Citibank Citi bank closed for no reason after 20 years for no reason

I was with Cal Fed since I was 16 years old then Citi Bank bought them, I have had the same checking account number for over 40 years. I have never had a returned check I have never done anything wrong, and I just got a notice with no explanation that they are closing my account. I tried calling customer service and they could not give me any reason. I am very upset and want to hire an attorney to sue them. There is no justification for this, and they never sent anything in the mail. I went online to pay something, and I saw a tiny little red sentence under my account that stated you have a notice. I clicked on it and found a notice they will be closing my account on March 9th.

Citibank Closed my Home Depot account because I got hit on my credit score

Sounds like we are all in the same boat with Citibank. They said the randomly checked my credit score and found out I was hit due to a divorce. Card balance was zero. Never late, always paid on time, and had a large limit. Now I have to find another avenue to help with my business. This is totally unfair and I never received a letter or anything. Boycott Citibank and keep our monies here in the states.

Closed my Home Depot account because I got hit on my credit score

Citibank Poor, poor customer service

This company needs to have people you can actually talk to when you have a question. I have tried multiple times today to talk to a person and have not been successful. I am withdrawing all of my money if I can ever get someone to help me. This is really poor customer service. Also they of course do not charge you to deposit your money, but if you want to withdraw, you have to pay for a wire transfer.

Citibank Credit on my account of $15,000 & will not refund my money!

There was a duplicate payment on my credit card back in July, due to I figured it was lost so I issued another check.( I was not delinquent on my account at anytime ever) They cashed the check & then back dated the "lost" check to reflect when it was actually cashed. Both payments were posted July 24th & July 28th I requested a refund of my $15,000 on August 4th & August 7th & said it would be directly deposited to my checking account in 5 business days. This is now August 16th & I called & they informed me that they would review returning my money after August 21st! She then informed me that they were going to report me to the credit bureau as not being reasonable! WTH It was not a debt BUT a credit!

Citibank Unreliable and Unresponsive: My Terrible Experience with Citibank's Online Banking Service

This bank is not a good choice for anyone looking for a reliable and efficient online banking service. I had a terrible experience with Citibank and it took me several weeks and countless phone calls and emails to finally get my deposited money back. I was so frustrated with their poor customer service that I had to file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Better Business Bureau, and FDIC before they finally responded.

I was not alone in my experience, as I read many reviews on various websites where customers shared similar stories of frustration and disappointment with Citibank. It seems that this bank has a reputation for being unresponsive and difficult to deal with. They rarely answer the phone and when they do, customers are often put on hold for over an hour only to be disconnected or left without any follow-up.

It's unfortunate that Citibank lures customers in with attractive offers such as opening a savings or checking account and receiving a $300 bonus after keeping a deposit for 3 to 5 months. However, once you're trapped with their poor service, it's not worth the hassle.

Citibank Disappointing Service from Citi Priority Call Center in the Philippines

I recently got a letter from Citi asking me to call them at ***871. They said that their department was available 24/7. As a Citi Priority customer, I was excited to get in touch with them. I called the number and was connected to their call center in the Philippines. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the service I received.

The representatives at the call center lacked product knowledge and had poor diction. They were unable to resolve my issues, and I had to call them approximately 16 times. To make matters worse, they disconnected the call over a dozen times or simply canceled the call saying they could not speak with me. As a result, I have no online access to my money, and the call center is a complete waste of time.

Citi Priority advertises a dedicated service team, but they do not deliver. Their unprofessional behavior is outrageous. They ask me to contact them at ***871, but when I do, they refuse to assist me as a client. It is unbelievable and unacceptable.

I hope that Citi can improve their customer service and provide better support to their clients. As a loyal customer, I expect better treatment and service. I hope that my feedback will help them improve their service and provide better support to their clients.

Citibank Review: Citibank's Online Platform - Easy to Use with Great Customer Service

I recently had an experience with Citibank and their online platform, citibankonline.com. I must say, it was quite an interesting experience. I found this to be a little complicated, as it involved the clinic and the surgery hospital. I believe the bank should have taken care of this matter themselves.

Despite this, I appreciate the way Citibank handled the situation. They were professional and courteous throughout the process. I must say, their practice is quite similar to what would happen if a bank mistakenly transferred billions of dollars to a customer. The court would not be able to help the bank get back the money, and the bank would have to talk to the customer to return the money. In my case, Citibank did just that.

Citibank Review of Citibank Online: Good Bank with Some Website Issues

Citibank is a bank that has been around for a long time. They have a website called citibankonline.com that you can use to do your banking. I have used this website for a while now and I think it is pretty good. However, there are some things that I don't like about it.

One thing that really bothers me is that sometimes my account balance is wrong. I don't know why this happens, but it is really frustrating. Another thing that bothers me is that sometimes the website is slow. It takes a long time to load and it can be really annoying.

Despite these issues, I think that Citibank is a good bank. They have a lot of branches all over the country, so it is easy to find one near you. They also have a lot of ATMs, so you can get cash whenever you need it.

One thing that I really like about Citibank is that they have a lot of different types of accounts. They have checking accounts, savings accounts, and even credit cards. This makes it easy to find the right account for your needs.

Overall, I think that Citibank is a good bank. However, there are some issues with their website that need to be fixed. If you are looking for a bank, I would recommend giving Citibank a try.

Citibank Disappointing Experience with Citibank: Cancelled Card, Locked Out of Account, and Delayed Pay Release

I had a recent experience with Citibank that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I had requested a new card from them, but to my surprise, they cancelled my current card without any prior notice. This caused me to be locked out of my online banking account, which was a major inconvenience. When I called to inquire about the situation, I was told that it was their policy and that I could not escalate the issue to receive any priority listing.

To make matters worse, when I logged into my Citibank account today to pay some bills, I noticed that my pay had not been released into my account. I have been receiving pay from my employer into this account since 2021, so I was confused as to why this was happening. After trying to find out why my funds had not been released, I was told that the business may not comply with their regulations. This was frustrating to hear, as I had never encountered this issue before.

After much back and forth with Citibank, they informed me that they would have to manually review the transaction and that it may be sent back to the originating bank account. When I requested to make a formal complaint about the situation, I was told that it wouldn't make a difference and that it would still be Monday before they could look at the complaint. This was incredibly disappointing to hear, as I felt like my concerns were not being taken seriously.

Overall, my experience with Citibank has been quite miserable. I am seriously considering terminating my relationship with this bank, as I do not feel like they value their customers or take their concerns seriously. I hope that they can improve their customer service in the future, as I would hate for others to have to go through the same frustrating experience that I did.

Citibank Deceptive Advertising and Poor Customer Service: My Experience with Citibank's Cashback Offer

This company, Citibank, claims to offer 1% cashback on charges and an additional 1% when paid, but that's not entirely true. I check my account daily and pay all charges in full, but I don't see the cashback as advertised. When I spoke to their representative, "John," he told me that the cashback is given at the end of the billing cycle, which is not what they advertise. It's deceptive advertising, and it's not right.

To make matters worse, when I chatted with their representative online, he gave me the same stock answers he gave to another customer, "Donna," who has been a customer for many years and is also unhappy. He even started sending me messages meant for Donna, which was confusing and frustrating.

While the card isn't important to me, I won't cancel it because it would affect my credit rating. However, I will make sure to share my experiences with others so they can make an informed decision about using Citibank's services.

Citibank Unsatisfactory Customer Service and Disputes: My Experience with Citibank

I've been using Citibank for a couple of years now, but I've had some issues with their customer service and the services they offer. In fact, I've recently applied for a Chase bank card so I can close my Citibank card. Here are some of the problems I've encountered:

Firstly, I would strongly advise against setting up automatic online balance payments with Citibank. I had a terrible experience where they debited my bank account twice in one week for the same amount. When I contacted customer service, they denied doing this and refused to reimburse me for the overdraft penalty from my bank. It was a frustrating experience, to say the least.

Secondly, I had a dispute with an online store called Best Yoga Store (BYS) that provided low-quality merchandise that didn't match the description. When I submitted the dispute to Citibank, they didn't seem to care about protecting the customer. In fact, they settled the dispute in favor of BYS, even though the information/response provided by the merchant was not specific to my complaint. There was no proof of the quality of the merchandise they shipped, yet Citibank accepted their response and requested that I obtain an evaluation of the merchandise from a third-party merchant. This seems like an unreasonable request to me, and it only supports online scams and fraud, not their customers.

Aside from these issues, there are other disadvantages to being a Citibank customer. For example, the phone waiting times can be very long (15-20 minutes at times), and they offer lower credit lines that can affect your FICO score if the proportion of balance to credit limit is higher. So, if you're considering Citibank, be aware of these potential problems.

Citibank Terrible Experience with Citibank's Online Platform and Customer Service

I recently had a terrible experience with Citibank and their online platform, citibankonline.com. My mother's credit card was suddenly stopped, and when I called to inquire about it on March 2, 2023, I was told that it was due to late payments and stopped checks in the last 6 months. However, I knew that my mother had never been late with her payments and that the checks were sent by a 3rd party. In fact, I had stopped one of the checks by mistake and the other didn't have the full account number, so I stopped it again. Despite this, everything was always paid on time.

I was told that the Credit Department would investigate and get back to us in 7-10 business days. However, on March 14, 2023, my mother received a letter stating that her account was closed due to late payments and stopped checks. I spent half a day trying to get someone to help me, speaking with about 6 different reps, some of whom claimed to be supervisors. Unfortunately, none of them tried to help in a reasonable way. Instead, I was told to send a letter (not an email, but a paper envelope and a stamp) explaining the situation, and then they would investigate (again).

I was extremely disappointed with Citibank's customer service. It seemed like they didn't care about their clients, even seniors who had been loyal customers for over 20 years. It was a disgraceful experience, and I would advise anyone to avoid Citibank's credit card like the plague.

During my conversations with Citibank reps, I also mentioned that the statements that users can download do not match the information displayed online. This is a serious bug, but they completely ignored it. It's frustrating to see such a lack of attention to detail and customer service from a bank that is supposed to be reputable.

Citibank Terrible Customer Service Experience with Citibank's Costco Card

I recently had an experience with Citibank's customer service and I have to say, it was not good. While the first representative I spoke to was very polite and helpful, the manager I was transferred to, named Luke, was a complete disaster. I have never experienced such terrible customer service in my life.

My issue was with my Citibank Costco card. Every time I use it, I receive a fraud alert and my card is locked. This has been happening consistently for the past few weeks and it's getting out of hand. When I first received the card, I never had to verify charges, so I'm not sure why this is happening now. I asked Luke if he could look into it further and find a solution, but he refused and told me that I was going around in circles and that nothing would be good enough for me. He even said "you're good to go" and hung up on me. I was shocked and disappointed by his lack of empathy and emotional intelligence. It was like talking to a robot.

I don't want Luke to get fired, but I do hope he gets some management training on how to handle customer complaints. I also want to warn others about my experience. If you're thinking about getting the Costco Citibank credit card, don't. It's a waste of time and money. And if you do have issues with your card, don't expect Citibank's customer service to be helpful.

To make matters worse, after my conversation with Luke, I received another fraud alert call from Citibank's fraud department. They were asking me to verify the same charges I had already verified five times that day. It's like they don't want me to use my card at all. I'm starting to think that Luke did this on purpose. This whole situation is absolutely ridiculous.

Citibank Disappointed with Citibank's Customer Service: Unable to Verify Identity without a Cellphone

So, I called the number on my credit card, which is through citibankonline.com's website. I won't say which store, because I have nothing bad to say about the store. I told them I'm planning to travel later this month and wanted to give them a head's up so they wouldn't think my card had been stolen by someone abroad.

At first, they seemed to appreciate my calling, but then things took a sinister turn. They said they'd have to send me a code to my cellphone for verification. I don't use a cellphone. I use a landline. My dad, who lives downstairs, also uses a landline. We're not a cellphone family.

They transferred me to the fraud department, and that was when I started to get a bad feeling. While on hold, I wanted to hang up but was suddenly afraid that I'd be accused of something.

"Hello. So, you don't use a cellphone?"

"No, I don't. I use landlines."

"Can you tell me your landline number?"

I told her both mine and my dad's, and they didn't match. (After I got off the phone, I logged in and discovered that my number on file is from years ago.)

"We can't verify your identity. We'll write you a letter."

"A letter? What am I going to do with a letter?"

"Just wait to receive the letter like a good little customer."

"But--I'm traveling! In a week!"

"Ma'am, are you saying you want to speak to someone other than me?"

"Oh, yes," I said... even though that hadn't been what I was saying. I ran with it, because why not?

Don, a supervisor, came on the phone. "You'll have to wait for Citibank to call you."

"When?"

"We often call right away," he said.

"Don't BS me. There's not going to be a call, is there?" I accused.

"Of course there will be a call," he said. "We'll call whichever number we have on file."

"Listen, Don, I was having a great day until this happened. I'm not a criminal. I've never committed any criminal acts. I even stop for every stop sign I encounter, as well as for ducks crossing. And by the way, so does Meg [last name]!" (I couldn't help but add that part.)

So I was treated like a criminal because I don't use a cellphone, and because they had an old phone number of mine on file, and because they couldn't be bothered to find some way to verify my identity.

It seems ironic that I bought the plane ticket with that credit card, and just a week ago. It's all part of this identity thief's con, everyone! [Facepalm.]

Overall, I was disappointed with Citibank's customer service. They seemed to be more interested in following their procedures than helping me out. It's frustrating that they couldn't find a way to verify my identity without a cellphone. I understand the importance of security, but they could have been more accommodating to my situation. I hope they can improve their customer service in the future.

The amount of $225,000 was wired to my account with Citibank on 03/14/2024 for the purpose of purchasing inventory, and consulting services. Citibank Late Fee

I am a retired, senior citizen, with limited funds. I have been working part time doing handyman work to keep up. I had a PAYMENT of $29.00 due on my HOME DEPOT CREDIT CARD on 3/12/24 and was not able to pay it until the next morning 3/13/24 when Funds were available through depost of SOCIAL SECURITY. I did not want to be overdrawn on my ENVISION CREDIT UNION ACCT or another acct. That is why the payment was one day LATE!

I would greatly appreciate forgiveness of this late fee and have the $29 late fee returned to my HOME DEPOT acct as a CREDIT.

Citibank Shell citibank credit card

I am retired and do long RV trips to visit family. I recently opened a Citibank Shell card because of the deal on gas. I could save 50 cents a gallon on the first several purchases. Citibank opened the account with a very low limit and on the trip, I went over the limit. I tried to make a payment to bring the balance below the limit and Citibank wanted me to accept terms that required me naming them as my attorney in fact and giving them a power of attorney, something I was not willing to do.

I also tried to get Citibank to raise my limit and they refused to do so but raised my limit on a Citibank Sears card by $5k that I do not use because sears has closed all of their stores near me.

Citibank refuses to provide any explanation for their stupidity, willing to raise the limit on Sears but not on Shell.

Desired outcome: Increase the limit on the Shell account to equal the current limit on the Sears account.

Citibank Credit cards

My account was closed with my knowledge when I called the representative said a replacement card was sent to me twice and the card was returned both times. Not by me I’ve been waiting for my new card. How is this my fault now I’m being told the rep gave me incorrect information and for other reasons my account was closed. What a bunch of BS Citibank!

Citibank CD misinformation

OPEN A CD with CITI is not on the home page because CITI does not show CDs on their internet page. CITI sends a letter with the CD information only asked 3 separate times for a confirmation letter but have never received one also to put or add beneficiary on the CITI CD you purchase online CITI will send a form letter by snell mail you must have notarized and snell mail it back to CITI has repeatedly asked for the beneficiary form but still has not received one.

Dear sir, I have negative comment in Citi bank after I tried to applying bank loan in the year 2015. I have contacted customer care in branch as well as by phone, but I could not get a proper response. Citibank unauthorized credit card charges

I was sent two Citibank Diamond Preferred cards ( one for me and one for my son Thomas), but never activated or used them. Despite that, I am being billed for the $7000 credit limit I asked them to establish on the account. Instead of setting a $7000 credit limit, they put a balance due of $7000 and started blling me on it! I made one payment on it to protect my rating and called to get it fixed. It still hasn't been fixed though. Please fix this before my credit rating is ruined.

Citibank Transfer Services

I tried for four days to transfer money from my Citibank account to another external account and they have put me in this constant loop requesting online and telephone validation/verification, which I have provided over and over again. All of the automation, bots, and direction to agents in the Philippines, India, and beyond have left me wondering if they think they are in control of my money and if I should consider a lawsuit for their incompetence and failure to comply with my request.

Citibank Credit card closure

I have been a loyal customer with citi bank since 1989. Never have been late on a payment and a stellar history with them. I also had a citi cash back card. During the covid pandemic I was hospitalized, lost my job and was going thru a divorce. Simply said I feel behind on the cash back account. However I called and explained my situation and was able to get on a payment program with then. Never dell behind and agreed upon payments have always been on time.

Much to my surprise I get a letter that they are closing my gold advantage card i've had since 1989 because i am a part of a payment program. I was shocked . Is this seriously how they treat customers that have been loyal for almost 35 years with a steller credit history. This will destroy my credit due to the $35,000 credit limit I have with them

Is there somebody that can help me

Citibank Return payment

On November 6, 2023, I mistakenly paid Citi Bank the payment amount of $1,325.15 a second time. I then called [protected] and after speaking with a representative and her supervisor, they promised to refund the erroneous payment to my Bank of America account (I provided the routing number and account number). Then I called 2 times to find out when my money would be returned. Today, 11/14/2023, when I finally expected to receive the money, the representative and his manager informed me that they were sending me a check instead of transferring the money to my account, which is faster and in accordance with the original agreement. I think administrative action is necessary to implement the agreement.

Citibank BEWARE: Checking Account Bonus Not Honored

I was targeted for a promotion with a cash bonus offering. Open a Citi Checking account, deposit X amount, follow A, B, & C, and receive the bonus after 60 days. Citibank did not honor their side. I deposited the funds and followed all of the instructions for redemption, and no bonus deposit was ever made.

When I called in to inquire, I got the run-around. Then a dispute was opened, and they kept 'resolving' my dispute by saying that there was no promotion ever offered, even when I mailed in a copy of the hard copy promotional flyer that was received. This has been going on for months. It's been a complete joke and a total waste of time.

Take your hard-earned money elsewhere and bank with a company that has integrity and honors their word.

Claimed loss: $2,500

Desired outcome: For the company to honor its word and deposit the bonus.

Citibank no explanation

Last Thursday (10/26/2023) I spent over 2.5 hours with Citibank and Discover.

I used one of your bank transfer checks and it was declined with Discover. A bill I paid on 10/18 and had no clue it had been declined with no call, email, letter or any explanation as to why!

I pay my bills on time and usually the full amount I had a great credit score until your bank has caused it to go down and I have absolutely no explanation as to why it was declined and not one of you multiple representatives could explain why.

This causing Discover to claim me as "delinquent" in paying bill!

As a customer and consumer I deserve to have a clear explanation as to why your bank has ruined my credit score and declined payment with no explanation to me!

Citibank Know your customer program abuse

I recently transferred my life savings to citibank, and they are now threatening to freeze my accounts if I do not provide them with documentaion of ALL my assets and sources of all my money. I explained to them I have been saving for 55 years and there is no one source, but they will hear nothing of it.

They are abusing me for an unknown reason, and I would like it to stop. They have NO right to demand information about any assets I have unrelated to my account. What has happened to the USA?

I made no suspicious transactions.

Desired outcome: Stop harrassment, review individuals responsible for harassing me, and tell me the reason they are harassing me.
