Wow! I took a risk with these guys as I had never heard of them before and just needed some consult work
Wow! I took a risk with these guys as I had never heard of them before and just needed some consult work. Got their coupon in the Val *** (this may be the first company I've ever called from a VP coupon!). I was pleasantly surprised! From their highly automated and customer friendly contact methods (they emailed me, called me and texted me to keep me up to date) to their prompt arrival and outstanding customer *** by the technician (Shout out to ***!), I could not be more satisfied. *** walked me through all of the ins and outs of everything garage doors, did a tune up and roller replacement, showed me all of the pricing for what an opener replacement would cost me and presented several different options in case we wanted to have A1 do additional work. *** was very knowledgeable, very professional, articulate and did great work while he was here. I will definitely be keeping A1 on the short list of solid companies to call for this work.
Very shady sales practices and a waste of my time
Very shady sales practices and a waste of my time. I called them yesterday to set up an appointment and asked all the costs just for them to come out to fix my garage motor. The person on the line told me $25 which I thought was odd, but still scheduled. They were very prompt, but from the very beginning what was told on the phone was very different from the pricing when they came. Immediately the technician shoved an iPad in my face asking for $145 just for labor. I was annoyed but let them proceed. Within 30-minutes they said that I would need to replace the whole motor. They tried to quote me $1300 for just a motor. At first the technician tried to skate over pricing but after multiple attempts finally answered. I immediately asked them to leave because that is way over cost for a motor. You can get a motor at *** for $130. Truly disgusting practices. They did lower their cost to just $70 because they could see I was mad. Would not ever recommend.
We have had a great experience with A1. *** was *** and he was thorough, took the time to explain our options and completed the work in a professional manner. I highly recommend A1 and will use them again when the need arises.MD
and *** were punctual and communicated everything from arrival time to options on repair or replacement. Were able to show detail in the both the problems and solutions with photos and explanations. They were well informed and gave us plus and minuses with repair or replacement. I would highly recommend this Company and especially this team!
Spring broke on the door in the morning. Called A 1 at 11 am. *** was on the job at 1:30 the same day . Very professional & knowledgeable. Can't say enough good thing about my experience. This was in ***.
Fantastic work! My tech *** was honest and worried quickly to repair my garage door alignment springs. He replaced the springs on both sides so I didn't have to worry about the old spring snapping like the first. He worked quickly and showed up right on time the same day I called. Excellent service and great price!
I had a spring snap and I called the company that had installed the garage door to have them come out and replace the springs, they told me it
I had a spring snap and I called the company that had installed the garage door to have them come out and replace the springs, they told me it would be 10 days before they could come out I explained my car was inside the garage, the lady said she was sorry but it would still be 10 days before they could come out. ( that company was ***)I then called A1 Garage Door Service and within two hours I had a service technician knocking on my door. This young man (Payten H ), was very friendly, he replaced both springs and cables on the door. Payten explained why instead of just the broken spring being replaced both springs needed to be replaced along with both cables. After he finished all repairs he then inspected my whole garage door system for any problems. Being a retired engineer I was very impressed with Payten knowledge and workmanship.I would recommend both Payten and A1 Garage Door Service that needs repairs or a new garage door, this is without a doubt the go-to company and if all their service people are like Payten you will know you have the best company in town.
Terrible company! A1 replaced my garage door in December . Since then (today is 3/13/22), Ive had to call them 6 times to come back and fix many different items including springs, rails, etc. The service they provide is terrible and at this point, I believe their company motto is to leave certain items out of spec so they can continue to get called and *** for additional labor or ridiculously marked up parts.SAVE YOUR TIME, MONEY, AND EFFORT BY GOING TO A DIFFERENT COMPANY!To top it off, every person I speak with in the company says, Well if you dont do the work our technician suggests, then other issues will pop up. I literally have done every single thing the technician suggests and still.they will be back at my house to fix my door yet again tomorrow.
I received a coupon for a garage door tuneup. *** could not answer my questions as to what it covered. *** serviced the door. He presented me the *** and there was a twenty five dollar trip charge. I was not told there would be this charge and it was not on the coupon. I WANT MY MONEY BACK. This practice is fraud. I told him i would not use this company again and he said a lot of people were saying that lately.
My name is ***
My name is ***. I am very grateful to God for sending me A1 Garage Door Service and the technician that came out to our home. His name is ***. I had bumped into my garage door and knocked it off the railings and bent it. I called a number of other people who wanted to charge me $2,000.00 for a new door. I knew I did not need a new door. When *** from A1 Garage Door Service came out, he was very nice, polite and professional. He said I did not need a new door. He was able to fix my garage door. $167.14. I will use them again and again because they did not want to sell me something that I did not need. We are senior citizens and if any of you that read this is like me' you want people who will not try and take advantage of you and try and sell you something that you don't need. You want good customer *** and people who are not trying to take advantage of a situation but give a reasonable and honest service. I can't thank them enough for what they did for us today. I would recommend them based on the service they provided today to any one.

Don't use this company they are not honest with their customers. I set up an appointment to have maintenance done. I told the customer *** representative when I set up the appointment that I wanted my springs tightened . The technition came out and I told him the same thing .he then told me that they don't tighten springs they only replace them because it's to dangerous and they could break and torsion spring never need to be tightened.I was quoted ***for new springs with life time warranty then told I needed a center bearing another *** so I an quoted *** he then said with tax ***. I was NEVER shown an actual estimate ,he just asked me to sign for approval to install the springs and bearing . the tech NEVER offered to show me an estimate, little did I know I was being charged a fee for them to come out and also a fee for him doing diagnostic on springs he would not tighten. They do take pictures pretending to do these service. Total almost $100.00 they don't quote hidden fee nor do they tell you that there are visit fee parts and labor fees on the lifetime warranty spring they install another few hundred dollars. This is on the invoiced I was mailed at my request because I was not given one after my service was performed. WHY DOES A CUSTOMER HAVE TO CALL AND REQUEST AN INVOICE.This company needs to let consumers know that if they come out they will be charged minimal fees of $100. If you don't use their service and you are still charged the same fees if you do. I HOPE PEOPLE SEE THIS POST AND CHOOSE ANOTHER COMPANY .I later found out I could have HAD A NEW GARAGE door and springs installed for what I was charged by this company.
We hired A1 to help us out in a jam - literally, our garage door spring broke and we couldn't open the door! They credited the repair towards a new door, which we ordered and they recently installed. It is beautiful, quiet, and such a wonderful upgrade for our home. *** and *** did a wonderful job with the installation and were quick and courteous. They explained everything they were doing and ran us through the function afterwards. My husband and I were very impressed and the new door has made our house feel brand new. Thank you, A1!
I had to pay in full - They first told me 6 months ended up being 9 months to get the door. When it arrived it was the wrong one installed. This company is horrible. They said if I cancel - they keep my deposit. I am at their mercy. Now Im waiting for gif knows how long for the correct door.
Do yourself a favor and hire *** other garage door company
Do yourself a favor and hire *** other garage door company. The experience I've had with A1 Garage Door has been exceptionably horrible. This review is really a 0 star review. I had them change out the motor in one of my rental properties. After the install, the door would not close. The tech came out and adjusted the door. Then the door started opening by itself, which led to a theft. They sent out a tech to fix the issue and charged a $95 service fee. The door kept opening by itself, so we called A1 to see if they would send another tech to fix the the issue. When the tech got to the property he refused to fix the motor, which was under warranty. He insisted that the only way A1 would fix the motor/problem is if I changed out the single torsion spring for a two torsion spring system, which would only cost $1,100. The single torsion spring and door worked fine for the 16 years that I have owned this property. The problems started when I made a *** mistake and hired A1 Garage Door. The VP we spoke to was extremely rude. A1 Garage Door has horrible products, service, and an bad attitude. Don't waste your time or money. Both are *** too valuable for A1 Garage Door."

Caution! $$$I asked for a ballpark price over the phone and they said a technician would have to come out and assess the job first before quoting a price. The service technician was very nice and knowledgeable. I was quoted a $936 to replace two torsion springs with a lifetime warranty and a reinforcement bracket, but was told it might be more if they find any problems with any of the other mechanical parts. This price was also discounted with their $75 on line coupon. I felt like this was a little high in price so I cancelled the job and contacted a local competitor who was able to come out the same morning. I was able to get two torsion springs, and a strut installed for $357 total. If I wanted the heavy duty springs with a 5 year warranty it would have been $40 more. I went with the 1 year warranty because these are exactly the same springs I replaced and was able to get 10 years out of them. The garage door works as smooth as butter now. I do have to say they are professional on the phone, they come when they say they will and are knowledgeable, for those reasons I would give more stars, but because the price is significantly higher than the competitor I can only give one star.
Be suspicious of a business that runs a continual large ad offering a discounted service
Be suspicious of a business that runs a continual large ad offering a discounted service. The garage door opener system installation they did for me ended up costing a couple of hundred dollars more than the advertised price. Midway through the installation the technician said I needed some sort of bracing bar and other components, which cost extra. A few months later, the door failed to open. A1, rather than standing by its installation charged me an addition $75 to fix the problem. There was nothing of the ordinary in this installation. My house is less than 20 years old and the existing single car garage door for which A1 installed the opener system was not damaged or unusual in any way. One might ask why I would have let myself be conned by these people. Like all cons, it comes in incremental bits, in this case in the course of the installation as the the technician "discovered" the need for the "additional items", which actually would be part of any normal opener system installation. I should, however, have called another company for the follow-up, but then *** would expect that a problem with the installation would be covered by a warranty. These people are comptent, but their competence lies more in the area of extracting money from the customer than *** door installation, at least in my experience in ***, .

The service they provide is flawless, but their pricing is very much inflated, when I called them to inquire about broke torsion springs, they refused to give me a price quote over the phone, the technician showed up on time and proceeded to give me the options for the springs, he told me the springs I needed were priced at $475.00 plus labor of $135, I was in a hurry to get this done so begrudgingly I accepted the quote. when he took apart the mechanism it was discovered the bearings on the spring shaft were frozen and needed to be replaced, again at an outrageous price, the next thing was the 10 wheels running on the channels had worn bearings, more price gouging again. I had no time to call another company since I had to take a work trip the next day and I personally verified the items the tech pointed out were bad. I ended up paying over a thousand dollars for the repair, the final issue that let me know these people are way overpriced was when I discovered my old Genie s*** drive opener had stripped a gear when the spring broke and was unable to open the door, the tech offered a new unit for over 400 dollars, I said no. I went to *** and got a new Genie Stealth 750 for $160 and installed it myself, these company is good at what they do, but they are way overpriced, I am sure that with enough time I could have gotten the repair for less than half of what I paid.Avoid these people if you can, better get 2 or 3 estimates, I regret having accepted their prices.
I really can't recommend this company in the slightest!
I really can't recommend this company in the slightest! The installer *** was friendly but the company prices and tactics most definitely are NOT!TLDNR? $890 for 2 springs, center bearing and zero warranty.I had a broken spring on a 20yo house which is expected at that age. The first quote from A1 was near $1600. Once I stopped choking I was offered a "cheaper 2yr warranty" spring set (2) and center bearing for $890 which is still insanely expensive! But I was told the company is national and not some ma and pa company.Installer called me back once springs were disassembled saying I need outer bearings and brackets, drums and cable. Yet another $506 which is insane for what it is. ($1,400 total) I refused and said to put back the original ones and had to sign a waiver voiding all warranty. I'm also wondering how he had examples of new bearings and hubs ready to go whilst locked in my garage (door was down) if he wasn't preparing to sell them to me after I signed for the first $890?So... $890 for 2 springs and a center bearing. I'm being told it's because they are a big national company with expensive vans. Because of covid and being 2022. Because of a Complaintsboard.com A+ rating. How much would you pay for zero warranty? How is this better than the ma and pa shop that have a store front and been in business for 30+ years?I can't recommend A1 Garage Door Service and wish I hadn't signed the *** contract so quickly without calling someone... anyone else!I'll go back to choking on my $890 bill for a couple of zero warranty springs.
Would give them a zero if it let me
Would give them a zero if it let me. Had a issue with garage not closing all the way So gave them a call. They showed up and told me they found the exact problem and I needed a complete bearing and springs set up. Was told a price that was shocking 834 dollars to replace. I did not know better so did ok. By the time they did the work it jumped up to *** with fees o top of it. Oh it gets better, only after they tell me the door needs to be completely replaced and probably should not use it because of safety. Then quoted me a great discount on the door of additional &***. At that point bells and whistles went off in my mind. I then called three different garage companies to come out. All three of the companies looked at the issues and told me that what was done by a one was overpriced by about 700 to $800. Meaning they would have done the work for about &300 total. Also asked every one of those companies about a new door. And everyone of those companies said they would never take my money because the door did not need to be replaced. One of them even said definitely sounds like a scare tactic from A1. But wait, theres more. Fast forward to a week and a half later. And the exact problem that I originally called them for is happening again. So round and round we go again. I called them this morning and was given a name of a customer *** manager. This manager does not even sound like hes local and takes what he says on his voicemail up to two business days to call me back. This outfit is about as sketch as it gets. AVOID
If there was a star rating that was indicative of sub zero, that is what I would give
If there was a star rating that was indicative of sub zero, that is what I would give. My door needs to be replaced. I had a rep come out to bid the replacement, and I agreed to do an upgraded door ONLY because it was in stock and could be installed in two weeks. This is very important as I am under protective orders and in a house that cannot be secured, so time is of the essence, and they knew this. Two days before installation, they called and canceled for an unknown reason. This reschedule put me weeks out yet again. I had to reschedule an entire vacation and lose money on the vacay rescheduling as I most certainly cannot go on vacation without a secured house. So I got the vacation rescheduled, got the installation rescheduled to today. What do you know, 30 minutes before the installer is supposed to be here, I get a call saying they don't have all of the parts, that they are going to have to reschedule. They claimed to have everything six weeks earlier so what suddenly happened to these parts?! I cancelled my order, called another garage door company that has one in stock and can come out next week. A1 Garage door is now holding the funds on my credit card for ten business days due to "protocol," which is further delaying my garage door repair with the new company as that is the credit card I have to use with the new company. I called *** Fargo credit card division and filed a dispute just to help this move along quicker. This company is absolutely absurd and cannot be trusted with securing parts, scheduling installation, anything. Buyer beware with this one.

The technician, ***, came to my home very promptly
The technician, ***, came to my home very promptly. He diagnosed the problem very quickly. I had replaced the incandescent light bulb with an LED bulb. He told me that this caused interference for the remotes and that the interference had "fried the motherboard" on the main unit. He said that the garage door opener system needed to be replaced at a cost of approximately $400. He sounded quite knowledgeable so, I gave him the ok to do the work. He informed me that he didn't have the proper replacement on his truck and he would have to get it from another technician. He left and I took the opportunity to get online and do some research of my own. I confirmed that he was correct about the LED bulb causing interference. However, the suggested fix for the problem was to remove the bulb. I went to the garage, removed the bulb, and the problem was completely fixed. I immediately called *** on his cell phone and told him that I no longer wanted to replace my opener. He immediately went into panic mode and tried to tell me that it was only a temporary fix and that the permanent damage had already been done. I informed him that if it starts acting up again then, I would know exactly who to call. He acted disgusted with me for wasting his time and hung up the phone. I called the tech support for the company who makes my opener and they assured me that LED bulbs do NOT permanently damage the motherboard! Basically, my problem had a very simple fix that could have been solved I two minutes for the cost of a service call. Instead, the technician tried to take advantage of me and sell me a completely unnecessary $400 in parts and labor. While I can't prove it, I believe he acted deceptively. Thank god he didn't have the correct parts with him at the time. I will never call this company again!
They took advantage of me
They took advantage of me. Shameful tactics to sell garage doors. I called due to a broken spring on a weekend on a perfectly working garage door. The repair guy arrived very late at night after a whole day of delays, but instead of changing my spring, he said he didnt carry my cheap springs but quoted a need of 2 new red springs that required a change of hinges, cables and fixtures that he quoted at ***, but offered me a new garage door for just a little more financed. Meanwhile he abused the motor i had as I saw him forcing the door down while he complained of the brand of my motor, and as I was discussing with my wife of their quote, he pressured me to have a brand new door at a bargain price, it was very late and presented that they were a very formal company and I could back off if I wanted. After I gave to his pressure sale tactic he said that there were additional things to install the new door and that it will ***-8 weeks to get at $2100. I was devastated as I needed to have a working garage door. So he said that he will temporarily fix without warranty and at my risk, so he put a spring as I initially needed but demonstrated that my motor was broken. I told him that it was not broken when he arrived, but he complained of my motor brand and said of the good door I would get and showed me how to manually open and close until my great new door arrived. I accepted and he said that it will be faster if I rescinded 3 days allowed to retreat from my buy. Anyway I was approved for financing at 0% interest. I still called next business day to change my mind, then A1 offered me a big discount of $400 to keep my order which convinced me as I needed now a motor too at that bargain price. They called to schedule install in 6 weeks, few weeks later I tried to reschedule ahead if possible as I had to travel but they said theyll have to postpone additional 4 weeks. At that point I called my motor company to diagnose my motor which they did and send a technician who fixed my motor and demonstrated that all that the A1 technician was quoting was ***, my door was perfect and all things. I called to cancel my order willing to swallow the cancellation fee of 25% but they said that it was 50% cancellation fee as it was not possible to cancel with their supplier (still several weeks before install date) so I ended up with no new door , no new red springs and no new motor and financing 50% of the cost of all of that ($800) plus $200 for the repair of my own motor. Then surprisingly on install day they came with the door which I said to leave all in my garage without installing as I though I was still with the whole bill and Ill have to find somehow to sell it. While I was reviewing the financing account which I confirmed A1 credited 50% they came back to pick up the door as they said that my fee was for the spring and they owned all the rest. I ended up paying $1000 for a spring they said they dont carry at the beginning. Liars with shameful tactics to sell garage doors. I was willing to swallow 25% restocking fee but it seems that all Is overpriced and at the end they got all for them.

11/25 we had a gentleman come out from A1 garage doors
11/25 we had a gentleman come out from A1 garage doors. After his review of the issues with the garage, we were told $3300 total for EVERYTHING needed that day and the NEXT time they were coming out. Literally out the door. $2500 that day & $830 the next time. Here we are 1/18, Ive been taken advantage of. I just for a *** for $815. This is out of left field. If we were told that we would be paying $3300. If I was to pay $4115, we would have never agreed to this service! I cannot believe this shady business practice your company is running. I will be sure to tell EVERYONE I know to avoid your company!

I had A1 garage examine my garage door for needed repairs
I had A1 garage examine my garage door for needed repairs. I was told it was unfixable and I would need a new garage. I placed a down payment of $1500 on a new order. I called another business that fixed the garage for less than $100. I cancelled my order within the 3 day grace *** at A1 garage that allowed for a full refund. It has been over a week and I still have not received a refund. I called today (10/4) and asked to speak with billing and they refused to transfer me. They simply told me it would take time to process. The whole process from start to finish has felt like a scam with this company. I simply want my deposit returned and to move on with life.

18 Feb 2022 Was scheduled for installation of garage door ordered. This was the second time scheduled the first time was 4 Feb 2022. Both times they did not show up or call. When I contacted them they said it is not in. Asked to speak with a supervisor and was told they would call me. That was five days ago and as of yet no call. This order was placed seven months ago 22 July
A1 was paid in full July . The door was promised no later than December. December came and they could not deliver until April. I asked for a refund. As the door was not built yet as the needed parts were not available. The manager said they would refund all except the deposit - which was significant. My only choice was to continue on or be out the money. The door arrived and they installed it today incorrectly- and the door is not what I ordered. Ive had it.

In May I called A1 garage services to my home to repair what was causing the top of my garage door to bend in the center. The tech came out and installed a strut on top, new springs and rollers and an overhaul of the torsion system. *** dollars in repairs. In July the same problem happened again. I called them, they sent the same tech who then tried to sell me a new door at *** dollars. I refused because I do not need a new door and *** dollars is ridiculous. He then said he would just get the door working again. He installed a second strut and charged me for two struts. This charge was an additional 600 dollars after I spent *** in May and they did not fix the problem then. I have been calling this company and am getting nowhere.

Our garage door was serviced by A1 in April to replace the gear in the motor
Our garage door was serviced by A1 in April to replace the gear in the motor. The Tech also recommended to replace the spring due to the weight test and the age of the spring. There was nothing wrong with the spring at the time, but that we agreed based on his recommendation. Less than 3 years later, the spring broke as well as the balancing cables. We called A1, and they told us the spring is under warranty and will be replaced, but the labor isn't included. We had no choice but to agree since we didn't want to pay for a new spring and addl labor if we went with a different company, although we felt that labor should have been included with the warranty. A new Tech came after 2 days, and he said that the spring should have lasted 5 years. And now he recommends using a DIFFERENT spring that performs better BUT we'll have to pay for full price WITHOUT any adjustment from the previously damaged spring that was still under warranty.

told me door would be 3 to 6 weeks. called n early july said they would call me back next day, never did called again july 7 they said manager would call next day ,as of today still nothing door was to be installed tuesday july 5, i do not trust a1 garage to do what they say.
I was not told about the $150 labor charge. I was lied to by employee about price hikes due to covid which was not the case he was trying to make more cash off of me as well as the company A1. I stopped A1 from working 15min in as I did not want to be taken advantage of being way over charged. A1 first wanted to charge me $ 175 for the 15min they were there which is the entire cost of labor for the job not performed. I said not fair and A1 Employee offered to charge me $95 instead. He was starting to get rude and to avoid any further conflicts or calling police I paid the $95 so he would leave.
In April 7, I called A1 Garage Door Service for an emergency repair on my garage door
In April 7, I called A1 Garage Door Service for an emergency repair on my garage door. It turned out the door could not be repaired so I ordered a new one. I paid for the new garage door in full ($4,223.87), trusting that the company would deliver the door I ordered. The door arrived several months later with 3 frosted panels and 1 clear panel. The new frosted panel came late last year, but it was mounted on the wrong side of the garage door piece. Today, another panel arrived, but this time the garage door piece is dented. The company has been irresponsive to my concerns and customer *** has been dismissive of my complaints. Ive left messages with a manager that have not been returned. Promises have been made and ignored. I feel robbed. They took my money, but have not lived up to their responsibility. Before exploring my legal options, Im hoping the Complaintsboard.com can intervene to try to resolve this situation as soon as possible.

A-1 garage doors - came out to replace two garage door motors
A-1 garage doors - came out to replace two garage door motors. It went from bad to worse due to the tech. We cancelled an order ( which we paid in full by credit card) as we were told we could do so by the tech who came out to our home. Was told we could cancel for any reason within a 3 or so day period. first cancellation occurred within 12 hours. Second cancellation was 2 days later and so far credit card has not been issued a credit. This was one month ago. Immediately filed a dispute with credit card company and they have issued a credit in the interim. The manager of this company called me two weeks ago and told me they credited back my card and was I aware. I said no I had not received any notice from the credit card company so he replied he would send me proof from his company. So far, no credit and HE LIED. My credit card company told me he was probably hoping I would cancel the dispute thus opening the opportunity for him to keep my money.

On or about September 28 I ordered a Classica1000 Northampton (N)-True White SQUARE/NO ARCH garage door from A1 Garage Door Service
On or about September 28 I ordered a Classica1000 Northampton (N)-True White SQUARE/NO ARCH garage door from A1 Garage Door Service. On November 2 I was provided (via email) an estimated arrival date of November 23. On November 20, January 4 and January 5 - I requested updates regarding the status of my garage door via email (while also calling multiple times). On January 13 - a technician arrived to install a new garage door. At approximately 8 p.m. on January 13 the technician confirmed that he had the incorrect garage door but stated that he would need to install the incorrect door that he had brought since he had already removed our old door. I felt I had no choice but to accept this temporary solution. After realizing the door installation was hazardous - A1 sent out another technician on January 16 to fix the installation issues with the incorrect door. To date - 5 months later - I have yet to receive the correct door.

On April 17 I completed contract for a new garage door and new door motor
On April 17 I completed contract for a new garage door and new door motor. Given an ETA for completion sometime in July. Left multiple messages in July as they did not contact me to provide install date. They finally informed me they move it back to Aug. Come Aug there was no communication and again multiple calls/voice messages were made. To obtain immediate service, I called and followed the prompts for requesting new installation and immediately *** answered, I advised of the lack of communication, asked for a mgr to request a drop dead date or a cancellation. Shortly after I received a voice message, Sept would be the install and delays were manufacturer fault. Sept 28th I called again as they never called and Sept was pretty much over. They called back scheduled for Sept 30. However on Sept 30 they called and said the installer did not have the door. Then they called back again, said they cant find the door. What company loses a garage door? Not the service I was promised

On April 17 my husband *** signed a contract for a new garage door and new door motor
On April 17 my husband *** signed a contract for a new garage door and new door motor. We were given an ETA for completion in July. The company failed to communicate and after multiple messages we were inform that they move it back to Aug. In August there was no communication and multiple calls were made, left multiple voice mails. Because they would not return calls, I called and followed the prompts for requesting new installation and immediately *** answered, I advised of the lack of communication and asked for a drop dead date or a cancellation. Shortly after we received a voice message, Sept would be the install and delays were manufacturer fault. Sept 28th I called again they never called and Sept was pretty much over. They called back scheduled for Sept 30. However they called and said the installer did not have the door. Then they called back and said they cant find the door. This is not the service we were promised and they need to discount their fees.

In October this year, I contacted A1 Garage Door regarding repair or replacement of the rubber seal at the bottom of the garage door
In October this year, I contacted A1 Garage Door regarding repair or replacement of the rubber seal at the bottom of the garage door. They sent a Tech, Kyleout and he replaced the seal. Roughly 7 days later we had a heavy rain and water was coming into the garage where it had previously done so before the seal was replaced. I called A1 back to tell the that the problem had not been resolved. They sent Kyle back out and he spoke to his Manager who stated they would install a "Storm Shield" free of charge that should resolve the problem. It is now going on 2 months and all I have gotten is 3 appointments for them to come out and every time, on the day they were to come out, they have cancelled on that day. Today January 1 being the latest. When I spoke to the Dispatcher regarding my level of dissatisfaction, she stated that they had to reschedule because of the weather. It is completely dry outside with rain or snow on the ground. This is totally unprofessional and unacceptable. I hope that this is brought to the attention of the business and they do the right thing to correct this.

So I had my garage door fixed by one of their technician
So I had my garage door fixed by one of their technician. The person out 2 16ft strut to fix it. Then told me to tell the owner of the house about the spring of the garage door and the wheels so I did. The owner sent one of their own garage technician and the technician said I dont need 2 strut on the garage and he removed one of it. The person said as well to try contacting A1 see if I could get my money back for the other strut. I tried contacting them multiple times and always told me they got me scheduled for a phone call appointment with the technician that fixed my garage door. But person didnt call me then on Friday September 2nd they told me the technician was on vacation and then theyll schedule me a phone call Saturday with someone else but still no call and the technician that fixed my garage be back Monday and theyll schedule me a phone call from him as well on Monday but its Tuesday now and I havent heard anything from them. In the invoice from them it didnt say anything that all sale is final so Im hoping to just get my money back from the one strut that the person put that I dont need at all.

In December we had a rental property with an inoperable garage door
In December we had a rental property with an inoperable garage door. We made an appointment with A1 and they came to inspect. They temporarily fixed the door however we were advised the door needed to be replaced so we ordered a new door and new rails, etc. The door arrived several weeks later and when the technician arrived he advised he was from out of state as all the previous A1 field reps had quit so he was assisting. This guy installed the new door but was unable to get the door to operate properly. We had three technicians to come to the property, and several no shows, and they were all unable to fix the door. We had conversations with the manger and he said he would personally come fix the door but we never heard back from him. *** tried several times to call the service line and explain my situation and no one calls back. We do receive calls from the company advising the replacement door piece is in and to schedule a technician but when we call back no one returns our calls. We have received an invoice and *** replied to the manager that we will pay but the job is not complete and we need to speak to a manger who can get this fixed for us.

On 8/2 our garage door broke during a child's birthday party
On 8/2 our garage door broke during a child's birthday party. I called around for whomever was open on a Sunday to help secure the door in place, as it posed a serious threat to the children in the home. A1 Garage Door Service was able to come by and secure the door, and I was then told it was broken beyond repair. The next day 2 technicians came out and quoted me the price of a new door ($5600). I was told that it would take 10 weeks to come in d/t supply chain issues. I was notified by the company that the new door would be installed 10/9. On 10/9, the technician *** came out to install my Clopay Model *** with glass inserts. However halfway through the install I was notified that it was the incorrect door. They were missing the panel with the glass inserts. I was told that they needed to install the incorrect door "for safety" but a "warranty request" would be submitted. I was also forced into purchasing upgraded bearings, after being told the ones from the manufacturer were subpar. I was also advised I needed to pay in full (even though the wrong door was installed). I was notified on 10/11 that someone would be out 10/14 at 8am to install the correct door. On 10/14 I was notified at noon that the panel was "received damaged from the manufacturer" and that another panel would need to be reordered. I asked for an ETA, but was told that one could not be provided yet. I asked to speak to manager and was told that a message would be sent to *** to reach out. I called again on 10/18 & 10/21 and left messages with *** that I wanted a callback from ***. Both times I was told that a message would be sent to him. On 10/22 I received a call from *** with an ETA of the end of January 2022 for a new panel. Again I asked to speak to ***, and was given the same reply that a message would be sent back to him. This is ridiculous! I was forced to pay over $5700 for the wrong door & no one is accountable!

July 20, ,2021 - A1 came out to repair garage opener they installed 5 yrs ago
July 20, ,2021 - A1 came out to repair garage opener they installed 5 yrs ago. It had stopped working properly. The tech told me the repair for that unit, which had an expected life of 5 years, would be more than purchasing a new garage door opener, and he said the springs were also beyond their warranty and likely to go as well. So he priced for me a lifetime warranty garage door opener, and lifetime warranty springs. He also confirmed they are transferrable to new owner if I sell my property as I explained I was not inclined to purchase the high dollar products if they didn't add value to my home if I sold it. He confirmed they were transferrable one time, so if I purchased them, they'd be transferrable to whomever bought my home, but not to whomever that party may sell the home. I purchased the lifetime garage door opener, and the springs. The invoice arrived only after I emailed (july 22) asking for the paper work and it called out that 1) it was not transferrable and 2) completely omitted any verbiage about lifetime warranty. I left multiple voice mails (7/26, 8/16, , and sent multiple text messages and 3 additional emails to no avail. After I said they needed to to respond or I would file a Complaintsboard.com complaint, they had ***, the tech who installed them call me who reiterated yes, lifetime warranty on both and transferrable one time. He'd get in touch with someone to get the paperwork to me. They sent me a copy of the invoice on July 27 with only the product purchased, and no disclaimers or confirmation of warranty. I sent another 3 emails (7/27, 8/1, 8/7) with of lifetime warranty of both the springs and the garage door open. Oct 26, the LED in the garage door opener, which would last a thousand hours no longer works only about 20 hours in. I am owed documentation on transferability and lifetime warranty with no labor, parts or travel costs since zero of that was disclosed upon purchase. Full lifetime coverage was what I bought. Very upset.

We contacted A1 on Sept 16th for spring replacement, asked tech how much all in to replace, quoted me around $600
We contacted A1 on Sept 16th for spring replacement, asked tech how much all in to replace, quoted me around $600. When he was done, it was over $800, because some hidden fees he somehow didn't mention - payment due immediately. Felt robbed, was already overpriced and now more (?!) but paid it and figured *** learned. We called the following Monday, as the door was making bad noises all weekend and struggling to open and shut - we've had this door 12 years and serviced by other companies before, it has never sounded this bad. We were told it was normal and new springs needed to stretch or something to that effect. This morning (10/10), our door stopped shutting. We contacted the local number and were told there was only one technician in the area and he's booked until tomorrow morning - no way we can have our door fixed today. I am/was concerned - I have personal belongings in my garage, can't leave it all exposed overnight - they said to move everything inside. I asked about being reimbursed if I have another local tech out, so we can resolve the safety concern, and was told they can't approve that. No supervisor available to speak to immediately, they could make a ticket for them to call me in 1-2 days, but likely wouldn't approve because it's not their tech. Their only offer was early appt next day, move my things inside, and a free tune up after the fact. This is completely unacceptable... terrible service from the start, and it doesn't seem to be getting better... even if they came to fix, I'm nervous they'll shake me for more $ or I'll end up again with a door that doesn't work. Having another company come to fix, waiting for A1 supervisor to respond on covering the cost for reimbursement, but not feeling hopeful, especially now reading through other complaints and reviews. How do we prevent them from doing this to more people, and is there a way to protect or recoup my costs at this point, should A1 not be willing to do so voluntarily?

Notwithstanding it took from June until October for A1 Garage to install the for new construction standard and 13 foot RV garage doors
Notwithstanding it took from June until October for A1 Garage to install the for new construction standard and 13 foot RV garage doors. A bad review later they compensated us for about half of the extra cost for their delay and extend the warranty to 5 years.June the 13 foot RV garage door broke rollers and became wedged open. Upon calling A1 the representative stated she did not know how soon they could get a technician out. After some time on hold she came back and they would have a technician out the next day, so the garage was open exposing tools and other valuable items to the public. The technician showed up without a ladder tall enough for the 13 foot garage door and stated he was not told it was warranty and/or required a ladder for a 13 foot door. After a number of long calls and a constant asking if the door hit anything which the same answer was given: no it did not hit anything and if it did there is supposed to be a safety that the door just stops and reverses itself (code). After getting the door open and the motorhome out of the garage he was able to get the door to work. His assessment was that three panels were damage, plus one of the cables had stretched and thus the panels needed to be replaced.Once again like after signing the original contract and giving the deposit no call, I had to call A1 Garage. They sent a second technician who tried to fix the panels and take additional pictures with his assessment being only two panels need to be replaced and (BS) that the cables do not stretch.Once again I have to contact A1 to find out what they are doing and then wait for a call once the parts arrive. Received a message to call to schedule an appointment as the parts were in (7/21) and call to schedule an appointment. After holding for an extend period of time the representative said she did not know why she could not schedule a crew and ask if I minded being put on a brief hold. Fifteen minutes late I hung up and once ag

A1 Garage is NOT licensed in the ***. They sold me a new garage door install in April. Told me 4 weeks for install, then 10 weeks, called 6/20 and found out they are not waiting on permits there waiting on an actual license to be able to get a permit. They should not be selling anything with out a license and have been misrepresenting themselves to customers.
I had the garage door on one of our properties crooked and out of rail. I appreciate that A1 sent a tech immediately since I had to get this door fixed. They first quoted me $440 for putting the door back in its place and then quoted me for some other repairs (springs, drum, bearings, etc). When I look at the material they have used they marked up everything sometime more than 10x. Here is a list of material they used and how much they have quoted me vs how much you can typically buy them:80,000 Cycle Life -- Actual price $150 -- A1 price $811.37 7ft Cable -- Actual price $10 -- A1 price $146.04 Bearing end plate -- Actual price $20 -- A1 price $146.04 Center bearings -- Actual price $20 -- A1 price $73.77 8ft drums -- Actual price $20 -- A1 price $146.04 They charged me a total of $1940 which was totally unfair and unjust.
Called A-1 to have a broken spring replaced. when the tech showed up he quoted *** to replace the spring. When I looked up the cost of the spring it was *** so I questioned the tech. He said he could knock the labor off which brought it down to ***. I said no but he insisted on a *** inspection that reveled a bunch of made up problems. Even after being cuaght trying to *** me the tech kept trying to rip me off. I asked him to leave and he wouldn't saying I owed him *** for the inspection which was a scam. All he did was take about 10 pictures. I finally got rid of the guy, called another company who replaced the spring for ***. Stay away from A-1 Garage Door.
