Ok, now that I've come across the whole "Aldi" thing, I'm realising why a recent request to be contacted back by e-mail submitted via the on-line comments form was ignored. Obviously nobody at W-D cares any more.
Why the request? As it turns out, someone who knows little about web coding decided that using proper punctuation within the comments box was, VERBOTEN!
So as I wished to provide my observations and comments in an intelligent manner, I made that request to move to a proper forum.
To whit, here is the message to W-D Management which I hope in turn also warns people to be VERY careful about their shelf price tags.
"Sirs: this is the verbiage that the website was displeased with, mostly for my using proper punctuation it seems. (this should really be addressed as it’s only annoying customers)
“I’d like to advise that the shelf labels for this item (as per the form submitted) and the smaller version require correction. (photo attached)
The 1.5L (50.72oz.) is off a slight bit in the math for the cents/oz. figure which should be 38.62, but let’s chalk that up to rounding of the trailing decimal places, whereas the 1L (33.81oz.) bottle tag is very inaccurate as it's defined as 750ml (25.36 oz.) which totally skews the cents/oz. number. Shows 39.33 and it should be 29.54 cents/oz.
As well, by using the amount of 500ml, the 1L (1000ml) bottle is $4.99 per 500ml which indicates that the 1.5L (1500ml) should be $14.98.
If you are needing to charge the indicated price to cover the usual costs, it appears that the supplier is overcharging you.
Larger bottles are always a better deal, just look at the Bacardi in your liquor section.
I do believe this has been going on for a few years now as I recall seeing the same shelf tags in Daytona, (2022) then Cape Coral (2023) and this year (2024) in Seminole.
My regret is that I did not fathom this discrepancy sooner as having recently purchased two 1.5L bottles at the sale price of $17.99 with an added $1 off coupon ($16.99) was not as good a deal as the 1L bottles at regular price.
Thank you."
