Me and my fam were on the hunt for Mandarin Chinese lessons for our kids, but we wanted them to learn traditional Chinese chars. Not many options out there, ya know? But TutorABC Chinese was super accommodating to our requests.

We started out with 25min lessons, but they were flexible enough to let us try out 45min lessons too. It's tough predicting how long kids can stay interested, so this was a huge plus.

So far we've had four lessons with TutorABC Chinese and the kiddos are diggin' it.

We had to talk to customer support a bunch cause of a few unusual things we needed, like our Chromebook not being supported by the TutorABC Chinese app. But holy moly, they were quick to respond - only took 'em four hours from my report to release a new version of the app that supports Chromebooks. That's beyond awesome! Chromebooks are super popular with school kids too, so it makes it really handy.

I really appreciate how I always get the same tech support person for emails and phone calls. It's so much easier that way, cause I don't have to explain everything all over again. It's such a contrast to other companies where I have to explain things over and over again to different people. Only downside is I can only reach customer support in the evening California time. Not a huge issue, but just something to keep in mind.

We used the TutorABC Chinese Android app and it worked like a charm! It even works well on Chromebooks. They also have a Flash app, but I don't think it works on Chromebooks - at least I haven't figured out how to use it. But they're gonna switch to HTML5, which should work even better on even more devices. I think there's also an iPhone app, but I dunno.

Let me preface this by saying I'm not really a "tiger mom" or anything, I just wanted to give my daughter the opportunity to learn Mandarin as an American-born kiddo with Chinese parents. I spent more than an hour and a half on the phone with them, while they remotely took control of my computer without my permission. Although they did apologize for it, deep down, I still feel that it was completely unethical and unprofessional of them to not keep my privacy in mind while dealing with my technical issues.

It wasn't a one-time thing though. Every time I attend a class, I always seem to encounter one technical issue or another. Sometimes, the sound quality is so bad that I cannot even hear what the teacher is saying. Other times, the Java application wouldn't just work, leaving me helpless in the middle of the class.

And when I do manage to get it working, some random pop-up would show up, distracting me from the class. To top it all off, after several classes, I can only say that I have learned very little. I don't know how anyone can learn a lot from a class that gets hindered by technical issues.

Long story short, I'm pretty frustrated, and honestly, a little bit upset that I spent my hard-earned money on something that not only turned out to be a joke but also a COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. So I advise all potential future customers to BE WARNED before investing in this program.
