This incident was on November 8, 2020.
A store employed yelled across store wanting to know where was my mask.
I responded that I could not wear due to medical reasons.
Went in to get shoes for 12 year old nephew who had a mask on.
Manager came to us and demanded proof of why I could not wear a mask.
I calmly showed him the Shelby County Health Depart Face Mask Directive NO.2 regarding exemptions from wearing a mask.
"(c) By persons who cannot medically tolerate wearing a face covering. No person, declining to wear a face covering because of a medical condition shall be required to produce verifying medical documentation."
In an extremely unprofessional and rude voice said he did not care about that and he wasn't selling us anything today and walked off.
My sister put on her grandson mask and went to counter so she could pay for the school shoes and grandson and I left the store.
I calmly went back in and showed him the American Disability Act documentation and he rudely said "I'm not talking to you and get out of the store several times".
I called the store to ask for manager and he answer and said he was the manager. I asked for his name and he said Michael. I asked for last name and he said Michael was all I needed to know.
Keep in mind during this incident, his mask was under his nose and he did not maintain 6' distance. It was 1-2' distance.
This will be the last time I enter your store. This behavior is unacceptable in a professional store and I refuse to be intimidated.
I hope you can look into this and resolve unprofessionalism in your store.
