I purchased a portable oxygen concentrator that was listed as "like new" condition. When I tried to use the concentrator, an alarm went off for seemingly no reason so I took the concentrator out of the carrying case to change the battery in case that was the problem. There were obvious signs of wear and tear on the machine and I was a little disappointed about that for a "like new" machine but thought I'd get over it - the main thing is for the concentrator to work okay. However, after confirming the battery was good, I continued trying to use the concentrator and quickly learned it did NOT function correctly. The alarm activates every time the concentrator is in use. It says there is no breathing detected and occasionally changes the error message to say 'check the canula'. All this happens when the canula has a clear passage and I am breathing, using the machine normally. The concentrator sounds like it's working but no oxygen is actually being produced through the canula.

When I contacted the seller, he said the concentrator did not come with a warranty and the ad never said "like new". I sent a screen shot of the ad showing the "like new" info and the seller changed the ad. When I commented on the changes, the seller removed the ad. All of that indicates to me that he knows what he's doing and is trying to cover his tracks.

I have an 14 item thread of an email correspondence where I asked multiple times for the seller to refund my money. I can provide the email to you if you like.

The seller seems to have no accountability regarding his misrepresentation of an item with potential life-threating ramifications because of it's failure to function. In addition, he indicated he obtained the concentrator from an estate sale and didn't know much about its history or effectiveness. I did get the feeling as we dialoged that selling these concentrators is kind of a side hustle for him. I'm very concerned that he is getting away with this bad behavior. It's all too possible he will continue selling defective concentrators to others who depend on them for their oxygen supply so I'm taking a stand to be a voice that says Enough!

Desired outcome: Refund of $1000
