First I accidentally hit the $39 option to buy this instead of the 7 day trial option. Ok, figured it’d probably be worth it in the end so I accepted my mistake. A few days later I had the chance to chill in nature so opened the app for the first time. Recognized my first mushroom so I was excited. Tried identifying several more species of plant & mushroom to NO AVAIL! Error messages kept appearing saying can’t identify, then eventually it says I must further unlock the app to take more than 5 snaps per day. How in the heck are you charging ppl $40 then addition $10 for ad free version?! The lifetime $39 should include ad free allowing unlimited photo snaps! I sure wish I could get a dang refund! This app is a rip off and needs to be reported….. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GET A BETTER PERFORMING PLANT APP FOR LESS MONEY! I am extremely upset with this entire ordeal, ugh!

I installed this app because I couldn't find a way to identify a plant that was given to me by Googling it. It did eventually work--the mystery plant is called diffenbachia--but it took multiple attempts to get that far, and the app incessantly reminded me all the while that I only have a limited number of free snaps before I would have to pay. The app was completely unable to identify my bamboo. I can't give it one star, because it works (eventually), but I can't justify any more than two because of all the bloat (that useless tutorial did not help me take better photos and was a complete waste of time) and the frustration in getting the pictures taken successfully. There's something very irritating about the app circling leaves, inviting me to explore them, returning zero relevant results, and then ticking down my remaining number of free pictures, all before I've pressed the picture button.

I’ve taken snaps of all kinds of common ornamental trees and fruit trees around my yard and it ends up being accurate about 20% of the time. Yes.. I am taking the pictures correctly. No.. I do not want an offer to watch the million and one instructional YouTube videos you give everyone else. I have seen enough of this app to know it is hit or miss at best. I snapped a pic of a simple Papaya tree in my yard.. fruit and all included in the snap, and it literally told me it was everything BUT Papaya. C’mon guys.. your accuracy is lacking in a big way.. and continuing to answer everyone’s complaints with copy/paste passive-aggressive “solutions” that don’t work for any of these people, is not the answer. I will wait for my response from you that will be the exact same response you give to everyone else explaining how I need to learn how to take pictures with my phone.. Let the app deletion commence.

I spend a lot of time hiking and learning new plants. I enjoy learning about wild edibles and wildflowers among other things. I also enjoy learning about the need to prioritize the preservation of wildlife habitat. The app sounds like a good idea. However this app has completely failed. For example I have just recently taken clear photos of blooming common chickweed and the abundant golden ragwort. The app does not correctly identify either. Moreover it provides a list of potential alternatives that are also incorrect. The app does nothing to promote the Id of wild invasives such as garlic mustard that are ruining the ecosystem. The app sends lots of emails soliciting upgrades to the fee version. This is not surprising considering that the free version does not work at all. Do not bother with this app and do yourself a favor and read Peterson’s wild edible plants books and Rachel Carson’s A Silent Spring.

There is not very good accuracy on this app. Even in the example photos for search results, there are some pictures included which are clearly a different type of plant. For example pictures of blackberry as examples of a thimbleberry. I encountered this on several different plant example picture sets.
One way they could improve results is to select a latitude and longitude for where a picture was located and use that to weight the results. For example reduce the probability that a plant pictured in Oregon is one that is native to a tropical region like Hawaii.
Another way to improve is to allow users to set the rough size of the plant: tree, bush, plant, ground cover. I took a picture of a part of a tree to get closer up detail on its flowers and leaves and it was identified as a ground cover.
Also the recommendations about growing the plant are not specialized and say: check the light requirements of the plant. Instead of telling you its light requirements.

Every time that I log on, the app asks me to sign up for a membership. After paying for a 12 month membership, the app continues to request me to pay for another 12 months. While the app states that my membership is current for another 11 months, the app remains non-functional — unless I commit to another 12 months. There is no guarantee that another 12 months of commitment is going to fix this issue.

There is literally no way to contact the developer through the app and figure out how to fix this. Re-installing the App did not work. Attempting to contact them online did not work. As far as I can tell, the app is simply a money-grab.

To further annoy me, when submitting a photo of a common desert plant in the Mojave desert of California and sharing my location to help narrow possible results, the top result of some weirdo plant from Egypt.

Add the membership issues to the poor identification results and I am absolutely and completely annoyed and feeling completely ripped off.

I downloaded this app because I brought home a handful of plants that didn’t have proper identification cards or “how to care for” slips like there usually do when you buy them at the garden center, and yes i will admit that this app helped me identify one of the mystery plants and gave me relatively good info and care tips
but I just noticed when trying to identify the other plants they always pop up as something completely different
(Ex: One plant is just grows basic oval shaped leaves and has no budding that would indicate flower or fruit growth- but when going through the app its labeled as a type of flower a succulent and even a Venus Flytrap)
I know it’s difficult to be able to identify one simple plants when there is literally billions of plant species but some of the options just didn’t tie up with the actual plant- maybe something is bugging out with the camera?
Maybe the app just needs a little run through and tune up!

Other than that I think this app can be very helpful when you need to identify some plants!

Update: I use this app every now and then to see if it can help identify a plant but most times it’s wrong and searching on google usually gives me a lot better results. I stick to what I said. The app is decent, DECENT, at best and doesn’t deserve anything above two stars. As for the developers of this app, they DO NOT take constructive criticism from consumers well. In turn they rather leave passive aggressive comments instead of improving their sub par app. All of us from the plant community appreciate your efforts but we’d rather not hear back until your app is in working market condition. Appreciate your feedback but again... NEXT.

Another update: If you see any positive feedback for this app, more than likely it was made by the developer. The reviews that state this app works, are clearly just the developer trying to put good reviews to outweigh the bad. Don’t waste your time with it, trust all the bad reviews... the app is terrible at identifying. I use the app ‘PICTURE THIS’, isn’t the best but does a heck of a lot better job at identifying than Plant Snap.

Ok I was skeptical but I am a real person and this app really works. LOL Like most people, I buy plants then forget what I bought. I have used it to identify 5 personal plants and one camera roll pic that I took while traveling out of state. I was able to say with confidence that the app gave me an accurate result on each. The fern was a little tricky but that’s a tough one. My fiancé also tried, failed and gave up. Haha I tried to inform him (without gloating) that he simply didn’t give it a chance. Here are my tips:
1.) Feel free to lift branches/reposition flowers to put the plant in an ideal position. That way you are sure to get flowers and leaves in the same shot.
2.) Do not expect the result preview to be the same color/size as your exact plant. (My fiancé’s mistake. Hehe) Keep in mind that plants come in several varieties. A quick google search can help you narrow results and find your exact variation for confirmation.
3.) SAVE! Once you find your winner, don’t forget to save the result. I plan to use mine to make plant name tags so my visitors can enjoy knowing more about the beauty they are seeing.

I was excited to first use this app and even looked at tutorials to try and get it to identify plants better but in the end I have to agree with almost everyone else and say that this app doesn’t work as it should even when “used properly” the developer team just copies and pastes responses to the reviews and are very passive aggressive, and claim to be here to help but in reality they just want to appear like they are ready to help, but in fact have no desire to fix their mediocre identification app OR to help people “properly use” the app, they are all about appearances and want to give the illusion that they are doing -anything- the bad reviews are right, and if you take a look at the developer responses to them, you’ll see a pattern of rude deflection without tackling any real issues it’s basically just “our app works, you’re not using it right, we can’t help you use it right if you don’t taaalk to us” well people have tried, left their reviews, and done their part, the only problem left is the actual developers not thinking they did any wrong and telling others it’s their fault. This app and the makers are NOT EVEN WORTH THE TIME. Move along to ‘picture this’ at least that one can’t identify simple herbs.

I work at an aquarium store and when we buy our plants sometimes they come without identification, so I would love to use this. I tested it on an Amazon sword since I know exactly what that looks like and didn’t find Amazon sword under any of the matches, but it’s not like it isn’t trying because the matches are decently close, I just think it’s possible they haven’t expanded fully to underwater plants. Will continue to use and also did y’all know it can be used through Snapchat? Just hold down the screen like when you’re looking up a song.

Update: the developers are quick to respond and are very interested in improving this app. I gotta say I’m impressed, especially since this is not an easy task to do. Botanists tend to look for key identification factors when naming a plant and those can be hard to find in one photo, especially from far away, and when every individual plant is different the same way we humans vary from person to person. Some of these key identification factors are so minuscule that it’s possible you won’t see great results with older generation cameras. I’m working with a iPhone 12 Pro and it’s gotten a handful of them right. Also it identifies marijuana strains as indica or sativa which is a fun party trick.

Have had the app for nearly a year, and have used it many times, sometimes to test it with known entities, more often with genuine look-up attempts. It provides correct plant ID about 50% of the time, and can miss wildly. I’ve now deleted the app, reasoning that a guide that’s right only half the time is worse than no guide at all. Great idea, poor execution.

Update: See developer response, below. It seems they think the primary problem is user error. FWIW, I had already read and followed the instructions to the letter in attempts to help it perform better. It did not. An example of the app’s performance: given a well-lit photograph, from above, of a smartweed plant (a useful ID to be able to make), including several leaves in typical formation, and flowers, the app repeatedly identified it as “common pokeweed”. Which is...not even close. And this wasn’t the only instance of wildly off identification. But on top of poor ID performance, the information often given in relation to the (alleged) ID, when following the offered link, is often irrelevant, poorly presented, and/or just plain wrong.

To sum up—the developers need to up their game, not suggest that users should have to read instructions, watch YouTube videos, and hire an IT expert in order to use the app effectively. And even then, if the app can’t be used, with reliable results, without outside resources, well, it’s simply not a good app. I’ve now down-graded it to a one-star review.

Update 4: For anyone wanting to try this app, please read the developer responses to my feedback to see how unprofessional and discourteous they are.
The reviews are either one star or five stars. Reading them would identify which are real and which are not. There’s zero support and subscription money is a waste. Very surprised at the developers claim that they are being promoted by Apple and Google!

Update 3: It’s been 3 weeks and I haven’t changed my opinion. I was directed to write to customer support, and their response takes a long time (as opposed to 24-hours mentioned). I sent pictures for helping in identifying. No other reply received than the standard automated acknowledgment. This app is either unfinished or fake. Either way, best to ignore the fake reviews and read the real ones that capture the limitations. I don’t understand why such developers are allowed to offer subscriptions on App Store.

Update 2: Seems this developer spends all time retaliating to real reviews here. 96% identification rate is a false claim and this should be checked by Apple. There is no support other than an automated email. They claim that real botanist can help in identification but not so in practice. Most reviews are fake. Better free options available. My suggestion is to stay away from this one. Check for yourself before subscribing.

Update: After the developer response to the review, I contacted them through email as suggested. However, they do not send any reply. What’s the point in paying a subscription or a high upfront fee if the promised service can not be provided? Further, they claim a 24x7 support through LIVE global agents but in reality it’s nothing more than an automated acknowledgement.

The 5 trial pictures are not enough to test the app. Asked to pay monthly or an expensive upfront. Success rate of identification is not even 5%. AI and auto modes are useless. Send pic by email for identification but no reply. Lengthy and confusing instructions to put the fault on the user. Big claims but bad performance.

I love this app, but I am really ticked off because I feel like I've been ripped off. Twice I've emailed the PlantSnap people to find out about a pricing issue. After the first email I received an automated response. After my second email to them, I never heard anything back, not even an automated response. It's been a few weeks since my first email, and I'm still waiting for an answer to my question.

This is what happened. I was told about the app by someone I know, so I downloaded the free version just to check it out. I really liked it, so I decided to go with the paid version. From within the free app, I clicked to upgrade and was given a couple of choices. I remember that there was a $9.99 annual subscription, or a lifetime subscription for $29.99. I know I will be using this app for a long time to come, so I decided to go with the lifetime subscription.

About a week later, I was telling someone about the app and went into the App Store to show them what to look for. When I searched for PlantSnap, lo and behold there was another option listed in the App Store, PlantSnap Pro for $19.99. I checked that out, and from everything I read, it appears to be the exact same thing as the Lifetime version that I had just paid $29.99 to purchase. There had been a third option available when I went to upgrade through the free version of the app, but it was not the PlantSnap Pro version. I certainly would have gone with that had I known about it.

Anyway, it's been at least 3 weeks since I emailed Plant Snap through the app, asking what, exactly, is the difference between the lifetime PlantSnap and PlantSnap Pro, and if by not showing the Pro version as an upgrade through the free app, were they just ripping their customers off to get an extra $10.00 out of them. Since I can get no response from these people, I am now turning to Facebook. I will also copy what I've just written here and post it as a review in the App Store in order to let others know what they're getting into.

Enjoy the app, but do your research before buying.

(P.S.) I’d like to add that I posted this on PlantSnap’s Facebook page just before I posted this review. Now, several hours later, I still cannot see my post on their Facebook page. There are a lot of other user posts, but not mine. They must be blocking it. Whatever you do, do not try to reach customer support for this app.

Anything beyond a super common houseplant is identified so laughably incorrect that it is truly impressive there’s a paid version of this app.

Now, I know the first thing that happens every time that this app gets a negative review (And I am in no way convinced any of the positive ones are real), is that the automated condescending response telling you the app is perfect and you just didn’t watch the tutorials and are using it wrong gets plastered in the replies.

#1: I watched your tutorials. #2: I use INaturalist, I know how to take a photo of a plant for machine learning to try to identify. #3: Pretending every single person who gives you a negative review is doing something wrong looks impressively deflective. I know the same tired old shtick will be drug out to claim that I am doing it wrong even though I somehow have no problem so long as I give the app something really really extremely low effort. That’s all this dev is apparently up for doing. Blaming the customers for their own shortcomings. Not a great look, fyi.

So here’s what using this app looks like: You have a couple super common houseplants you test it on after it fails anything remotely difficult just to make sure it can in fact identify a plant at all. Result? Spider plant is understood. Heart leaf philodendron? Great. Two seconds of google would get you either of those plants too.

A common weed got into the family of the plant, albeit not the correct one in specific. That’s not bad.

Now let’s give it a medium difficulty. In this case it at least guessed leaf shapes similar to the Viburnum I showed it, but never got particularly close.

Now let’s give it a hard challenge, the actual plant I wanted identified because I don’t know what it is. So incredibly bad it might as well have identified it as “a rainbow”. Nothing in common with the plant. It called a five-pointed, rounded lobed leafed plant on a vine a nightshade. A maple tree would have been more accurate than a nightshade. At least that has five points. But this app developer is going to tell me I don’t use the app right to explain why I can successfully get common plants identified and nothing beyond that. Yeah. Makes sense. I can only correctly use the app when the plant is real common right? Couldn’t possibly be that machine learning is only as good as its database, and this ones database is very poor, and with the “It is your fault” attitude of the devs, not likely to improve much over time. Thank goodness there’s less toxic devs out there doing plant Id apps than this.

On July 6, I signed up for a free 1 - week plant snap trial . My credit card was charged but failed because the expiration date was expired. The same day, I got an email asking me to update the credit card info. I did that and I saw the order & charge come true (see data below).

But my plant snap app is not working since the trial expired. It doesn't know I have subscribed.

How to fix this issue so I am not charged again.

Update 10/9: Apple again contacted me with links to what they think is poison sumac. To Apple: sumac is NOT the same as poison sumac. Sumac is actually an herb. Poison sumac is toxicodendron vernix. Look it up.

Update 10/7: Apple contacted me to request that I send the app folks some photos of the poison sumac, which I did. I sure hope it helps other people. Very please that Apple contacted me to help improve the app. Adding a star.

Tried to identify whether a plant was a weed or what...app identified it as Indian hemp, so I pulled it out. Well, it turned out to be poison sumac..took me a month to get rid of the itchy red bumps!

I have been testing this app in my yard. Out of 30+ plants I tried, it only correctly identified 2. Yes, only 2!
I tried each one manually and using the auto detection. Same results either way.
Also, after each attempt at identification, I was unable to start over by hitting the close button. To start a new ID I had to force close the app and restart it every time.
I’m not trying to trick the thing. I have mostly native plants to the Ohio area. Both chosen plants and weeds.
This app identified trees as vines, hostas as trees and made many other mistakes that just made no sense to me.
Don’t waste your money! I paid for a lifetime on this thing, and lost the money.

I tried multiple times to identify a tree taking photos of the leaves, and each time it gave different wrong answers for the same tree, even using the same photo. Tried following the video tutorials and the written instructions, and it didn’t work.

Next, I signed in using my email, and I have all of a sudden been getting random spam emails that I was not getting before today, and it started within an hour of first signing interior this app, so they apparently sell your email right away. Not happy with this app, and warn you not to give away your information like this. There is enough junk email out there, without needed no to get more just to try to identify one or two trees.

I down loaded this app and tested its knowledge on all my house plants and it got every single one of them wrong including my tomato plant! To bad, I have wanted someone to make an app like this for years! I guess I will keep waiting till I find one that actually works.

UPDATE:
Received a response from the developer stating the app is accurate if I used it properly and provided video links on how to use it. Sorry but if the initial directions given when the app is down loaded isn’t good enough than you app isn’t accurate end of story. No one should need to watch multiple videos just to get your app to work properly! Talk about putting it back on the customer! No thanks, I’m good.

It’s a pretty cool product—but I’d almost rather scrap it altogether.

I get that you need to cover development costs and invest in maintenance.

But figure out a different way to implement ads. So incredibly intrusive. In-app ads always generate negative or angry sentiments toward a product that invades my concentration. I routinely swipe past/never click-thru. I wouldn’t think advertisers think this is effective—but clearly someone must click or they wouldn’t be there.

I have to divert mental thought on my plant search to visually separate ad-from-meaningful-content. I resent that effort.

Either offer a free product or require payment at the start—the present version is intolerable.

The app is fairly intuitive and easy to use. I find the limit on the number of pictures you can take on the free app super obnoxious since it’s full of ads and that is generally where apps differ between free and premium.

But the biggest issues is that it is not identifying trees correctly. For many of them, the options listed would have very little similarities (other than having green leaves). And then a pop up would appear suggesting you look at the tutorials, which I did - they were, essentially, useless. Anyone using the app to the point where that pop up would have appeared would have already grasped the fundamentals shown in the tutorial videos.

Punchline: really glad I didn’t pay for the premium app.

This alright for someone who has basic plants that pretty much everyone knows. If you start getting more sophisticated than your basic veggie plant or house plant this app is highly inaccurate. I had a holly plant and when I submitted it the app said it was a Ligustrum japonicum, which it wasn’t. It was a Ilex cornuta (Chinese holly). None of the suggested plants was even in the family. In order for someone to get a more sophisticated answer you have to submit it to the their botanist which takes a few days or more for an answer.

I wouldn’t pay $14.99 monthly or $29.99 once for something that 95% the botanist will have to help me. If the developers improve the app to be more precise and accurate it might be worth it.

Amazing app! But there’s just 2 problems. I wish you had the option to turn on or off friend requests. The second issue is that there’s this one user that you might want to look into. Her name is Beate, from Germany and her profile is a picture of her in front of a candle or a candle next to her. She’s just really critical and seems like she’s mad that she doesn’t get enough likes on posts. Other than that, I’d love the way you took the time to read this like how most people wouldn’t. But if you could tell Beate to just accept my friend request that would be very great. And she just ignores the request I’ve tried it like 5 times already and am still trying but she just well refuses to accept the request requested. Thanks.

I never leave reviews but I’ve used this app a ew times and although it identified my plant halfway (it didn’t really identify the plant to be honest) I felt like it was a scam or some foreign organization trying to obtain my information. In this day and age you can’t be too careful so I chose to delete the app. The instructional video in a foreign language the way they send you an email with multiple links urging you to click them and the title of the email saying PLEASE READ in all caps... what app does this?! None that I’ve seen. However I have seen these in the warning video that my company sends out about internet scammers... so hey if I were you I would use another plant app this one just seems too sketchy and it doesn’t even work perfectly.

At times PlantSnap accurately identifies plants, especially “easy” ones. In my experience, though, it gets it right only half the time. I know this because it has misidentified plants I already knew and other times it was clear from leaf or flower structure or color that the app was in error. This is also true of other plant apps.

My biggest complaint is this: I paid for Pro and got nothing for it. I bought it on my iPhone phone but it wouldn’t upgrade on my iPad. I sent in several pictures to their experts for identification and not once got a response. I wrote to them 3 times and received nothing but an automated response. They promise good service and I got no service. Bad news!

If you want the app, take the free version but keep in mind that accuracy is spotty.

I was kinda let down while using this app even though it’s pretty simple the mechanics are slightly difficult. there’s a bit of *laggingwhen it comes to scrolling or just trying to use the app in general. the features are pretty *limitedto where you can only take *10 pictures every 5 hoursand *adspop up from time to time. you can also choose to pay a monthly fee of $2 or a 1 time fee to unlock everything which is about $25. it’s also a struggle that it takes a *few tries for it to actually identify and plant correctlywhich leads to you using up the majority of your tries. I hope to see some sort of improvement to when it comes to helping consumers and a nice feature I think should be added on are instructions on how to care for said plant and what region its mainly found in.

Way too inaccurate for it to be considered as anything serious to work with. First, the “free” version allows you only 10 tries a day. Not bad, I thought. But when I had to try 3 times to identify a simple house palm plant, and 2 tries to identify a fishtail palm (it can’t get any easier to identify a tree than a fishtail palm due to its unique leaves), I realized that on just 2 plants I wasted 5 of my 10 wishes! Plus 1 rose and 1 Narcissus, 7 out of 10 tries gone in 10 minutes! Meanwhile, the ads did not miss a beat. Talk about bombardment. So, if you’re going for a hike, curb your enthusiasm or cough up $15 a year!
They simply put a beta version out to make some money with the ads and lure in the users with a loose purse. Not worth the frustration of trial and error,...error,...error!

Had three plants to identify, all the same plant. Couldn’t wait to use this app to identify the plants my kiddos planted and that we all forgot what they were. This app ended up being such a let down. It kept matching my plant image with plants that didn’t look anything like it. As a photographer, I know how to take photos and understood exactly what the app needed to identify the plant. I paid to upgrade so I could submit the photo to the professionals to identify it and still haven’t heard back - it’s been over a month. What a waste of money. I asked a neighbor with a little more plant knowledge than I had, which isn’t much and he knew instantly what it was. I confirmed his guess with google in less than 2 minutes. Cancelled my monthly subscription and can’t help but feel taken a bit.

I tried to get this app to identify 5 different plants, even though I knew what they were. This app got them all WRONG!
UPDATE: I was sent an email with developer response to my review, saying that "tens of millions of people use PlantSnap every day with great success" & "to frame the photo properly" & "Do you want to update your review?" So this is my update.
I have used 2 other plant identifier apps, taking snapshots all in the same way. This app was the only one that identifies incorrectly. The other 2 apps (Plant Identify & Picture This) were exactly correct on the identification of the plant (on 5 different plants). Because I already knew what the plants were. And that was just a test on the accuracy of the apps. I took the same exact snapshot for each app.
Maybe this app should be updated in order to work better?

Take a picture of a sunflower leaf, take a picture of a snake plant, take a picture of some morning glories. Does the app know it's that? No. But now you know what other plants look like it. I think that's a struggle in itself. Maybe one day when the software and algorithm gets better this app would be nice to use. But not now.

RE: Every reply from the developer sends the same copy/paste response that it works and that we're not using it properly. I've tried snapping plants in different lighting, different positions and even ways the youtube link they sent to show how it can be done. Sorry, if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Instead of blaming the people using the app, use the critique and find a way to make it hard to mess it up. Saying, "no it works, you're just not doing it right." May be debatable, but ultimately not good.

I thought I’d give this app a try since we’ve been trying to identify a tree in my yard for years with no success. Unfortunately this app didn’t help. It’s a great concept and I’m sure it works well with certain plants but here’s my experience:

I tested it out on the yoshino cherry blossom in my yard, tried three times and the app came somewhat close but no cigar.

Then I tried it out on my gardenia two times and both times it never even gave me an answer. I figured something simple like a gardenia could be identified. Both times it came up as an error, apologized for the inconvenience, but still ate up 2 of the 10 trials I was alotted. Not cool.

Finally I made an attempt with the unidentified tree in my yard and each time was either not even a close result or that error message again until I ran out of trials. Needs some work.

Downloaded this app and paid for premium. Asked it to identify three simple plants on my front porch in northern New England. It identified all three as South American shrubs. NOT EVEN CLOSE. Don’t waste your money.

Update: PlantSnap contacted me tonight to tell me the issue was my fault, and I should contact their customer support to get trained on how to frame the picture. Ironically in the meantime I downloaded Picture This (another plant ID app) and took pictures of the multiple plants in my yard. Picture This got the plants correct 6 for 6 including the three I had previously tried with PlantSnap. Apparently I can frame pictures just fine. Based on the condescending customer service response I’d give this a zero star if I could.

BTW - I asked for a refund of my premium payment but so far they’re ignoring that request.
