Best Buy - Store experience

I am creating a complaint on the BestBuy store located on 7080 Youree Dr, Shreveport, LA 71105.

Date: 01/14/2023

I am making a complaint due to the lack of customer service skills shown at the BestBuy location stated above. On the date stated I contacted BestBuy customer service chat to check if I would be able to return my laptop purchased in December one day past the deadline for the return. The reason for the day delay on the return is because I was dealing with identity theft on the day, I intended to return it but sadly it took up my entire day to ensure my savings was not taken from me and my amazon account was not hijacked. I was advised that I should be able to return it with the good reason for the delay. I ended up going to the location stated above to explain the situation, but before I could explain the issue, the customer care rep turned me back and said, the deadline is final, and they would not be able to assist. I ended up calling the Customer Care chat again and was advised again that I could get a store credit for the return even if I was a day late which is why I went back to the store again, but this time asked for a manager. I ended up explaining my issue to the manager to which it seemed like she dismissed it because after I told her WHY I could not return it on time, she continued to ask "Why did you not return it within the time frame" which showed anything I said was ignored. When I brought up the fact that the Customer Service Chat advised she would be able to assist, the manager found the chat on the system then stated "They are working from home" like it's an excuse for them letting me know that I can. I feel like the Manager was being deceptive, unempathetic, and dismissive about my situation. If customer care which is BESTBUY advised that it can return the product for a store credit, but then the manager continues to say no... That shows someone is being deceptive in this situation. The customer care chat was amazing and empathic for my situation but the Rep and Manager at the location stated above were dismissive and unempathetic about the situation.

Desired outcome: Return on Purchase back to my BestBuy Credit Card or a Store credit for the amount I purchased the laptop for. An empathy training course to be completed by the representative (Nick) and manager (Nini).

We're extremely sorry to hear of your unfortunate circumstances.

Best Buy allows for returns on some merchandise, between 14 to an incredible 60 days. Restocking fees may apply. This can, of course, vary from one transaction to the next. Take the time to readdress your concerns with the Best Buy you made the purchase through. It's possible that, even if the merchandise is determined to be non-returnable, that there may be a way to resell the equipment and receive part of your money back.
