Room overbooked, no rooms available despite booking in advance through Booking.com
Booking.com Reference Number: [protected]
I booked a room at this hotel for the 16.4.24-17.4.24 through Booking.com and paid £95.00 via my credit card.
When I arrived at the hotel reception I was told that their computer had overbooked the rooms a room was not available for me.
I had just had a tiring flight from Cyprus, I'm a single 66 year old woman, I had heavy luggage which noone helped me with the taxi driver just dumped it outside the hotel entrance and then I had to wait for a reception staff person to come and open the doors.
Understandably I was very angry and uspet about not having a room, particularly as I had taken the trouble to book the room at the hotel in advance on 8 February 2024.
I then had to wait in reception while the reception staff found a room in another hotel in Luton and booked a taxi to take me there. They said that the cost of the taxi and hotel in Luton would be covered by Holiday Inn. I was gobsmacked! It was my money that they were using that I had paid in advance for a room at the Holiday Inn. They made out they were doing me a favour when in fact they had totally inconvenienced me and made me feel quite ill. I suffer from heart problems anxiety and depression.
It was about 1am in the morning. It was very inconvenient and annoying.
I would like to know will Booking.com refund me for this very stressful and upsetting situation I found myself in through the incompentence of the Holiday Inn booking computer/reservation staff. I am sure it's not all done by computer!

Claimed loss: £94.15 + £100 for the stressful inconvenience.
Desired outcome: An apology, a refund and compensation.

Conveniently located, superbly priced and wonderfully staffed. Full breakfast, and full dinner. Did I mention free beer on tap? Save your company money and personal aggravation of driving in Northern Va. Absolutely wonderfully staffed, pleasant, well appointed, and scores very high on Trip Advisor for a reason(s). Did I mention free beer?

Excellence at it's best! Holiday Inn Yorkdale
I have had the opportunity to deal with this hotel for the planning of a 4 day conference and I cannot say enough. Kristen Ip has showed so much professionalism and dedication. She gets back to me right away and has made me feel that she has gone over and above to assist in the planning of this event. My team has had the opportunity to have one of our weekend meetings at this hotel and the welcome, the service, the food, the comfortable beds were outstanding. Thank-you Kristen and the team at Holiday Inn Toronto Yorkdale! I'm looking forward to our conference in the fall!
Failure to compete bookings correctly
So my daughter and I flew in from the west coast to st louis for a trade show the rooms were booked back in nov 2023 we came in checked in with no issues till 3 hrs after check in my daughter heard a knock on her door while in the shower and then sounds like someone was trying to enter her room. She threw on a towel and partialy cracked the door it was hotel manager asking who she was and who rented the room since it showed the room as vacant she gave my name and room number to them and the proceeded to come to my room mind you I was mappimg due to jet lag when my daughter started to blow up my phone in a panic. I answerd my door and was asked to go to the fromt counter which I did promply, I was greeted by the asst gm that asked me how I psid for my rooms and on what card (mind you I paid on doth rooms on check in with the same card) and I was asked for my card again I said no it was already verified on check ing and I informed them that it was all good but my daughter was in a total panic attack from there interaction at her room in notheing but a bath towel I kept calling the asst gm ihg she stated her names not ihg and that she will place both bookings on my room so that I pay accordingly on check out and how she will be there when I do check out, I took that as a treat and spent the rest of my night trying to find other accommodations but due to the event there was none avaliable at other facilities over the course of my stay I talked to desk members that asked if I was even offerd any compensations (I wasnt) and paid full price for our stay at full rate, I have been an ihg member for many years and travel all over the contry to cons and events as a retired us marine and retired fire capt nurse medic never have I felt so belittled and my daughter dont want to travel at all and shes taking over my company bad form she didnt even want to leave her room because she felt they were going to put her out on the streets 2200 miles from home I would give minus stars if that was an option
Recommendation: dont stay at holliday inn pay a few dollars more and stay in better hotels like motel 6 or comfort in or hilton

Holiday Inn discriminates against kids or blacks
My son goes to college in Florida and twice he has had problems at Holiday Inn during a hurricane. The first time was 2018 when I booked him a room for a hurricane and after a couple of nights, the day the hurricane was hitting the area, he was told he needed to check out. It wasn't because the room was booked it was just because Holiday inn said so. When I called corporate they said the hotel had plenty of rooms so my son misunderstood. Thank God I was able to get him out of the area.
Then, since I am stupid I made the mistake this year and booked him a room at another Holiday in Orlando. I paid extra so the reservation could be changed as the hurricane path changed. He went to check-in and was told he can not because he is 20 years old. I spoke on the phone to the person at the desk who said I should have asked the reservation line person if it's against the rules for his stay due to his age. I let the person at the desk know that I told the reservation person that he is a kid in school and running from the hurricane. She said good luck but not in this hotel and to top it off she let me know the hotel will charge me for the reservation. As I was booking him another hotel he called and let me know they let him check in because a good samaritan checked in for him but he had to pay cash for the room (luckily I had $500 in the account the room). So someone else's name was on the room but my cash was good enough (of course it had to come from the hotel ATM for a $10 surcharge) for him to stay in the room.
That makes twice I screwed up and the last time I ever use a Holiday Inn.
Damaged clothing in hotel dryer
Greetings.
I have an issue with Holiday Inn and I’m hoping someone can help me.
On Thursday, February 29, 2024 my family was traveling through Decatur, Texas. We stopped at Holiday Inn Express and Suites @ 1051 N Highway 287.
We rented 2 rooms for the evening. On our way to the elevator, we saw a professional washer and dryer for clothes in the hallway next to an ice machine. There were no signs on the walls, only a sign on the washing machine stating laundry costs $2.00 to run and the dryer would cost $3.00.
I washed a load of laundry. When the wash load was complete, I removed undergarments and 2 blouses that needed to be hung to dry. The rest I placed into the dryer and set my timer for 30 minutes because that is how long the digital timer on the dryer began counting. I went to hang my laundry up and came back 30 minutes later, waiting for the cool down cycle in the dryer to finish.
When I opened the door to the dryer, I saw that every garment in the machine was covered in a dark gummy residue. I immediately went to the lobby and showed the laundry to a young woman named Yesika who was managing the front desk. She apologized and told me that the hotel had had issues before because construction workers come in to rent rooms and they have building materials in their clothes. She then offered to wash my clothes again, but I declined, telling her that if this ruined my clothes, what would it do to the washing machine?
These were new clothes we purchased for this trip:
2 Guy Harvey Tee Shirts @ 29.99 = 59.98
2 Lee Cargo Shorts @ 32.00 = 64.00
2 pair of Jeans @ 24.99 = 49.98
1 Zipper Hoodie 29.99 29.99
1 pack of men’s underwear 24.00 24.00
1 packof mens socks 22. 22.00
1 package of women’s underwear 24.99 24.00
That is a cost of 273.95 in new and completely ruined clothing.
We left the next morning and I called back to the hotel while we were traveling. The manager Mark Cooke explained to me that when we rented the rooms for the night we signed a contract stating the hotel was not responsible for anything. But did I not have the legal expectation that a washer and dryer you are charging me to use would be in working order and/or not ruin my clothing?
Further, as Yesika pointed out, the hotel is aware that workers come through and have damaged the property before. Indeed, I told Yesika there was a black tar substance on the floor of the elevator. If there has been issues with the dryer before, why does Holiday Inn continue to allow guests to use the machines? It would have been better not to offer machines at all than to have a guest ruin 274. In new clothes.
I’m so disappointed. When we travel we always look for a Holiday Inn on Google Maps and book rooms in advance because we know you run quality establishments. My entire family is surprised that the manager did not offer to pay for these damages.
I'm including pictures of damaged clothing, your damaged clothes drier, and pictures of shoes of one worker who left them near the trashcan at the front enterance.
Your response is greatly appreciated.

Cleaning products
I recently checked into a Holiday Inn Express, and was very disappointed when I walked in the room and it totally REEKED of highly scented chemical cleaning products.
Many many people, myself included, are extremely sensitive/allergic to the chemicals used to scent the cleaning products. There are much better options for cleaning products and they are just as effective at cleaning.
I understand that many people equate fragrance with “freshness”, but the chemicals used to create these fragrances are highly toxic.
I hope you will look into this and remedy this very serious problem.
Thank you,
Sincerely, G.
Desired outcome: Use better, unscented, cleaning products

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to file a complaint against Holiday Inn Club Vacations regarding their recent sales pitch to us during our visit to Tahoe Ridge Resort. My wife and I were under the impression that the meeting would inform us about how Tahoe Ridge Resort would be run under Holiday Inn Club Vacations. Instead, we were bombarded with a sales pitch to join the Holiday Inn Club Vacations and buy into their new timeshare point system.
We were misled into believing that we would receive benefits and access to other Holiday Inn Club Vacations Resorts if we joined, but in reality, we were not part of Holiday Inn Club Vacations unless we bought into their program. We repeatedly stated that we were not interested in the new point system, but their sales personnel would not take "no" for an answer. We were kept at the meeting for three hours and felt pressured and uncomfortable throughout the entire experience.
The resort's proximity to the Heavenly Ski Resort and Tahoe beaches was highly exaggerated during our initial purchase. We have never seen the gondola running, and the resort's location has not brought us the convenience that was promised. Additionally, the furnishings in some of the buildings were old and worn, and we were occasionally placed in buildings we did not like due to location.
The real issue lies in our personal circumstances. My wife was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and has suffered two strokes, limiting her ability to travel and enjoy the resort. I am now on a fixed income, making it difficult to afford the monthly maintenance fees. If we no longer had the timeshare, we would free up over $400.00 a month, amounting to $4800.00 per year.
We feel that we have been taken advantage of by Holiday Inn Club Vacations and their personnel. We were misled during the initial purchase, and they continue to aggressively push their new point system despite our repeated objections. We demand that they release us from our timeshare contract and refund any fees that we have paid, as we can no longer afford the financial burden it has placed on us.
In conclusion, we hope that our experience can be a warning to other potential timeshare buyers and that Holiday Inn Club Vacations takes responsibility for their deceptive tactics and releases us from our contract. We will not be bullied or intimidated into paying for a service that we no longer desire or can afford.

My husband and I got approval to buy a car at 7:00 p.m. on 2-10-2024. We live in Eden, Georgia, so it was a bit over a six-hour drive. We arrived at the Holiday Inn Express at approximately 1:20 a.m. on 2-11-2024.
As I was checking us out on 2-11-2024 at 10:00 a.m., the receptionist told me "Shame you didn't check in on Sunday, it would've been half price because it's a slow day". I told her we did check in on Sunday after 1:00 a.m., she said, "Oh, I meant around 7:00 in the morning.
We were charged $279.00 plus taxes = 315.27. I've stayed in some nice hotels, but this was the most expensive, over 300$ a night.
My point being if we arrived on Sunday and left on Sunday then shouldn't we have been charged half price?
Upon checking my receipt, we were checked in on 2-10-24, we were not even there until 2-11-24.

To the Complaints Board, I am writing to file a complaint against Holiday Inn for their deceptive and misleading timeshare practices. The accommodations at this hotel were extremely disappointing, with the smallest room I've ever encountered. The bathroom door was so cramped that it wouldn't even open properly, and the toilet was inconveniently positioned, making it difficult to navigate. Our attempts to take a shower were thwarted by the appalling state of the facilities, which were in dire need of cleanliness.
It was disheartening to realize that for the same cost. The staff was exceptional friendliness.
Claimed loss: This was absolutely the worse Holiday Inn I've ever stayed at.
Desired outcome: Not only did I pay $463.76 before arriving. I had to pay an additional $95 upon check in. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone, as there are undoubtedly better options available in the vicinity.

On 5 October 2023, I mistakenly made a booking for Holiday inn Rochester New York, instead of Holiday Inn Rochester Kent UK. I phoned IHG worldwide reservations office and they told me that the reservation had been cancelled, but I had to phone priceline. When I phoned Priceline, I had to give my reservation number which they said they had no record of. I could not speak to a person, this was all automated. All of the front desk clerk, front desk manger, and hotel manager are friends and constantly gossip about housekeepers with the breakfast attendants. It is very uncomfortable work environment. Constant lying and gossiping my management. They share personal information of guests and employees, shared my medical document with other employee. Hotel manager makes everything difficult for me but easy for others. Steals tips and belittles everyone that's not in their group. We are adults and they do not act as such. It's ridiculous and unprofessional. Fort Payne Alabama Holiday Inn is express. There is much more ridiculous things happening to but I'm so tired of the harassment.
Desired outcome: Front desk and management be held responsible and terminated.
Elevator service out since May
It started in May we stayed for 2 days at the Holiday Inn at 21 Schuyler Blvd in Fishkill New York the problem was that the Elevator would not work for about 10-15 minuets which we accepted But we liked the hotel and the service people where great We needed an overnight stay on Sunday Sept 3rd so we made reservations again at the same hotel only to find that the elevator was now not working at all. We were booked on the 4th floor my partner is 80 years old and has trouble walking up the stairs The person at the desk was able to change it to a room on the second floor but he still had trouble walking up the stairs why is it taking so long to fix an elevator I feel that nobody cares I don't know if I will go back to that hotel when I will need a room even though I really liked the hotel.
There are a lot of other hotels in the area.
Fraudulent credit card charges while staying at a holiday inn
I provided my card for incidentals while staying at the holiday inn in southhaven ms. I stayed during the august 7 thru the 9th and should have only been charged the 39.44 for breakfast. However, I received charges of over $1,700 for periods I was not at the hotel. I have contacted the hotel and my credit card company to report these charges as fraud. These are some of the charges.
