AAMCO Transmissions Transmission problem

Transmission was replaced by Garden City Aamco with 3 year warranty, brought it back for a shifting problem a year later, they started to fix it and the shop was closed and evicted. I picked the car up and took it to Huntington Aamco, it was diagnosed and they told me that Aamco Corp. Hdqters. will not honor warranty. Ro #2490, date 1/24/2023. 2014 Fiat 500L

AAMCO Transmissions 2008 ford focus serviced - install a transmission-cost: $2,200.00

February 24, 2023

Letter of Complaint

Attention Customer Service:

I am the owner of a 2008 Ford Focus, and during the early part of December, 2022, I had initially taken my car to the local Ford Dealership in Port Richey, Florida, who told me that I needed a transmission. I did not want to pay the amount they were asking for, so I had spoken with an AAMCO Representative named Howard, located at AAMCO-11612 Florida Ave, Tampa FL, 33612.

I explained to Howard exactly what the car was doing; stopping and slowing down while I am driving. There were times the car would stop, and wouldn’t allow me to go forward, although the engine was still running. After 10 and/or 15 minutes, the car would finally go forward. AAMCO assessed the car and like, Ford, determined that I needed a new transmission.

I had taken my car to AAMCO the latter part of December to allow them to work on my transmission. Since I worked in Jacksonville, Florida, Monday - Friday, I could only communicate with Howard via telephone. I also sincerely appreciate AAMCO allowing me to keep my car there for weeks, until I was able to pick up my car on Friday, February 3, 2023.

On February 3, 2023, I drove the car home 35 miles to Hudson, Florida. On Saturday morning, February 4, 2023, I had to attend a meeting in Tampa, Florida. While I was driving, the car continued to slow down, and stopped at least two times. I had to restart it, and drive with my emergency flashers on.

I then decided to try and drive to AAMCO before they closed at noon, since I was three miles away. The car stopped, and would not go forward. The engine was still running. I had to wait until 15 minutes before the car would go forward. Once I was able to drive the car, I pulled onto a dead end road, and called AAA. AAA tolled my car to AAMCO, and I parked it by the fence.

I then called, and left a voice message on Howard or AAMCO voice mail.

When I was able to verbally speak with Howard (left message several times) via cell phone, I explained to him what had happened, and he told me the problem was the key cylinder, steering column and/or the ignition switch. I continues to ask him how that effects my transmission causing the car to display the same behavior that I had originally brought it in for.

I would appreciate if an AAMCO Technician can reach out to me and explain (1) how the key cylinder was causing my car to slow down and stop, and not move forward at all while the engine is still on. And then I have to wait 10 or more minutes, before the car is ready to drive forward. (2) Why is the car displaying the same symptoms that I brought it in for and paid $2,200.00, and now AAMCO is asking me for another $745.00.

My car is currently at the shop.

Please review the following conversation: Yellow-AAMCO. Green - Oliver

February 3, [protected] hours-Howard)

“ HI OLIVER-ITS AAMCO-YOU CAN PICK UP THE CAR, WHEN YOU ARE READY. WE CLOSE AT 5:00 PM. OPEN TILL NOON ON SAT.

February 3, [protected]-Oliver)

On my way.

February 6, [protected]-Oliver)

Good morning Howard. I was driving the car to church in Tampa Saturday morning and it started stopping on me periodically. I was actually 3.5 miles from you guys when the car stopped. So I had it towed. I will drop the keys off around 10:30 am.

Wasn't for sure if the big red crate is where I was supposed to drop the keys.

February 8, [protected]- Howard)

HI OLIVER -ITS AAMCO- WE NEED 2 HOURS OF DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE- WE HAVE TO TAKE APART THE STERRING COLUMN FOR THE KEY, TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED, THAT ALSO GOES TOWARD THE REPAIRS, $ 330.00- LET US KNOW TY!

February 8, 2023 (Oliver)

Howard can you call me. I thought all this would be part of your warranty, or what you originally diagnosed initially. I picked the car up from you Friday, and had to have it towed to you on Saturday. It was doing the same thing prior to me having you all repair it. Am I now going to be charge for you guys to trouble shoot again? Please let me know- Please call me. Thanks

February 8, 2023 (Howard)

OK, GIVE ME A MINUTE, LET ME TALK TO ROSS.

HI OLIVER - AAMCO - I SPOKE TO ROSS, HE IS GOING TO HAVE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE FOR YOU, BUTS IT’S IN THE KEY CYLINDER, NOT THE TRANSMSSION, And ASAP I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT WE FIND.TY!

February 8, [protected]-Oliver)

Ok, Thank you

February 15, [protected] – Oliver)

Good morning Howard,

Checking on my 2008 Ford Focus? It had stopped on me one day after I picked it up. Please let me know the status. Thank you. Oliver

February 17, [protected]-Oliver)

Good morning Howard, I am still waiting to hear from you concerning the status of my Ford Focus 2008. Per our conversation, please let me know how the steering column, etc., affects the transmission. I brought the car into AAMCO because Ford Dealership and AAMCO told me that I needed a transmission. When I picked the car up from you on a Friday, the next day- Saturday, the car performance was doing the exact same thing. So I really appreciate you explaining the above because I'm ignorant concerning cars, but I am aware I can research. Thanks again.

February 20, [protected]-Oliver)

Howard, I haven’t heard back from you. Please let me know if you guys have trouble shoot or detected what going on with the transmission. Do you guys drive the vehicles after you repair them? Thanks. Oliver. Will call Tuesday morning.

February 22, [protected]-Howard)

Hi Oliver-- aamco update- we need to replace the lock cylinder housing assembly, parts & labor, $745.00 plus tax!

February 22, 2023 – (Oliver)

I will let you know. But how does that affect the transmission? The car was doing the identical thing prior to me bringing it to you? Thanks

February 22, 2023 – (1210-Oliver)

Howard, when the transmission was broken down, why wasn't I informed of this if this needed to be done? The car would not go forward

February 22, 2023 (Howard)

IF YOU WANT YOU CAN USE A SCREW DRIVER TO START THE CAR, IT’S UP TO YOU!

February 22, 2023 (Oliver)

I'm not shouting but I have every right to ask questions. The car was still running but the car was not moving.

February22, 2023 (Howard)

THE CAR MOVES SIR.

February 22, 2023 (Oliver)

Yea it does. But it had stopped on me, that Saturday and when I was able to drive it, I wouldn't and called AAA. The car was still running but would not go forward.

AAMCO Transmissions Transmission and customer service issues

We have had a terrible experience with the Lakewood, WA location. We are currently suing for breach of contract and loss of use as a direct result of the poor service and long wait times for communication and work to be done. This location also reported the incorrect odometer reading to Carfax causing our vehicle to be red flagged for potential odometer rollback as well as causing devaluation.

The first time we brought our truck to this location was 10/08/21.

They installed a transmission for us after the assessment that ours could not be rebuilt. We picked it up a couple of weeks later and by 11/04/21 the newly installed transmission failed and it needed to be towed back to Aamco.

Again, we waited some time and drove away with what we thought was a truck made whole again.

On 12/22/22, the 2nd transmission failed. This time we had it towed to the Vancouver WA location due to proximity and the frustration with the service in Lakewood. During the next (2) weeks, it took several calls and in person visits to get them to give the authorization and order for yet another transmission as the Vancouver location was not able to warranty work done elsewhere.

The vechicle was not completed until 01/26/23.

During this whole process, we have continuously been given the run around and been given information which we found to be incorrect. The customer service was incredibly unprofessional and rude at the desk in the Lakewood location. The authorization and ordering of the 3rd transmission should not have taken anywhere near 2 weeks. We were very grateful that someone along the way put a rush on our order and it did not take the full 3 weeks as it usually does one built and shipped.

The poor service has taken place on several occasions and we want others to be well aware of what they are getting into when this Lakewood, WA location.

Desired outcome: We would like:1. A response to our poor treatment by the staff at the location in question2. Compensation for the devaluation and loss of use3. An apology for us having to do their work on follow up between locations

AAMCO Transmissions Transmission repair shop

I brought my vehicle in my tow truck I have pictures of when it was dropped off it was not damaged when I picked it up the axles dislodged sideways the damage was done from a lift and correctly placed when I lifted the vehicle off the ground and it bent the suspension and just watch the axle sideways and ruined my vehicle they will not on up to it or fix it and they blame me for wrecking the vehicle before it got there even though I have proof that there was no damage done to the suspension until they touched it.

Desired outcome: Want them to pay for the parts they damaged and the labor to put it on they wouldn't even consider it.

AAMCO Transmissions Radiator replacement

In June of 2021, I was working in FL and I had my car towed to an Aamco in Orange Park, Florida to get the radiator replaced. The address to that branch is 356 Blanding Blvd Orange Park, FL 32073. I spoke to someone named Sean or Lee (can't remeber which) and I signed for them to work on my car on June 16th at 10:30am and they had it fixed by June 21st. It is worth noting that I am from MS and I travel all over the US for work. When I took my car in, the only thing I needed replaced was the radiator, but the front desk guy told me I had to also have a new compressor and I asked them to go ahead and change the oil as well. They finally called and said my car was ready. At the time, I had been in Virginia working so I drove 8 hours in a rental to get my car. Not even ten minutes into driving, I realized the air conditioner did not work. I was supposed to be back in VA before the next day, so I told the guy I could not bring the car back because he said I would have to leave it, and I could not do that because I need my car to work. So he said I had a warranty and should be able to go to any Aamco to get it fixed. However, the local Aamco's were short on staff and said they were only changing transmissons. So I gave up and just drove the entire summer with no air because between my job and financial issues, there was no way I could fit that in. Plus at the time, that was the only issue I found with my car. Fast forward to now, January 18th, it was way past time for an oil change, so a friend of mine let his Uncle change my oil. However, it took them 2 hours to get my hood open because the people at Aamco apparently disconnected the thing that pops my hood. And the bumper was not all the way on. It was hanging off. I went in with one problem and now have three because those mechanics fixed my radiator in a sloppy way. Now, I pray my hood doesn't pop up and fly off because it is not hooking to anything because they somehow disconnected it. and the front bumper is just hanging off. And it will be summer again soon and my air conditioner still doesnt work. I refuse to pay to get it fixed because neither of these things were a problem before I took my car to Aamco. If I pay thousands of dollars to get something fixed, I expect it to be fixed not half fixed with more problems added. I am very upset and expect a reasonable resolved.

Desired outcome: I would like an apology, and also either a check to get these issues fixed or a refund.

This aamco facility in laurel md (store nr 13163) where I have been taken my vehicles to for over 10 yrs for service, since the old manager departed who was professional and well knowledged, and inside this new manager is just the opposite, and rude and harsh in how he speaks with customers, and it's always not his fault for anything... He blames the mechanic for having a heart attack, due to my vehicle sitting for more than 3 weeks and not contact, to me the customer, about the status, of the vehicle, then it's the flat tire, and the expired tag on the vehicle so he wasn't able to ck the transmission out for the reason it was brought ninto shop by towing..., I have had issues like what occurred on this past friday, when the manager tells me why he hasn't contacted me about my vehicle in his shop. Please someone intervened and assist with this matter, I have no more patients with this shop / manager in getting my vehicle under warranty repaired. Please call me immediately.

Dear Mr. _______,

I am requesting you provide me copies of the work estimates generated by AAMCO and signed by me for the inspection of, and replacement of the transmission, transfer case and drive shaft on the 2010 Lincoln MKZ.

The customer service rep read the letter but refused to sign he had received it.

The letter was sent on 12/27 via registered mail with a return receipt. The receipt has not yet been received,

This letter was sent to the AAMCO Franchise owner on 12/29.

We have communicated via Text.

On 12/29 I sent the following Letter of Intent To Sue

Letter of Intent-to-Sue

December 29, 2022

Owner, AAMCO Store

845 N Military Trail, Ste 1

West Palm Beach, FL 33415

Dear Mr. _______,

This Letter of Intent-to-Sue is being sent to you following up on my letter emailed to you on December 27, 2022 regarding the repair of my 2010 Lincoln MKZ and a series of text messages.

Specifically, I have over paid for parts acquired by ______, the total number of labor hours and, I believe, the labor rate charged.

I have not received an estimate from Mr _____ that I have signed, but the prices below were obtained from Auto Zone:

• Transmission Assembly, $2,529.00

• Transfer Case, $1,639.99

• Drive Shaft, $629.99

For a total estimated parts price of $4,231.99. I have independently had pictures taken of my MKZ (which I would be pleased to provide to you) and can confirm a new or reconditioned transmission and drive shaft have been installed. The transfer case appears to have been acquired from a Junk Parts Yard. Let’s assume for $200.

The total revised estimated parts price is $3,055.99.

I have made 4 payments to AAMCO as follows:

• Wells Fargo Credit card, 11/22, $1,559.25

• Wells Fargo Credit card, 11/25, $1,559.25

• Valley Bank cashier’s check, $4,341.38

• Wells Fargo, cashier’s check, $1,250.00

For a total of $8709.88.

I do not know how many labor hours were charged or the labor rate, but the total is excessive. $4,476.89 at $50/h is 89h. Does this appear to be reasonable? No.

Some deleted text.

Mr. ______, I am prepared to pay $3,055.99 for the parts but I need 2y/24,000 mile warrantees on the Transmission Assembly and Drive Shaft.

On labor and labor rates, 40h at $40/h totals $1,600, for a total bill of $4,655.99.

Based on these estimates, I should be refunded $4,053,89.

The BOTTOM LINE: This is probably not the first time Mr, _____ has overcharged a client for AAMCO services.

Before proceeding with this, I would like to fully understand your position, answer your questions and provide back-up documentation

$

Sincerely,

_____________

The owner has responded with a letter and copies of some documents that are not a signed estimate or estimates, or the final invoice.

Desired outcome: I am looking for a refund of $4,053.89 and 2y/24,000 mile warranties on the transmission and drive shaft

AAMCO Transmissions Problem still not fixed. Rude cust service and now I have body damage to my truck. Not the great cust service I expected. Beyond appalling.

WOW!

I'm appalled!

Brought my truck to you because of the Nationwide warranty. Brought it to your dealer to have the rear main seal on the motor and oil pan to be addressed. Was quoted 800 to 1200 for that. 2 days after I drop it off, Levante calls and say theres been a mis quote and its now 2400. He went back and forth about the transmission leaking and need to be flushed, Which was not what I brought it to you for. So knowing the trans is leaking now. He says lets just knock off the service and seal that needs replaced to make the bill 1400. I said the service was cheaper than replacing the trans so lets do the service. But had an issue with the fact they quoted me 800 to 1200 to do the original work I brought it to you in the first place. So we settled on 1700 and I okd the work. There was a calll about cutting the exhaust and another about replacing the break line wich wasnt leaking to begin with. Mo the owner?. called after I was rudly hung up on by Levante. and said he had the line fixed and there would be no charge. So, 8 days later I get a call and was told the truckk is done and I can come pick it up. I get there and pay the 1700 and take the truck 5 minutes up the road to my house. As I get out of the truck I see the dammage to the gas filler area on the drivers side rear flare. Its a dullay. I call and went directly back to the shop to let moe see the dammage. He said he'd review his cammeras and call by 9am tomorrow. So again I drive back to the house only to smell the burnning oil smell I had before and I looked under the truck to see the oils still leaking and the original problem I brought it to you in the first place was indeed still dripping. reciepy reflects M&M Integrity. 2801 rucker ave. Everett Wa. 98201... Reciept Number 1006247 Again, I say. I brought my truck to you in confidence that I would get the service your name is suposed to stand for. Now I have the problem I brought it to you with still and now Damage to the body.

Desired outcome: Fix what I brought it to you for in the first place through another dealer.Repair the damages caused while there for the 8 days.Fire the incompetents. and restore your good name.I want to hear from someone now please.Brian Sharp239-302-7668

AAMCO Transmissions Transmission rebuild

I dropped my truck off at the AMCO in Bristol on dorm road 10/12/22.

I spoke with the manager Sam, he evaluated the transmission and said it would be around $800 Low end $1000 high end. I had a small knock in my engine he said he would replace a rocker arm and rods to fix it, I agreed to the price of $400. I spoke with Sam a few times about when the service will be done, he informed me a few days. I spoke back with several days later where he had told me my transmission would be $1800 Which is double the price he quoted me at. I called several times throughout the weeks, he avoided my calls, said he was in meetings and would call me back. It wasn't until my girlfriend called and asked for him that he answered, actually gave me a call. I paid my bill and thought I was done with the situation. I recently picked up my truck, drove it home. The engine still knocking so I parked it in my driveway and Transmission fluid was pouring out. I called Sam, he sent attack over to check it out, could not find a problem. I parked a truck, woke up the next day to another puddle of transmission fluid. Called Sam again sent him pictures he told me it was coming from a different issue, told me he is not paying for a tow truck to bring it back to fix it properly that I should take off parts and bring it to him.

I paid $1883.33 To fix the knock in my engine also rebuild my transmission, neither work completed too satisfactory. Is fluid is pouring out of The transmission and my engine still has a knock.

Desired outcome: Take to another AAmco station Have parts installed properly

AAMCO Transmissions Did not fix the problem

Was having trouble with my air conditioning in my 2002 Jaguar, they looked over my car and I explained what it was doing, when you turn the AC on after about 20 minutes to 45 minutes the vent on the driver's side would give out hot air, but the passenger's side would be running good with cold air. So at the time the one of the owners was there and talked to one of the mechanics and said they new what it was so they replaced the compressor and other parts that go with a kit and the evap sensor, we had this done in February of 2022 we went to visit our relative's but used our second vehicle to travel when we came back to and tried the AC in the Jaguar because it was a hot day it was still doing the same thing blowing out hot air from the driver's side so thy did not fix the problem we paid over $1900.00 dollars and they did not fix the problem so we had to do some research on we traveled to the Jaguar dealers 50 miles away and he told us what the problem was that our Door Blender ocellate needed to be replaced on the driver's side

Desired outcome: we bought the part ourselves and they said would put it in for a reduced price . I also have complaint about the manager that is there now very poor customer service, no issue with the mechanics

AAMCO Transmissions aamco transmissions

I took my 1966 Mustang to aamco, complained about trans slow to engage and leaking fluid on 7 27 22. picked up and paid 1445 dollars. picked up car 8 4 22. took it back to aamco on 9 23 22 . trans is now slipping as I drive, and is still slow to engage. 2nd time they worked on it was told it needs rebuilding and I need to pay them again to figure out what the problem is. I lost confidence in them when I had to bring car back, now I need to take it back again.

Desired outcome: I would like my car repaired correctly. or my money back so I can find another shop. If it was test driven the problem is obvious. This is my 2nd attempt to file.

AAMCO Transmissions Rebuilt transmission and customer service.

We were having issues with the transmission on my 2019 Escape. We brought it in and was told that putting in a rebuilt transmission was the best option for us. We were told it would be done by 4pm on the 9th. When we showed up they where having issues putting the transmission back in. They finished the replacement 9/12/2022. We picked the vehicle up but it was making a some noise. We were told that the transmission was fine. We drove it for the week and the transmission failed 9/17/2022. The Aamco was closed so we had the vehicle towed to Aamco. They worked on the vehicle and when my wife picked it up the individual was rude, the vehicle was greasy on the inside and she was told they were not paying for the tow charges. As my wife drove the vehicle home it is now making noises when it shifts. I would like to know what AAMCO is going to do to correct these issues?

Desired outcome: My transmission repaired properly and reimbursement for the tow charges incurred 6 days after the repair.

AAMCO Transmissions Scam artist & fraudulent activity…beware

On August 22 I had my car towed to Aamco Transmissions in Ocala, Florida. Gary seemed to be a trustworthy, decent person and I felt comfortable about Aamco repairing my 198,000mi, 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander. He said he was going to call me around 10am the next day. He didn’t. I called him that afternoon and he said my car needed a new transmission. He said he would get back with me about how much it would cost. He didn’t. I waited until Friday, August 26th to give him some time. At that moment he told me it was going to be $6000-$9000! I told him although I liked my car and had just had a catalytic converter put in for about $3000 only two weeks ago, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to pour more money into the car. I told him it was late Friday afternoon and his shop was closing in a bit. I also stated that it was the weekend and I needed to assist my sisters in planning our father’s funeral. I told him to let me think about the over the weekend. He asked for my birthdate and without thinking I gave it to him. Then I thought about it and asked what did he need my birthdate for? He said, “to get things started on his end.” I told Gary to not do anything to the car until I put some thought into it. I told him I would call him Monday morning with a decision. He then said, even though the shop is closed I should call his cell phone number because it’s linked to the shop and send him $3000, which is half of the cost of the job. I again told him no and that I wasn’t sure if I wanted to put $6000 in a car that has already drained me. He agreed with this and said he would wait to hear from me on Monday. Well, when I called him on Monday morning at 11am he stated that he had spent over 13 hours working on my car and that since I had given him my birthdate, he had authorization from me! First of all, Friday at 3pm with a shop that closed at 5 would leave two hours of time left. The they opened 8am Monday morning and that would be 3 hours equaling 5 hours total. How he came up with over 13 hours is a ripoff! I never gave Gary authorization! I specifically said do not work on my car until you hear from me on Monday morning! Well, now they want to keep my car or have me pay 1824.90 to get it back, the cost of doing work that I didn’t authorize. Please beware of these guys at Aamco Transmissions. They are scam artists and willing to take ever measure to rip people off.

Desired outcome: I want my car put back together and given to me without added fees. I even offered to pay a diagnostic fee, be they did take a look at my car, but they said they don’t charge diagnostic fees and want $1824.90!

AAMCO Transmissions warranty transmission

Aamco Transmission on 30 Tower Pl., Newnan, Ga 30263 has had my car since August 5, 2022. We are dealing with a warrantied transmission issue. My vehicle was drivable, however, pushed out codes. This Aamco said we needed a new transmission and since it was warranted by Ally Financial, we agreed to have the car repaired at this location. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A MONTH because two transmission that was delivered from Dahmer Powertrain Inc., was BAD! Two different transmissions were sent to this pace of business, and both were bad. Ally Financial will ONLY deal with Dahmer Powertrain Inc. to get a transmission. A transmission business cannot get a good transmission, let alone two?!?! I believe something is going on with this particular business because I refuse to believe that every transmission that has been sent by a company that professes to inspect to detail and test every product, comes to this shop is bad!

Desired outcome: I want my vehicle fixed ASAP. Holding on to my car for almost a month is unacceptable. I supposedly needed a transmission. I brought it to a transmission business, and no one can find a good transmission to get my car fixed.

AAMCO Transmissions Deceitful no integrity unauthorized charge for estimate Aamco Fontana California on Arrow Street

I call Alto to get a second opinion on my vehicle for the transmission it was idling high and the power decreased I spoke with Philip Robinson he told me I can bring my car in and it's a free diagnosis I told my car in and he gave me documents stating it was a free diagnosis and said that it would be about a week or so because they had quite a few cars there and I said that was fine. Within this time I had a minor stroke as well as contracted to covid-19 virus I received one call from Philip . I explained to him my health condition he told me he had the code as well and I said wow you're at work and he said yeah I just got a mask on and I said oh okay almost done with my videos I was shocked because was testing positive I was told by my doctor that to isolate myself . Philip stating that the transmission was no good that it would either have to be rebuilt or a use one told me the cost would be anywhere between 4,600 6,500. I said wow that's high for a 2012 car I also told him that the mechanic shop that first diagnosed the car and I had it put on the scanner and I also looked underneath the car with the mechanic where he showed me where my transmission solenoid shift box was cracked Mr Phillips states that there was no crack underneath the car when I seen it myself the replacement of that particular part was around $400 . I explained to him I don't have that kind of money right now I've missed some work now I need to make sure that I get better as far as my physical health then he told

to me that he knew some people that gives loans payday loans title loans and referred me to a loan office in Fontana and gave me two particular people to speak with I explained to him that I don't want to get into debt

That I have to just pick up my car wait to I have the money to repair the car. Then he goes to tell me that I owe the shop $1,295 . I said for what he said for diagnosis I said you said that it was free that's the paperwork that I have that is free diagnosis and then he said that his the owner was in Europe that the owner wanted to charge me the fee and he was going back and forth with the owner and so there's nothing he can do about it the owner wants to charge me $1,295 for doing nothing but a diagnosis on my vehicle. I said that's crazy I said that's not right I need my vehicle back you told me that they were not releasing my vehicle.

Desired outcome: I would like my vehicle back in return they're trying to keep my vehicle they're trying to just rob me of my vehicle
