Souq.com offers a super promotion in the latest HOT products such as an iPhone 5 in 270$ USD or a Mini iPad in 135$ USD they offer it in a promotion called WOW DEAL wich is announced in a big advertisement program 1 month before with an specific date of launch.
The consumer is required to wait for the launch as the time of the deal is not specified, only the date.
Upon further inquiries by phone the only information given is that the consumer must wait for the product to launch as it could launch on the website at any moment of the day and due to a limited amount of products may only last for few minutes. Therefore constantly refreshing the page is an absolutely necessity as not to miss out on the WOW DEAL.

There was a wow Deal today 8th of April 2013 for a Blackberry Z10 for 999 AED which is 270 USD.
Everybody was required to start checking the website at 00:00 hours (midnight) 8th of April and refresh as much as possible since it can be launched at any moment.
During this time a facebook page was setup with around 100 buyers interested in the same deal so we were communicating between each other about when the WOW DEAL will be launched.
Finally at 8:30 a.m. after more than 8 hours refreshing the website every second the product was supposedly launched but as an already SOLD ITEM. It was through this facebook page that we the consumers realized the product was never available for us to purchase but was simply a SCAM in order to attract traffic to the website. The reason why we believe this is because during the time of launch we all commented among each other if somebody could get the deal during that second but most of us only saw that the item was SOLD OUT in only a fraction of second only a few people managed to put the item in the cart but at the end they couldn't buy it because the website was giving them this error. "The requested items could not be added to your cart at the moment" when they refreshed the website to try again the item was sold out as well.
We all started asking between each othe if somebody could get the Promotion but nobody answered positively.

The website address that we had to constantly be refreshing was this: http://deals.souq.com/ae-en/
I will attach some pictures as proves of how the product shows sold out.

If you want to see all the coments go to the facebook page : http://www.facebook.com/SouqUAE?fref=ts&filter=2 and look for the post of the morning of 8th April 2013 around 00:00 to 12 midday. You will have a full explanation and prove of what im saying.

WOW DEAL is definitely not true do not loose hours of your life because whatever is too good to be true is not real.

As simple as this, Souq.com UAE wouldn't need to comment on ANYTHING if they are not GUILTY. What is a big "successful" company as souq be doing on a customers complaint page trying to justify themselves. What is the need if the company claims to be fair? Isnt it normal for some companies to have negative feedback?...however, when there are over hundreds of complaints, of course, a company feels the need to take necessary action to prove they are fair, by, deleting messages on their facebook page, blocking certain customers from access to this page and justifying themselves on a customer's complaint page..No one is trying to tarnish your image. It is you, Souq.com, who have done this to yourselves by advertising a product that never existed as a marketing scheme to fool customers in believing they had a real chance in purchasing this amazing deal.

You have no words, they are empty, since there is no Government or a regulating company available to prove your DEALS are FAKE.

You can say a thousand things and have "proof", but all of it can be just made up.
You can have people claiming they got the WOW [SCAM] DEAL but all of them may be your own staff or your employees following your orders and posting feedback on these purchases in order to deceive us once again.

THE FACT is that we were not 50 or a hundred people, WE were THOUSANDS of people looking for the WOW DEAL (that was a SCAM) continually refreshing your website every second and ALL OF US, within a fraction of a second suddenly saw your product updated as SOLD OUT! and whoever got to put it in the cart WAS NOT ABLE TO BUY IT due to a message appearing "The requested item could not be added to your cart at the moment" therefore the buyers were not able to proceed with the purchase. THIS IS CALLED A SCAM. This is DECEIVING and is not right.

You got people from every kind of race and financial status' waiting and wasting their time for this. There were reportedly people who stayed up all night, even though they had to go to work early the next day. Do you think this is FAIR?

Even if your deal was true... (lets say) and lets say you sold 5 to 10 items in a second (which is impossible) Why would you attract thousands of people for a product that will only be available for a couple of people? Why would you play with peoples time and energy like this? Of course we know the reason. It is in order to satisfy your selfish desire to fill your pockets with money by creating more traffic to your website.

If you were a real, honest and a FAIR website, at least you would have given a time frame for the WOW DEAL of 4 hours and you would state HOW MANY ITEMS YOU HAD AVAILABLE FOR THE DEAL. But of course, we know the reason you don't do it, and it is because if you would say how many items you had you would never have had attracted thousands of people to your website like you did on 8TH APRIL 2013 with the FAKE BLACKBERRY Z10 for 999AED. AND this is only supposing that your deal was real for a couple of people which we are sure is not the case.

Souq.COM I will always be here to tell the truth for THE PEOPLE you are hurting and deceiving with your SCAMS.
I will always be here to give FACTS not empty words with no real PROOF like you guys DO.

So please DEAR do your self a favor and STOP SCAMMING.

I just received and email from Khaleej Times (a Major Newspaper in Dubai) asking for my mobile number to talk about writing an article about Souq.com WOW DEALS.
But I don't know if I should do it. Or if is real that is Khaleej Times... Specially while providing my Mobile Number.
I am uploading an image with the email they sent me. So you can see it and tell me.

When I listen to people like you it gives me more courage to keep defending this cause.

Your comment only confirms once again how souq is able to deceive us using others people name in order to confuse and make us believe their deals were real.
Look how this j3poii threatens me by saying "The next move is yours, SOUQ is just waiting" what he is saying is definately because he is part of SOUQ and they are afraid of the media. So yes, now I will do as much as I can to let everybody know about this.

I will repeat, souq can say whatever they want. The fact is that your promo or deals are not regulated by any kind of regulatory company or by the government, therefore, there is NOTHING that can guarantee or make us believe in you after all of us experienced the BB Z10 deal being sold out in less than a second. And nobody was able to say they got the DEAL.

After 2 days Souq supposedly delivers the BBZ10 to four or five people and takes pictures of them to prove the deal was not a scam...but what does this prove? NOTHING! As far as I am concerned, these people are all part of souq.com and not real winners... And the worst part is, that nothing can be done to prove any of it is real.
INVOICES can be made up, photos can be faked and sent, comments can be posted by "happy customers"...the list goes of all the things they can do to state their deals are real and not just desperate measures to save their image.

The only way we can believe in their promos is:
1- If they say the time the WOW DEAL is going to be up. (They DO NOT want to do this because it will lower the amount of time the customers will be in their website.)
2- If they say HOW MANY ITEMS will be available. (They DO NOT want to do this because this will lower the amount of traffic in their website because people will already know their REAL chances of getting the DEAL)
3- If they contract a third party company as a regulator of the DEAL. or a government institution will be better. (They DO NOT want to do this because the WOW Deal is a SCAM.)

This is really the only way we can confidently say, YES ALL DEALS ARE REAL, and it is all we are asking, after this we will believe, not to mention make your customers happy and not waste their time. Because it will then be controlled by your side and our side, not only by SOUQ.COM, which is unfair.
We need this because your word can not be trusted... And it makes it worse when you try and cover up your mistakes including when participating on negative comments blogs.

So please dear, do yourself a favor and MAKE CHANGES, don't stoop any lower.

J3poii what is wrong with that is that there is no regulations on these Deal...
Must of the Countries where you do such schemes, or games or deal as you want to call it have a third party regulatory company that regulates the fairness and the reality of the Deal.
UAE is not asking them or forcing them to do this. Therefore the deal cannot be trusted.
They can do whatever they want and play with us as they like.

Before anything else my Dear i am going to talk with you with the respect a human being deserves.
I will tell you I was a seller and buyer in souq.com and I used to do it as a form of business.
I do not die to have a BB Z10 but why not to buy it for 999? I believed in souq and realize I was loosing my time bu doing it and thats not fair.
Listen, I am a justice lover. I love to be Fair and people to be treated as they deserve. That is why i have the courage and I invest the time to let people know the truth about souq.

Even though the WOW Deal though is not a raffle or a lottery it needs to be regulated because it can easily be used in the ways i already told you.
Or tell me my dear friend? Is it impossible that the deals are fake. Is it impossible that they are doing it just to attract people to their website making innocent people loose time? Is it impossible tey can make up invoices or make their own employees post on facebook that the deal is tru and take pictures of the to "prove" it is true?

And now lets say that the deal is true: for example 2-4 items sold:
Do you think is fair make someone loose their sleep and go to work without sleeping without letting them know there is only 2-4 items? Because trust me noone that sees this deal thinks about the offer being only 2 items. People are excited for it. At the end you guys are playing with these peoples feeling.
The only way to stop this to be able to happen is to have a regulatory company. As simple as that.
I am pretty sure you are from souq I can't imagine a customer trying to save a company reputation like this without winning nothing. Its just unusual. So if you are from souq let me tell you I will not stop this until you make the deal fair say the time give the quantity of a ailabke items and have a regulatory company. Or you stop the deals.

Please do not be offensive in your next messages if you want to answer. Keep it i. The respect way. Thank you.

They Did it again Today with the iPhone Deal making fool of the PEOPLE.
Now they are using a new strategy. Instead of publishing the item as sold out right away they are leaving the item on the website as if you are able to buy it. It shows 45% sold and when you hit BUY IT NOW you just get a SERVER ERROR...
SOUQ.COM You are so pathetic.

The only reason I did not do it is because I am not an EMIRATI. I am an expatriate. And you know that we dont have as many rights as an EMIRATI. I did not do it because I do have a business here and I dont know if the government is supporting SOUQ so I dont want any problem.

I dont believe they would support them if they know they are doing something illegal come on... I never said that. What i meant by government supporting them is that government has given them the right to operate in UAE. The thing is that SOUQ has the ways to make it look legal because there is nothing that is regulating them... So my Word would be nothing for them until they can proove them ilegal...
Is that all you can do blame it on me a person that is fighting for the right thing?
Come on... It is so obvious that these guys are doing something wrong.
If you were not part of them you wouldnt be supporting them come on Jeffrey let us be in our own complaint board there are many people affected and thats why they are here.

J3poii:

You have a good point. And I understand what you mean.
However,
Why does this always happen?
Why did it happen this morning again? Now in a different way: The Deal is available with 45% sold but nobody is able to buy it...
They should really stop this because even if they are selling only one (and this is giving them the benefit of the doubt as you requested) they are getting thousand of customers angry and wasting their time for a selfish desire of making money bringing traffic, popularity and accruing emails from customers.
And yes, They do have good prices and good Deals...
Also other bad things like horrible shipping and handling and low quality product sometimes. But is a young and growing company so this is understandable.

hey evidence enough is many people complaining and no clear evidence that the deal was true.

I checked the report... But at the end Souq will give a good explanation.
The good think is that... I think there will not be anymore wow deals.

We actually managed to make souq say at what time the deal was going to be live and to put in the advertisement that there is a limited quantity which is fair enough and we got to do a lot with it.

Exactly and a real customer would never spend hours of his live in this complaint board defending a company with so much passion as j3poii is doing!

This is the reason I strongly believe he is part of souq.com.
Anyway, we have already gotten what we wanted that is to stop the Wow deals.

Even on the last wow deal they had to state at what time the deal was gonna be on and that there is a limited quantity.

We have a Victory there Jake Real!
And thanks for your support Jake Real.
And J3poii also for being such a good person to argue with!

I am posting this on behalf of J3poii since he cannot post on the board for some reason!
It doesnt mean I agree with anytging he says.

@Jake Real
If your arguments were slammed right onto your face, that's what you do. You resort to demands which really don't matter. How do you prove something like that in a virtual place? Unless you want to meet me and my family and friends, how?
You are not making any sense. You're accusations are baseless. You can speculate and have doubt all your life for all I care but I will not give in to your demands just to satisfy you.
Answer the 3 points or you are just nothing.
I have invalidated your claim days ago. You are not making any sense.
The points I presented to you are facts. They don't have to come from Souq.com. They can be said by smart people too.
And by the way, I think one of the competing companies paid you to destroy Souq. There, I returned the favor. Prove that and you get what you want.
Now, do not stop barking. Lol. Then roll on your tummy. :)))))
(Note: I posted this yesterday and today, it didn't show. As a gentleman, can you post it for me? Thanks.)

Do you think they cannot afford to give away 5 iPhones discounted up to 50%? They spend a lot for the promotion of these Wow deals. Look at how many people has seen it on the internet. If you say they can, then what are you arguing? It means it is not fake. I told you I have been there. I have purchased a previous Wow deal. This is the reason I am here. I know what I am saying.

I have been there. I purchased a Wow deal before. Really what is your argument setting your bitterness aside? If they sold at least 10 or even 1 iPhone/iPad/BB Z10 on the previous wow deals your argument is already busted. If you don't have evidence, why don't you give them the benefit of the doubt? Don't they deserve it at least? You cannot deny that they are offering customers products that are much cheaper compared to market price. Speculating won't do you any good. Do you think they cannot afford to give away 5 iPhone 5's discounted 50%? After spending from internet ads? Come to think of it. I was trying to grab one today too, but I guess the competition has become really tight. Wow deals are always talk of the town especially in online. Faking it will be difficult. I don't think Souq will willingly gamble its reputation with some iPhone 5's (that is after spending so much from internet advertisements). Satisfied customers don't always post their experience, otherwise, you will only find minimum negative comments. Wow deal is an exemption of course. Thousands were waiting. But only a few were able to get one. How many Wow deals have passed, how many empty threats have been made. But Souq is still here. Ever wonder?

Just what are you fighting for again? Do you believe the government will support Souq if they are making these "scams" as you are posting everywhere? Are you implying that the Government of the UAE particularly Dubai will support a company doing illegal activities? You are in big trouble my friend.

So Souq.CON... No I didn't spell it wrong... You guys should really change your name to Souq.CON-Artists... Your WOW Deal is the sleaziest most sick, demented, filthy, low-down, desperate, despicable, downright dirty act expected only from a company run by people of the same caliber as their marketing (so-called) strategies. The person who came up with this idea should take a butter knife and cut off his...(Well you know the rest...) I have been up since 23:00 pm till 9:53, refreshing the "Deal of the Day" page ever second. My wife and I took shifts just to catch some sleep. At Exactly 9:30 the add just pops up as Sold. In a Second? Really? How foolish do you think the population of the U.A.E. is? I will wait for the next WOW deal... not to buy, but to reveal this fraud deal and slithering sleaze of an excuse for marketing, I will record every second of the day right up from 23:59pm till the Magic Deal appears on the page with clicks and refresh every second. I will then place the clip of the main scene on YouTube for the world to watch and on face book as well and for anyone who doubts me I will allow them to download the whole screen capture video to check ever second in real time. This is a PROMISE... Unlike the ones YOU have always made Souq.CON...If you have the BALLS... Accept the Challenge that "If i Prove that this is a Fraud advert for publicity your will no longer advertise for WOW deals and cease to have any further WOW deals in future... Do let me know if the unknown living creatures at Souq.CON have evolved to grow Balls or not... Anxiously Awaiting your Reply...

WOW.. I didnt know that DXB had such losers in this country...
Its a brand new released phone in the market for AED 999... you think their gonna give you infinity numbers of them or are you thinking their going to put up 100, 000 items on sale.
you guys say you'll are buyers. Rule 1 of being a buyer; Price Comparisons..*facepalm*..
You do realize that when you buy this same device from Axiom you get extra accessories.. coz i bought mine from there. And here they are giving just the phone and nothing else. So why again such a big fuss to sit online and wait for the deal when you can just hop skip and jump to the nearest sharaf and axiom showroom buy yourself a device if your so desperate?
THIS IS A PURE CASE OF THE GRAPES BEING SOUR.
Stop blaming a company who gives you the chance to get something for way below the market price and stop over expecting. ACT LIKE RATIONAL HUMAN BEINGS.

Souqscam: get a life, ... you have nothing to do but just keep responding . I hope you have a job apart from spamming the page and board here:)

My earlier post:
"Conspiracy theories. Please provide evidence. For all I know you can fabricate anything you want to accuse Souq but you cannot gain anything. You will just lose your face when the truth finally clears every doubt. You see, Souq is an online retailer and caters to sellers too. It needs traffic to the site, you are right. But you fail to understand that by giving promos like the previous Wow deals, it gains publicity, and eventually traffic to the site. Publicity and online ads cost money, and Souq spends by selling hot items at less than half the price (these Z10's may cost just a fraction of the online ads). Do you actually think that Souq cannot spend some amount of money for these Z10's? Does it have to fool people and risk its reputation for some amount of money? Think again. We are at the opposite side because I already purchased one of the previous wow deals. But if you just open your mind and think of the theories that you make, you will realize you don't make any sense and you sound like a bitter person who didn't get what you wanted."

"J3poii what is wrong with that is that there is no regulations on these Deal...
Must of the Countries where you do such schemes, or games or deal as you want to call it have a third party regulatory company that regulates the fairness and the reality of the Deal.
UAE is not asking them or forcing them to do this. Therefore the deal cannot be trusted.
They can do whatever they want and play with us as they like."

Souq's Wow deal is not in any way a lottery or raffle draw. It is a first come, first serve basis sale promo. You think it is a form of lottery or raffle because of the limited quantity but sorry, that is just wrong and misleading. Wow deal attracts a lot of potential customers, it is a marketing strategy. Many will complain about the Wow deal but most will be amazed at the low prices offered in their Deal of the Day page. I have been a seller at Souq, I've purchased a lot of items from the site, so far the only hassle I encountered is the delivery time which I don't mind most of the time (usually around 1 week). Souq derives its income from the commission the sellers have to pay and some profit from their online retailing. Have you sold or purchased anything from the site? Stop whining and complaining when the only time you go to the site is during the Wow deals which only shows how opportunistic you are. If you are dying to have the Z10 that you resort to making accusations and theories, why don't you go to the mall and buy it?

"After 2 days Souq supposedly delivers the BBZ10 to four or five people and takes pictures of them to prove the deal was not a scam...but what does this prove? NOTHING! As far as I am concerned, these people are all part of souq.com and not real winners... And the worst part is, that nothing can be done to prove any of it is real.
INVOICES can be made up, photos can be faked and sent, comments can be posted by "happy customers"...the list goes of all the things they can do to state their deals are real and not just desperate measures to save their image."

Conspiracy theories. Please provide evidence. For all I know you can fabricate anything you want to accuse Souq but you cannot gain anything. You will just lose your face when the truth finally clears every doubt. You see, Souq is an online retailer and caters to sellers too. It needs traffic to the site, you are right. "The only way we can believe in their promos is:

This is so funny I can't stop laughing. Hahahahaha! So funny! Hahahahaha. My tummy is aching from laughing. What a joke. Hahahahaha!

If you were lucky to grab one of their past wow deals, what will you feel when others think or decide it was fake without evidence? You only have theories. I bet that if you could only grab one wow deal, you will change your tone. If they decide to sell 1 item for half the price on a specified date, what is wrong with that? Think people. Think. Your bitterness clouds your way of thinking.

I Agree this guy is for sure SOUQ staff I can realize it by the way he is talking. And by the way he is sooo interested in making us believe is true... as souqscam said... Evrything can be made up there is nothing they can do to make us believe the previous DEALS were real.

But they can Make changes...

SOUQ>COM DO THIS:and we will believe again

1- If they say the time the WOW DEAL is going to be up. (They DO NOT want to do this because it will lower the amount of time the customers will be in their website.)
2- If they say HOW MANY ITEMS will be available. (They DO NOT want to do this because this will lower the amount of traffic in their website because people will already know their REAL chances of getting the DEAL)

All you people who are crying like babies, Souq's Wow Deal promo is not fake. It was a promo and there are some who got the deal. They have repeatedly posted that there were only limited quantities, what is so hard to understand about it? Maybe there were 10 items, or 50, what is your problem? Are they obliged to supply all customers with less than half the price? It was a PROMO deal. Move on and don't participate on the next wow deal if you'll just whine and make these conspiracy theories. And to the guy who received an email from Khaleej, what will happen to your story if the people who got the deal were presented? The next move is yours, Souq is just waiting.
I was not lucky with the BB Z10. But you can find attached the iPad2 I got last year for 999 AED. For the upcoming iPad mini, please do not participate. That will increase my chance of grabbing one. Hahaha.

I and my friend, along with scores of other people for that matter, stayed up since about 3 am and made a regimen of checking both the daily deals website and the homepage for any sign of the Z10. We refreshed pages continuously every minute or so ( my poor F5 button) and after wasting HOURS of our time, Souq .com goes ahead and posts the phone as Sold Out right from the beginning. Bunch of lying conniving scam artists who think they can take people for a ride! Well that's NOT going to happen! You have pissed off a LOT of people you con-men!.

Such a shame reason souq.com you have there! Why your system allow all of us to add the item in our cart without a guarantee that it is already ours and we can proceed for payment? Why we will waste our time on your wow deals having that crap system you have. Once we have item on our cart meaning the item already reserved for us and we can proceed for payment since we waited for this deal and monitor for long hours just to have the chance to get it!

Why your system allow all of us to add the item in our cart without any guarantee we can proceed for payment? Such a crap system! Once we have it on our cart meaning it should be ours and we can proceed for payment! It is fine if we did not have it in our cart meaning other member got the deal and we will accept it. But having it on our cart already is a different story! Such crap system you have there! You wasted our time and effort!

Hi Louie,

Please be aware that happened was due to the fact the last available items that were simultaneously added to cart by multiple users. While other users completed the checkout process before most of the buyers could hence automatically the site was updated to sold out for those who did not yet complete the checkout process yet. This is not an intentional action but a result of all the items being proceeded with and confirmed by other buyers first.

We once more apologize if you lost the chance the grab the deal but as we have mentioned we did not expect the over-whelming response to the deal and hence the limited quantity was sold out in a few seconds after being uploaded. We do have deals coming up in the future and we wish you the best in order to grab one of them that interests you.

Thank you.

You are a big liar! Just answer why our item already in card and ready payment suddenly moved to saved for later then the deal ends! Because of this we lost our chance to get the deal. Or maybe no offer in reality because you fool all of us! You wasted our time and effort!

To All Our Valued Customers,

Souq.com offers a variety of ways for shoppers to save money, two of these being the ‘Deal of the Day’ selection and the ‘WOW’ deal.

The ‘Deal of the Day’ selection was created to provide our customers with the best deals possible, every day, at low prices. These deals cover a wide range of product categories ranging from electronics, fashion, home and beauty, and are usually available in large quantities for a period of 1 to 4 days.

A ‘WOW’ Deal is offered to Souq.com customers on rare occasions where we are able to feature a certain product at a heavily discounted rate. Due to the massive discount on the price, this unique deal is only available in limited quantities. As such, the ‘WOW’ Deals tend to sell out within minutes or hours of being posted.

Today, as part of the ‘WOW’ Deals, Souq.com witnessed its most in-demand deal ever, where the BlackBerry Z10 sold out in just seconds. We were overwhelmed by the response from our customers, and, due to limited quantities, we weren’t able to meet such high demand.

We did expect strong interest on this deal, but frankly, this demand surpassed all of our expectations!

Moving forward, we will strive to let our customers know when stocks are limited on a particular product, and, in keeping with our promise to bring customers the best products at the lowest prices, we are now offering the BlackBerry Z10 at AED2, 149, the lowest price in the UAE, of which we currently have plenty of stock.

We would like to thank our customers for their understanding and continued loyalty to Souq.com

Thank you.

Souq.com UAE.

This guy Ali has been posting and claiming that he got one since 8 a.m. in the morning he sent the last message saying this at 8 pm... Why would a customer be so interested in trying to help Souq reputation? The reason is because ALI is not a customer is part of the SOUQ staff. Another reason to be afraid and want to be away from this SOUQ deceivers. This is low sooo low guys. I am sending an email to consumerrights@dubaided.gov.ae complaining about thhis as muzamal did. And please you should all do the same.
