Qantas Airways review: Connecting flights

On 28th July my husband and I were booked on a Brisbane to Mt Gambier ticket leaving at 12.50am and arriving at 17.05. We arrived at the airport after checking out of our accommodation so in plenty of time for our flight. Then we waited! Our scheduled departure time came and went…and still we waited! I became very anxious and advised the boarding gate attendants that we had a connecting flight to Mt Gambier. I also advised the flight attendant on the plane who offered to tell the pilot (who contacted Adelaide) The other passengers were wonderful and allowed us to weave through them to be standing at the door ready to bolt as soon as it was opened! We rushed to the boarding gate to find it closed! The attendants knew of our predicament and we were directed to a desk opposite gate 22 where we were told that there were no more Quantas flights that night or the next day, but REX had a flight that night. We rushed to the other end of the terminal to secure our seats, then down to the luggage carousel to retrieve our luggage, checked our bags in with REX and then waited I might add that both of us are in the late seventies and all this rushing around and uncertainty was extremely debilitating! The REX fares cost us an extra $402.38 but received a refund of $174.20!
