Gumtree.com.au: Unexplained Account Restrictions and Lack of Transparency - A Disgraceful Experience
These blokes at Gumtree.com.au have gone and restricted my account out of the blue, without even bothering to explain why. It's a real joke, mate. I haven't done a single thing wrong, and they're treating me like some kind of criminal.
Now, here's the thing, this company is owned by SCAMBAY, also known as Ebay. And let me tell you, that explains a lot. They couldn't care less about professionalism or engaging with the Australian community. All they care about is making a quick buck and manipulating marketplaces in other countries, without even paying a cent in taxes. Greedy capitalists, that's what they are.
And get this, on 18 April 2020, they pulled the same stunt with my missus. Can you believe it? I've been trying to get some answers from these clowns, but all I get is silence. So, I've decided to take matters into my own hands and contact our Local MP. Maybe they can do something about this mess, because Gumtree.com.au sure as hell can't provide any evidence or reason for shutting down our accounts.
But you know what really gets my goat? These censors at Gumtree.com.au seem to think we're living in communist China or something. Well, newsflash, we're not! We have the right to express ourselves and use online platforms without being treated like criminals. It's a bloody disgrace, if you ask me.
So, if you're thinking about using Gumtree.com.au, think twice. They might just pull the rug out from under you for no good reason. And trust me, you don't want to deal with these dodgy blokes. Stick to local classifieds or find yourself a better online marketplace. Don't waste your time with these clowns.
Unjust Account Restrictions and Lack of Transparency: Gumtree.com.au's Troubling Actions
These blokes at Gumtree.com.au have gone and restricted my account out of the blue, without even bothering to explain why. It's a real pathetic move, I tell ya, 'cause I haven't done a single thing wrong.
Now, here's the thing, this company is owned by SCAMBAY, also known as Ebay. And let me tell ya, that explains a lot about their lack of professionalism and engagement with the Aussie community. These greedy capitalists are tryin' to manipulate marketplaces in other countries without payin' a single cent of taxes. Can ya believe it?
And get this, on April 18, 2020, they went ahead and did the exact same thing to my missus. I reckon it's about time I reach out to our Local MP to sort this mess out. 'Cause let me tell ya, this website hasn't been able to provide any evidence or reason for closin' our accounts, no matter how many times I've asked 'em to clarify.
But here's the kicker, these censors at Gumtree.com.au seem to forget that we ain't livin' in communist China just yet. We still have the right to speak up and demand some answers. So, let's see how they handle a good ol' Aussie fight for justice.
Gumtree's Premium 60 Program: A Costly Mistake and a Battle for Refunds
We got this little car dealership, right? And we thought, "Hey, let's advertise our used cars on Gumtree's fancy Premium 60 program." Seemed like a good idea at the time. But boy, were we in for a surprise!
Gumtree, bless their hearts, went ahead and charged us a whopping $2,778.60 extra over a span of five months. Can you believe it? And you know why? Because they messed up big time. They included brand spanking new cars in the count of vehicles being advertised as used. Talk about a major oopsie!
Now, we've been hounding Gumtree since July 2018 to get this mess sorted out. They did give us some credits for most of the months, but there's this one stubborn month where they refuse to show us any proof of the charges. And to top it all off, they haven't given us a single refund. Not one!
So, guess what? We're taking this matter to QCAT. Yeah, we're gonna fight tooth and nail to get back our hard-earned money, plus some extra for all the trouble they've caused us. We're talking overpayments, penalty interest, and administrative charges, baby!
Let me tell you, it's gonna be quite the showdown. We're curious to see if QCAT will see through Gumtree's shenanigans. Are they gonna find them guilty of gouging, misleading and deceptive behavior, and breaking our contract? Only time will tell.
But hey, consider this a friendly warning from us to you. Be super careful when you're dealing with this business. They might seem all shiny and professional, but don't let that fool you. We learned the hard way, and we don't want you to go through the same headache. Stay on your toes, folks!
Disappointing Gumtree Encounters: No Replies, No Show, and Dog Attacks
I was on the hunt for a particular item, you know, something specific. So, I stumbled upon this ad on Gumtree, Ad 1 to be exact. I thought, "Hey, why not shoot the vendor a message and see what happens?" Well, let me tell you, disappointment struck when I received no reply. I mean, come on, is it really too much to ask for a simple, short reply? Guess so.
Undeterred, I moved on to Ad 2. This time, I managed to set up an appointment with the vendor. But guess what? When the appointed time rolled around, the vendor was nowhere to be found. They had the audacity to claim they were "out the back," even though we rang the bell, knocked loudly multiple times, and even shouted out for them. Seriously, what a letdown.
Now, let's talk about Ad 3. Oh boy, this one was a real adventure. So, we arrived at the designated time and place, all ready to seal the deal. But what do we find? Two massive, ferocious dogs in the garden. And let me tell you, these beasts wasted no time in launching an attack. Thank goodness for that gate and dilapidated fence, or else we would have been in serious trouble. Note to self: maybe next time, I should think twice before entering a dog-infested garden.
But wait, it gets even better. The owner, who seemed to have zero control over these wild animals, claimed to have locked them away in the house. So, with a glimmer of hope, we cautiously entered through the front gate. And what happens? You guessed it, the dogs attacked again! Turns out, they weren't locked away at all. Talk about a false sense of security.
In a panic, we sprinted back to our car and managed to escape the clutches of those vicious canines. And wouldn't you know it, the owner had the nerve to call my mobile and express surprise that we wouldn't return. Seriously, dude? After all that chaos, you really expected us to come back? No way.
To top it all off, each journey to these disappointing encounters took us over 40 minutes each way. I mean, seriously, that's a lot of wasted time and effort. At this point, it would have been easier to just head to a regular ol' shop and buy the item brand new. Lesson learned, I suppose.
Oh, and by the way, it's such a shame that Gumtree doesn't allow negative star ratings. Because if they did, you can bet your bottom dollar that this experience would have earned a big fat zero stars from me.
Gumtree.com.au: A Disaster of Customer Support and Ad Management
Geez, let me tell you, Gumtree.com.au is an absolute disaster. I mean, I posted this ad like four days ago, right? And guess what? When I checked my ad manager yesterday, it was like it never even existed. No message, no explanation, nothing! And to top it all off, they took my money!
So, I thought, okay, let me try to get in touch with these guys. But of course, their so-called "live chat" was a total joke. I couldn't connect with anyone, no matter how hard I tried.
But you know what? I didn't give up. I decided to give it another shot and put up another ad. And guess what happened? Yup, you guessed it. Nothing! Absolutely nothing! And I had to pay for that ad too!
Finally, after what felt like forever, I managed to get in touch with someone through their live chat. But you know what they did? They sent me a link to their "terms of use" page! Can you believe it? I kept asking them why they didn't bother to tell me that my ad got canceled, but they just couldn't understand my question. All they could do was keep pointing me to that darn "terms of use" page.
Let me tell you, Gumtree's customer support is a new level of awful. I swear, even my 90-year-old grandma could do a better job than them. They're completely useless, I tell ya.
Gumtree: A Scam with Shady Characters and Exorbitant Prices!
NEVER USE GUMTREE!
I paid a pretty penny for an expensive unlimited premium listing, thinking it would surely lead to a sale. But lo and behold, two whole months went by and not a single buyer came knocking. And to add insult to injury, without any warning or refund, Gumtree up and removed my UNLIMITED listing.
According to Gumtree, my listing didn't meet their oh-so-important terms and conditions. But here's the kicker: when I created the listing and made some edits, it just sat there, pending approval from the Gumtree gods. So apparently, someone over at Gumtree isn't doing their job properly. They approved my listing, even though it supposedly violated their precious guidelines.
Instead of thoroughly checking my listing and rejecting it from the get-go, they let it slide, took my hard-earned cash, and then snatched it away like a thief in the night!
What a scam! I've had enough and have lodged a complaint with consumer affairs.
Let me tell you, Gumtree is the worst place to sell anything. You won't get any genuine inquiries, and forget about making a sale. All you'll find is a bunch of spam and scam buyers, lurking around like vultures.
And let's not forget about the exorbitant prices they charge. It's an absolute rip-off and a colossal waste of time!
You know what's better? Facebook. It's free to sell there, and you don't have to deal with all these shady characters. At least on Facebook, you're dealing with real-life people!
I give Gumtree a big fat zero out of five. It's just plain terrible.
Frustrated with Gumtree's Unfair Deletion and Poor Customer Support
My second ad ever on Gumtree, and it's been a while since I last posted one. Gumtree.com.au went ahead and deleted my ad for no good reason. I mean, seriously, what's the deal? The content of my ad was pretty much the same as other sellers, so I don't see why they had to go and delete it. Even the support team I chatted with agreed with me - they couldn't find any reason for the deletion either.
So, a couple of days ago, they tell me I need to provide proof of purchase for the item I posted in the ad. On top of that, they want a new picture to prove that I actually have the item. This was the third time I had to follow up with the Gumtree support team. I mean, come on, how many times do I have to go through this? Anyway, I provided the proof and the picture, and they tell me that the review team will get back to me within 24 hours, or maybe 48 hours at the latest.
But guess what? No feedback today. So, I decide to contact the support team again, hoping to get some answers. And what do they tell me? The feedback still ain't available, and all they can do is escalate the issue once more. Like, seriously, how much longer do I have to wait?
Let me tell you, the ad I posted was for a discontinued set of Lego. It was a simple and straightforward ad, nothing fancy. But the amount of time I've had to spend on these follow-ups is just ridiculous. I am beyond disappointed and frustrated with how Gumtree has handled my case. I mean, we all have busy lives, and our time is valuable. Nobody deserves to be treated like this. I can tell you one thing for sure - I won't be trusting Gumtree again. They've lost my trust, that's for sure.
Gumtree's False Promises and Delayed Refunds: A Warning for Advertisers
Two weeks ago, I shelled out nearly $100 for what they call "top ads" and "home gallery ads" on Gumtree.com.au. Let me tell you, neither of these options lives up to their fancy names. The so-called "home gallery ad" is nowhere to be found on their home page!
As soon as I realized this, I wasted no time in sending them a cancellation request. I mean, it hadn't even been half an hour since I made the purchase! I spoke to a person named Hope, who assured me that I would receive a refund within 3-5 working days. So, I patiently waited over the weekend, but when the 5th working day came and went without any sign of my money, I decided to reach out to them again. This time, I chatted with a guy named Ben.
Ben took down all the necessary details and informed me that he would contact the manager, as apparently, only managers have the power to process refunds. I asked him how much longer I had to wait, and he casually mentioned that it usually takes 1-2 days for them to sort it out. He promised that they would send me an email once the refund was processed.
Now, being a reasonable person, I thought that by late Friday, everything would be sorted. But guess what? Nothing happened. I waited through the second weekend, and now it's Tuesday, just one day shy of two weeks since I made the initial payment. And what do I have to show for it? No refund and no email.
It's pretty obvious that they're intentionally dragging their feet here. I mean, come on, it only takes one click to issue a refund! I hope this serves as a wake-up call for anyone thinking about placing paid ads on Gumtree. Don't be fooled by their promises, and be prepared for a difficult refund process filled with empty assurances and endless delays.
Yesterday, I warned them that I would start writing honest reviews about my experience. It's their choice to let that happen instead of doing the right thing by me.
And Gumtree, don't you dare respond to me with a generic "please contact customer service" message. I've been doing just that almost every single day! Besides the chats, I even sent them an email through their customer service contact, and guess what? No reply!
Let me make it clear, Gumtree, I won't give up until I get my money back. So, the sooner you take action, the less damage you'll do to your reputation.
Terrible Experience with Gumtree: Paid for Ad Bump-Up, Ad Disappeared, and Terrible Customer Service
I paid to have my Ad bumped up but not only did it not get bumped up, but it DISAPPEARED altogether. I eventually got on to a Gumtree agent on "live chat" who at first denied there was a problem and then confirmed there was one. He couldn't fix the problem, so he forwarded the complaint to the "tech department".
48 hours and lots of emails later, I got an email from some simpleton who said there was no problem and that there never was one. I tried to email back, but there was NO response. My emails to Gumtree are ignored, and the live chat agents disconnect as soon as they read the complaint. It must be too hard for the simpletons to rectify.
To this day, the ad does not come up when searching for the vehicle. Gumtree has left a foul taste in my mouth, and I will now be canning them every chance I get to everyone who will listen! I would give a negative star rating if I could. This review is just the start!
Review: Frustrating Experience with Gumtree.com.au - Manipulation, Misleading Messages, and Lack of Transparency
I'm currently in downtown Sydney for a few months and wanted to share my experience with fellow travelers. Finding internet access in the city is easy, but using gumtree.com.au to post an ad is a whole different story. I've spent countless hours trying to sell my personal items through this site, and let me tell you, it's been quite the struggle.
After carefully crafting my ad, I eagerly clicked the submit button, hoping it would go live and catch the attention of potential buyers. To my surprise, a message appeared on the screen, informing me that I needed to activate my ad. So, I promptly opened my email and clicked on the link sent to me by gumtree.com.au.
But guess what? Another message popped up, stating that my ad was already activated and that the activation process I just went through was completely unnecessary. I felt like a fool, but at least I was relieved to know that my ad was indeed active (although I have no idea who activated it for me). I figured I could just sit back and wait for calls and emails from interested shoppers.
A day went by, but no one reached out to me. Frustrated, I returned to the site to search for my own ad. To my dismay, I couldn't find it anywhere. I felt like a fool once again. It seemed that my ad had never been published at all. Instead, it was probably lurking somewhere in gumtree's internal system, hidden from the eyes of potential buyers.
Feeling extremely frustrated with this whole ordeal, I decided to voice my complaint to the site by creating a "ticket" through their self-made complaint system (which, mind you, is not an independent review platform).
I checked back a day later, only to find that my complaint ticket had been deleted. In its place was a message that read, "Error: You have been locked out of the system for 60 minutes due to too many login failures." This message was completely false and misleading. I hadn't even attempted to log in to gumtree.com.au, let alone fail at it. In fact, there was no need for any login process when submitting a complaint ticket.
Undeterred, I decided to create another complaint ticket. This time, I received a response from someone on the site's staff. They informed me that my ad had never gone live (which I wish I had been told earlier). According to them, they usually notify sellers when their ads are deleted by a gumtree staff member. However, since they found nothing wrong with my ad, they hadn't felt the need to inform me. They then revealed that their "ip screening" system was responsible for the mistake, causing countless unsuspecting sellers to be mistakenly flagged as spammers.
Prior to using this site, I had believed it to be a fair marketplace. However, it turned out to be something entirely different. It is heavily manipulated and intentionally misleads users with a series of false messages. These messages seem designed to shift the blame onto unsuspecting users, wasting their valuable time and causing frustration.
I wanted to respond to the staff's reply and ask for further clarification on certain points. However, when I revisited the complaint ticket, the entire conversation, including my original letter and the staff's response, had mysteriously disappeared.
Gumtree.com.au goes out of its way to remind users that they are fully responsible for their ads. However, this self-responsibility policy contradicts the heavy-handed manipulation, misleading messages, and lack of transparency that I experienced on the site.

Warning: Gumtree Took My Money and Deleted My Ad Without Explanation!
I've been using Gumtree for a long time to buy and sell stuff. Recently, I decided to pay extra to have my product highlighted and appear at the top of the search results. But guess what? They took my money and deleted my ad without even bothering to explain why. I tried reaching out to them multiple times, but they didn't have the courtesy to contact me back and clarify why my account was restricted. I'm really angry about this and I've made up my mind to switch to another website for buying and selling. I want to warn everyone out there to be careful and not waste their money by paying for ads on Gumtree. They might just take your money and delete your ad without any explanation.
Gumtree.com.au: A Decent Website for Buying and Selling in Australia
Gumtree.com.au is a pretty decent website for Aussies who want to sell or buy stuff. I usually give it a look-see once a week to find people selling things at a reasonable price in my neck of the woods. And I gotta say, about 90% of the things I've bought from there have turned out pretty good.
Now, when it comes to selling, you might come across a few tire kickers. You know, those folks who are just wasting your time and not serious about buying. And let me tell you, it can get pretty annoying when you start getting messages from other users who aren't really interested in buying either. It's like, why bother, right?
But hey, when it comes to buying, I've only had a couple of issues. Sometimes the seller changes their mind and decides not to sell anymore. Or maybe they get a better offer from someone else. It's a bummer, but it happens. Apart from those hiccups, I'd say Gumtree is a great place to give a shot. You never know, you might just score yourself a sweet deal or two.
So yeah, if you're in the market for some second-hand goodies or looking to make a few bucks by selling your stuff, give Gumtree a whirl. It's worth a shot, mate.
Lack of Communication and Frustration: My Experience with Gumtree's Ad Posting
I recently had a super urgent situation where I needed to post an ad for my boat on Gumtree.com.au. I was relieved when I received a message confirming that my ad would be active within a few hours. However, that's where the communication ended. I didn't hear anything else from Gumtree, and unfortunately, I discovered much later that my ad was never actually posted.
Now, here's the kicker: I posted the ad from overseas, but the boat and the contact were both in Australia. You would think that Gumtree could at least send an automated message to let me know that there was a problem. It's not rocket science, right? I mean, come on, guys! It's frustrating that they couldn't make the effort to inform me about the issue and give me a chance to make alternative arrangements.
It's disappointing when a platform like Gumtree, which is supposed to make our lives easier, falls short in such a basic aspect. I understand that mistakes happen, but a little bit of communication goes a long way. It would have saved me a lot of time and hassle if they had just let me know that my ad couldn't be posted due to my location.
In the end, I had to find another way to advertise my boat, which was a major inconvenience. I hope Gumtree can improve their system and provide better communication to their users, especially in urgent situations like mine. It's the least they can do to ensure a smoother experience for everyone involved.

Terrible Experience with Gumtree: Unfair Treatment and Lack of Consequences for Scammers
I recently had a look on Gumtree to find a removalist. I came across this guy who claimed to be a family business and had been doing this for 15 years. But let me tell you, he was the worst removalist I've ever dealt with. His name was Mike and he operated in the Penrith and Castle Hill areas.
I decided to write a review about my terrible experience and even tried to advertise his awful removal service on Gumtree. But guess what? They quickly took down my ad. I couldn't believe it! I wrote back to them, expressing my frustration and asking where the justice was. This guy was a total rip-off artist, and it seemed like Gumtree didn't care at all. They just let these scammers get away with ripping off innocent people without any consequences.
I gotta say, I really hate Gumtree now. It's just not fair that they allow these bums to take advantage of unsuspecting folks like me. It's a shame, really. I thought Gumtree was a reliable platform, but now I know better. I won't be using it again, that's for sure.

Gumtree's Support and Ad Placement: A Frustrating Experience for Small Businesses
We've been trying to kickstart our business selling LED lights and high-tech battery packs, mate. It's been a few months now since we chucked an ad up on Gumtree (GT) offering to give away one of our top-notch LED lamps, valued at a solid $19.95. But let me tell ya, finding our ad in the midst of all them dodgy scammers is like searching for a needle in a haystack, I reckon. And when we reached out to their so-called "support," all we got was a canned response telling us to cough up some cash for an ad. Fair dinkum, they want us to pay 'em just to give away a lamp that runs on thin air, mate! It don't use a lick of electricity (well, maybe 'round 2 cents every 24 hours, but who's counting?). Are they havin' a laugh or what? From where I'm sittin', it seems like GT is all about funneling ads straight to eBay, if ya ask me.
Gumtree's Mislabeling Issue: Items Marked as FREE Without Consent
I've been sellin' stuff on Gumtree for over 4 years now, and I gotta say, I've had pretty good luck sellin' things regularly. Sometimes though, when my items ain't sellin' as fast as I'd like 'em to, I've paid some money to bump 'em up and make 'em stand out. It's been workin' fine for me, until yesterday that is. Outta nowhere, Gumtree goes ahead and marks one of my items as FREE! Can ya believe it? And that ain't all, a few months back, they even marked my home as FREE without me knowin'! Can ya imagine the confusion that caused? People were hittin' me up left and right, thinkin' I was givin' away my house or somethin'. And just yesterday, they did it again with a brand new GUESS handbag I was tryin' to sell. They marked it as FREE! What the actual heck is goin' on here? I ain't never given away nothin' for free on Gumtree, and if ya wanna do that, ya gotta tick the free box. But I sure as heck didn't do that!
Frustrating Experience with Gumtree: Lack of Explanation for Cancelled Ads
I recently had an experience with Gumtree.com.au where I attempted to post two ads. However, to my disappointment, both of them were abruptly cancelled without any sort of explanation. It was quite frustrating as I was left wondering what went wrong and had to come up with various possibilities on my own.
I have a suggestion for the Gumtree IT team: why not utilize auto correct to generate a standard response to the email associated with the account? This way, users like me would at least have some understanding as to why our ads were cancelled. But hey, I understand that customer service might not be your top priority. It seems like you'd rather spend your time texting friends instead of actually fulfilling your job responsibilities. I guess that's just the way things are, right?
Buyer Beware: Risky Gumtree Purchase - Broken Strobe, No Refund, No Warning, No PayPal Protection
I gotta tell ya, I had no idea how risky it could be to buy stuff on Gumtree. Seriously, never again. So get this, I shelled out a whopping $400, plus the cost of postage, for an Elinchrom Strobe that was supposed to be in excellent condition. But guess what? The darn locking ring was busted and the strobe doesn't even work right. And you know what the seller said? It must've happened during shipping, tough luck for me. Can you believe that? They won't take it back or give me a replacement. And here's the real kicker, when you go through Gumtree, you're basically outta luck. You can't even warn other folks about this shady seller. They can be as dishonest as they please, and Gumtree won't do a thing about it. And get this, Gumtree doesn't even offer PayPal protection. So basically, it's like playing a pricey game of chance. You might get lucky, or you might end up with a dud. Consider yourself warned, folks.
Beware of Scammers on Gumtree: Fake Westpac Documents and Threats
A person on Gumtree may try to deceive you by sending fake Westpac documents. They will claim that the money has been transferred to your account and ask you to release the funds. However, they will also ask you to pay a $2000 agent's fee in order to collect the items. Be cautious, as you may receive a fake bank statement from Westpac stating that the payment is on hold.
If you express any disagreement, complain, or tell them to go away, they may threaten to call the police or disconnect the conversation. It is important to note that this individual may file a complaint about you to Gumtree in an attempt to cover up their scam. They may even go as far as lying to Gumtree in order to disconnect you from the platform.
Please exercise caution when dealing with such individuals on Gumtree. It is always advisable to verify the authenticity of any documents or transactions before proceeding.
Gumtree: A Troublesome Platform for Swindling and Deception
It's common knowledge that Evilbay, or as it's now known, Gumtree, has a distinct lack of folks over the age of 25 on their team. Ever since it got snatched up for a hefty sum of at least $40 million back in May 2005, it's been nothing but trouble. Just like that whole Bill Cosby mess, there's an overwhelming number of complaints about Evilbay using the Gumtree platform to swindle hard-earned cash from unsuspecting people. They have no qualms about canceling ads without giving a single penny back, and if that wasn't enough, they'll even terminate your account without a refund. It's hard to deny the truth when there's so much evidence pointing in that direction.
Let me tell you, this branch of Evilbay won't be around for much longer. By the time 2020 rolls around, it'll be as obsolete as Oztion. Evilbay has no problem canceling your Gumtree ads, but they'll turn a blind eye when someone else is selling the exact same thing. It's crystal clear that they only bought this site to drive more traffic to their precious Evilbay platform. It's a sneaky move, no doubt about it.
