervisor who, after I fussed at him for several minutes, agreed to transfer me to supervisor in the states. Was about 5 minutes on hold and then did speak with someone in Indiana who could not tell me much more than the previous 5 people I had spoken with in India. She said that they had plenty of plants but there was a "shipping problem" and they couldn't ship things out as fast as they wanted. They were stopping all shipments as of today, 5/23/19, because of holiday weekend and would resume shipping 5/28/19. She could not tell me when or if the shipment would ever ship as they were "getting close to the end of their available shipping season" because it would be too hot to ship soon. I asked to speak to her supervisor who told her to tell me they could not guarantee that I would ever get the plants. They did give me a refund but now I've wasted all this time and still no plants for the garden. I probably spent 2.5 hours on the phone doing all this. The customer service in India is horrible-they just read from a script and have no answers. Don't order from this company. You'll be sorry you did, as I am.
Disappointing Experience with Gurney's Seeds and Plants: Poor Quality and Lost Shipments
I bought some seeds from Gurney's last year and everything went smoothly. This year, I decided to order some seeds and plants, including tomatoes, peppers, and herbs. Unfortunately, my seeds got lost in the mail and I had to wait for replacements, which arrived just in time for planting season. However, one of my pepper plants was out of stock and I received a refund. I also received a substitute tomato plant, but it arrived dead.
To make matters worse, two of my herbs arrived in poor condition and didn't survive, along with three of my tomato plants. The plants that did make it were small and weak, but I'm hoping they'll pull through. On top of all that, the first box of plants I received was carelessly thrown in the bushes halfway between the road and my house. Luckily, I found it before any damage was done.
I reached out to Gurney's for refunds on my dead plants, but I haven't heard back from them yet. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience and I won't be ordering from them again. It's unacceptable for them to sell such poor quality plants and get away with it.

Disappointing Experience with Gurney's: Dead Plants and Poor Customer Service
I recently made an order for some live tomato plants from Gurney's. I was pretty excited to receive them and get started on my gardening project. However, my excitement quickly turned into disappointment when I received my package. The plants were shipped via FedEx Smart Post and were supposed to arrive in just three days. But, to my dismay, they arrived 12 days later and were completely dead!
I immediately contacted Gurney's customer service to express my frustration. To my surprise, I was told that I had to wait 10 days to see if the plants were delivered because of some contract they have. I mean, seriously? Why would you ship live plants, especially delicate seedlings, knowing that they had 10 days to deliver them? It just doesn't make any sense to me.
To make matters worse, I had received a Gooseberry plant from Gurney's a few weeks prior to this order. It was delivered in just three days, but it was already dead when I received it. I called customer service and they offered me a "credit" voucher, but I declined. I wanted a full refund as stated in their "guarantee." Needless to say, I will never order from this company again.
What really bothers me is that no precautions were made to ensure that these plants stayed hydrated during shipping, especially with the knowledge that it could take up to 10 days for delivery. These were tiny, delicate seedlings that needed special care and attention. It's just unacceptable that they were shipped in such a careless manner.
And don't even get me started on the shipping cost! It was outrageous for them to be shipped via the cheapest version of FedEx. All in all, I was extremely disappointed with my experience with Gurney's and would not recommend them to anyone.
Gurney's Seeds: Misleading Shipping Dates and Poor Customer Service
I put my order in like a month ago, but it seems like a lot of the stuff I wanted is backordered until June. The website said when things would ship, but now all the dates are gone! I don't know when I'm gonna get my stuff now.
I've been emailing them for like two weeks now trying to cancel some of the backordered items, but they haven't responded at all. They have a button on their website to cancel orders, but when I tried to use it, it said I couldn't cancel because the order had already shipped. That's not true though, and it's really confusing. There's no shipping or tracking info anywhere.
I spent almost $190 on this order, and it seems like they don't care about their customers at all. This is the second time I've ordered from them, and they always split up the orders and send them at different times. I ordered from another seed company last week, and they already shipped my stuff! Gurneys is not keeping their promises and they're being really misleading. I don't think I'll be buying fruits and veggies from them again.
Mixed Experience with Gurney's: Late Delivery, Dead Plant, and High Shipping Costs
I bought a small plant from Gurney's and I gotta say, it was a bit of a mixed bag. The shipping was on time, but that's about the only good thing I can say. They used FedEx post, which is supposed to be cheaper, but it ended up being a real headache. The tracking info kept changing and my package took a weird journey before finally arriving a week later. And to top it off, the plant was dead when it got here. Not cool, man.
What's weird is that I also ordered from Chewy, and they shipped from the same town as Gurney's, but they used regular FedEx and my package arrived the next day. And get this - I ordered a 35 lb bag of dog food from Chewy and the delivery charge was less than what I paid for the 7oz plant from Gurney's. That's just crazy.
I sent an email to Gurney's to let them know what was up, but all I got was an automated reply with a case number. I was starting to think they didn't care, but then I got a reply and a gift certificate for the amount I spent. That was cool, but the lemon grass I originally wanted was out of stock, so I had to settle for a tomato plant in the same price range. I'm curious to see if it takes the same bizarre route as the first plant. I'll update when it arrives.
Poor Customer Service and Delayed Shipping from Gurney's: A Review
I done bought from Gurney's before and was real happy with the stuff I got. But this time, I placed an order in late March and they charged me right away. They said they'd ship it between March 30 and April 13, but it ain't come yet. I tried to get in touch with them, but it ain't easy. You gotta call them on your own dime 'cause they don't got no 800 number, or you gotta send them an email. The chat line on their website don't work neither.
I got two emails from them after I placed my order, but they was different. One said my order was confirmed and the other said I left something in my cart. So, I tried both ways to get in touch with them. I sent an email and it took them OVER A WEEK to get back to me. While I was waiting, I tried calling them. But the person I talked to was hard to hear and his English was tough to understand. He couldn't even answer my question.
So, don't be like me and mess with Gurney's.
Disappointing Experience with Gurneys: Poor Shipping and Customer Service
I've been buying plants from different catalogues for years now, and I thought I'd give Gurneys a try this year. I placed my order in February, right after I received their catalogue. However, when they were supposed to send me most of my order in May, I received a note saying that one of the items was not in stock. I wish they had told me that in February, so I could have ordered it elsewhere.
To make matters worse, they told us over a week before they shipped the order that we would have record-breaking heat the following week. Despite this warning, they sent the plants when it was over 90 degrees outside. The plants traveled for three days in that heat and arrived in terrible condition. Some of the plants were dead, while others were badly damaged. In the past, I've received plants from other farms that were nicely developed and around 10 inches tall. However, the plants I received from Gurneys were only 2 to 4 inches tall and in terrible condition. The only exception was the Rosemary, which was taller.
When I called to complain and ask for replacement plants, I had to spend an hour with an agent going over numbers many times. It was frustrating, but I hope they send the replacements this week since the weather is cooler now.
Overall, I'm extremely disappointed with my experience with Gurneys. I emailed them about my concerns, but I never received a response. When I called again about something else, I had the same problem with the agent. I don't think I'll be buying from them again.
Disappointing Experience with Gurney's Seeds and Trees: Late Delivery, Poor Quality, and No Instructions
I done ordered a bunch of seeds, trees, and pepper plants from Gurney's back in December. They said they'd ship 'em out by early spring, but most of 'em didn't come until way later. The seeds were okay, but the pepper plants were a disaster. They finally showed up in May, all wrapped up in plastic, and they were brown and dry as a bone. I planted 'em anyways, but they ain't never come back to life. Then the trees were back ordered a bunch of times, and it's already June before they finally got here. And when they did, they were just 8 sticks all wrapped up together in plastic with no labels or leaves. They didn't even have no dirt on 'em! They just looked like a bunch of sticks with almost no roots. And there weren't no instructions for planting in the box, just an email saying to watch some video online. Like I got time for that! I ain't never buying from Gurney's again. We done got over 30 trees and 100 shrubs from other companies in the past couple years, and they all been way better than this mess from Gurney's.
Disappointing Experience with Gurney's: Dead Plants, Poor Customer Service, and a Waste of Money
So, I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed with Gurney's. I mean, I put in my order way back in February, and I didn't even get everything until October 8th! And when I finally did get everything, it was a mess. The strawberry crowns were mostly dead on arrival - I mean, I got 70 of them, and 60 were completely DOA. And the other stuff I got wasn't much better. The blueberry and huckleberry bushes were puny and sad-looking, and the raspberry plant looked like it was diseased or something.
When I tried to reach out to Gurney's about this, I didn't get much help. They just sent me a generic email about plants being stressed during shipping, which I know isn't the case here. I've been gardening for over a decade, and I can tell the difference between a stressed plant and a dead one. I even sent them pictures of the dead strawberry crowns, but I never heard back from them.
All in all, I spent about $100 on this order, and I feel like I got ripped off. I mean, I got a scraggly blueberry bush, a tiny huckleberry bush, three sad raspberry runners, a diseased raspberry plant, and only ten strawberry crowns that were actually alive. It's just not worth it, you know? And I've been telling all my gardening buddies about my experience, so I doubt they'll be ordering from Gurney's anytime soon either.
Disappointing Experience with Gurney's: Delayed Shipping and Incomplete Order
I remember the day I placed my order on Gurney's website like it was yesterday. The sun was shining bright and the birds were chirping. I was thrilled to start my garden and their website had a great selection of products. I spent a good amount of time browsing and carefully selecting around 23 items, spending a total of $136.
At first, everything seemed to be going smoothly. I received an email confirmation of my order and was given an estimated delivery date. However, as the days turned into weeks, I started to become concerned. Only a few items had been shipped, and when I checked the status of the rest, they were still listed as "in stock and ready to ship."
I contacted the company several times, but each time I was given the same generic response that my order would be shipped soon. But it never was. Finally, I had enough and decided to cancel my order. It was the first week of May and I couldn't wait any longer.
When I asked for a refund, they only refunded me $75, even though I had paid $136 for the order. I felt cheated and scammed by this company. It was a disappointing experience, to say the least. I would not recommend them to anyone and advise others to avoid them at all costs.
Gurney's Review: Disappointing 2 in 1 Asian Pear Tree & Poor Customer Service
I gotta say, Gurney's is a real disappointment. I ordered one of their 2 in 1 Asian pear trees and boy was I in for a surprise when it arrived as a bareroot. They didn't even bother to mention that in the product description! I followed their planting instructions as best I could, but the tree was so dirty when it arrived that I had to take pictures just to prove it. I mean, come on, Gurney's, clean your trees before you ship them out!
When I called to complain, it took forever to get through to someone who could help me. I had to email them several times before I finally got a response. And when I did, they told me that my tree was definitely a 2 in 1, even though it didn't look like it to me. They pointed to a tiny bump on the trunk and said that was the graft. I mean, seriously? I'm no expert, but that didn't look like a graft to me.
To make matters worse, they promised that the tree would produce fruit in a year or two. Well, it's been three years now and I haven't seen a single flower or fruit. And that so-called graft? It's still just a bump on the trunk. I guess it's no surprise that their warranty only lasts for one year. They took my money and ran, laughing all the way to the bank.
And don't even get me started on the seeds I bought from them at the same time. None of them germinated, not a single one. What a waste of money!
All in all, I wouldn't recommend Gurney's to anyone. They're nothing but a bunch of friggin scammers. Save your money and buy from a more reputable company.
Multiple trash plants received. Wont honor certificates over the phone!
Gurneys is truly a pathetic company! Multiple trash plants that never took even following their directions for planting and using quality dirt as well as their nutrients. What a waste of money.
They will then send you a certificate that's short for what you purchased saying I bought my items on sale and the sale is over so instead of getting say 18 trees replaced I get 12 trees with the replacement certificate. Then, On top of that, they will not honor the certificates because they sent one order to collections I never paid because the plants do not grow! So I'm out hundreds of dollars and the slime balls still expect a payment for the minimal unpaid bill. Total piss poor customer service and product!
Desired outcome: Accept the certificates they sent me and then go to hell!
hardy sweet lavender
Received these plants and they were immediately planted. Waited...and waited...and nothing came up. We have had rain so water was present. First time and last time I will order from this company. With nothing to show for HARDY SWEET LAVENDER, I just wanted my cost back but no, a replacement certificate was all they have to offer...
My $24 is gone...and zero to show for it...my 1st and last time to order...inferior products...now only will order from locals...June 2019...and they think I want to order more INFERIOR PRODUCTS and wait...and wait for something to grow...what a joke these folks are...do not order...do not waster your dollars...
blueberry ka-bluey (r) (ppaf) jumbo 59-02-a-04 item #72333
I paid $49.99 for this blueberry plant and it was not the quality I expected from Gurney's, especially for that price. The tiny spindly little branches are only about 8 to 10"tall and half of them are dark brown. It is not as healthy as the Jubilee Blueberry that was delivered with it for $29.99.
I am very disappointed with this plant. I purchased it on March 22, 2019 and delivered Thursday May 1, 2019. Both blueberry plants had broken branches. But the Jubilee looks very healthy with green branches and even has blossoms.
shipping
Placed and order about a month ago. First partial shipment was wrong item. Following shipment was shipped to the local po whitch is closed over the weekend. I directly sent a note to fedex making them aware of this posible issue. After contacting the company they told me the live plants were sitting in the po which I made excatly clear not to let this happen. I will go monday and get the unwatered neglectled live plant out of po prison. I will never used this bunch of brainless company again. If I could rate this transaction I would give it a minus 10

I ordered a dwarf meyer lemon & dwarf cleopatra mandarin tree that arrived in poor condition. they looked dead right from the start. I tried to bring them back to life without success & finally threw them away. I was going to just write it off as a bad purchase but would like to have them replaced with new, healthy ones.
rootstock & refund
Bottom line: poor quality product shipped, in Spring when plants grew, turned out to be wrong plants, NOT what had been ordered. After promising full and complete refund and no refund arriving and eventually a partial credit offered then a full refund again promised, a refund of 25% arrived.
Complained and was told it was MY FAULT.
Worst, I was refused conversation with accounting and management.
They totally and completely blew me off.
NEVER AGAIN!
bad packaging
I have ordered from this company about two months ago and just received my plans. I have purchased several tomato and cucumber plants. Cucumbers were ok, but tomato's were completely dead because packaging was very poor and it seems like they really did not care. I'm very disappointed that I have wasted my money and was treated so unprofessionally! I don't recommend Gurney's !
