I was hired on to load beets in the Nampa project. Was told that we would recieve a small mileage reimbursement for having to travel to different pile grounds, found out that if the pile grounds are within 20 miles of the factory those pile ground are called local and no payment. We had 3=12 hours shifts where there was no porta potty, everyone had to go in the pile grounds because we couldn't leave. The supervisor Doug told us that there weren't any porta potties available for 2 days. 1 guy had to leave his travel trailer in the yard because his truck broke down and they wanted him in LaGrande to load for 2 days over thanksgiving. They wouldn't let him have the next day off after getting back so he could get his trailer home and get it winterized. It turned really cold and the trailer froze up, damaging the water system. Now he is looking at about 2, 000 to get it fixed. The supervisor Doug chewed him out over the radio about being nice to the truck drivers and that he needed to tell them where he wanted them to be, but the drivers are suppose to wait until the loader gets positioned per company policy and they don't. Doug was doing a ride along with a driver when he chewed the operator out. You don't know where you are going until you call the office and then sometimes they don't know. The managers will not do up a work schedule and so sometimes you are late getting to a pile ground because you were working at one closer to your house and when you find out which one you are going to its in a different direction and further away. Bad way to treat employees. They promise that they will make it right either by paying extra time or something else and it never materializes on the paycheck. I think that they president of the company knows what is going on and because there are so many people looking for work, they don't have to treat them very good. I wonder what they would do if somebody was to contact the media and tell them about going to the bathroom in the pile areas. I would think that the sugar beet factories would be looking for a new company because their product would be negatively being affected. For a company that hauls commodities, they don't take care of their people. FOR ANYBODY LOOKING FOR A JOB, I WOULD SAY RUN AWAY FROM THEM AS FAST AS YOU CAN AND LOOK ELSE WHERE!
