We are filing complain against Cox Communications for a bait & switch scam to draw customers into plans that were not initially described in the details during the sales sign up session over the phone. We are now discovering after 6 months into the contract. Long story short, we were previous Cox customers and had switched to Direct TV. Direct TV was pulling some of the same tactics that we are experiencing now with Cox, so we sought to return to Cox. This company has got to be the worst company in the world! Two and a half months ago, my wife called Cox to switch our telephone, TV, and Internet services over to them and their "bundle" package deal. A week later a technician came to our house and informed us that there was not a "port" for them to hook to for our house, and they would need to put in a work order to have the cable port installed across our street, then they could hook us up. I said great, lets do it! Two months later, 16 - 20 calls, and at least 20 hours on the telephone waiting while they looked at our account...

This is the 2nd time I have been charged by Cox Communications with supposedly having services which obviously someone opened from an address I lived in 14 years ago and has used all my personal identification to do this.
I got a massive bill in 11/13 and Cox eventually apologized and agreed it was not my debt as i had not lived there for over 14 years and proved by tax bills and my bank statements that I had lived here in my only home since 9/2000 and they agreed and waived all fees.

I wish I'd learned about this site sooner, so that I could have expressed my displeasure much earlier.

Anyway, shortly after moving to this area, I let Cox seduce me into getting their "$25 cable / $25 phone / $25 internet" bundle promotion for my household, which consists of one other family with whom I've taken-up "transitory" residence who had already had Cox's most "bare-bones" cable TV service -- so in essence, the other family member would be paying a little bit extra for television service as a way of helping me get connected with...

Had Cox for a few years and it was an ongoing fight to watch their billing as it changed willy nilly on their part. After you sign up for a product package they start taking away TV channels such as Hallmark. Then they try to make you rent more boxes in order for you to continue to get Turner Classic movies on the other remote TVs throughout the house.


We finally said enough is enough is enough is enough and went to Century Link. Far better service, Many more great channels, less cost etc.


Lastly when I called to discontinue, they were to send me a box...

Well it began on Friday night when my mom decided to purchase internet service. We called the sales department and placed an order and paid the 30 dollar install fee. I would NEVER recommend cox to anyone. My service has been terrible since the day my "deal" was up and had to start paying full price for the package. They don't remember anything there... like how my services were supposed to be cancelled on the 15th and it's now the 25 and my bill is full price. This is ridiculous!
I even went thru the whole they are going to offer me more deals because of my wanting to cancel.
I'm outraged with them. I hated the service.
They have just informed me that I have to contact sales to get my service cancelled again......

Visited one evening by door-to-door salesmen telling me that if I signed up for Cox phone service in addition to my Internet service, I could get a free modem upgrade. They insisted that I only had to keep the service for six months and then the modem would be free. They told me the total price of the offer over the six months were less than what it would cost me to buy the modem from Best Buy (which it mostly was.) 3/27/12 First repair response ------- Advised that monthly billing would be reduced from $120. to $92.46 per mo. Replaced splitter
Experienced continued problem with reception momentarily blacking out
4/1/12 Second repair response --------approx 6pm A second splitter (outdoors) replaced and installed lg. black box.

McLAfee Security Suite provided though DIX is garbage. Apparently unfinished and containing bugs. Mine updates several times a day and a pop-up appears in my lower right corner throughout the day stating "Your Computer is at Risk" Proceeding, I'm further told, "Real Time Scanning is Turned Off". Every attempt to turn it on fails as it turns itself off quickly afterward. MVT is a waste of time. After running it, I'm told I have several unresolved threats and then I'm led to a sales page where I'm offered to purchase their regular security suite. What a joke....

I brought in a converter box to upgrade to a DVR converter box for a Standard Definition television. The old converter box has 2 in/out connections on the back for your television and your DVD player. I asked for a DVR converter box that would also hook up to my DVD player. After 3 yrs of interupted phone service, and multiple complaints to Cox, I was promised a replacement box on my home. Regardless of the fact that this may not have solved the problem, a tech came to my home without the replacement equipment. Cox recently charged me $2.82 per minute for several international calls to the tune of $750. I was told later that if I had an international plan costing $1.99/mo, my reate would have only been $0.05 per minute. I appealed to Cox and was denied. Cox cut my service several times while I was supposedly on hold, and gave me terrible customer service.
