Whhaat a SPAM!

HeY EVERYone I also RECEIVED THE same msg with a different amount of money saying I won 395, 000GBP through the Nokia Promotion sO I CALLED the number which came with the text and said I had to email my name, address, and number!, , ..I was like, why don't I just tell him without emailing? And my family was so happy to hear such a prize..I mean REALLY? I was going to transfer my money to get my chq. Before I did that, I wanted to make sure, so I went through the web site when suddenly I came through all these complaints...NO WAY!... iT IS A SPAM!... I was lucky though..not being fooled by some ###s!.

But hey fanx for all the warnings I read, it really knocked me off this foolish trick.

Anyways to end my comments, I want to give an advice to all those receivers of Nokia Promotion not to get FOOLED easily... Further notice I want to know more about these, whether its TRUE or FALSE!

thank you,
DA Not EASILY beING foolED!

I have once more recieved a text message from NOKIA saying that i had won 250, 000 GBP...i called them and a Nigerian sounding brother answered and asked me to email them my address and stuff..i mailes in fact i even called twice and asked whether i was being conned.I think Nokia has the responsibility to warn all persons of such acts as well as find and sew all those involved in this shaddy act.

Nokia should know that this is a stain to its corporate image and they should put an end to it once and for all...besides the text is written Nokia and therefore we should believe it and unknowingly call the UK from abroad!

I too got an SMS claiming I had won. I phoned the bloke who said I'd won and went round to his house later to claim my cash. He wasn't in. I broke into his house and stole his DVD player and collection of naughty DVD's.
I engraved a message on his plasma TV for good measure.
He won't be SMS-ing me again!

Several Nokia mobile users who received the message on their mobile phones sought confirmation of the promotion by contacting Nokia UK online.

'Winning' SMS is a hoax, Nokia UK warns
By Sunita Menon, Staff Reporter
Published: April 28, 2008, 00:05

Dubai: A leading mobile company has warned its users not to respond to a message that tells them they have won thousands of pounds.

A number of Nokia mobile users in the country said they received a message in their inbox that read: "Congratulations! Your cell phone has won £165, 000 [Dh1.2 million] in the ongoing Nokia UK promo."

The message also featured an e-mail address and a telephone number for claims.

Gulf News got in touch with Nokia Corporate Communications in the UK for clarification. The company said the message is one of several hoax sms's that are circulating around the world, and Nokia has nothing to do with them.

Confirmation

The mobile manufacture apologised to its customers for any inconvenience.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Several Nokia mobile users who received the message on their mobile phones sought confirmation of the promotion by contacting Nokia UK online, while there are a few who tried to call back on the contact number provided for claims.

R. Vasudevan Nair, an IT professional, said he had been informed of similar messages making the rounds through e-mails and immediately got in touch with the mobile company in the UK when he received an SMS on his mobile.

"I wrote to Nokia Corporate Communications in the UK and they informed me that the message was a hoax."

Dennis Fernando, a salesman who also received the message, tried calling the telephone number provided at the end of the message.

"I dialled the number from a landline on a Friday when the rates are cheap. I made several calls on that telephone number but each time it gave me an engaged tone. I finally gave up, " Fernando said.

"I was warned by my friends that the message could carry a virus that would get my mobile jammed, but still I went for it. Luckily I did not lose anything."

Another Nokia mobile user said the telephone number provided for claims was one from an African country.

"I checked out the telephone code. It was from Nigeria."
