Pleasantly surprised
I was worried about the negative reviews that I found after placing an order and it's true that the order (two orders to be exact as one was created with wrong billing address) was just hanging there with the "Held" status for two days.
I called the international customer service number and to be honest I haven't ever waited this short for the customer service to pick up the phone. Everything went quckly and smoothly, wrong order was cancelled, other order was confirmed, the same day my card was charged with the right amount and goods were shipped. Received them 6 days later.

This is a great site for art supplies! Paint, canvases, paper - whatever kind of art you do. They ship quickly and everything is packaged nicely. Even if you don't do any "art" per se, there are probably useful items for other sorts of projects too. Price wise, they're significantly cheaper than my mortar and brick art supplies store (sadly...) so although they charge tax for my state, they often run free shipping specials for a minimum so it evens out.
Otherwise, the shipping is dependent on weight/price which can get kind of expensive so it's really the most economic to order a bunch of stuff you definitely need and might need :).

Brilliant!
I'm a budding artist and have bought a some stationery and now some painting supplies, some big names and some Blick brands. I am not disappointed, it's nice buying some small things for less than a buck a pop. 1oz cups? I don't need two dozen of them Amazon, I just want one! Haha! Prices are good, too, didn't need to spend an arm and a leg for just a buncha 6B pencils.
Along with those pencils, I purchased a dip pen, ink, some gouache, brushes, some sketchbooks, etc, and they all shipped just fine. I must admit, shipping is sluggish, but I am very patient. It's nice to come home to a cute box with everything I ordered, packaged with care.
I noticed how much they get bashed with bad, grumpy reviews (rarely positive,) I thought I could chip in my good experience.

D. Blick is a business run by people so before writing off mistakes or discrepancies, it's important to note that it can happen. Human error occurs. Having said that I've had both good and bad experiences with receiving orders. Damaged wood panels or long waits for items ordered. 100 % of the time D. Blick assumed responsibility, apologized and was helpful in fixing the problem. The way they handled these instances shows more character than the slip up, delay or faulty product. 90% of my experiences ordering from this website have been the kind where you don't need to think about it and just start using the materials immediately in the art studio. The 10% that ended with an email to customer service were always supportive and I end up walking away feeling 100% satisfied with choosing D. Blick over other websites. So thank you!
Very helpful
I placed an order in December which never arrived. When I emailed to ask what the status of my order was I received notice that the order had been cancelled. I called in immediately and moved up three levels to get this sorted. I had done my due diligence in calling in the order and changing my email address on record. Somehow that info didn't get saved. I needed the order to be sent immediately because I was teaching. It took about 25 minutes for the whole situation to be sorted. I was willing and happy to pay my portion of the shipping (about 25$) but asked them to pay the rest of the Fedex fee (about 50$ for them) to have the order here quickly. A supervisor called Tray (hope I spelt that right) was super helpful and they took responsibility for their company mistake. I received the order very quickly. Thank you for your help and I will be ordering from DickBlick again in the future.

Never again. Poor customer sevice
I ordered a 74 set of Gelly Roll Pens from Blick. My Michaels order I placed a few days after came before theirs. Once it arrived, the plastic box only had 2 pieces of masking tape sealing them shut, instead of being completely sealed with plastic shrink wrap. All of the pens did not have the typical plastic cover/dipping on the nibs to prevent leakage. This to me says used, especially since the sets I have bought in the "blister"/cardboard packaging always have this protective coating (you remove it after you uncap your pen, to use it). I called Sakura of America based in CA and they said they send these out with the protective nib cover like with the blister pacs and these are shrinkwrapoed when sent out. I called after getting the pens... the lady I talked to was not the friendliest and said a new shipment would be sent out. I recieved it today, about 5 days later... this time the label on the box states "please shrink wrap before sending"... seriously? That was not my point, or my request... opening the box what the did was put 1.5 inch wound stripping of shrink wrap around tne to and back of the box... nevermind the sides... not protected there at least either. Same thing... inky tips, and two pieces of making tape covering the flaps to keep the case closed. I called again and explained... the woman began stating it wasnt their fault and that they cant expect each and every pen, raising her voice, stating i could return both sets and they would send me some valued customer coupon... and send another set. I told her i didnt want another set and while i could have ordered from Amazon and recieved better customer service, that i would keep the first set, return the other, and due to this whole experience would not be using or recommending Blick to anyone I know in the future (since the second rep was practically yelling at me, my kid turned and looked at me while i was on the phone because he could hear her yelling from the other side of the sofa)... she said she didnt know how else to help me, and was transferring me to her lead. 3-4 minutes later, the lead gets on the phone, nicer tone, but nothing she could do either, same old "we cant control the quality" or "we can send another set" junk... I didnt even want to be tranferred to this woman, I just wanted to be done... but stayed on in hopes that this woman might understand the point and further research this conflict of information between the manufacturer and the warehouse... but no... and now I wont get a "valued" customer coupon either... haha, whatever. Well, they have my money for these pens, but will not get anymore of it again in the future. Ill stick with the places ai normally spend money with, that care about their customers, where I wont get yelled at for reporting an issue with a 70-90 dollar product.

I ordered 3 different painting frames and ALL were damaged upon receipt. I phoned and explained that all three frames were damaged underneath the corner wrappings and all appeared to be manufacturer defects. I needed this particular frame style and requested replacements. I was told that replacement frames would be unwrapped and fully inspected prior to shipping. I was told that I would receive a confirmation email regarding this matter. A full week went by and I needed to call Blick to check the status of my order again. They responded as if this matter was forgotten. Later, I was informed that all of the frames in this particular style were damaged in Blick's inventory and that none were available. The frames are currently listed as available on Blick's website. Upon expecting a refund to my credit card, this also became an issue where i needed to call Blick on three different occasions to sort everything out. I was receiving refund confirmation emails that did not reflect correct information or amounts. I was told "ignore these, they are sent out automatically". Beyond this, a concurrent order placed with Blick was sent to the wrong address.
Update to my previous complaint:
I phoned Blick recently (late February, 2020) to see if they had resolved the damaged inventory issue with the "Blick Simplon Plein Air Frames" as I continue to admire this simple frame style. I was directed to a manager where I politely explained what had happened last September, and that I was interested in reordering this specific frame and that I required it to be in the satisfactory condition as represented on the website. The response was "you should not order from us anymore".
Also want to add to my prior comment that I had sent images of the damaged frames in my original order (posted here) to Blick as directed by a customer service representative. I was informed to keep these frames as they were not of any return value. I also received a phone message from a Blick representative at that time who observed my images informed me that "people like these frames in this condition".
Final Note: If you want to order frames from this company, and expect to receive what they are promoting on their website with description and images, think again. In my experience, this is irresponsible in regard to the deception and actual quality of their product, how they handled this situation and their less than appropriate response to me over the phone. Review the images I have posted and ask yourself if this is how you would want to display your artwork.

Poor customer service
I rarely order something online and must say that dealing with this company was the worst experience I have ever had online.
My complaint has to do with delivery service they use. It easily can be called a rip-off. I paid for an expedited shipping and delivery, but nothing was delivered on time, however, they charged me for this. I tried to call and cancel it, but they refused. I asked them to refund the expedited shipping cost and they refused again. I don't understand why can't they stand behind it? Why don't they care? It's terrible. I am out of money because they were too lazy to help me.

Extremely slow delivery
I was a DickBlick customer for a long time now and liked everything about them, products always arrived on time, customer service was nice, but my recent experience was terrible. I have ordered some brushes and professional oils from this site and I needed them fast.
I was preparing for an artist competition which was held overseas and I needed to take all of the tools with me. They promised fast delivery but my order did not arrive on time! It was terrible! I had to leave, but I did not have anything - no brushes and no paint! These guys almost ruined everything, I had to buy at least something so I went to a local store and bought some cheap quality oils there. I live in a small town and we here do not have professional stores for artists, so I have to buy everything online. I'm very disappointed with DickBlick!
They didn't deliver order, ‘coz they didn't have it at all
I ordered painting set from the company www.dickblick.com. People stay away from these jerks, ‘coz they offer one things, but in reality they didn’t have these things at all. I placed order and paid for it, but these scammers didn’t deliver my order. They told me that it was sold out and I needed to wait now, but it was only fake promises and stupid excuses. So be careful if you use this website or leave comments if you have horrible experience with this seller.
Seller tells lies and didn't deliver orders
I work in school, so I recently ordered some art supplies from the website www.dickblick.com. I haven’t received the order and contacted the rep. He told me that they would deliver it, and I needed to be more patient. Afterwards, I haven’t received the order and the seller stopped to reply. They told me to wait, but never sent my order
Don’t buy from www.dickblick.com, ‘coz they are scammers and ###. I ordered paints and brushes from them, but the seller delivered wrong order. I paid for the return postage and sent several emails to the seller. I told him to send my ordered things or to return my money. They replied and told to wait for new order. After that no reply and no delivery. They tricked out of my money and provided nothing. The worst company ever, so avoid these ### and post comments about your experience with them.
