We had booked flights to Dubai however, a few days later FlyDubai cancelled our flight so we could not proceed. Rather than issuing us with a full refund they decided to issue us with a travel voucher that we had to use within the year (something we did not want and strictly told them this as well).

Anyhow, a year has passed and I have been able to partially use one of the vouchers to travel but not the other voucher. I kindly emailed FlyDubai to ask if they could extend the voucher for an additional year to which they replied that the voucher had expired and there was nothing they could do.

I emailed again to explain that we never wanted the vouchers and we ourselves never cancelled our flights: it was down to FlyDubai. We wanted to travel and they took that opportunity away from us. A simple extension of the ticket would suffice even though we really just want our money back. They rudely replied that this case is now closed and there’s nothing we can do.

I personally feel robbed, they have stolen my money. They cancelled my flights, refunded with a voucher instead of my money and then tell me that the voucher cannot be extended! How? It’s my money that I’ve spent on a ticket. For a country that explicitly says it is haram to steal I am shocked to have been on the end of such a criminalistic act from FlyDubai. This has led to an ill feeling with this airline and I will do my upmost to report this shocking customer service behaviour.

I can see online that only 5% of complaints have been dealt with positively. Surely this company needs to recognise that it is at fault!

Desired outcome: Extension of travel voucher that I never wanted. Or refund of the money I have spent on a flight that I never got because the airline cancelled it.
