Fabletics charges a monthly fee for their VIP membership. You have the option to skip a month but you have to be proactive about it. If you don't opt out prior to the 4th or 6th of the month they charge $49.99 and you get 1 credit (toward merchandise) for this fee. I recently found out that credits expire - much like a coupon despite the fact that the consumer pays for these credits. I had 4 credits expire so just about $200 worth. I went to a retail store and was informed that they expire 12 months after you purchase them. It's illegal in California for gift cards to expire and I'm not sure if this falls under that law. I contacted customer service and asked what could be done and was told nothing could be done after they expire. How can a company charge you for something and then put an expiration on it? Rather than sending an email with the subject stating that your credit is expiring- the message is "you have a credit to use" and buried in the email is their policy that credits expire 12 months after you've paid for them. This is such poor customer service. I told the customer service rep that I was canceling my membership and asked that she forward my comments to a manager. I was polite the entire time. She gave me a cheery goodbye asking if she could help with anything else. I'm baffled that this is their policy.

Claimed loss: $199.96

Desired outcome: refund of payment
