Driver of truck 227061
On Monday December 18, 2023, my husband and I were pulling onto the highway right outside Wiggins, MS on Hwy 49 South. The PTL truck was in the far right lane, as we began to pull out the PTL truck swerved into the left lane, that we were pulling out in, forcing us to hit the shoulder/ditch to avoid being hit by him. He never checked up, he never slowed down and was going well over 70 to 75 miles an hr. Had he hit us we would most likely be dead or severely injured. Thank God my husband is an extremely vigilant driver because apparently that PTL driver is not! Truck numbers: back door-227061 drivers side door- USDOT 105234 TENN.HF 7542 KYU-6857

Night Shift , DM "Larry"
MY husband is a driver for PTL, he has submitted numerous messages about the weather and his fear of his and his partners safety. A Larry who was controlling the messages on the quallcomm told him and his partner just deliver the [censor]ing Load, my husband was asking repeatly to be routed into Murray and told No, this is so unprofessional and unessassary . he don't want to continue he has been out on the road for 6 weeks without coming home, he is a hard worker and a very dedicated worker. This is not right or okay. He wanted a drop lot like he was told if the weather was bad they could drop it, him and his partner get the load and then ask okay we cant delivery it on time, now what, an they get told too bad, your DM that answer the phones are very unprofessional and should not have a job if you wan to keep employees, that is the only way they have to communicate out there within the company and it was useless. His safety and safety for his partner was, zero importance to you guys yesterday and last night. He is asking politely to route us in, he's done, his partner wants to now go home, my husband has about 2200 miles left to complete his p2 and that's all he was asking give him a load that he can run without risking his life and his partners, and was told by Larry, too [censor]ing bad, its no wonder both of them drivers want a different job, they deserve respect and for their safety of their lives to be taken seriously.

Maintenance escrow money
I was hired into the lease purchase program of PTL, paschall, , but paschall don't lease trucks, they lead you to believe they do until at the end of orientation, than you find out. It's quality leasing and sales, , false advertising to bring in drivers, the big problem is, , they take out maintenance escrow on your truck, mines is 300.00 dollar es a week, that money is yours to use for repairs on your truck, , but is never use for your truck, paschall takes the money out of your payroll instead, no matter how much you make, that there gives you a small check or no check, , they lower your miles so you have to stay longer on the road, now once your maintenance escrow is 5.000.00 dollars they cut your miles more, making it hard to live off, they try to get you to quite so they take your escrow money, one of the excuses they use is, safety problems, , I ask dozens of times to get my truck fixed they refuse and maintenance lead me to believe there no problems, there is 5.000.00 early termination fee, if you leave the company, , that's why theyes detour you from repairs, , it's a scam! Drivers leave and PTL takes there money and there check, ,
I agree. They did me like that. Some of my statements where in the negative. If you're a hard worker, take your talents elsewhere. That is not a place for you!

Company I hope clyde get what he deserve if he smoke one more cigarette he going to pass out
Worst I ever seen in 20 years driving
Been driving for 20 years and only thought I seen bad. I wish I had the money to leave.
I just hope others will be careful and not believe their lies, so far they lied about everything. Their lease purchase will leave you completely broke and stranded. I'm trying to get out without something bad put on my record but I can't even get them to cooperate on turning the truck in. I am very stuck and broke. Truck breaks often and I can't get home. I didn't even want to be a lease purchase driver but they tricked me into trying it.
It's not that I'm not running hard, it's all the expenses and fees they take off the top.
I never turned down a load and never late except when broke. This is by far the worst company I ever seen. Please don't make the same mistake I did. I can't get any cooperation from them on turning the truck in and I'm going to have to borrow the money to get home. I guess I have to abandon all my stuff and just do my best to get home
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I have had nothing but a positive experience with PTL. My paychecks have averaged $800 per week as a company driver. I never refuse a load, I run hard and so I'm rewarded with great runs and lots of miles. I don't know what all these complaints are about. From my experience the folks that have negative comments about a company are in fact the problems themselves. They demand instead of ask, refuse instead of being agreeable, and generally don't like their job. I love driving. I love working for PTL. IF you don't like your job, quit. Do something you love. Don't just spout your angry opinions as facts for they are not true. I've been with this company for 7 months and have managed to put away $12000. That's including spending money on food and incedentals. I live good on the road and yet I have managed to save as well. Love your job, work hard, BE PATIENT, and make it happen. Stop pissing and moaning about how someone else wronged you and look in the mirror. RIGHT THERE IS YOUR PROBLEM
Yes you are right PTL is not a company. To work for they. Lie lies lies any word come out they mouth are lies work for them for a while can't take it no more return the truck.People at PTL including management and Personal are don't care about no one no Regard respect humility for Driver's who are the backbone of the company.Come on Driver's let put our strategy together to Suit PTL for liars to get us in Debt and behind our responsibility.Let end this PTL abuse us to much let Do this all together we have a case.
PTL HORROR STORIES
I also went to work for PTL and the person that wrote this post is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! I had the EXACT same experience with this company with even more harassment, abuse, neglect, rudeness, etc!
First of all, you have to take a greyhound to get to Paducah, KY. Then after riding on a bus for 2 days you have to stand outside the bus station and wait for the van from PTL to come and get you. They don't get in any hurry. They know exactly how many people to pick up, so it was strange to me that half of the new drivers had to wait for a second van trip. So drivers that have already been riding on a bus for 1-4 days are waiting outside in the hot (or cold as the case may be) are waiting outside for up to 3-4 hours with no food or water or anything else for a ride to the hotel. Note... They have plenty of vans and full time van drivers to keep this from happening. They just don't care! They are rude when they get there and talk to you like you have the plague or something. I mean they don't even say hello. It's something like "hurry up and get your ### in the van". I'm not exaggerating.
Then you get to the hotel and find it really is just as the previous poster stated. A total ### hole! Even the hotel employee's were rude. They get a new group of PTL drivers in twice a week and they really just don't want to deal with the new group. You absolutely have to either pay for your own room or have a room mate. They rate is 99.00. Which is amazing since the hotel is so nasty. I honestly feel that if you walked in off the street it wouldn't be that much. (It costs more for PTL employees?!?)
The next day is spent exactly as the previous poster explained. Drug test first thing. Then waiting for hours and hours to finally get to the terminal. This wait is also unnecessary. Like I said they just don't care. The whole time you are still being talked to very rudely. Even if you try to be nice and start a conversation, they just look at you like your crazy. I simply said good morning as I got on the van, and the driver just huffed and said hurry up and get in! Then the driver got out and smoked a cigarette and left us sitting on the van with no A/C for no good reason at all! I was starting to get sick from the heat and started to get out before I passed out. Then the driver yelled at me again and finally got in and took us to the terminal. I've never been treated so horribly! So far I've only described the GOOD things about PTL!
Orientation was pretty normal although the rude looks and talk continued the whole time. It was paperwork and videos. You did have "homework" every night and they did take it up, but it was no big deal really. Homework took about 15 min to complete. The next day was more of the same rudeness, eye rolling, huffing and puffing, etc..
Now it's time to get a truck... boy oh boy is this a nightmare!
OK, the man over assigning the trucks comes in and says he has trucks all over the country. (I've never seen a company do this before). He tells us what kind of truck it is (Freight liner or international) and how old. The internationals are mostly VERY old. Then he asks for volunteers to go in the van to get their trucks. Some of these trucks were 2 days away! They expected that everyone on the van would help drive and just sleep on the van on the way to get the trucks! INSANITY! Each person was paid a flat rate to go get their truck (it wasn't much) and clean the truck out.
There is NO AMOUNT OF MONEY worth cleaning out some of these trucks. I was lucky. My truck was in the best shape of the ones I saw. It didn't have trash in it! The floor was full of dirt. Not just dirty, I mean about an inch deep caked up nasty funk on the floor. Including in the sleeper on the carpet. This dirt (or dried mud) or whatever it was was caked with animal hair or some sort. This hair was in every nook and cranny (I'm severely allergic to cats so this really concerned me. If it had been cat hair I would have ended up going to the hospital! Apparently it was dog hair.) Every inch of the inside walls of the truck was BLACK. The drivers seat was BLACK. Not just dirty but caked up with funk. My hands were black from just getting inside the truck. Everything I touched was greasy with black gunk. The walls in the sleeper were black as were the curtains. I can't even begin to imagine what it was or how it could have gotten so nasty.
The sleeper... OMG! The mattress was BLACK with holes all in it! Top and bottom bunk! The top bunk was wet with urine! I don't know if it was human or animal but it was definitely soaked wet with urine! I threw it out both mattresses! The smell was indescribable! I cleaned for a whole day to get this truck where I could just stand to be inside of it. Just when I thought it was getting decent enough to actually start the truck and turn on the A/C it got worse! When I turned on the A/C I found out that the previous driver had URINATED in all the vents! Once again, can you even begin to imagine the smell? I sat down at this point and considered a good cry... I ended up walking to a dollar store and getting Febreze and just pouring it into the vents. Now it smelled like I had drank the Febreeze and pee'ed it back into the vents. Well, it was the best I could do.
At this point the truck had been running about 15 minutes total. I got a message over the Qualcomm that I was over idle and to turn the truck off or be terminated! Unbelievable! I ignored that message! I was hot, tired and very P. O.'ed! I dragged the nasty urine soaked mattresses to the shop dumpster and went it to ask if I could get a new one. I was very polite and my exact words were.." I'm cleaning out my truck and the mattress is pretty bad. It's out by the dumpster if you want to see it. I need a new one please." The little jerk at the shop window leaned out and actually POKED me in the chest and said, " LOOK MOTHER-FU*&ER, I have more important S*&T to do than worry about your FU*&^NG mattress!" At this point I was used to rudeness, but this was just INSANITY! He had no right to put his hands on me! Did I mention I'm female? Good thing for him cause If I had been a male I would have beat him to a pulp! I'm just sayin! I should still press harassment charges on this company. But, honestly I'm not a whiner! They never gave me a mattress! I ended up getting on at the other terminal in Memphis. The lady in the office there just ordered it from Freight Liner since I was stuck there all weekend anyway.
Just a side note. After getting the truck where I could stand to even be inside of it, I got my first load. This load was Approx 100miles and I had to sit from Friday till Tuesday morning to get unloaded! While I was sitting there someone knocked on my truck door. It was a lady that had gone thru orientation after my group. She was absolutely in tears and asked me if I would please help her. I was worried about her so I told her I'd try. Come to find out, she had just been taken to her truck by the van and dropped off. Her truck was so bad that you really couldn't stay in it at all! When I walked over and she opened the passenger door Trash fell out in an avalanche. The truck was over a foot deep in trash! Human and animal URINE and FECES! It had been locked up for days baking in the sun! You could actually smell it before the door was opened. It had maggots crawling in it. I told her that I absolutely could NOT help her clean that mess! But I let her use my cell to call PTL. They ended up giving her a comchek for 100.00 and told her to find someone to clean it out for her. They just left her stuck with it! She found some "girls" in the parking lot and they cleaned it for 150.00! So she was out 50.00 from her own pocket! It was still nasty! Nothing could fix that mess! It needed to be burned to the ground! YUCK!
Ok so... I never met my dispatcher face to face (also a good thing I'm female). He cussed and was rude just in general conversation. I quit even trying to talk to him on the phone because of this, I only used the qualcomm. He refused to call me by my name and would only refer to me as SIR! I asked him in writing on the qualcomm repeatedly not to refer to me as SIR but he would just answer with "ok SIR". Sounds like harassment to me, don't you think?
On my second load my truck broke down. It would run for about 20 mins and just die. It took hours to get anyone on the phone. They had me try all kinds of things all night long. Fuses, repriming the fuel, etc... I never signed up to be a mechanic, but I was still doing all this without a word of protest. I just wanted to get going again. I was running out of money! PTL won't give you an advance until you have a paycheck coming. They said paperwork hadn't been processed yet (despite the fact that I transflo'ed it all in) so they wouldn't let me draw any money. At this point... I'm broke down, I'm tired, and I'm really hungry, and I don't have anymore money! I'm starting to get scared cause I'm 1000 miles from home, without a dime to my name, broke down, and I need to eat something. A driver gave me a package of ramen noodles and that was all I had until the next afternoon! This was a total nightmare!
At this point, I'm starting to itch really bad. Come to find out, the truck was infested with bed bugs! When I finally got some cash I had to wash my clothes 5 times to get rid of them. Not to mention all the bugspray and crap that I breathed in the cab of that truck!
Took several days to get truck fixed... It was just more and more ###!
I put in for hometime. I had been out for 21 days total! Notice that I only pulled 2 loads
It took me another week to get home. I asked for 3 days off. I was not happy to go back out with PTL, but I was really in a financial bind from the past month and thought surely it would get better. The truck was now clean and not infested with bed bugs, and it had been fixed and was running OK.
As I was getting out of the truck a messaged beeped and told me that I had a load that I needed to leave out with in 2 days. I sent a message back that I had requested and EARNED 4 days, but only requested 3. I would be ready in 3 days! The next message I got simply said "CLEAN OUT YOUR TRUCK". I called and asked why and they said that if you parked the truck for more than 2 days that they would put another driver in it, and then send me to get the next truck that came available. I wasn't about to go through that again! So I did exactly that, I cleaned out my truck and haven't looked back!
I'm sure as soon as I send this I will think of even more horror stories about my short time with PTL. Honestly, I am tired of even thinking about all this again. It was one of the worst experiences of my life, and believe me, I've had some doozies! The previous poster wasn't lieing! If anything he was being pretty generous about PTL. It wouldn't even surprise me if the other 2 people who posted on here weren't some of the recruiters or higher ups with PTL. I didn't meet a single driver that was happy with them. I did meet a few that had been with them for awhile and they said that PTL used to be a decent company but had gone down hill. I also want to add that as of right I don't know of anybody that went through orientation with me that is still employed with PTL. It's just that bad, an I'm gonna scream it on every forum I can find :).

It is June 27, 2015 and PTL is still up to its games. I'm still here as a lease operator. What a scam! They take 250 dollars per week for maintaining your vehicle. I tried to use it last weekend for an oil change and was denied. They took it out of my check as an advance. If you are having trouble with PTL call atty. Paul Taylor of truckers justice. Nice guy and he's familiar with PTL and their games.

What is that song? "The Wind Beneath My Wings"?
At PTL most drivers are "The Dirt Beneath Their Feet".
Of course there are the few "best-boys" who get treated OK,
My speculation is, based on talking to two of them,
they are willing to work like dogs for less than they'd make
flipping burgers, and all the while smile, smile, smile.
These weren't refugees from Bangladesh either.
I guess some people were born bent over.
i am a lease o/o through quality.when i went up to indianapolis, indiana toget my truck my recuiter at the timesaid u can pickany truck from thelotintheprogram.well i roade the greyhound up to indy.i waited bout an hour to be picked up.we was dumpedoffat a hotel for bout 4 days with.no real meals.thank god the hotel had a small cafe we could get 1 meal.i waited for bout 4 days to get a truck i didn't exactly want.but had no choice in taking.it was an old crete truck...it hasn't given me any problems really so far.other then a tire and airleak.but the payments are 635.a week.and i'm running bout 2000 miles if i'm lucky.i've asked for more miles.i told my dispatcher brian i need least 3200 milesto make a living he said u be lucky to see 2800.the bus ticket was 176.00 up to indy.so far they have taken 82.00 a week out of my check towards this bus ticket.mind u i'v been there since end of october.then u got pay for ur fuel.this truck i got gets 4.72 mpg.which sucks.so i'm eating all kinds of fuel.and igo home after 3 weeks and take3sometimes 4 days offandstill that witch in financing takes my full truck payment knowing i been home all this time.i've learned 1 thing leaseperchase is ok but not for ptl.u get no paychecks.i've madewhole475.00 whole month of november.and probally be less for dec.but they made sure theirpockets were filled with my time and truck.this is my story.i've been an o/o b4 and this is ludercrist if u think u going to make a living working for PTL.INC.cause it will never happen.sorry wish u all the best but me and old red is going on and counting this as a lost.if u wanna work for free as an o'o this the place to be.p.s. running light loads on windy or snow roads ain't my cup oif tea.
At ptl orientation now. Haven't had any problems with these people. As soon as we arrived for orientation, the shuttle van showed up within minutes and the driver was really polite. One thing i've learned when alot of new drivers get together in orientation is that someone is going to start a negative comment and it grows like wildfire. I think people stretch a lie a mile long. I can not imagine any male poking a female in the chest, not if he loved his job. People, don't believe everything people say about this trucking company. As with any trucking company, it is what it is.
My husband has been with PTL for going on 2 years! Not once have we had a problem. Any time he calls he is called by first name. Any time the truck has a problem it is dealt with in a timely manner as is anything else. Very rarely do we wait for a load. If you had to recover a truck it is not ptl's fault for a drivers living habbits. If you aren't a winer then why are you? The people inside the shop behind the desk can't reach you and if anybody in this company curses it is with you. These are human beings too and their job is. Sometimes as stressful as yours. And everyone is intiled to a bad day. Anytime we called dispatch with a problem it got resolved and most times ed is humorous about it. Nobody said it was a glamorous life and things go wrong if that is too much to handle your in the wrong profession. We get great miles. Needless to say we also stay out 4-6 months at a time. We get hometime when we request it and we live where they don't hire. Everybody in murray and west memphis or any other terminal are polite. Understand they have a stressful job too. If I had 150 people on my ### in one day. I would be on edge too. Like I said, never had any major problems. And they was taken care of so when anybody finds a perfect company it would be nice to know. Until then if you expect diamonds and gold get another profession...
PTL has a revolving door policy.
I was told it was once a good company, but now it absolutely
one of the worst. The drivers are the dirt beneath their feet.
They lie through their teeth (2 weeks out, 2 days off? HA!)
They will keep you out eternally. You have to beg to get home,
and then they treat you like crap when you do.
Also LOGBOOKS. The dispatchers want to run you illegal,
but the safety bimbo (Adolph Hitler in drag) will make your
life miserable if you run hard.
She took me off the road for being over, thanks to dispatch,
in 100+ degree heat in New Orleans, for 10 hours.
Then they threatened to fire me for running the A/C.
YOUR IDLE TIME IS TOO HIGH!
I shot back at them that THEY were making me idle. Catch-22.
PTL was the most miserable experience of my life, bar none.
If you are a masochist PTL is the place to go.
If you are a semi-normal human being, you will think you
died and went to hell on earth.
BTW I could go on and on with horror stories, but just
read amethyst777's post
When I went out on my first hunting expedition,
(PTL trucks are abandoned continually all over the country
because of how ### they treat people), we dumped off a girl
in Ohio who was almost in tears because her truck had no mattress,
none, and they couldn't get anyone to approve the purchase of
one. I met her 2 weeks later in Murray, and she said, Go
look in the bunk. I did. Still no mattress. She was sleeping on the
backboard and had been for 2 weeks.
The people that run that company are snakes in the grass.
When karma hits them you don't want to be in the same state.
i guess that i am blessed cause i need to get home for thanksgiving and they giving a bus ticket to get home, other comp. i worked for didn't care if you got home at all. when i started i went home every 2 &1/2 weeks with no problems, and my truck was pretty clean as far as it goes for a truck 436000 miles on it. All I can say God has been and always will be with me. No one has been rude to me at all, as a matter of fact when I was in oreintaion they made sure I got the food that I can eat because I don't eat pork or beef and I told someone and the whole time I was there I had a lunch that I could eat. Sara so far been a pretty good fleetmanager.
Well I am a company driver, sorry you not getting what you want. But I met few other O/O and they not having any problems.
Well I have been with PTL for 4months and I they have did everything pretty much that I needed done. So I run really good with them after i told my fleet manager that I needed to run hard and i have been doing that.

Bad place to work
this is the by far worst place anyone could ever work. this place has no communication skills at all and god forbid you get the director Larry. This guy is a total jack ###. He thinks he is God and what he says goes. He will try to make you run illegal just to get a load somewhere that cant be delivered anyway. He will even threaten your job, over the phone of course, if your dont play by his rules. He seems to forget that the drivers arent regulated by him. They are regulated by the Federal Government. I hope anyone even thinking about going to work for this two but, redneck, inbred company that they PLEASE RECONSIDER YOUR DECISION. I promise you will regret it if you dont. also dont forget about the mounds of paperwork that you will have to sign during orientation, all of which is nothing but bull. For example, you will sign a paper that will allow them to garnish your pay for 1500 if you abandoned their equipement. I have never seen anything that low. Oh yeah heres a major one for you. Most companies will pay you to go home for your hometime and then pay you any miles to go pick up a load or find a trailer. This company will not start paying you until AFTER YOU PICK UP THE LOAD. So that means if you have to drive 100 miles to go pick up a load, you wont see a cent for it. ALso, they will try to make you fudge your log book and if you dont then they threaten your job. You can do so much better. Dont make the same mistake I did. As for you Larry, I hope you get what you diserve and brought back down to size. When you see this company coming you better turn and run away very fast. Trouble is coming.

I worked for PTL and I am a Veteran, but not just any kind of vet. Anyway, PTL is a Poor company, my advise is photo copy EVERYTHING ! As far as the ones on here saying they work for PTL and it is a good company, THEY ARE WORKING FOR THE COMPANY>> BY GETTING ON HERE AND SAYING OVER 2000 PEOPLE ARE WRONG. just add up the numbers on all The PTL negative reviews, and look up PTL Class action law suit . Let that be your answer.
PTL is Paschall Truck Lines, Inc...the same company that is in El Paso, TX :)
They are a rip-off artists. We've been both company & O/O for them. They have more ways to steal your money than I ever thought possible.
Stay far, far away.
YOU MUST UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT COMPANIES THATARE CALLED PTL. ONE IS OUT OF MURRAY, KY WITCH BY THE WAY IS A AWESOME COMPAY TO DRIVE FOR. IF YOU NEED A RECRUITER I WOULD SUGGEST JAMES FREEMAN, VERRY HONEST GUY GUY. THE OTHER COMPANY OF PTL IS OUT WEST IN EL PASO, TX.
His dispatcher, Oscar, from El Paso promised him he was really getting to come home this time but nope they just running him back and forth pass the house.
My husband drives for PTL. He's been asking to come home for 3 weeks. Still has not made it here. I haven't seen him in 6 weeks.
What is orientation like for PTL?
I am working for PTL at the present time and I can tell you that everything on this post is 100 percent true. The only reason i'm still here is to get enough money to get down the road.
Go to work for PTL you will be happy you did. There a good company with plenty of freight and good running lanes. I been working fir them a while now and i'm happy I did.
If your looking for a good company come to PTL I did and I love it. I get the miles and they get me home when I ask. I like there running lanes and they always got freight. I been working here a while now and there good to me and I make sure I do my job. Come and join our team you will be happy you did.
I am thinking of going to work for PTL, and seeing all these complaints is pretty discouraging. I wonder if it is PTL or the drivers. I know truck drivers working for Melton, JB Hunt, Western Express, Werner, and they all have similar problems, getting home, not getting paid for this or that, having to sign papers that put all the responsibility on the driver, trying to get drivers to go back to work before their home time is over, dispatchers lying to you, putting bad stuff on your DAC, and so on and so forth. Unfortunately, that is just the nature of truck driving, you are going to have that to deal with to some degree with any trucking company, if you are unable to deal with it, it may be better to find some other type of employment. Office workers, dispatchers, company mechanics generally have a low opinion of truck drivers in general. The driver is at the bottom of the barrel, even though the driver does most of the work. When actually we could survive without them better than they can survive without us. What I am saying is most of the problems I am hearing are things I have had to deal with for to some degree with everyone I worked with. That is just the way it is and just make the best out of it or maybe try something else.
Driver Safety
PTL is another trucking company that does not care about the health, welfare or whether their company drivers make money.
PTL must have a problem with DOT, stopped twice in one week.
PTL is ‘Forced’ dispatched, per dispatcher Paula and her boss Greg, who both want to yell at their drivers, and claim that they cannot hear well as to why they are yelling at the driver.
ALL PTL trailers are a danger to the motoring public.
PTL will dispatch a driver on loads that they cannot deliver legally because their trucks only run 62mph.
PTL also make their company drivers follow there routing directions that are missing connecting roads information, and will counsel you on out on route mileage.
PTL idle time equals your mileage and you cannot go over 41per cent, so there will be a lot of ‘COLD’ PTL drivers, just like there has been a lot of ‘HOT’ ones.
Truck Recovery = Truck without air-condition in LA, with average temp of 100 degrees for four days because they would not deadhead a solo female driver 75miles, nor would they put the driver in a hotel, but had driver driving 200 plus miles a day searching for empty trailers that they really did not know where they were, in the HOT truck.
Night Dispatcher = Hang up without talking to driver after seeing who was calling on the caller ID, because they thought the driver was angry after they(dispatcher) had sent nasty messages.
Computer System down = Every other day per dispatcher.
DOT Inspection problem repair = One week later, put driver out of service(1 ½ days) on the other side of the country from the DOT inspection site while still loaded, for a bad brake adjustment problem on the trailer, that they had the driver take across the street from their yard to get fixed.
* Please note it took so long to get the trailer repaired because PTL’S road maintenance department will not contact the company that they send you to for repairs nor will the response to the company that doing the repairs e-shop messages until the driver call them several times to keep the process going, even though PTL told you to go that company for repair.
* Please also note that PTL road maintenance department does not know from shift to shift who works for them on their yards, nor can they get people on their yards to fix anything, because again they do not know who works there from shift to shift.

I agree with all the above, because ptl don't gave a damn about there drivers. they will put you out of service, tell they see your truck needs to move, for there benifet.then they will put you back on duty,
Dispatchers and Saftey/VP of Saftey Lee
I was hired on with PTL on July 28th, 2009. Nancy Boggard was my recuriter. She said everything was fine and ok to go. Well here they get me out in Murray, Ky. They have you ride on a Grey Hound Bus for 24 hours and you have to wait for about 2 hours for the little van to pick you up. I was out in the 95 degree heat and had nothing to dring. When I called PTL they were very rude from that point, I should have know something was up. So here they take you on an hour ride to Murray, Ky to some hole in the ground hotel. The pool has not been used for a long time or has not been maintained at all. They make you either share a room or pay for a room, $99.00 also it is taken out of you pay, with no choice in that. The first day they take you next door to the health clinic, to take drug test. Then they take you to the north lot and lock you in a room and they have the a/c set on 55 degrees. Then if you complain about the a/c being too cold they will turn it off and the room will get to 90 degrees. They will feed you, and the food is prison issued food. Then they will do paper work. The trucks go 62mph only. If you complain about the speed they will fire you. The trucks that don't have APU's, if you run your truck more than 40% they will bring you in to have a talk with you. If you do it again they will have a final word. Then the last time they will fire you. But don't feel bad if they keep you there for less than a month. PTL says they have a right to use their drivers up to a month to 3 months and then get rid of you. Louis is the company gofer and he jumps when they say jump. He is the one that is in safety and will tell you to clear out your truck and he will have you taken to the local hotel and have you sit there until 1900hrs and then take you to the bus station or airport. Day 2 more paper work and test drive trucks. Day 3 you will finish up the paper work. All 3 nights you do have home work to do and they will collect it. There is a company person that comes in and tells you their turn over rate is at 186%. My best advise to any driver out there do not go with this fly by night company at all. If you want head aches then go with them. If you want a real good job and be treated like a human being instead of like some animal then consider some other place. They treated me like an animal because they wanted me to drive from Mass to Knoxville with an oil leak and there was oil all over my engine and hood of truck. They supervisor said to me that he was not going to take any chances of loosing a HOT load just because I wanted to get the oil leak fixed. Well they finally allowed me to stop and get the oil fixed. Also they will have you run illegal log books. They do advise to run 2 log books if possiable. I ran about 3300 miles a week for the first couple of weeks. Then they have you pick up a truck which was trashed out by another driver. So here I had to baby sit the truck for 5 days. They don't pay any lay over or break down pay until after 48 hours. So I got paid $70.00 for sitting for 5 days. Its $35.00 per day. Then they had me take truck up to their Murray, Ky location and then tell me that they no longer needed my services and I can clear out my truck, short 2 days being there 30 days. PTL brings in about 100 to 150 drivers a week and let go between 150 to 200 drivers a week, this also includes drivers who either dumps their trucks or they don't com back to work. Also PTL does not have enough of trucks to give out so they have no choice to fire their drivers. My best advise again is not to wast your time or effort to work at PTL. This so called company needs to be put out of business period. There is actually more but there isn't enough time or space to tell it all. Driver BEWARE! Also if you don't comply about quitting they will call the police on you. Apparently they must pay the cops something extra to do extra patrolling. When I was there on July 29th and anoth driver told me to get the hell out of here, I should have listened. PTL is for WHITE TRAILOR TRASH HILL BILLYS! Look at where their so called corporate offices are out of.TRAILORS. No real buildings at all. They are all WHITE TRASH including the people they have in West Memphis, AR..

Do PTL have onboard log books?
do ptl have onboard log books?
If your company to work PTL a good company with good freight and running lanes. You can make a good living and have a good career with PTL. I work for them and I don't plan on going anywhere else.
I work for PTL and have been for a year now. I cannot any of the things that I'm hearing. I haven't had a problem with them at all. There a good company to work for they got some bad but they all do and I worked for much worse than them in my 11 years. I don't know if y'all are just lazy or just like to complain about everything but I know your wrong about them.
FROM WILLIAM R. CHILDSW OF BG, KY THIS MESSAGE WILL SELF DESTRUCT AS OF MAY 25 2011. DO NOT WORK FOR P.T.L. OF MURRAY, KY THEY OBVIOUSLY HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE.
I, LIKE THE REST OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT PTL, HAVE TO AGREE WITH EVERYTHING POSTED- FROM THE BEGINING OF ORIENTATION TO THE TIME YOU ARE ISSUED YOUR TRUCK. BUT I MADE IT JUST TO THE END OF ORIENTATION, GOT MY TRUCK NUMBER AND WAS CALLED TO THE OFFICE, (OOH IM IN SCHOOL AGAIN)- WHAT THE HELL-, ANYHOW I WENT TO THE OFFICE AND THEY ASKED ME WHY I WAS SHOWING OTHERS THIS SITE, I TOLD THEM IT WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND WE ALL HAD THE RIGHT TO SEE AND UNDERSTAND WHAT WE WERE GETTING INTO. GUESS THEY DIDNT AGREE, CAUSE THEY FIRED ME ON THE SPOT FOR PULLING UP THIS WEBSITE. I THINK I HAVE A LAWSUIT, BUT NOT TO SURE, I AM GOING TO CONSULT LEGAL COUNSEL ON THIS MATTER. I DO BELIEVE WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO PUBLIC INFO ON THE INTERNET, THEY SHOULDNT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIRE ME FOR THAT, THANK YOU WILLIAM R. CHILDS OF BOWLING GREEN KENTUCKY
I use to drive .. for other companies of course, my first experiance with PTL has been with one of the drivers broad siding me in my private vehicle in broad daylight, dry pavement, and he had the stop sign. Their insurance carrier was nasty and hateful, when I called the company they gave me the run around. My vehicle is still not repaired I'm afoot, and apparently they could care less if they are sued.
It's something like "hurry up and get your [censor] in the van". I'm not exaggerating.
Then you get to the hotel and find it really is just as the previous poster stated. A total [censor] hole!
It was just more and more [censor]!
I have been at PTL for a few years now, and all I can say is, they have been very good to me! I have learned if you are willing to work with them, they will work with you, on anything! My fleet manager doesn't have a problem talking to me on the phone, because he know I only call when I have a problem...I f you can keep the left door closed, and crying to a minimum, you will do GREAT AT PTL!
you must not be a driver then that makes you part of the problem
Poor Treatment & Disfunction
My husband was hired and sent to Murray KY for orientation. When orientation ended, they did not have any trucks available to put him or numerous other drivers in. They put them up in hotel rooms, then have them check out half a dozen times. Leave them sitting, without work they can't make money to eat and live off of while waiting for them to get it...

Let me start by saying that promises made aren't always what you get. When I went through orientation with PTL they promised alot of things.First and foremost that we as drivers were first priority. When you hit the road for them, suddenly you become a kicking post for them. I worked for PTL for about seven months. In that time, I was denied numerous funds and payment, that I had coming to me. From my first paycheck, to my last paycheck something was missing on virtually every single one. Short hauls that came across the qual com. I never got them. Miles that I drove, I never got them. When I would contact finance, or driver services, or whatever department they shuffled me off to, noone had any explination. The only thing someone would finally say was we'll check it out. Then you don't hear anymore from them. Then when you finally get mad enough to really ### they find a way to shut you down for an undetermined period of time so you dont get the runs. I kept every Log book page, every reciept, and every quall com. message they ever sent me. That's right I took pictures of all my qual com. messages. One things for sure when this all comes to a head, I have undeniable proof of all my losses. I feel that every driver should do the same thing. That way they cant get out of there obligations to us, [THE DRIVERS] After all were the ones out there driving the miles, staying away from home for months at a time. We deserve our monies coming to us. Why shouldn't we hold the people responsible that are supposed to get it to us? I fully intend too. During my employment at PTL . I never had any moving violations, or accidents. I never damaged any vehicle or anything. As a matter of fact I started to quit once about a month before I finally did. I was informed by someone in the offices that they needed drivers like me, that I was 98% affective. They were right about one thing. They needed suckers like me who actually gave a damn, about their precious freight. While they kept my money and got my wife and myself evicted from our home .Well we are still living in our car, but it's better than a PTL sleeper.

I have been leasing for about a month now. I have never refused a load. I grossed about 9000 in my first month. Sounds like a lot right. What I seen out of that 9000 is whopping 104.00. And that was 3 was ago. Do not go here they find any reason to not pay or deduct money from your check.
I Would like someone to contact me about PTL complaints at taynadiaz@yahoo.com. Thanks
im also gonna add to you aint afraid to work my dad has been driving for 42 yrs and he would tell you something different [censor] he drove a b modle mack they did have a/c back then they were a box mounted on the roof and if youve been driving for 38 yrs you started in 1972 they did have a/c in those trucks so you havent been driving as long as you say you did your probally some dispatcher for ptl you know the ones whom say they drove a truck and never had i know your one of them because they did have trucks with a/c in them and they werent also as regulated as they are now and you could run and idel as long as you wanted so jack [censor] wannabe tell me another lie
this is aint afraid to work your stupid dude because they did have a/c in trucks back then i bet you havent drove that long and you must be a black guy because i drove for ptl and their olny nice to black guys you love driving for them and their horriable trucks well good for you jack [censor] when you loose your cdl because of that company then i bet youll have a better out look ive drove for other companies you know the ones whome dont run broker loads and ill tell you ptl is the worst company ive ever drove for see i drive for a company a real one that takes care of their equepment not a one that puts a duck tape on it like ptl and its not just the new breed that quits them ive seen drivers that have driven for 42 yrs quit them ive also noticed all the white guys drive all their junk trucks and all the black guys drive all the new ones so you must be black
I have been with ptl almost 4 years and i can honestly say that in the 38 years i have been in the trucking business that ptl is the most driver friendly truck line that i have worked for. I would say that most of the drivers i have met since being at ptl who are unhappy about the company bring it upon themselves. These whinners and complainers are recent school graduates who think this is a sightseeing adventure instead of a job. If they trucked half as much as they sit around truck stops talking about trucking they would be fine. Calling this new breed of driver a steering wheel holder is giving them a compliment. They should have been around when I started and all we had was cabovers, no air conditioning, no power steering, no air-ride equipment, etc.. These cry-babies dont know what it means to work, they need to just shut-up and go back home to mommy.
Wow sounds like you guys had some ### luck with PTL. I guess I been pretty lucky they always pay me on time and correctly. Yeah I guess sometimes my dispatcher can be an ### and I honestly wonder if he's ever been OTR a day in his life but you take what you get and for the most part they do what they say. Guess it's all in the way you treat people. I've been here 18months and so far so good.
You speak the truth!
I lasted only 3 months. I just cut my losses and ran. That company can be drilled into the ground...and not soon enough! Go get em!
i am sorry this happened to you but rest assured you are not the only one that continues to be dumped on. I am by far surprised they are still in business because they screw something up everyday. I dont know how many times i told them i could pick up or deliver early and the most i got was i could try. Well no ###, I am not new at this you ###. I am sure your dispatchers and even your director were just as clueless as mine. Mine was Larry. was a dick.
Poor treament
At PTL the drivers are treated like they are a bother or an enemy. Their staff is rude and disrespectful. They don´t want to hear anything from the drivers. They will assign you to one short crappy load after another. And the expect the drivers to just EAT IT!
Until very recently, PTL failed to invest in APUs even though most of us knew that fuel was going to be a problem. They expect drivers tp freeze in the winter and bake in the summer. Not caring about how this will affect the drivers health or his ability to drive safely.
If a driver idles the truck to stay warm or cool they will harrass the driver. Then if he still idles the truck, fire him. It dose not matter that you may be sitting in South Florida in August or Green Bay for 34 hours in Decembr for 2 to 3 days waiting on a load. You could die in the truck they would not care.
Road maint is a joke. Everything is a major hassle to get fixed. Even though they have e-shop it will still take forever to get something fixed. The road maint staff are also rude and don´t give a damm.
The management style of PTL is one of conflict or better pass the buck. Because it is privately owned Randall Waller can make all the stupid decisions he wants and he dose not have a board of directors to veto his stupid ideas.
Nobody can speak up and explain that maybe this is a bad idea. Management dosen´t want suggestions. If there is a problem they will kill the messenger. And money is the bottom line.
For instance, maintenance´s job is to cost effectively fix trucks and trailers. The trailer fleet is very old. They require a lot of repairs. At PTL it is better not to fix the trl and make it look like your department is within budget that to explain to the owner that his trailer fleet is old and that you dept needs more money to maintain them.
In operations the staff dose what´s easy and expidisous for them. At the cost of the driver and sometimes the company. They don´t care if they get you home for your kids birthday or holy communion. They don´t care if you miss appts. They could not care less if you are going broke and can´t suppoet your family. They will do what´s easiest for them. And if a driver speaks up, stands up forhimself, his miles will drop to nothing and will be fired. PTL wants mindless robots or slaves.

I currently work for ptl and i have to say that this company without a doubt is the worst, most dysfunctional company that i have ever seen, i get about [protected] miles per week and when i talk to drivers services they point the finger at me as to why Im not getting any miles, saying that its my fault and giving me oname excuse after another, i requested a new fm 2 weeks ago and they still refuse to give me one, there are times when i have sat for 5 days with no pay bc they don't have any loads at the time. Please heed my warning, stay away from ptl or you will most certainly regret it.
I did everything ptl ask me to do after driver totaled my truck and they still beat me out of 2k what I also found out was when I leased on they faxed me 15 pages to sign funny thing was they left a few pages of the actual lease agreement out I had no idea until later but the fax shows how many pages was sent and received so I have proof the pages was never sent so we will see what the court says.
I Read the information and its great!

I really don't understand all the crazy people on here, I have been driving for PTL for years now, and I have to say overall...I am very happy here. Do I have bad days..yes, do I have great days...yes. When I first started at PTL, I had a dispatcher I couldn't get along with at all, I asked to be put with another dispatcher and we get along great. There are ups and downs in the trucking industry, freight out the ###, then freight slowed. If you any knid of a truck driver you would know this...guess your not! I had a death in the family..not only did PTL get me home asap! But they also sent flowers on their behalf. How many companies have you worked for that cared that much! Especially one of that size. Is PTL the company for everyone NO, I ran into a driver at the home office lot, he was acting like a crazy person! Saying he wasn't getting but around 1500 mile per week, I found that strange since I had been getting around 3000 miles per week. So as I listened further I realized what was going on...you see this driver said he had to be home every weekend home on fri. and out on mon. and PTL did that for him...do u think he was satisfied...OH NO! He then wanted to blame PTL for his miles...see where I'm going with this guys? If your like that driver...then NO, don't waste anybody time or money! If your willing to work and make a good living for you and your family then YES, call PTL...I DID and I LOVE IT HERE!
I just came back from Murray, Ky. PTL Recruiter told me they were going to find me an empty trailer
to take to Murray from home. I am an owner operator, In the class there was 4 owner operators all from different places and no one came with an empty trailer to orientation. So the empty trailer to arientation to pay You to get there is BS. When You get there they treat You like crap, like You owe them something. They are mean and seem not to care about any one. I was there for one and a half Days and witness about 3 owner operators who quit. I spoke with them and they all told me the same about the company. They all said the Company do not care about Drivers, they just care about making money and that is it. They told me about the empty and loaded miles pay is all BS because they do not want to run You empty. If they do not have a load available near after You Drop, You will sit and wait for as long they want You to wait. They told me they can not run more than 1800 miles in 7 Days, so You do the math. I also spoke with a few company drivers and non of them seem happy. PTL hires about 40 to 50 student driver per week Year round, this is probably double the trucks they own. So this means they can not keep anyone working for them. I spent $700.00 in fuel going to and coming back from Murray but I am glad I did not sing on with them. Everything they tell You over the phone is a lie. Even if this was the last trucking company standing alive. I have never seen a Company that lies to You as such large scale. I will never work for them, I will rather quit trucking at all. Even if this is Your
last choice for a Company to work for, DO NOT DO IT! Change career.
yep, , same ole PTL, , came through there in oct last year, went through orientation which i didnt think was too bad, just happy i got a job, hired on the 17th, sat 3 days after orientation waiting on truck, still not too bad considering, it started the first day i sat in the truck, got dropped in chattanooga to pick up truck, sat 4 days there in the truck waiting on load, keep in mind you dont get your orientation money until you actually accept your first load, so four days, on my dime which ticked me off but i let it go, afterall i needed to work, 4 weeks later i got home, after begging for 8 days, , left with nothing, they said we would be routed by the house to pick up our stuff, , didnt happen, i bounced in january, , the miles had fell so much that it was costing me money to work for them, so i had to do what i had to do, they are extremely disrespectful, the office ppl fail to recognize who pays the bills, , i argued daily with these ppl, finally had enough, i was down to -800 miles a week, just basically living in the truck, sure im not welcome back, when i quit, i deadheaded from Harrisburg PA to the house, waited 2 days and went to confront them, i went to the front desk at the north lot asked for larry, , mind u, me and this guy had it out on phone day earlier, he said i could go to hell and i was a piece of sh** and other comments, so i decided to go see him, as soon as i told him who i was he proceeded to call murrays finest, keep in mind im 6'5 250 pounds, , dont think he knew who he was talking to, needless to say i didnt get the last 700 miles or so outta them and am still looking for work but anything is better than PTL
I agree 100%. I got blackmailed to quit just right after Christmas. I got back to Murray after waiting 3 days for a load in bum f*ck Louisiana. And after I got home I came back and was promply let go. Cud they have done this before christmas and saved me the roundtrip crappy Greyhound bus trip. Well maybe not, cuz that wudda dampened Christmas. But the writting was on the wall. As back history, I overheard while waiting at the Training Dept desk back not too long after they cancelled the idiotic Students training students recruiting program, that they were looking to layoff as many students that they could. Well I tried to keep my nose clean. But I had an incident in Illinois at a Fedex/Watkins site where I scrapped a ballast with the driver side trailer tandems and bent the tires and the front of the tandem was off tracked. That was in Late Oct/early Nov 2008. Well, I had already went to Safety in Nov. and signed a probation letter that stated I could be let go for future occurances. Well After Xmas I was brought back in and told that the trailer substained $1500.00 damage and that the owner frowned on anything over $15.00! $15.00...I guess you could cause alot on $15.00.
Well I was told I could leave it up to the owner to decide my fate and possibly be terminated and all the info put on my DAC report or I could resign and be scott free, nothing reported. This I considered Blackmail. But what could I do? So I decided to resign. But later finding out most companies would let no more than two on your record like this and still hire you. PTL management is nothing but a bunch of arrogant SOB's whom I tried to be nice to, but they treat you like kids or slaves. There has been many times where I could tell they never listen to what you say even when you where in their face and would respond totally off topic from what you told them.
I am glad I will never be considered back for employment becuase I shouldnt have worked for them in the first place.
The miles were good at first, but tailed off considerably. Could care less you get home. Had hometime put in the Qualcomm at least 7 days in advance and was always sent to Florida! Florida is a hell hole for backhauls!
And then after getting a load to Georgia while near columbus, Oh to stay there and wait for swap and sat two days in the cold and then they [censor]ed at us for waiting and tried to blame us for holding up the load.
Again! They could care less about the driver or his pay.
Their great pay package is training at $0.18/mi for 30, 000 mi (I worked Sept 29-Dec 31, 2008 and had only 21, 000 mi and I worked as a team driver and didnt clear the training period.)
They paid $0.31/mi after training. And dont get me started about orientation. It sucked.
They expected an semi trained driver to know in a few mins how to adjust the slack adjusters and then move on! Come on! Also everyone lies. Said the orientation was 3 days, everyone in the class heard it and yet it was five days and they wouldnt pay us more and said noone told us that and passed the buck.
This company is not one you want to work for, take it from me, not PTL, they will be biased. I had first hand working experience on their tactics.
crap ### company
i worked for PTL from 6/1/07 to 9/30/07 and the people who dont have a complaint about this company are very lucky in my book. the people that run PTL are the rudest non caring people you will ever meet at a trucking company, exspecially the dispatchers! my dispatcher's name was jessica i believe. she was absolutley out of line how she would talk to the drivers. she didnt just talk to me like this but other drivers as well that i came across said the same thing about her. when i finally had enough of her mouth and decided to stand up for myself i get sent to see one of the head honchos where i get cussed at...thats right i said cussed at! the drivers here are just a money making machine for them and they do not care wether u like it or not. thank God i never had a serious breakdown with this company like some others are talking about. i had a flat and got it fixed pretty quick, that was the extent of that though. all in all i got great miles and made around a thousand a week. As far as i can remember i never sat still unless it was my ten hours off. also i did always have a problem with the home time, i would put my hometime call in after being on the road for a month and a half which equiled a week off as we all know and they would always wait til the last minute to get me home, and on top of this they would call me a couple days later and ask when im coming back to work. i finally had to tell them to never call my house again during my time off. in my personal opion PTL has the (potential) to be a great trucking company if the owner would just step up and stop allowing his drivers to be disrespected and get rid of anyone regardless of thier postion who does this.
got a bus ticket to go orientation next monday i wouldlike its this company is worth for
Stay away!
It's 11-29-2013
Can someone tell me the truth about PTL?
I've been reading a lot of negative things about them but it has mostly been from 2009 to 2010. what is going on with them now.
Have they improved or not. I'm getting ready to drive for them and would like to know.
Some of the women there are out of control and are ###=can't understand normal thinking.
I'mvery curious to see just how this company works. just got hired. have orentation already scheduled. have plenty of experience to work for others just wanting to try something new. theres alot that you have to be ready for. alot that you have to expect being you have experience. think as long as you treat companies fairly they treat you fairly. would like some new responses to this company just to see what is ahead.
To the guy that spent 9 1/2 hours to get a motel, why the heck didn't you just just get it and get reimbursed the next day? I mean, c'mon man, get it together. It's as if you're still needing total care from a company like a damn infant. This is the reason I had my own authority but never hired.
wELL THESE GUYS MUST HAVE GOT OUT JUST IN TIME
PTL IS A SAD COMPANY AND THOSE WHO GO THERE WILL FALL FUTHER IN THE HOLE
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME ABOUT PTL AS OF RT NOW IS THIS A GOOD CO. TO WORK FOR.
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME ABOUT PTL NOW I AM ONLY HEIRING BAD THING ABOUT THEM IN THE PASSED NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THEM AS OF RT. NOW.
