Pella is an awful company.Buyer beware!!! They have Lowered their standards to poor quality and demented sales people and customer service reps. The simple task of putting a new patio door in is too much for this company to handle. The rep who sold me the door came out to my house and prided the company on being American made and he couldn't stop stroking his own ego about how wonderful the company he works for is. I bought the door and I spent my whole saturday at home while they installed it. Once it was in I saw that the handle was some cheap plastic black one when I had specifically ordered...

These YouTube videos pretty much explain it all:

Pella Windows was contracted to manufacture and install these windows for this customer, who paid Pella installers nearly $3, 000 for the work.

Pella failed to properly measure and size one of the windows and then tried to cover up their mistake with this ridiculously bad installation, rather than making good on their contract.

According to the contract, Pella Windows is responsible for:
• The entire project under the contract;

Following are the events and my experience with Pella Windows and my recommendation is don't purchase Pella because their designs and durability are substandard.

• My home was completed in September of 2003 with Pella Windows installed. The warranty period started in December 2002.
• In the 2004/2005 time period we had to have almost 30 windows replaced due to a manufacturing defect that caused the windows to leak. When I first contacted Pella they were not willing to replace the windows, but because I had a video of the windows leaking they changed their mind...

My house is 16 years old and I have 3 windows that the wood is rotten and they need to be replaced. My parrents have pella and never replaced any and their house is 59 years old. So far I have had to replace the basement doors because they were made wrong. The windows above the doors upstairs have had to be resealed because they were wrong from the factory. Now I need to replace the 3 windows. I talked to the Pella dealer and their Pella windows in the front of their build are rotten the same as mine. These are the worst windows I have ever seen. The quality has sure gone downhill. I would never...

I sincerey hope you are reading this BEFORE you purchase a Pella window. We purchased our Pella windows in 2005 and have had nothing but grief from the beginning. This is compounded by the fact that the company that services the product in CT is horrible and take forever to make the repairs. Our screens did not fit and had to be replaced 3x. The measurementw were incorrect. After that our locks on the double hung windows (I have the Architect series) did not lock. There is a plastice piece that always gets caught. The service tech replaced the piece a few times and then finally told me that this...

I spent $592.00 on replacement screens for my 22 year old home. When the screens were received, there was no hardware included to attach the screens to the existing Pella windows. 2 weeks of phone calls to the local number 574-287-2901, national 800-374-4758, and support on www.pella.com resulted in only frustration. I was told because these were custom ordered, I can't return them. They are faulty. How can I use screens if there is no way to attach them to the window, short of McGyvering them?
Pella has the worst after sales support service of anyone I've had to deal with in a...

My name is Charles Bagenstose. I reside at 1019 Butterworth Lane, Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20774, and my telephone number is 301-336-0622. Along with well over 1700 other customers, I was taken by the Pella Corporation for a terrible ride. This is my story.

During the summer of 1992 I purchased a Pella sunroom from the James A. Cassidy Company (now K.C. Company) in Beltsville, Maryland. Unbeknownst to me, the windows were constructed in such a manner that water could enter the frames beneath the trims and...

We built our house in 1996 and paid $6, 000 more than a competitive bid from Anderson to have the great Pella windows installed in our house. In 2003 we had 3 windows replaced due to window rot.. They were just out of warranty, so I had to pay $600 to have them replaced/. In 2005 we had another 3 windows replaced due to window rot to the tune of $600?. Today we have another 12 windows that need replaced at the cost of $4500.. When I spoke with Pella recently they mentioned they use nothing but the highest grade materials to prevent window rot:. I have my brochure from Pella dated 1994 and it says...

Ordered and received a new Pella patio door, Designer Series, and installed by Pella.

There was a 1/4 gap at the top where the fixed panel and sliding panel met.

So much for an Energy Star rating. More sunlight was coming through the gap than the light from my desk lamp produces.

waited 3 weeks! to get a pella repair team out. He bent the track to close the gap. Now every time the door open/closes, it Squeals!

Have to spray Silicone every weekend. Repair guy said this is Normal on these doors...

We purchased our home in 1998. It has pella double-pane windows that have the blinds between the panes that had been installed approximately 3 years previously according the prior owner. In 1999 we noticed some dampness and discoloration of the wood frame of the bay window.

Pella send a representative to the house who promptly told me that it was my fault for not cleaning the vents properly and allowing condensation to build up. I have since religiously cleaned the vents and have ultimately removed one of the panes to better monitor the situation (and to prove it could not possibly...

Pella Windows - Do not buy from them

I purchased Pella windows for my home that I was the General Contractor for. On several of them the aluminum cladding on the outside is coming loose, and on the Pella sliding glass door as well. On the two casement windows in my master bedroom the air leaks right through them. You can feel the cold air hitting you in the face. Last winter I put plasic up in one window and when it was windy out the plastic would bellow out as tight as a balloon. In my front bedroom the 3 windows in there have mold growing along the bottom from the air leakage and condensation buildup. When I called Pella to complain...

One of our Pella windows have been leaking probably from day one. Since the leakage was small, we did not detect until several years later. Once we figure out the problem, we contacted the Pella Window representative.

They sent people to look at the problem window and told us that the window needs to be replaced and we have to pay the installation. The problem is we live on 8th floor and it is going to cost us arm and leg to correct the problem which is a result of defective window and defective installation the first place. We have emailed the manager several times...

Pella Windows - Ohio - condensation

I have a octagon shaped window in my bathroom that condensation builds up on the inside when the outside temperature gets below 35 degrees. When the outside temps get below 30 degrees, the inside of the window actually gets about 2 inches of ice all around the outer edge. The inside wood trim is stained from water and getting black. Pella says it is too much humidity in the house. I recently returned from a10 day trip where the furnace was not on and the temps got into the 30's overnights a few nights to find condensation on the inside wood. It has to be the double paned window is not sealed...

Pella Windows - Connecticut - Moisture and Frost Inside Windows

We bought a 40 year old retirement condo 4 years ago which had original windows with interior storm windows. Since we have electric heat and Connecticut has the highest electric rates in the continental US, we decided to have the wndows replaced with Pella. Their installer insisted that the storms needed to be removed and that we wouldn't need them. Well, we now have moisture on the inside of 3 out of 8 windows. The service tech came this week and told us we needed to remove drapes, install a dehumidifier, etc.

We didn't need to do any of this before, we are $8k poorer,...

My Wife and I called this pella sales rep and had him visit our home for direction of ordering the proper window with features that my wife wanted in the window. After about an hour of checking every window in our house and quoting to replace them all "parts only" "when I ask about pella installing the window his response was they are way to high and I should do it myself or have a local carpenter do the job" I decided that we could only afford to have the living room window replaced at this time. The existing window had allot of wood rot around it so I chose to have a contractor install the window...
