Dollar General - Closed for months now

After this store was looted the manager said it would reopen in 2 weeks, that was almost 2 months ago and today they said 2 weeks again. There is nothing on the web about this and all I can find is its open, I live across the street and can say without a doubt it is not. I saw a large truck being unloaded this morning and another one 2 weeks ago. Why is Dollar General not posting anything about reopening? The people who live in the neighborhood only have this store to shop at or Rite Aid which everyone knows is a major rip off.

Dollar General - managment abuse

To Who May Concern:

Today on August 8, 2011 Monday morning, I went in to my place of employment Dollar General to check my schedule and to get references for a work project and other job opportunities. I been trying to get this reference form filled out for about a week now from fellow co workers and management, so far was only able to retrieve one, due to neglect and employee mistreatment. Lately for the past two wks I have been getting mistreated from the store Manager at Dollar General located on Tonawanda St. Riverside. I’ve been getting the cold shoulder, schedule or availability not considered or honored anymore and not to mention brushed aside whenever I had questions or concerned dealing with on the job & off the job issues by store manager (Missy). I’m really tired of the headaches and unfair acts. As an abiding citizen & employee of Dollar General I don’t deserve to be treated unfairly, not just me who suffers, but those around me as well. Something needs to be done ASAP! I can truly see why there is a high turnover rate here at this store; people can’t handle the in human acts or Manager Abuse of Authority. A month ago I gave a dollar general bag to a peddler who was outside our store harassing customers to get rid of him without raising alarm I told him he can just go collect bottles from trash cans in the neighbor hoods and get money that way from bottle deposits, so I gave him one of our 2cent bags to get him started. Missy the managers asked me what I’ve done and I told her, she yells at me, for showing compassion, instead her method was to call the police which in my eyes raise alarm and negative attention towards the store.
There have been many episodes similar to this one that is why I’m writing this letter, something needs to be done. I really do think her attentions are to have me quite or fire me along with others so she can make or have room for the employee budget. Her display lack of care with the public & work force has left a huge question mark on her Store Management Skills…. It would be nice to see something done about this matter; I can only pray that she won’t mistreat others that are an employee or customer!

To who may concern:
On August 23rd 2011, I Duane Reed was denied by store Manager (Missy) to sign a reference & transfer request letter, been trying to have her sign these documents for a little over two weeks instead was given the run a rounds excuses was given, that “I’m to busy, will get to it, when I can get to it”, it only took the other manager 5mins to fill out. Also Manager (Missy) would deliberately to degrade me or detriment my character in front of customers rather taking me to the side in the office and confronted me of a problem or any issues that she may have. And they tell us not to use cell phones but yet there are no two way radios of communication on the busses. Other bus companies have them, incase of an emergency. They also try to place blame on there workers: drivers and bus aides for there misfortunes and mistakes. Also we have been waiting for an office for a year and a half; they force the drivers to take on work loads that are not part of the job description or agreement upon hire. No other school bus company that I know, force drivers and aids to do personnel work, such as: time sheets, routes, call the parents; fuel the buses, light maintenance and minor repairs on the bus. There have been a couple times I had to fix or rig the bus in order for it to function or operate correctly. We have no yard person or mechanic on sight, like other companies do. The owner seems to be withdrawn from all obligations of his workers and his company. The owner doesn’t check or return messages from serious work related issues. He always seems to be away on vacation. Chuck Barone has been known on numerous occasions to short change his employees paychecks, since the companies existence. I witness, and heard employees getting let go, because of pay issues. I am concerned of loosing my job, just because of me writing this letter, and exercising my equal opportunities rights.

Yours Truly

Duane Reed
