Ridiculous Rate Hikes On Top of Already Ridiculous Rates - NO STARS
Shame on me for setting up direct pay and not paying attention to my bills. First off, I was scammed into switching to this service by someone who told me they worked for Ntnl Grid - pretty shady. I like to support clean energy, but my rate was already double that of National Grid's and it rose - IN ONE MONTH - over 70%. I received a $450 bill - TRIPLE THE GOING RATE for the amount of KWh's I used. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL (fill in the blank)?!?
Well, I read all the fine print now, and I've become a more educated consumer. Please learn from my - VERY COSTLY - mistakes.
Do not sign up with this company. They will rip you off. There are plenty of other suppliers that provide clean energy at reasonable rates, without any contracts or shady dealings. I just found one and switched.
What they are doing should be illegal.
Recommendation: DO NOT GET YOUR ENERGY FROM THIS COMPANY - OR IT'S GOING TO COST YOU
They Target Poor and Elderly
clean choice energy are targeting the elderly. read the posted reviews, many start the same way... my mother, my father, my aunt... in my building there are 28 units but only two of use receive n on-stop email, snail mail and phone calls. they call all the time, they wake me up in the morning, they wake me up at night and they call during church on sunday. yesterday i fell taking their junk mail from my mailbox to the recycle bins. i have submitted complaint after complaint. cleanchoice targets senior citizens. in my possession right now i have 17 "second attempts and final notice;' letter and this is just the past two weeks. they are forcing me to sign up for something i do not want. this has been months and months and months. please make these people stop.
Recommendation: read the reviews and steer clear. no one wins against these people. and if they get your name they will NEVER stop
Clean Choice Energy wants to clean out your wallet & are trying to take over your electric bill and charge you monster bills! Deception at its highest level! Why government allows these shysters to be set loose on consumers is beyond me!
I am a CleanChoice subscriber
I am a CleanChoice subscriber. I received a mailing recently offering a $75 rebate if I had an electric car. I took them up on the offer and in the mail received a $75 check, but the letter it was attached to did not reference an electric car rebate. Instead, it contained the language, "Please be advised that by cashing this check you agree that your complaint has been handled in a satisfactory manner." I interpret that as precluding me from participating in any class actions against CleanChoice Energy. Their call line rep couldn't explain why this letter included that language. I repeatedly said that there was no reference to an electric car rebate I asked for another letter referencing the electric car rebate without the "...you agree that your complaint has been handled..." language and he refused. I feel that it is unethical (at very least) to promise a rebate for one thing but make you waive other rights unrelated to the rebate in order to cash the rebate check.

I talked with a representative of this company and asked for additional information to be sent to me. He took my information and said that he was signing me up for additional information and that once the document was sent to me I didn't have to sign up if I didn't want to. The document arrived in my email two days later (today) and it was an Enrollment contract that he used my signature on. I immediately signed the notice of cancellation page and sent it back as I was within the seven days. I will leave another review - among other things - based on if they cancel it. In my opinion they lied and are attempting to fraud people. They also put a BGE account number on the document that I have no legal authorization to make changes to. I don't know how they got that number and associated it with me. I even told the representative that I didn't have any energy bills in my name or under my authorization.
My bills have recently been outrageous. I'm in the DC area. I'm reading recent reviews and sounds like I'm not the only one. My Pepco bills were typically so low - but my last bills have been 125 - 150 dollars a month for a 1.5 bedroom condo! Not even 700 sq feet. Yes, I used my window air conditioner units, but that's the highest I've ever paid! I'm also not sure how to contact Clean Choice directly, since my bill has Pepco's number, but not Clean Energy's. I'm trying to hang in there but they don't make it easy.
Clean Choice Energy will gleefully remind you how aggressive the electric companies have been getting recently for collecting past due bills. They use your regular electric company who you pay through as their "enforcers."
I enjoy very good customer service. They call me back! Very good rates & smooth sailing!
This is an outstanding and very top-notch company
This is an outstanding and very top-notch company. They are 100% environmentally safe and very proactive. I am a climate change activist on several important committees for such and totally support what they are doing. My very expensive "fossil fuel" energy bills that had polluted and destroyed our environment are now a very comfortable $20-$25 dollars a month - and this was all throughout the summer even while running the air conditioning at all times. They also plant scores and scores of trees to improve and support our environment and help it out with carbon sequestration issues that enables less air pollution into our environment and helps protect the ozone layer...to help improve climate change... and they also take environmentally "unsafe" vehicles off the road...all this in conjunction with being a local utility provider. I cannot say more about this wonderful and outstanding relatively new (2 years for me now) company and how our country is evolving towards changes such as these.

They "took me" also and really went crazy with their monster bills for my modest 1 bedroom apartment that should only be $50 -$60 a month. Clean Choice Energy charging up to almost 3 X higher with steadily increasing bills. They led me to believe that it was a good thing helping the environment and shutting off my "dirty energy." They have an amazingly clever & aggressive marketing campaign that fooled even me! Hyping up what a "wonderful thing" that going with them was! Because by switching electric companies to them, the world would be "greener and cleaner" & i could have peace of mind i was doing my part helping the environment. Finally made then go away, but Clean Choice Energy made several hundred dollars out of me with their price gouging. After 2 billing cycles with their outrageously inflated charges, I am back with my regular electric company and electric bills back to where they should be again (about $60 a month).
VERY DECEIPTFUL. - Sends us BS "Important Notice Action" via Postal Mail every month. - Mailer wants us to pay almost 18 Cents per kW (nearly 3 times our current rate). - Their Web Site rate is 15.7 - they want to RIP OFF Consumers for an extra 12.5 % if they use the "urgent mailer"! Think on that last one carefully! Imagine a UTILITY COMPANY THAT HAS NO INTEGRITY OR TRANSPARENCY and has DIFFERENT RATES online vs their mailer vs the official PA Power Switch site! Be VERY CAREFUL if you get any mail or communication from them. Your State will have an OFFICIAL site with every option for your choice in electric - in PA it is www.papowerswitch.com. We FINALLY get someone on the phone after a long time to try to get removed from their list. Their agent had the gall to tell us that "it can take up to 90 DAYS TO GET REMOVED". WHAT? Utility companies are REGULATED - they are mandated to comply with X days (likely 7, 10 or 14) to ACT on any consumer request.
THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. I SIGNED UP FOR THE SOLAR AND ELECTRIC AND MY BILL WENT WAY UP. They tricked me into signing up for solar by promising me a 250 visa gift card if I signed up. The customer service woman keeps telling me she's not sure how to sign me up and was on with supervisor and made me re sign up and she advised that I will now get visa card sent electronically and I was all signed.. yesterday I got my bill from bge and it was the highest bill I ever had. So when I seen that I sent email to the person I was talking to (Kathy J)at clean choice she sent me a message back saying I had to sign up again there was a problem. I want all my services canceled and I have proof of the 250 offer all emails clearly showing this woman lieing over and over. I also have proof my bill went way up. I have asked over and over to speak to her manager which she also won't let me do
This company engages in the practices of price gouging. When everyone worries about increasing cost of energy, groceries, etc., during the past several months, Clean Choice Energy stealthily raised their pricing to $50 per kWh while other companies (like Con Edison) was at $12 per kWh. While I am willing to spend a little more for the sake of limiting gas emissions and climate change, 4-5x price increase is difficult to take. When confronted, the company offered 2 months worth of refund ( to $10/kWh) out of the more than 12 months of over billing, and that refund check will be sent to me after signing a form to waive any other future claims or complaint.
I have been a customer with this company for a few years now, and I am quite satisfied
I have been a customer with this company for a few years now, and I am quite satisfied. Change always feels uncomfortable, but keeping my lights on with renewable energy is important enough to me to pay an extra few cents per kilowatt. I read through the terms of my agreement carefully before signing, and have not experienced anything I would consider fraudulent or misleading in the way they marketed themselves, the way they communicate with me, and especially the pricing on their energy. Market fluctuations are normal, and I am quite happy with my service. I am not going to throw a tantrum because it isn't the exact same as I have experienced previously. The world needs to shift to renewables, and I am so grateful that there is a company out there making it possible for me to utilize clean energy without spending thousands to install my own solar panels. Thank you! I gave 4 stars only because I opted into electronic billing, and received two months of paper bills before they ceased. Minor damage.

FRAUDULANT, SCANDALOUS AND DECPETIVE PRACTICES! An independent representative interrupted my day at a zoo to tell me about a "solar farm" that will essentially save me 10% off my utility bill. The rep stated that all I had to do was take a SURVEY and be placed on a waiting list and in 90 days, I would get a call to see if I would like to save 10% off my bill. It was hot and I was certainly gullible. AT NO POINT was I told that my credit would be ran or I'm actually signing up for a complete conversion to clean choice energy. The rep LIED on multiple levels and was purely uneducated and completely scandalous. I was utterly floored when I received an email with a contract with my current utility vendor, account number on it and language to check my credit. Shameful practices! I called yesterday to remove my name from this [censored] show but my information didn't populate. Today, I received confirmation that my credit was checked and Clean Choice Energy is working with my current utility company. I called Clean Choice Energy again today and requested to be removed and cancel any thing associated with my name. I was provided a cancellation confirmation number. Never again. Please train your goons and advertise/promote your [censored] show respectfully.
I signed up, after reading reviews I sent a note to cancel. I hope to receive a letter saying I've been cancelled from receiving their service. Appears clean energy is not a not good if rates are not affordable.
Until yesterday I had been a Clean Choice customer for approximately 3 years. However, since June my electric bills have been astronomical ($100 - $160 per month more than the same period last year). I called Pepco to find out what the problem was, and they informed me that Clean Choice is charging approximately 4 times the cost of electricity provided by Pepco per kilowatt hour. I terminated my Clean Choice account immediately. I'm on a fixed income, and I can't afford to be gouged by Clean Choice. I'm in favor of clean energy, and Clean Choice can charge whatever they want for their power. However, if Clean Choice is going to raise their rates so significantly, they owe their customers advance notice.
I was totally misled by this company
I was totally misled by this company. When I switched from my Eversource Company in MA, I was told by a staff person that I would pay only a few pennies more for the alternative energy sourced electricity. My bill would therefore be almost similar to my previous company's prices. However, last month I received a bill for over $400 (much higher than the past). I discovered that CleanChoice Energy actually increases its prices frequently. So, I switched to my city's company (City of Cambridge, MA) which is local and less expensive. To my surprise and shock, I received a new bill for $686.36 for one month! When I spoke to a CleanChoice Energy person I was told that I had switched during a cycle and had to wait until the end to make that change. I then asked for help to reduce the cost as I'm a senior citizen on fixed income; I was told that since I was no longer their customer they couldn't do that. Yet, they charged me as a customer. I've contacted AARP and other organizations to warn people not to deal this this company that uses unfair and very burdensome practices.

Horrible scam in which these people are "set loose" by the government. They allowed to be romping around lying and cheating people into signing up with them. Then watch the bill raise 3 x higher!
Clean Energy Choice has overcharged me by nearly 250% for the electric energy supplied to my home in July 2023. Their charge was $513.25 and the PSE&G charge for this same period would have been $219.33. I have contacted customer service and received no satisfaction for these excessive charges and canceled my service effective immediately. When I signed up for Clean Energy Choice a year ago, their agreement said that their rates were equal to or slightly higher PSE&G's rates. A 250% difference isn't close! I have contacted the office of my US Congressional Representative and the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs to raise a price gouging complaint and will take any additional action necessary to fight these excessive charges.
Used them as a clean energy source for my electricity for the last three years. This month my bill was $519 so I looked into it more - $398 of that went to Clean Energy Choice - a 75% mark up! Unbelievable.
CleanChoice Energy, Inc. is the biggest scam and theft happening to DC residents. My bills double in one months time and that has happened NO WHERE in the country. Turn them off as your supplier ASAP. Your bills will go back to reasonable without lining the pockets of this scam company.
Be aware that when you sign up for this company's service, you may be entering a 20 year contract; it's in the contract, but it's not discussed
Be aware that when you sign up for this company's service, you may be entering a 20 year contract; it's in the contract, but it's not discussed. The penalty for cancellation is $200 and it takes a few months to cycle out. I was recently zapped with a bill for a 'billing error' on their part; apparently, this happened to a lot of customers in October. When I called, there was no real explanation other than, "Sorry, we under-billed you. It doesn't happen often." Doesn't happen often? Really? My average bill in the summer months is roughly $130 - $175. The month this happened I was billed $135, which I paid. They then came back 2 months later and claimed to have under-billed me ($183), which brings the total for August to roughly $318. I'm not a billing expert, but I don't think you can retroactively bill someone for YOUR mistake; regardless, this is a considerably high price for a month that should have been in the $130 -$175 range, which I paid. I've saved all of my billing statements and will not pay this overage. Signing up for ClearChoice Energy was a mistake and should be looked into.

I signed up with CleanChoice Energy a few years back
I signed up with CleanChoice Energy a few years back. I moved twice and they sent me threatening letters and called saying they would fine me over $300 if I did not provide my new address. When I spoke with them they just renewed me for another year or two just to get them off my back. The most recent time I made sure to get a hold of them to tell me I would not be renewing with them. They have called daily, sent me a bunch of letters in the mail. More recently they have been sending me letters that said "SECOND NOTICE" in big letters on the front which at first glance looks like something important that I forgot to pay. How can you claim to be an earth friendly company when you waste so much spam letter mail regularly, especially ones that say SECOND NOTICE in big red letters on the front? I compared my CleanChoice Energy Bill with my current bill which is not with them and it's not much of a price difference at all. It looks and seems like a good idea, but this company is very threatening and annoying. Be careful what you sign up for long term. It may seem like a good idea at first until you decide to go with another provider.

THIS COMPANY IS CORRUPT DO NOT CONTRACT WITH THEM
THIS COMPANY IS CORRUPT DO NOT CONTRACT WITH THEM. AFTER YOUR 12 MONTHS EXPIRE THEY PUT YOU ON A VARIABLE RATE THAT QUADRUPLES YOUR BILL. WITH LESS THAN $50 OF ELECTRIC SERVICE THEY CHARGE OVER $300-400 A MONTH FOR THEMSELVES THE THIRD PARTY. EVERY MONTH FOR 3 MONTHS I HAVE CALLED TO CANCEL SERVICES WITH THEM. THE FIRST MONTH THEY TELL ME THEY WILL SEND ME A CREDIT FOR 75 OR 100 AND FIX THE RATE SO NOT TO WORRY BUT THE NEXT MONTH THE SAME THING HAPPENS. THEN I CALL TO CANCEL AND THEY TELL ME IT WILL TAKE 30 DAYS. BUT A MONTH LATER I CALL AND THEY TELL ME THE CANCELATION IS NOT ON RECORED WHILE THEY BILL ME ANOTHER $35 FOR $58 OF ACTUAL USE. AGENT SAYS SHE WILL ESCALATE BUT IT WILL TAKE 2-3 DAYS TO GET A CALL BACK. NOW I HAVE TO FIGHT FOR MY $355 BECAUSE PSEG SAYS ITS THEIR CONTRACT SO THEY CANT HELP. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS COMPANY IS HEADQUARTERED IN WASHINGTON DC WHICH IS A VERY GOOD INDICATOR THIS CORPORATION IS RUN BY DARK PRETENDING TO BE LIGHT, PRETENDING TO CARE ABOUT PEOPLE AND THE PLANET BUT THEY'RE JUST PLAYING ANY SIDE FOR MONEY. AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE IVE BECOME MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT EDUCATING OTHERS WHO NOT TO SUPPORT.
Yes, they "got" me for awhile too, until i made them go away! Because made my electric bill triple on $50 worth of energy a month, just like you. Didn't let them talk me into anything! Always looking for more reviews on this dark organization. My campaign is to educate the public on Clean Choice Energy's dirty tricks selling "clean energy.".

When my BGE bills were more than double my historical winter invoices from prior years, I initially thought it must have been the gas price that was high. I contacted BGE - it was my electric price that was dramatically higher, and BGE notified me that my electric was supplied by CleanChoice Energy. BGE directed me to contact CleanChoice. I called CleanChoice and was told that if I'd agree to another twelve months with their company they could cut my electric costs in half. When I told the representative that I was not happy about the two BGE invoices I had paid, I was asked if I'd feel better if CleanChoice mailed me a check for $500. I said yes and they did mail me a check. I won't know until I get my next BGE invoice whether the electric kilowatt cost was adjusted in half. Now I have a year with this company - unless I find that the prices have not been adjusted. I told a neighbor about this and the response was - it sounds like a scam. If I had read all of the Complaintsboard.com reviews, I would not have "continued" with CleanChoice that I really had no idea was NOT a part of BGE when I signed their mailer asking if I'd like to support Clean Energy.

I was eager to join Clean Choice Energy, switching from WGL wind RECS a couple years ago
I was eager to join Clean Choice Energy, switching from WGL wind RECS a couple years ago. But once my initial 1 year fixed rate contract expired (at something like 11 cents/KwH), they jacked up my rates ferociously. At first I didn't pay attention, but finally this fall, wondering why my Pepco bill was so high, looked at the rate I was paying. It had increased more than two-fold and I was paying 24 cents per KwH. I switched back to WGL at 11.1 cents/KwH for 2 years (my very last Clean Choice bill reached a rate of 24.5 cents). 3 weeks after I switched back to WGL, we got an offer from Clean Choice of 11.1 cents/KwH. This is just sleazy business practice, and as someone who is eager to shift the world to sustainable energy sources, totally disgusting since it feeds into the concern folks might have that if they venture into this unfamiliar turf (clean energy) they will be taken advantage of. It seems that with Clean Choice Energy, they WILL be taken advantage of. It appears to be a corporate policy of buyer beware. Shame on them. I will go out of my way to discourage my green friends and would-be green friends from doing business with them. These practices may be legal but they are really unethical.

Nothing more disgusting than what Clean Choice Energy does, preying on the unsuspecting with good intentions & hopes for cleaner environment, but have no idea what they are signing up for! I quit Clean Choice Energy after they "got me" and they milked me for every red cent they could get on the last 2 billing cycles. Its beyond belief our government is allowing organizations such as this to exist, hurting and cheating people out of their hard-earned money!

I will not consider Clean Choice Energy entitled to any stars
I will not consider Clean Choice Energy entitled to any stars. They provide many phones for customers (website and in the PPL bill) and when you tried them all the phone calls get cutoff. I am trying to get the service cancel. Reasons: the electric charges increased by 33% even though there is not increase in consumption. Their customer experience is so flaw that I want out. It is frustrating in all fronts. If you try in their online to get the service cancel they re-activate it as a new service request for electricity even when I am trying to cancel. This is so unethical. And I had tried several times to get someone to call me and nothing happens. The service is overpriced but the customer experience is horrible and I want out even if they give me the service for free. They claim you can cancel anytime but they place every possible stop to get there: no access to a service person, no calls back even when they say in the recording they will, the online does not provide for cancellation but reactivates the account even when that is not what I intended. And I hope they don't dare to say there is a contract because the way they set the algorithm in their website is to reactivate even when that is not the customer request. Please Complaintsboard.com do something about this.
If I could give CleanChoice Energy, Inc
If I could give CleanChoice Energy, Inc. less than one star, I absolutely would. After a record high electric bill this month ($157 vs. $75 in previous years), I called and opted to cancel their service. I signed up with CleanChoice 10 months ago and initially noticed my bill rising slowly, but not to the rate it did in the past 4-5 months when my bill rose exponentially to more than 2x what I normally pay. The CleanChoice representative claimed that my introductory 9% had raised to over 11%, but I had thought it might be due to the winter months. Like many, I signed up with CleanChoice after receiving mailers promising a painless switch to renewable energy with little impact on my billing process. As others here have stated, I wanted to do my due diligence to support clean energy, but the only positive aspect about switching to CleanChoice was the ease of their cancellation process. Upon cancelling, I made it a point not to take it out on the CleanChoice representative who helped me to cancel, but he actually tried desperately to defend CleanChoice and their deceptive advertising model. I'm sorry, buddy, but my guess is you don't even use this service. No self-respecting person, even in the face of our grim climate change world, would opt to double their utility bill? I believed CleanChoice has the right intention, but I not know they are malicious and exploitive in acting as though they will support clean energy while not harming your pocketbook. In the course of almost a year, I am so happy to end my relationship with CleanChoice, but I can't say without collateral damage to the tune of paying more than $500 of what I should have. I am chalking this one up to a lesson learned, but certainly one that could've gone towards my own wind turbine or an actual solar panel for my house. Bye, bye CleanChoice. You will never be my choice again.

Writing this lengthy review because I need for the potential customers to know how much of a SCAM this company is!
Writing this lengthy review because I need for the potential customers to know how much of a SCAM this company is! I received a mailer from CleanChoice back in 2020 stating that if I signed up it would be a few dollars more on my bill, but at least it would be for 'clean' energy and not *** 'dirty' energy (citation needed). I didn't mind and signed up. In the beginning it was fine, just $70 more, but then in the middle of a cold winter and the pandemic, all of a sudden, my bills went from 170 here or 200 there, to now 300... 400... 500...600! I had to dipped into my savings and get on a budget plan just to keep *** from cutting off my utilities! Finally, I called *** and they made me realize the culprit was under my nose all along, Clean - Conjob - Choice! I called the number on the bill (because they never sent any information to me!) and called and asked why on earth am I losing so much money!? The customer service rep finally informed me, that the CleanChoice mailer I signed was 'variable', and echoed what is basically CleanChoice's motto for why they are so crappy: VaRiAbLe RaTeS ArE SuBjEcT tO FlUcTuCuAtIoNs In MaRkEt PrIcEs! After cancelling, I went to my email to review my contract to see where in it was it Variable, only to realize that CleanChoice never sent me a copy of my contract, and I called them back to get a copy, and encountered customer service SO awful I was happy to be put back on hold for so long! When I finally escaped the phone and got a copy of my contract, I saw that they had me in a fixed rate plan for ONE month and then variable for the rest of the contract, UNHEARD OF! Word of advice to new and current customers - RUN! Word of advice to CleanChoice - you can try to cover your behinds now with offering fixed rate plans now from the start, but all of us who were taken advantage of remember To other victims: keep records of everything! Log a complaint to your local attorney general and look up 'cleanchoice class action suit'!

Yes, and i will never forget how Clean Choice Energy took advantage of me and will let the world know about it!
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. Had a solicitor come to my door and talk to me about what they offered was told that it would cost me less than my current rate with xcel energy. Was told that I would start receiving bills from them and seeing a credit on my bill in the next month or so. A few weeks later I received a phone call from them from someone over seas I presume. I was unable to understand 80% of what they said and any questions I had about how much it would cost a month were dodged. They explained there would be a fee if I wanted to cancel but when asked they dodged the answer as well. They finished the call and said they would send me the contract information but I never received it. This was in November. I did not receive my first bill until may in which it was higher than my normal bill by a lot. I tried to create and account on there website to pay my bill which was an agonizing process that never worked correctly. I was able to log in once but when I went to pay my bill I received error messages. So I tried to call and was greeted with a long wait time in which no one answered. They had an option to be put on a list and they would call you back. Never received a call back. Frustrated I emailed them saying I would like to cancel my services. I received an email saying my services were canceled with a confirmation number. No were in the email did it say how much the cancellation fee was or what the times of the cancellation was. I received another email statement the next month for another month of service and a cancellation fee of 250 dollars. I tried to log into the website again but it now says the account no longer exists. But when I try to create another one it says I already have an account. I tried to call again and still unable to reach someone. So I emailed again an got a reply stating read your contract that has been attached. I have emailed them back but have not received another response in regards to paying my bill to be done with these people, but I do keep getting emails saying my bill is past due. This is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with

CleanChoice Energy Complaints 15
CLEAN CHOICE ENERGY INC
CLEAN CHOICE ENERGY INC. (1055 THOMAS JEFFERSON SUITE 650 WASHINGTON DC 20007) changes from a fixed price to a variable price for energy delivery without clearly communicating that this change is going to happen, or has happened. This results in bills being approximately 4x the amount of the original fixed price. Their monthly letters that they claim spells this out only alert you to a usage problem and prompts you to do better with energy efficiency. When confronted with this, they offer a "good will" credit which is based on the difference between the wildly high variable rate and the fixed rate. In my case it did not come close to the losses I incurred. I told them that i wanted to cancel right away and that in my opinion they are taking advantage of people who are willing to pay a higher rate for green energy. They said, that it will take one or two billing cycles to cancel. I had to prompt her to tell me how to get a refund, and she said that i have to call her directly after each bill and she will then cut me a check for the difference. This continues their pattern of obfuscating business practices.
This company keeps sending mail for a *** to my address. For the past two years I have sent back over 7 letters and asked them to remove this name from their list but they refuse and send another letter every couple months. I have owned this house since 2006 and I do not know a *** nor has this person ever lived at my home. The name *** needs to be removed from their system. I do not know this person and do not want their mail coming here. I am not interested in their services so there is no need to change the name and start sending it in my name.
I receive multiple misleading solicitations over and over again from this so-called clean energy provider. They make it look like the requests are from ***, but they are NOT. Its misleading and manipulative. Additionally, there is no opt-out to prevent them from annoying me with this junk mail. Probably because they are a scam.
They will not stop calling to try to get me to switch to their service. I've told them to stop. I told them I'd report them if they didn't stop harassing me. They continue to call, so here we are. They will harass you for years even if you're not even a customer!

Oct 28 2021. Aman came to my door and asked if I would like to sign up for 5% on my electric bill. He says my bill will remain the same and there will be a 5% credit on your bill. You will still get your bill from ***. Hes pushy and its sign here here and here. everthing is small print and I couldnt see that it was contract or subscription. I wasnev told I was signing up for a solar farm! neve mentioned it. Ithen read over this 26 page thing and it says they will be billing me! I will get 2 bills. one from my electic company and one from the. This was decetiful and a scam. I have his name as signed it. I feel he is exploting and lying to people. I am going to the post office tommorow to send a signed form that lets me cancel within 7 days. I am sending it certified. I told them to send me a confirmation letter that it is canceled. I will also be calling them. I hoping if they will not cancel it which by law they do, you will help me resolve this issue. I will wait a few weeks to hear back from them. He was very deceitful and not honest about this at all. I never got the imformation that I was signing subscription with Cleanchoice.
I signed up for this company's service as an alternate electric supplier and after a few months I switched to another company for a better rate. Since that time Cleanchoice Energy has been sending me constant reenrollment letters. I have called them several times and requested that my name be removed from their mailing list and system. I was told that I would be removed but instead of that I have actually been receiving MORE mail from them. I receive one or two every single week. I have requested it in writing as well but am still receiving multiple mailing every week. They make the mail look serious by printing 'Second Notice' and 'Second Attempt' as if I owe them something or am in default. I want this company to STOP and to NEVER contact me again.
CleanChoice Energy has fraudulently enrolled me in their program by faking my initials on a contract. I never signed up with their program. I noticed that I my last 2 *** bills were very low and this month I noticed that was because of a Community Solar Credit. My supplier is Constellation New Energy and even talking to ***, they have no awareness of any relationship with CleanChoice Energy. I understand they might not, even if I was legitimately signed up with them, though. They've called me several times and I've always told them I'm not interested. I've received USPS mail from them and have simply disposed of it. I looked thru my email history and have found copies of a contract that supposedly has my initials, but which I did not sign. This contract is dated 9/23 and I do have an email from *** / *** with a copy of the contract. Seems odd that IF I had signed that then, I would not have received a bill until last month.
In Nov 2021, I requested to cancel my subscription with Clean choice energy. I was informed that there was a 90 day cancellation waiting period to close my account. On Dec 1, 2021 I was given a cancellation number (***) along with a 90 day notice of cancellation. It has now been 5 months an this company is continuing to bill me. I requested on 3 seperate occasions a more detailed confirmation on when exactly I would stop incurring charges, when my last bill would be processed, and when my account would be closed. I asked for dates. They responded to each of these 3 requests with vague answers. They refused to provide exact dates. Their most recent response was on 4.12.2022. I had asked them to confirm that the bill which had been processed that day would be the last bill I would ever see. It was for the solar generation period of 2.1.22 - 2.28.22. Feb 28 was 89 days after Dec 1, 2021, so I was asking them to confirm that no further charges would be incurred on my account. Thier response still evaded my very direct question, but stated that my account was "inactive with a zero balance". On April 29 2022 I recieved yet another bill in the amount of $75.74. The bill is described as charges for the dates of 3.1.22 - 3.31.22. These dates take place more than 90 days after Dec 1 2021. These charges also appeared after I was informed that my account was "inactive with a zero balnace". It seems they re-activated my "inactive" account and it also generated charges retroactively! This company is clearly scamming me. I need this most recent bill to be voided and I need to never see another bill from this company again. I pity anyone who signs up for service thorough this company. I can't even go into into the reasons I chose to cancel the service in the first place because there aren't enough characters left for me to describe those horrors. Suffice to say they are BAD NEWS all around!
On Wednesday may 11, 2022 I attempted to enter *** located at ***, leominster ma only to be confronted by *** stating he represented *** stated he could have a solar or wind representative contact me to discuss my options. He obtained my phone number, address only to later find out he works for clean choice energy. Little did I know, without authorization he changed my electric supplier to be clean choice. I never authorized this change let alone did not authorized him to enter my account. I received a letter from my carrier stating I will be charged $150 termination fee. I never heard of clean choice energy, *** is a scam artist collecting the right amount of information to alter my *** electric account. It will now take 2 to 3 months to remove clean energy from MY account along with loosing my lower price supplier having to renegotiate my term. Scammers.*** has been notified of these bait and switch liars. The difficulties of removing clean energy has taken hours without any results. I have filed a complaint with Massachusetts attorney General office but have not heard bad. Stop these bait and switch companies.

This company has sent several misleading marketing pieces using the name of my current provider, implying that the notice is coming from my provider. These notices also feature language like "second notice" in red font, implying that I am overdue with my current provider. In reviewing the complaints here, I am not the only one to find this language misleading and predatory for those who don't have the time to research the context. The fact that the company has been getting such complaints for months (along with complaints about other misleading marketing practices, like claiming customers are using "dirty energy" when they are not), and the chief operating officer continues to defend the practice is concerning. The COO seems to acknowledge the importance of reputation on one hand and do nothing about it on the other hand. I will be making the switch to renewable energy sources, but only because this marketing reminded me that I can choose renewable energy, which it could have done in a much less deceptive way. I don't want to reward these practices, so I will be taking my business elsewhere. In the interim, please cease marketing to this address.
A business that claims to be environmentally friendly keeps sending me unwanted junk mail. Offending mail was received 28 JAN 2022, 18 FEB 2022, and 29 MAR 2022. They claim it takes over a month to remove my address from their database. I want my address removed immediately and I want them to notify their source of the action they took. I want them to cease and desist from any further contact with me.
For over the past year, I have been receiving monthly letters from the company asking me to sign up for their services. I spoke with them several times, asking them to stop contacting me and sending me letters. I even explained that I would be moving and that the power at my new residence was controlled by someone else, so I would have no influence over wether we could even use their services. However, I continued to receive mail at my new address. After a few more months I called and asked to be removed from all of their contact lists, mail, phone, email, etc the rep assured me that I was no longer in the lists and should stop receiving mail. Yet, I have continued to receive mail for the past two months. Its annoying, a waste of time, a waste of resources, and bordering on harassment. I want the mail and communications to stop.
I have tried numerous times to contact this company to request that they remove my address from future mailings. The main number gives you a brief ring then the busy signal, or just the busy signal. The other two numbers put you on a continuous audio loop, then disconnects the call.
Every other week I get intimidating emails from CleanChoice Energy about switching to them as an energy provider. These letters continue to come despite multiple calls to CleanChoice Energy "Supervisors" to get these letters to stop. I do not know how this company came to have my name and address but these business practices are extremely predatory and bothering. If these letters do not stop coming I will be contacting the FTC and issuing a cease and dissist letter.

CleanChoice Energy had people going door to door in our neighborhood over two years ago
CleanChoice Energy had people going door to door in our neighborhood over two years ago. We spoke with a salesperson that came to our door and I guess made the mistake of providing our *** number. I was unsure about signing up, the plan was for him to come back the following day as that would give me time to review what exactly I was signing up for. Either he never came back or I missed him, either way I was quite surprised to start getting bills from CleanChoice Energy a couple months ago. I called and asked because I was sure I had never signed up for the service. They insist I have, yet are somehow unable to forward me a copy of the contract. Everyone I have spoken to there insists it is in my file and they can't understand how/why the email isn't working. Now they want a significant cancellation fee but will waive it if I give 90 days notice, which actually will take an additional two months due to the billing cycle and maybe another month because my next bill might go today(?). I'm not sure how it's possible to run a business this way. It seems very odd that they are trying to enforce the cancellation fee/90 day notice on a contract that they can't even show me.
I have been fraudulently signed up for Clean Choice Energy's Community Solar Program. I never signed anything, nor even remember doing anything other than tearing up the unsolicited mail from this company. Clean Choice Energy sent a bill in the amount of $40.90 for the program. There was also a credit to my *** of $-69.13.I do not have an account on their website. I can't even get one because my email is not recognized. The amounts are not the issue, it is the fact that I never signed up for this service. This will be followed up shortly by a criminal complaint.
On March 20th 2022, I received a solicitation from CleanChoice Energy through the mail. The envelope claimed it contained an "important energy update." Inside, it says "IMPORTANT NOTICE ACTION REQUESTED" and it directs me to sign and return a form to sign up for their services. This kind of solicitation is deceptive and predatory. I've been approached by third-party door-to-door sales representatives and vehemently declined any request(s) to be a customer. And now, they are sending me mail. I've explained that this is predatory marketing strategy and has completely changed my perception of the company and any affiliates. I'd like all contact to cease-and-desist.
We keep receiving unwanted mail from this company about switching our current energy to their company. We have called them several times to stop sending us wasteful paper (as we have no reason to keep it) but they continue to harass us. Each time they say they will remove us from their list but they clearly do not listen. We've moved 3 times in the last 2 years and they find us each time.
I was contacted to do a survey sometime back and was told if I signed up for this clean energy it would save me x amount of money and it has coasted me double of what my electric bill is and I feel that is just using a hard working American for free money for them when they are not saving anyone money but pretty much stealing there money.. I feel as if they need shut down or need to start giving people there money back for there scamming people into thinking they will save money on there bills when in reality they are stealing more money from them

In March , I received a mailing from CleanChoice Energy stating that if I enroll in their electricity program, I will receive a free *** as a promotional offer. I signed up on April 13 and never received the free ***. I made several attempts to contact CleanChoice Energy, and I spoke to several customer service representatives (CSA). In November , a CSA - Evelyn C (x***) - convinced me to accept a $75 gift card instead of the ***, because it is faster to process, issue, and mail the gift card. She stated that I should receive the gift card within 5-7 business days. After the elapsed time, I contacted CleanChoice Energy again, and a different CSA told me that the gift card was processed on November 11th so I should receive the gift card by the end of November. In early December, I contacted CleanChoice Energy again, and a CSA told me that I should receive the gift card by December 4th. It is December 8th, and I received neither the *** nor the $75 gift card. I have made several attempts (5 or 6 phone calls) to resolve the issue with CleanChoice Energy, but they give me meaningless platitudes instead of the advertised promotional offer. THEY ARE PRACTICING FALSE ADVERTISING!

I was falsely led to believe by a door to door rep for CleanChoice Energy that he was seeking neighborhood support for cleaner solar energy and that by signing off & agreeing to support the solar farm program it would create credits on my regular energy bill. It came across almost as if he was working on behalf of the energy company and he just needed 5 min to have my local support for cleaner energy. Several months later I was surprised when I got a bill from CleanChoice Energy and called to understand what exactly they were charging me for. I was informed that I had signed a contract for a 25 year commitment to a community farm and that I would be receiving monthly bills and that to opt out was $500.00. While the service may be credible - The way it was sold to me was highly misleading and unethical. I would like to have my subscription terminated without charge and no additional bills. I did sign the contract and admit I should have read the terms more carefully - but the way *** works is it just bounces you between initial fields. I never saw how long the contract was or had any idea there were hidden terms and penalties. I was never told what I was actually agreeing to or that it should be a more thoughtful commitment or that there was any financial implication. He just told me he needed me to quickly initial from my phone and that would link my address to ***'s clean energy program & credits.

This is the third mailing I've received in the past 4 months, claiming that my current energy supply is "Dirty mix including fossil fuels." This is not inside the mailer envelope, but rather displayed on the front of the envelope in a clear acetate window. And it is not a general statement about default energy supply in my area, but specifically includes my street address with the "Dirty fuel" status announcement beneath it. This is false as I have been under contract with a reputable ESCO for a year now, and I pay more for clean energy through them. This conveys false information to my neighbors, mail carrier, cat sitter, parents, children & their friends, and anyone else who might touch my mail. I pride myself on environmental action and have several personal and business relationships in my community which would be impacted by this false statement about the dirty energy choices being supplied to my home address. Please immediately cease all further solicitation to my address, and stop this aggressive, hypocritical and manipulative marketing campaign to residents of Westchester NY. We do not want your services, and those of us who truly care about the environment (as your 'clean energy' business model would purport) are deeply offended by these excessive mailings which through their use of paper and acetate are possibly as damaging to the environment as 'dirty mix' fuels may be. Additionally, the way these mailing specify our street address may causes residents to contact their current energy provider to ensure there has not been an unannounced switch to dirty energy.
This company sent two men to strong arm my mother about signing up for a 25 year contract!
This company sent two men to strong arm my mother about signing up for a 25 year contract! She is 79 years old! My mother has memory issues. They convinced her to sign up for it then put her on the phone with another man who took audio of her to confirm this is what she wanted to do. She never did sign anything. They used the audio as the contract. Is this legal? So now she has been picking up charges she does not need! Her small home already has a low energy bill. Once our family found out what had happened they turned it over to me. The contract was cancelled but she allegedly owes $498.30. (sounds like $500 if the amount they like to close accounts for, from other complaints.) Rather than fight that we sent them a certified check for that amount. Sent is certified mail as well. That was 1.5 months ago. They keep sending her demand letters for the same amount. They now claim they signed for the certified mail but did not get the check. They then said they could take payment over the phone from my account! No way I am giving them my account. They have been SEARCHING for this check now for 2 weeks. They want me to cancel the check and send another one! I do not want to go and do this because they cannot handle their mail. I tried calling their corporate headquarters. That is a voicemail. I told them I would cancel but they have to have someone come and get the check OR give me a personal address to send the check to. Otherwise the same thing can happen. To me, this company seems very predatory towards the elderly. Is there any recourse in getting them to leave my mother alone?
On June 15th I received a bill from *** for $481.69
On June 15th I received a bill from *** for $481.69. I questioned this very large bill since i have a "12 month Level plan", which ran about $122.00 per month. ($162.00 during the Pandemic) because I was advised by *** that there was no meter reading during the pandemic, but would make necessary adjustments once they could resume meter reading. I paid the monthly billed amounts ($162.00) through May . So when I received such an astronomical bill ($481.67) I called *** and was informed that "you have two energy suppliers". "Clean Choice Energy" as well as ***. and my usage was excessive. Meanwhile, I received monthly e-mail from ***. that was usage was GOOD wit a smiling face. I have no verification that I signed up for this extra service. I am an 84 year old Sr. citizen with a fixed income. I spoke with a Mrs. R at *** on 6/16 tel. # or() She gave me Clean Choice Energy"s # . on 6/17 I called and spoke wit "Sandra", requesting cancellation of clean Choice, since I did not know I had such. She apologized and gave me cancellation # *** but said it takes about two months for it to be cancelled and I could receive another bill. *** called me back (Mrs. R) She advised, payments could be made in installments: 1. $115.00 on 6/29 (in addition to my regular monthly bill) plus an additional $25.00 on the 5th of each month. Final installment payment of $16.67 due by October 5th. Please intervene for me! I feel I have been bamboozled (tricked) and taken advantaged of as a Sr. citizen. I would like to get the bill declined because it was not made clear to me about a "Clean Energy" cost Thank you kindly for you assistance!
My Xcel Energy Bill Acct #: *** I was contacted some time back (several times) about signing up for CleanChoice Energy
My Xcel Energy Bill Acct #: *** I was contacted some time back (several times) about signing up for CleanChoice Energy. I ignored the several attempts, but finally "gave in" due to the relentless contacts. I asked several questions , the conversation was pushy, and I ulimately agreed to sign up. The details were confusing and I was not provided with any clarity to my questions. I was paying $50/month for what was expected to save me "a lot of money" on my energy bill. I never saw the savings. I recently explained that I was frustrated with not seeing any savings. I told the person to whom I recently spoke that I was on the budget plan ... to which he said that's why I don't see any savings (no further explanation than that). I then asked to discontinue my membership. I was then told that I would need to pay $500 to get out of the membership "contract". I don't feel I signed into a contract. I think discontinuing something for which I was told I would see "significant savings", but haven't and feeling disappointed with the unrealized claims and expectations shouldn't cost me $500.I wonder how many other customers have signed up for the same thing ... only to feel frustrated by similar unrealized claims. The relentless cold call sales tactic to pull me into a program that was confusing from the start seems unscrupulous, but having to pay to ge tout of something that isn't providing the benefit originally outed seems more unscrupulous. I really feel CleanChoice ought to refund my $500 (at the very least). There has to be some rule in place that requires a company like this to stop the sales call/transaction when it seems there remains some confusion. It's the right thing to do. Sales people should be able to recognize when they reach this point to end the transaction.
On July 28 I received an solicited and unwanted mailer from CleanChoice Energy Inc
On July 28 I received an solicited and unwanted mailer from CleanChoice Energy Inc. On July 29 I sent CleanChoice Energy a cease and desist order demanding that they cease all contact with me and that they purge all my consumer information from their corporate databases. On August 10 I received another unsolicited and unwanted mailer from CleanChoice Energy Inc. I sent them a second cease and desist order demanding they cease all contact with me and purge all my consumer information from their corporate databases. On August 20 I received yet another unsolicited and unwanted mailer from CleanChoice Energy Inc. I intend to send a third cease and desist order to CleanChoice Energy inc. on August 24 demanding they cease all communication with me and purge all my consumer information from its corporate databases. USPS Certified Mail will confirm that CleanChoice Energy Inc. has received all of the communication that I have sent them. I contend that CleanChoice Energy Inc. has no intentions of complying with any of the demands that I have made to this company. I want it known that I have no history with this company, that I have demanded this company cease and desist all communications with me on 3 occasions, and that I have demanded that it purge all my consumer information from its corporate databases. Yet, CleanChoice Energy Inc. refuses to comply with my written and formal demands to stop harassing me. Yes, I am using the word "harassment" because when a consumer has no history with a business, tells that business to stop unwanted and undesired solicitation, that business has an obligation to do as told by the consumer to do. A formal and written demand to cease all communication means just that. CleanChoice Energy Inc. needs to stop harassing me! The ethics of any business is clearly displayed when that business can't take no for an answer.

Canceled account in December, via telephone
Canceled account in December, via telephone. Told it would take up to 1 to 2 billing cycles. Bills received reflect a fluctuating rate opposed to a fixed rate; 3 to 4 times the main Power Company rates. Received a bill for billing cycle Nov. 30, 2021 to January 3, 2022 of $330.58 (almost 5x rate of main Power Co.)Contacted again on January 2022 to once again canceled my account; was offered a fixed rate change and $120 check only if continued service. Disputing current charges of $330.58 (most recent bill) and original cancellation notice from back in December. Was told again that the cancellation will take up to 1 to 2 billing cycles. Asked to speak with a manager/supervisor, Representative placed me on hold and call was disconnected after holding for 6 minutes. Called back, same Rep answered saying she try to get a manager on the line, but they all were on other lines and not available. I said that I would hold on the line until someone was available; instead the Rep stated the she sent a inquiry over, and it would take up to 72 hours for someone to contact me back. Scripted by the Rep asking how to make my experience a good one I reiterated that I want my account canceled immediately and my account to be created for the over charges. Since the account wasn't canceled when requested, all Past payments and monthly service charges since 2019 were based on the excessive Kwh rates! Sales Representatives solicited my development; misrepresenting the services of their company, incentives that were never honored (gift cards for switching provider), and false Disclosure on canceling at any time. Complaintsboard.com shows many other customers with similar, if not same complaints! Although my household is not on any government assistance, there is a considerable percentage of residents who are have signed up for this plan and have had their electricity bills paid by agencies for over charged rates. This is simply outrageous
Hello. CleanChoice continues to overcharge me
Hello. CleanChoice continues to overcharge me. I wrote an earlier complaint to Complaintsboard.com about this, and they said it didn't qualify as a complaint. I don't understand how they could say it. Here's the latest: I contacted Cleanchoice when I discovered through *** that I was being overcharged, or charged more than I needed to be, for their services. The first CleanChoice rep I spoke admitted that I was being overcharged and offered a lower plan. (From 23.5 cents per kwh to 11.1.cents per kwh.) I said, no, I wanted to cancel their service. She canceled, then said the cancellation would not take effect for two months. I told her I wanted to be charged the lower rate for my final two months and eventually she agreed to this. I was given confirmation numbers for this call but they always refused to send me confirmation emails, which I found to be very annoying as it makes it more difficult to make my point on subsequent calls. When I received my electric bil for the following month (September), I had been overcharged by Cleanchoice again. I called and spoke to another rep, who told me that he could see that I had been overcharged, but that was probably because *** had not received notification about the rate change yet; it took some time for them to catch up, etc. He said he would call me back on Thursday, September 10th, at 3pm to update me on the changes. He did not call, of course. I called back the next week and spoke with another rep who saw all the problems, saw that I'd been overcharged, apologized, said that it would be corrected on the next bill and he would send me a refund for the overcharges. Great. I received the refund for the overcharges last week. The following day I received my new electric bill--and they've overcharged me again! So now I have to call them again! Basically, I think Cleanchoice is a scam. They've been overcharging me for years (their "variable" rate, which varies in that it increase every single month), and even after I have called them, and they've agreed that they've overcharged me, they continue to overcharge me. I've read about CleanChoice online and it seems like this is a regular business practice for them.
