Buyer beware!
Complaint Rating: 76 % with 51 votes
Dr. Sydney Coleman, founder of Lipostructure has more than 50 complaints against him that have been filed with the DOH in NYC. This doctor has no business calling himself the founder of anything much less fat transfer. His fat grafts do not last at all and he harvests fat from areas without the patients' consent and leaves them with new problem areas. He took an oath to protect the patient, but he destroys their lives. He charges exuberant prices and you end up disfigured. Please do not go to him. You will be making the biggest mistake of your life. I made the mistake and have to live with the consequences daily. He has no conscience nor regard for his actions.

Buyer Beware!

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS LISTED HERE, AS I HAVE MET WITH THE FAMED SYDNEY COLEMAN. I REFUSE TO CALL HIM DR. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS HAD SUCCESS WITH REMOVING EXCESS FAT, AN IF SO, WHO DID THE PROCEDURE. ARE THERE PHOTOS OF SYDNEYS PATIENTS ON THE INTERNET AT THIS TIME, OR WERE YOU FORCED TO REMOVE THEM?

The patient physician relationship is one of the most sacred in our society. It is legally protected and it forms the basis of successful and in some cases life saving partnerships in medicine. But when it goes bad, it can be bad.

Recently, in the world of plastic surgery attack blogs and complaint boards have come about denouncing practioners and “botched surgery”. Proponents argue that internet web blogs and sites serve as a warning or information source to patients. Detractors state that it represents an unregulated and often unsubstaniated attack. You can guess which side the doctors and which side the patients fall on.

Take the case of Dr. Sydney Coleman, a board certified plastic surgeon in New York (www.lipostructure.com), who has a seriously unhappy patient. As reported by Jim Leonardo of Plastic Surgery News, a publication from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, “The trouble began shortly after Dr. Coleman performed corrective plastic surgery on the patient, who, after leaving the recovery room, was never again seen by the physician or his staff. Several weeks later, however, the patient telephoned the practice insisting that Dr. Coleman pay his airfare from Chicago to New York for a follow-up appointment - and if Dr. Coleman refused, he threatened to use the Internet to damage his practice.”

By report, Dr. Coleman declined to pay the airfare and the patient created a website decrying his treatment and outcome. Because the patient initially used Dr. Coleman’s name as part of the website address Dr. Coleman sued to get it back (see the National Arbitration decision in July 2006 here: http://domains.adrforum.com/domains/decisions/743682.htm ).

But that wasn’t the end of it. The patient re-registered a second name and reposted the website. And then, cleverly paid for advertisement placement of the site.

A little more research into this site confirms any practioner’s worst fears. There’s a lot of negativity. And there are a lot of claims, but not a lot of data.

The site states “Recently, a website associated with Dr. Coleman has posted a direct response to our support group website and suggests that the information we are providing is not accurate. As a result, we will soon be posting detailed information about malpractice lawsuits and other complaints filed against Dr. Coleman.”

Perhaps not suprisingly however, years later the site still remains empty about numbers of malpractice suits, complaints or unhappy patients. More troubling for those trying to find where the truth really lies is the patient him (or her) self has not even posted their _own_ pictures

i think it is hard to track all of the unhappy patients, as most of them travel long distances for their surgery. i do not know anything about anyone, legal or personl. i can only speak from my personal experience. sydney's work should be closley regulated. i wonder about the inconsisitencies of his work, as they seem to be really great (from what patient testimonies say) or rather disfiguring. there seems to be too many greys in sydneys outcomes. i'd say with a record like that, his flame and fame will burn out. and that will be good.

I think Sydney just proved what an unstable madman he is with all these frenzied posts taken from his Lipostructure website.

The above account that all of this trouble on the internet started with one crazed patient who "demanded" Sydney pay his airfare or else have his name smeared

IS A FABRICATION, YET ANOTHER LIE intended to once again blame the very victims he's physically altering against their will while under sedation.

Want to know why Coleman can't take down the website

www.fatgraft-support-group.com

now back up ?

Each of those patient's photos were submitted by the patients themselves, and nothing unfactual is being portrayed about Sydney Coleman. By all estimates the information on that website is extremely conservative.

I would agree he doesn't deserve to be called a doctor, I mean, go to the website and look at the graphic photos of what he's done to his trusting patients. Sydney Coleman has no one to blame but himself.

Sydney Coleman's Lipostructure correction:

Due to the overwhelming inquiries on this, I've tried to compile a sort of consensus from Sydney Coleman patients who have attempted to reverse his work.

In order to correct it, you have to know what he did to you and which layer of tissue he put it in. He often claims he puts fat in your superficial layers when in fact, much of it is infiltrated into your muscle and sometimes all the way near the bone.

THIS IS WHY IT'S SO HARD TO FIX.

Once integrated into the muscles and cemented by the inevitable scar tissue formation which comes from aggressive jabbing of the cannula, cutting it all out through surgery is impossible, with risks of more irregularity and scar tissue formation.

If he put an enormous amount of fat in one place, micro-liposuctioning with a very conservative surgeon may be more viable than mesotherapy: take out the meat of this crap, then resort to mesotherapy to tweak and fine tune.

If you don't have enormous globs but your facial expression is impaired, please try mesotherapy by a conservative surgeon.

Types of mesotherapy:

Many doctors tell you to stay away from steroid (kenalog) injections because of its unpredictability. Some patients had much success, however, using very dilute solutions by a conservative doctor with consistent results.

That solution is mixing 50% KENALOG 10 with 50% SALINE,
injecting deeply enough to not dissolve the superficial tissues, and injecting very tiny units at a time. Kenalog 10 is the weakest and nothing stronger should be used...If the doctor tries, bolt out the door--you may get dents, atrophy and holes!

Because steroids act for a very long time once injected, it is advised to wait a few months between treatments.

This product is the only one I know of in which great success was claimed by a Coleman patient, and which is available in the U.S. that is also relatively cheaper than other therapies.

Ultrasound doesn't work unless the fat/scar tissue hasn't cemented yet. Viable and safe though, if used early on.

It may also help to take vitamin E supplements to soften scar tissue.

Please try the least invasive therapies before resorting to riskier ones. THIS IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE FROM A DOCTOR... It is empirical information gleaned from the actual experiences of Coleman patients. What the hell other options did we have?

For more detailed information about which doctors are known to be conservative or have much experience treating Coleman patients, better to go on plastic surgery message boards like makemeheal.com, healthboards.com, plasticsurgeryforum.com for that information.

I hope this helps all Coleman patients out there to get fixed and get on with their lives. Keep in mind though, if you're suing him document before and afters with good shots.

The primary indications for lip augmentation are aging and a patient’s desire for an adjustment of facial proportion. As a person ages, the lips lose their fullness. The goal of lip augmentation is to create attractive, pouty lips. By using Dr. Coleman’s technique of fat grafting, he is able to increase the surface area of the lip. The changes that occur with the aging of the lower lip are dramatic. Along with the decrease in volume of the lower lip, wrinkling of the upper lip is almost always much worse. Restoring lip fullness through structural fat grafting will result in a return of a more youthful appearance. Dr. Coleman has a specific technique that acknowledges that the lip has definite contours that must be respected and enhanced in order to produce an aesthetically appealing change. Dr. Coleman uses fat grafting to achieve the proper shape and volume.

Older patients and younger patients object to the expressions that seem to be painted in the fold and lines on their faces. The nasal labial folds and marionette grooves convey powerful emotions. Aging can generate negative and fixed changes in facial expression. As the face ages, it loses its fullness associated with youth. As the skin around the mouth loses its fullness, the unsupported skin sinks into fold, wrinkles, and creases. As these folds become more pronounced, unintentional emotional expressions can become fixed on the face. It has been Dr. Coleman's experience, that with structural fat grafting, he can soften the nasal labial folds back to a younger state. What Dr. Coleman studies from the patients old photographs, is not the existence of the folds, but their depth and prominence and how they affect and alter ones facial expression. The key to the fat grafting to the nasal labial folds and marionette grooves is in the placement over an area to add support to the facial structures. At no point is fat intentionally grafted in only a single crease.

LipoStructure to the cheek and lower eyelid can restore fullness, soften wrinkles and crow’s feet, decreases pore size and lighten lower eyelid darkness. A further indication for fat grafting to the cheeks is adjustment of facial proportions. This is most often seen in a younger person who desires more angular cheeks, but it can also be someone who has atrophy associated with acne scarring or aging. This technique can also be useful for disguising obvious silicone implants, minimizing the appearance of bulging eyes, correction of facial lypodystrophy and congenital deformities.

A full, taunt neck is one of the signs of youth and beauty. With age subdermal fullness disappears and the skin texture gradually deteriorates, leaving behind unsupported, crepy skin. When structural fullness is added to the neck, it provides underlying support to the skin to restore a more youthfull fullness. Recontouring of the neck with structural fat can provide further enhancement by disguising prominent neck cartilages.

It appears we have two "April Smith's" here. The woman who created this post alerting others to the dangers of Coleman and now we have an April Smith..."no relation" to the originator of this post... but an advocate of Coleman. Beware folks. Another Coleman "Con Job!" If you will note, the "REAL" April Smith asks... "IS THIS A JOKE?"

I had fat added to the sides of my nose by Coleman... "WTHOUT MY PERMISSION!" One side looked like a big lump and the other side was smaller... an obvious failed experiment to give fullness to it. Whatever for... it looked fine???

Masturbation can be defined as self-stimulation to cause sexual sensations. The use of the word masturbation usually suggests that the person is manipulating his or her genitals to the point of intense pleasure or orgasm. (Orgasm refers to a period of intense excitement in which genital muscles enter in to a series of highly pleasurable contractions or movements.)
While masturbation can involve another person, most of us think of it as a very private act. According to some health care providers masturbation allows a healthy way to express and explore your sexuality and to release sexual tension without all the associated risks of sexual intercourse. Health professionals generally agree that this private touching is a natural, normal mode of self-exploration and sexual expression. Unfortunately, after the excitement of the moment has passed, many people find themselves filled with guilty and or shame.

Why all this guilt and shame? Actually, from American History

A little bit of American history:
Our attitudes about masturbation have deep roots for sure. Around the turn-of-the-century, some adults were so against masturbation that they forced their daughters to wear gloves made of a steel-wool-like material (like Brillo pads) at night and to put a powder on their genitals that made them painful to touch. They made their sons wear metal chastity belts at night that made it painful to have an erection. During the 1820s, some parents prevented male masturbation by piecing the foreskin with a wire and soldering the ends together. Boys and girls were discouraged from masturbation by the threat of blindness, madness and illness. Of course, none of these masturbation-induced maladies proved true.

The subject of masturbation was taboo years before the United States was created. All kinds of chastity belts and other devices were used to prevent masturbation, probably as far back in history as you can go. This will vary from culture to culture.

Masturbation gives women the opportunity to explore their body while at the same time giving them a high degree of sexual freedom. It allows women the opportunity to experience sexual pleasure without relying on a partner and to release sexual tension when "they" choose to. Masturbation can be very empowering for women, as it gives them increased control over their body and sexuality. Masturbation is a great teaching tool, it teaches women about their body, how it responds to sexual stimulation. For many normal and healthy women masturbation is their primary or only means of experiencing orgasm. Many women experience their most intense orgasms while masturbating, because they can provide the ideal mental and physical stimulation they require without worrying about the wants of their partner. Masturbation is extremely beneficial to women throughout their life, from infancy to maturity. While a woman will not always have a sexual partner she will always have herself.

Why Learning Early in Life is Important

Masturbation is the first and most import sexual skill a girl or woman should learn as it frequently holds the key to enjoying other forms of sexual activity. Ideally, this skill is learned prior to puberty but far too often it is not learned until a women is in her late teens, early twenties, or later. The reason it should be learned, or at least known about, prior to puberty is so teens have a constructive means of addressing their developing sex drive. It also increases their awareness of their ever-changing body, and provides some sense of control over it. If a teen knows how to masturbate she is less likely to be compelled to seek out a sexual partner before she is emotionally and physically ready; while girls start menstruating between the ages of ten and fourteen their body is not truly prepared for pregnancy, childbirth, and nursing until late in their teens. Masturbation provides young women with an option other than sexual frustration or sex with a partner.

Learning to masturbate to orgasm at an early age is often easier than later in life when we have learned social mores and expectations that frequently create barriers to sexual pleasure and orgasm. As we get older and become educated we tend to think about things too much. It is often better to learn to masturbate and potentially experience orgasm prior to knowing what you are doing and how others view those activities. Things teens and women have learned and experienced may cause orgasmic impairment. When masturbation is learned early in life girls often continue to even if they feel guilty or fear being punished, because of the pleasure and relaxation it brings them. Innocence and naivety does have its benefits.

How Do Women and Girls Masturbate?

Women and girls masturbate in an endless list of ways. They may massage their clitoris with hands and fingers or rub their vulva up against pillows, bed cloths, stuffed animals, and furniture. Some use water spray, vibrators, and dildos to stimulate their vulva or vagina. The vagina appears to play a limited role in the masturbation practices of women, but vaginal insertion is by no means rare or unusual. When vaginal stimulation is used it is often used in conjunction with clitoral stimulation. Some women employ nipple and/or anal stimulation in addition to clitoral and vaginal stimulation. Fantasy often plays a major role in a woman's masturbation activities. The brain is the largest and most important sexual organ and as a result physical stimulation alone is frequently not sufficient to trigger orgasm.

The Right Way?

It is important to understand there is no "correct" or "right" way to masturbate. Some women feel they should be able to masturbate to orgasm using a different or more correct method because they hear other women do it that way. It is important to keep in mind that each woman's anatomy is a little different and her psychological makeup is a lot different. This results in every woman masturbating differently, even if they use the same basic technique.

While many women can masturbate to orgasm employing several different techniques others find they can reach orgasm only when they use the same method each time. There is nothing wrong with this. Partly because of conditioning and partly because of differences in woman's bodies learning new techniques can be difficult or even impossible. If you are orgasmic with your current masturbation technique feel free to experiment but do not feel you have to reach orgasm in other ways too. Remember, masturbation should be fun and enjoyable no matter how you do it.

If anything Sydney, you have JUST DEMONSTRATED WHAT A SICK, MISOGYNISTIC PSYCHOPATH YOU TRULY ARE.

Thank you for supporting our earlier claims from pages 1-5
beautifully by posting your bizarre lipostructure propaganda and the above psychotic soliloquy. Even if your fingers didn't do the work there's no doubt you dictated these posts.

Your victims always knew what a psycho you were, but in all honesty I never imagined you would so aptly demonstrate this to the whole world via the internet.

It is very clear to me that regardless of your sexual orientation, you're the one who clearly has a sexual fixation on some of your patients, demonstrated by your methodical symbolic mutilation and vividly demonstrated by the genitalia drawing you made on patient DD.

Folks, Sydney Coleman is trying to post anything and everything on these boards to detract attention away from the real complaintants by posting under their names.

First, he tried to post his own patient testimonials. Then, he started posting articles. Now, he's posting bizarre non-sensical
monologues on "women and masturbation" and who knows what topics he'll go off on.

The support group for Sydney Coleman patients is now back up

with pictures.

I DID NOT WRITE THE ABOVE POST. I AM DISTURBED BY THE OFFENSIVE CONTENT FALSELY BEING POSTED UNDER THE NAMES OF PEOPLE WHO ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT HIM. COLEMAN PATIENTS IF YOU HAVE BEEN INJURED BY HIM PLEASE CONTACT ME.

Correction: Jenny nor April Smith, nor whomever else did not write the above and former posts promoting Coleman or writing offensive material. I'm alarmed at how brazen he's being toward the very people he's hurt.

That sick discourse on women and masturbation struck me as particularly misogynisitic, intended to speak directly to the female patients whom he violated...right in the gut...IT WAS CLEARLY TARGETED TO SPEAK TO ME AND THE REST OF HIS FEMALE VICTIMS.

HERE'S A SUGGESTION TO THE REAL COMPLAINTANTS: POST UNDER THE HEADING-- "I WAS INJURED BY COLEMAN" RATHER THAN NAMES.
THAT WAY, WHATEVER OFFENSIVE OR COLEMAN-PROMOTING CONTENT, IF POSTED UNDER "I WAS INJURED BY COLEMAN" WILL CLEARLY BE DISTINGUISHABLE. DO NOT LET HIM DISCREDIT, DETRACT OR SILENCE THESE BOARDS.

For those of you suing, keep in mind that if you were also oversedated against your knowledge, or deceived into believing you would be sedated but conscious, you can also sue the anesthesiologist present, especially if he/she misinformed you about the duration or type of anesthetic experience you would be having.

One woman is currently suing Coleman, the anesthesiologist, and the nurse Christina Walker for malpractice. This is all public record and you can find the first two defendant's deposition records in the courts.

The others involved, such as the nurses who were cognizant of the fact that you were being misled by false information to start with and subjected you to more lies in an attempt to reel you in for surgery, should be held just as accountable!

It seems pretty clear that Coleman or his lawyers are posting testimonials from his website. This only gives grist for the mill, in the sense that it's obvious Sydney is scared.

Second, regardless of how many procedures are alleged to have "satisfied" customers, the fact that Sydney has in MANY cases disfigured patients. No matter how many anonymous testimonials someone pastes here from Sydney's site, that does not change. In other words, there is no mitigating factor here.

There IS instead what looks to be a coverup by the NYS Dept of health, a coverup by CBS, namely, a Mr. Rosenfeld, and the passive conspiracy and culpability of the plastic surgery community -- the wealthy plastic surgery community.

I wouldn't freak about Syd posting a few testimonials here. They don't change anything about criminal behavior.
