Hughes - Looks like I'm not alone.
I only used the service for a couple of months then Century link became available and more recently trouble-free Kwickbits. I received an email from Hughes about updating my payment information and it had my account number on it. With that, I was finally able to reach a human. I said please discontinue my service and come get this thing off my roof. I wa...

I agree with all, nothing but lies. And very POOR service. When I call to cancel no matter what the fee will be I get a promise of a discount on my hight rate. Only for the rate to change back in a couple of months. When I call I'm told it was explained to me the discount was for a 2 month period; a surpirse to me. My next move is to, yes cancel soon along with the credit card used for this service. I will block the card so no charges can be made. Hughes net will have 30 days to remove their equipment from my home and yard or it will go to the dump. I don't know of an attorney that will help fight again these [censored]s who are only out to rip people off.
Recommendation: Do not under any circumstances trust or take out this service!!!

Unprofessional responses to my attempt to get service when my internet stopped functioning
On April 30, 2025, I contacted HughesNet because my Internet stopped functioning. I made several arduous contacts with customer service. It was difficult to understand the speech of the agents and they did not have the knowledge to handle the situation. After several phone calls and a lot of my time, I was told that I needed a service visit, which is what I...

My 92 y/o father got a flyer saying free installation and two months reduced cost of Hughsnet TV. The installer came out and installed their system in January and it did not work. He told my Dad that it was not working but should start working in a while. It never did. My dad has called and I finally called on April 22 only to be told that dad has not had a...

Still to this day. No internet, not a word from the from them. Then found out they took 80 bucks out my bank account. Was supposed to be only 5 bucks.

Billing / rebate / service
First I wanted a bill sent to my home versus charging my credit card, no problem you can do that. Second I wanted to select my own password, No problem, you can do that, we can help you. After two weeks I tried to cancel, after an additional two weeks I called to cancel. Agent told me it would cost $400 and I was in a 24 month Contract.
This is the worst internet service, its very slow and does not accommodate online streaming. This barley provides connection for my one laptop for searching. I hate this service and want out of their contract.
Desired outcome: release of my 24 month contract at no cost
Hughes internet and tv
I’ve had Hues internet for almost 6 months and for the last 3 months I can’t get good internet and I only have 1 smart tv and my cell phone. I do not game or download a bunch of apps. I’m only on my tv maybe 3 hours a day because I work I’m trying to start a new business. I upped my package to 50 gigabytes and I’m being told I used all of it in 3 days when I’m barely there. I have been hung up multiple times by customer service who keep telling me to go to their website and all I see is there charging me 50 gigabytes for almost no usage. It makes no sense and I can’t get any honest help.
Claimed loss: Money, time and energy and happiness.
Desired outcome: Refund for the 2 months that I’ve had almost no services even though I paid my bill
I understand the hardship you are experiencing. HUGHESNET is the worst internet connection, and they provide false advertisement regarding their product. Agen had the nerve to let me know, I should have been aware HUGHESNET is not good for streaming but only for light internet searching. T

HUGHESNET Services, I find this very UN-ethical for a company that does not produce what they are supposed to refusing to refund charges. Read full review of HughesDisappointing Experience with HughesNet: Hidden Equipment Charge and Poor Customer Service
I recently had an experience with HughesNet that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I had a 2 year contract with them, and when it ended, I called to cancel my service. I spoke to a HughesNet employee who told me that I needed to send back the equipment, but when I asked what specifically I needed to return, he only mentioned the modem. So, I packed up the modem and sent it back in a box that I received from HughesNet.
However, three months after I cancelled my service, I noticed a charge of $210 on my credit card statement from HughesNet. I immediately called them to inquire about the charge, and was told that I had not returned a "radio box" that was also part of the equipment. I was shocked because I had no knowledge of this "radio box" and was only told to return the modem.
I explained this to the HughesNet representative, but they were not helpful and refused to waive the charge. I was left with no choice but to file a dispute with my credit card company. What made matters worse was that HughesNet deactivated my account immediately after the charge, so I couldn't even log in to see my bill or account information.
Overall, I was extremely disappointed with how HughesNet handled my contract end and the customer service I received. It's frustrating to feel like you're being charged for something you didn't even know existed, and then to have no support from the company to resolve the issue. I would not recommend HughesNet to anyone looking for internet service.
HughesNet's Poor Customer Service and Account Management
I recently had an experience with hughesnet.com that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. For the past three weeks, I had been unable to send or receive emails, so I decided to call hughesnet to see if they could help me out. However, they simply directed me to my internet provider, who then sent me back to hughesnet. This back-and-forth went on for a while until I finally put my foot down and told hughesnet that this was an email problem and not an issue with my internet connection.
To my surprise, hughesnet then informed me that I had actually cancelled my account with them back in April, even though I had been receiving emails from them up until November. This made no sense to me, and I was frustrated that they were trying to blame me for the lack of service I had been experiencing. In the end, I decided to cancel my account with hughesnet altogether, which was a hassle in and of itself.
I was disappointed with the way hughesnet treated me as a customer, especially since I had been with them for a long time. It's never a good feeling to be treated like trash and thrown away, and I wouldn't wish this experience on any other hughesnet customer. If you're considering using hughesnet for your internet needs, I would advise you to proceed with caution and keep your expectations low.
Terrible Experience with HughesNet: Unreliable Internet and Heartless Customer Service
My mother-in-law, who is 76 years old and very ill, decided to try out HughesNet for her internet needs. Unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing. No matter what time of day it was, the internet was unreliable and painfully slow. It was impossible to watch anything on TV or browse the web without constant interruptions and buffering. Overall, the experience was awful.
To make matters worse, my mother-in-law needed to move in with us due to health concerns. She had recently recovered from lung cancer and has COPD, so it was important for her to be in a safe and comfortable environment. When she tried to cancel her HughesNet service, they charged her a whopping $590 cancellation fee without her permission! We explained the situation to HughesNet and even declined their offer to continue the service at our home since I work from home and need reliable internet with a VPN. Despite this, they still took the money out of her account within two weeks without any warning.
In my opinion, HughesNet is a heartless and dishonest company. They have no regard for their customers' well-being and will do anything to make a profit. Dealing with them was one of the worst experiences I've ever had when trying to help someone cancel their service. I would never recommend HughesNet to anyone, and I urge others to stay away from this terrible company.
Misleading Advertisements and Terrible Customer Service: My Experience with HughesNet Internet Service
I live in a rural area and I was really excited to get HughesNet internet service. I asked the salesperson if I could stream movies and do my school work without any issues. They assured me that I could do all of that and more. The installer also told me that I would have no problems with the speed of the internet. However, I have been really disappointed with the service.
The internet is so slow that it won't even run at 1! I can't even watch a movie without it buffering every few minutes. It's really frustrating. Every time I call customer service, they tell me that I have gone over my limit. But that's impossible because I use my phone's hotspot for everything. I'm stuck in a 2-year contract and I can't even cancel it.
The customer service is terrible. They are no help at all. There have been times when I have called and have had no service. The box doesn't work and I have been met with the same response every time. They tell me that I have gone over my limit. But that's impossible! I can't even print anything because the internet is so slow.
The cords are also really ugly. They are hooked up down the front of my home next to my front door. It's really embarrassing. I don't know how they stay in business. The company is nothing but lies and their advertisements are misleading. These people need to be shut down honestly.
Disastrous HughesNet Internet Service and Terrible Customer Support: A Warning
HughesNet's internet service is a complete disaster. Their customer service is even worse. We upgraded our package for months, but we never received the bandwidth that we paid for. Customer service hung up on us multiple times, and they even had the audacity to claim that an internet provider can't send an email. They blamed our equipment for the sub-par service, even though we had four laptops, three tablets, and three smartphones, all of which were supposedly defective. We were paying over $170 per month for service that was slower than my cell data 4G connection. HughesNet wanted to charge us anywhere between $300-$600 to terminate their service, and the amount changed with every service rep we spoke to. When we tried to end our service, one rep informed us that we couldn't cancel without their tech validating our complaint about the service. They even required us to continue paying for their service if their system said it was functioning correctly. Don't waste your money or time with this provider. Stay away from HughesNet.
HughesNet's Cancellation Process Needs Improvement: A Disappointing Experience
We've been using HughesNet for our internet needs for the past 24 months. Honestly, we were hoping to cancel our subscription earlier, but we didn't want to face any penalties. So, on the day our 24-month plan was up, I called HughesNet to ensure that our service was canceled and to check if there was anything else I needed to do. We had purchased our equipment, so there was no need to return anything. The representative gave me a confirmation number for the cancellation, and everything seemed fine. They assured me that there would be no more autopay charges.
However, to my surprise, on the same day, I noticed that our normal billing charge had been taken out of my checking account. I immediately called HughesNet to dispute the charge, but they told me that I should have called a day before my contract ended. This was unacceptable to me, and I was quite upset. I have already contacted the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to see what else I can do to resolve this issue.
To make matters worse, when I called to dispute the charge, I was put on hold and forced to listen to a recording that told me my last payment date and when my next payment was due. This was confusing and frustrating. When I finally spoke to a representative, I asked him why I was being told about my next payment when I had already canceled my subscription. He confirmed that my subscription had been canceled, but I was still being told about my next payment. This made no sense to me.
Overall, I am disappointed with the way HughesNet has handled this situation. I understand that mistakes can happen, but I expect a company to take responsibility for their errors and make things right. I hope that HughesNet will take the necessary steps to resolve this issue and prevent similar problems from happening in the future.
HughesNet Review: Terrible Service, Rude Customer Support, and Expensive Charges
This is the worst thing I've done in years, folks. We moved to an area where internet is limited and this seemed to be the only option. Four adults in the house and three use a large amount of data. I was assured we would have more than enough speed and data for the four of us. But let me tell you, they lied through their teeth. We can go through 50 Gig in a few days. The extra 50 between 2 am and 8 am can get used just as quickly. I couldn't come close to watching a streaming show. Still can't. I have to monitor the usage constantly to avoid the extremely expensive charges for additional data. It's a real pain in the neck, let me tell you.
Their customer service is useless and rude. I mean, come on, folks. If you're going to offer a service, at least have the decency to provide some decent customer service. But no, they're just a bunch of rude folks who don't care about their customers. It's really frustrating, especially when you're paying good money for a service that doesn't even work properly.
In short, don't do it. If you try and find real reviews for this company you'll find yourself constantly pushed toward Hughes net patting themselves on the back. It's like they're trying to hide something, you know? Like they know their service is terrible and they're trying to cover it up. It's really shady, folks.
Being in the middle of moving, buying a house and selling a house, I couldn't really focus on researching these creeps. At the moment it will cost over $600 to cancel them. Can you believe that, folks? Over $600 just to cancel a terrible service. It's absolutely ridiculous. These folks are nothing but a bunch of thieves, if you ask me.
I've attached a picture of my router as proof of having a severe case of stupidity. I mean, who in their right mind would sign up for this terrible service? Don't make the same mistake I did, folks. Stay far, far away from HughesNet.
Unhappy with Hughesnet: Filing Complaints with State and Federal Agencies
I've been a Hughesnet customer for a few months now, and I have to say, I'm not impressed. In fact, I'm so unhappy with their service that I've gone ahead and filed complaints with several different agencies and individuals.
First, I tried filing a complaint with the Texas Attorney General's office. Unfortunately, they told me that they couldn't address individual complaints, but they did say that they keep an eye out for trends and might take action if they notice something amiss. So, if you're having issues with Hughesnet, it might be worth reaching out to your state's AG.
Next, I decided to send a copy of my complaint to my State Representative's office. I've been in touch with one of their local assistants, and they're doing their best to help me find other agencies that might be able to assist.
After that, I filed a complaint with my Congressman. I'm not sure if they'll be able to do anything, but it's worth a shot.
Finally, I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). They have a consumer protection division that handles cases like this, so hopefully they'll be able to help.
Oh, and I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Unfortunately, I didn't have the right address for Hughesnet, so the BBB sent my complaint to their office in Maryland.
Overall, I'm just really disappointed with Hughesnet. Their service is slow and unreliable, and their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. If you're thinking about signing up with them, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
Terrible Internet and Heartless Customer Service: My Experience with HughesNet
HughesNet was installed at my boyfriend's house in NC for when I visit from another state. The internet service was terrible from the start. We could only use it until about 5pm and then it would buffer. We couldn't stream movies or videos, nor could we do a simple Google search. We don't even use a third of the data given on the plan and in that one year have never come close to going over.
To make matters worse, my boyfriend recently passed away from covid and HughesNet would not let me cancel the contract. I live in another state and already have internet service, but I was locked into a two-year agreement. To get away from this company, I chose to pay the early termination fee of $235. Now, I have to drive three states away just to get the equipment out of the house before the family, who also live in other states, goes through probate.
I strongly advise staying away from this company. The internet is terrible. I don't know if they've oversold what they can handle, but do yourself a favor and don't get locked into this nightmare!
Disappointing Experience with HughesNet: Lack of Transparency and Poor Customer Service
I recently had an experience with HughesNet that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I was excited to sign up for their internet services, but was not made aware of the 24-month contract that I was agreeing to. This was not communicated to me despite my inquiries prior to setting up the services.
Unfortunately, my experience only got worse from there. When I decided to cancel my services after only two months, I was shocked to find out that the early termination fee was not the $490.00 that I was originally quoted, but a whopping $790.00! This felt like a complete ripoff and left me feeling taken advantage of.
When I tried to dispute the fee, I was met with resistance from the Account Management Specialist that I spoke with. They became irate with me when I told them that I would not pay the fee and only wanted to return their equipment. I even recorded the conversation, but was told that their ID was confidential and that they would not accept anything from me except payment.
I was left feeling frustrated and helpless, but I refused to give up. I informed them that I would be retaining a lawyer to help move things along if they did not give me the information to return the equipment. It was only then that they finally agreed to cooperate.
Overall, my experience with HughesNet was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend doing business with them, as their lack of transparency and poor customer service left me feeling cheated and frustrated.
Cancelling hughes internet service
My brother passed away on June 4 2021. The months after that were stressful, trying to get everything in his life straightened out and cancelling out services that he had set up. There were quite a few of them. He was very involved in things he truly cared about. The one service that gave me the most trouble was Hughes Net. I informed them within four weeks after his death of needing to cancel his service. They continued to bill his account for 3 more periods after that. They refunded one charge. Then four weeks after that I noticed another charge on the account. I called them up and their answer was "that is a legal charge". I do not care that it was a legal charge it was an immoral and unethical charge. They are the worst company I had to deal with after my brothers death. It took until November that year to be rid of them. I pray no one has to deal with them after losing a loved one. They have no concern for the trauma you are going through. The lack of empathy for grieving individuals is truly sad.
Desired outcome: To stop as many people as possible from becoming subscribers to their service. For the company to repay customers whom they wronged in such an unethical and immoral business practice.
Service
I called today and spoke with Angel to cancel my service. The service will not work at my address the internet is slow and frequently will not work. We called previously with this complaint and the cancellation department made changes to our plan and stated it would work better now. I received a bill doubling the cost of my original bill and the internet still will not work as the service is to slow. Angel stated she looked at the last complaint and the internet usage was too high, so the internet service slows down when the data plan runs out. I explained to her this is the 4th day of the month and I have plenty of data left in my plan and I am still experiencing the same issues. She said it was a $355 cancellation fee due to the contract I signed. I explained I never signed a contract and asked her to provide a copy of the signed contract and I would be happy to pay her fee. She stated she was unable to do that, and I could go on their website and look at their terms and conditions. I explained the lady who signed up the account told me I could cancel the service at any time if I was not happy with it when I expressed my concerns of living rural and the internet not working properly. I asked to speak with a manager, and she said there was no manager she was the only one I could talk to, I asked for the corporate office phone number and she said there isn't one. She was rude kept interrupting me and said she was sorry but there was nothing she could do. I asked her to remove my autopay from the account as I was not authorizing them to debt anymore money from my account as I was canceling the service they are not able to provide and she kept saying she was switching me to a paper bill which is an additional fee. I explained I was canceling my service and removing my autopay therefore I wont need a paper bill.
Desired outcome: I would like to express my extreme dissatisfaction in the service to the manager/corporate office and cancel my service without paying this bogus cancellation fee. What I was told is not what was provided.
