Pima OTA/PTA Program

PIMA has been horrible to do business with. My boyfriend was looking into the OTA/ PTA program there so I went to check it out for him. Upon going there I talked to a guy named Mark who was a complete arogrant idiot. He was not able to anwser any of my questions and instead acted as though I was not important. When my boyfriend and I tried to get a hold of someone on the phone to talk about availablity for the September program we left numerous voice mails and even had people say they put sticky notes on someone's office named "Jane" who they kept connecting us to. She of course never returned any of our phone calls. Finally by boyfriend sent them an email. They of course did not read the email and must have skimmed through it because in his emails he says that his girlfriend visited the college and in their reply they not only do not anwser any of his questions but refer to me as his "sister". Really? You can't read a 3 line email? Ridiculous right! Then my boyfriend sends him a message back to complain about them not reading the email...and what does he get but a very rude email from Mark stating it is a "privilege to attend PIMA". Bull crap...it definitely was not a privilege to be in contact with Mark and if he is the type of person who is working for PIMA Mesa Campus we want exactly nothing to do with him or the schoool.

I read a few complaints and what I see a lot is that people fail to understand that college means reading the material on your own and learning the material on your own. You cant expect to just learn from a lecture. I went thru a respiratory therapy program, and quickly learned that in college, everything you learn is from reading your books. The lectures supplement what you should concentrate your attention on for tests and for boards. Always read a chapter or 2 ahead and you will succeed. But the biggest thing I can advise all students regardless of their degree is read your books and you will learn. I had instructors that wouldn't even stick to the topic because classmates would take a lecture entirely off topic and waste everyone`s time. But its not the program(s) its usually the student.
A former college instructor once told me "A good rooster will crow in any chicken coop"...a good student will succeed in any environment...That is something that I still believe to this day.
Best Of Luck To You All

After reading of so many complaints I realized I wasn't the only one. I too, was a victim of poor business & instructor of Pima. I went to Pima several years ago & did great for some time. The instructor was a young female that had numerous personal dramas that she continually shared with the class on a daily basis. She made it known who she liked & didn't care for in a very unprofessional manner. I did great for the 1st couple of months then she decided I was her victim of choice for dislike. I went from passing to failing in a matter of weeks for invalid claims about my work. I have always done well in school & in employ. I thought I was going to Pima to improve my skills not create debt I would be paying for years. I went to the school Director at the time & explained the situation & next thing I knew I was in the office with the Director & instructor she lied & the Director believed her. There were other students that wanted to complain but were afraid of repercussions. I continued to attend class but realized this girl had made it her personal vendetta to fail me due to my complaint. I finally gave up &; left the program & school only to be left with paying for a student loan for years to come. I found out later they finally fired the instructor after they got other complaints but I was still left with the student loan that they reaped the money on & didn't deliver what I was sold due to the poor instructor & management.. I felt that the Director that I had originally spoke to should've gotten back to me & informed me of the changes & given me the opportunity to complete the program that I am still paying the government for that they collected funds on as I was not the problem but their poor choice of employee.

The PTA program at PIMA Mesa is not all it's cracked up to be. I'm currently a student there. Here are a few problems you may want to consider:
- The Anatomy teacher doesn't know her material. The class has to tell her the answers to most of what she is 'teaching'. When you ask her a question about the material she says "I don't know" and "don't worry too much about it". Don't worry about my knowledge and the quality of my education?!?
- The Intro to PTA instructor will never answer student's questions. You will become very familiar with her catch-phrase, too... "what does the book say?". Yes, we are responsible for reading the class material, but if you do that and need clarification, you will not get it in this program. Either the teachers aren't properly screened for knowledge, or they are just getting paid not to care.
- I didn't sign up for this program to enter a high school setting where the teachers are the ones giving attitude at any (reasonable, mind you) question. This is supposed to be a learning establishment. Not a popularity contest with the teachers; not a place where you keep your mouth shut and pay $25, 000 to scrape what info you can out of the reading material. I'd skip the program to buy the books online and teach myself of I could - it's basically what I'm doing now.
Parts of this program are great - it's shorter and it's accredited. But you pay A LOT more for sub par knowledge here. If you can wait for Gateway, do it. Save yourself the money and be better prepared to enter the field as a PTA. I hope this is helpful.

Pima EVEYRTHING

I graduated from PIMA in October 2009. I was so excited I learned so much and had a great extern. By the way I was in the med. assisiting program. My teachers were amazing. The placement SUCKS! They don't even care about graduates. Their job placement is sending you emails with jobs from craigslist and monster. I can look those places myself. They went through placement people like crazy. I do not even have a job in my career field and I have had a lot of interviews its just I don't have enough experience. I would not go to this school. I just don't think that their accredidation is good! I tell people that I went to this school and they say its hard to find a job after going to that school. I graduated with some people that were good at what they do and not a lot have jobs.
