Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value

House Crafters completed our patio roof this fall. We are extremely happy that we went with their company. We received quotes from many contractors and have no regrets with our choice. Ed was our first point of contact after submitting an online request for a quote. He was very responsive in emailing us a detailed quote in a timely fashion. He also met us in person at our house to go over some of the final details before we signed our contract. He was kind, professional and honest. His team was led by Mark on-site, who was vigilant and brought viable options to the table when needed. He also kept an open mind to our project and kindly used his years of experience to point out areas where there were options to improve the look of our patio project. There were a few times throughout the project that we needed to reach out to Mark and Ed after normal business hours and they never made us feel like we were a bother. Most importantly though, the price was fair and the job was completed to expectations, on time. We are looking forward to setting up the patio furniture in the spring and enjoying it for many years to come! From gettin an estimate, havin the patio built we were completely highly satisfied. Ed M came out n was helpful in helpin us design the patio with his ideas. He surpassed our expectations. Price was better than three other companies n the guys who built the patio worked diligently n professional work was compiled on time n area cleaned up. Highly recommend.

We got our whole front of the house redone. The guy who sold it to us was really patient with us (we made a bunch of changes along the way). The workers were pros, they cleaned up every day, and finished the job on time. The end result was even better than we expected. The only hiccup was that it took a while to get the project going, but that wasn't House Crafters' fault, it was because there wasn't enough wood. I definitely suggest House Crafters for any home improvements you need.

House Crafters came out to do a estimat on our roof witch had been leaking from the skylights. We did not know the exact age of the roof but Bob their salesman came out pretty quickly to take a look. Bob went up on the roof and did a very extensive explanation of the issues but also what the product options were. He also was able to give us the information on who to call for lending options. We also appreciate that Bob observed CDC guidelines when come for the call in the middle of a pandemic. We got approved for a lender and the team they sent to do was very pleasant at professional. They kept to themselves and worked the entire day with no interruptions to our own day. The lead on the crew even explained some of the issues that came up in the project and showed us pictures for context witch we appreciated. Their clean up was done fairly well and made sure that none of the yard around the house was damaged or ruined from roofing coming down. I would use Housecrafters again for my roofing needs and recommend to others as well.

I didn't have any work done by House Crafters of WNY, but I wanted to share my experience. Last year, they were hired to replace my elderly neighbor's roof right before winter. The first issue was that they didn't ask my wife to move her car so they could add more tarps. Instead, they just threw all the garbage on the sides, and the roofing shingles and nails ended up on my driveway. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and let them clean up.

When I came home, they claimed to be "done," but I still saw a lot of shingles and garbage. Without even looking hard, I easily found 10-15 nails in my driveway and lawn. I decided to call the salesman, who my neighbor said was a good guy. I calmly voiced my complaints, explaining that I have kids who walk around that area. The salesman responded rudely, saying, "I heard you the first 20 times you told me." I then spoke to the owner, who sent the crew back the next day to "clean up." The foreman of the roofing crew apologized for the excessive garbage and assured me that their regular crew would never do that.

However, the third and final issue is that today, while the snow was melting, I spent an hour on my hands and knees picking up roofing shingle pieces and another 15-20 nails (both new and old). Considering the $13,000 my neighbor paid for a ranch roof replacement, I expected a better job in terms of cleaning up and being considerate of the people around the house, especially since we had nothing to do with the improvements. It seems that the quality of service depends on which crew you get, as I've seen in other reviews. The owner seemed okay, but I would never give a dime to the salesman, Bob, due to his unnecessary attitude towards me. Perhaps his true personality comes out when he's not looking to make a sale. I'm giving two stars only because the foreman was nice, even though he didn't fulfill his responsibilities from the beginning. From what I can see, the roof looks decent.

Last month, on March 8, House Crafters of WNY came and replaced my roof. The following week, they also replaced the gutters. Overall, I was happy with the work they did. However, we recently experienced a strong storm with high winds. While I was sitting in the back bedroom using my computer, I heard a banging sound coming from the back wall. Curious, I went outside to investigate and found that two siding runs had come off. It was then that I realized the 'J' channel, which I believe is what holds the siding in place, was missing. This 'J' channel was supposed to be replaced when they installed a small roof overhang at the back of my house. Unfortunately, someone had removed it and failed to put it back, leaving the siding exposed to the winds. It wouldn't take much effort to fix this issue, as I have spare materials in my garage. I've tried reaching out to them through email and phone calls, and I even sent them pictures, but I haven't received any response or call back from them.

The problem I'm having with House Crafters of WNY is that I paid them $20,000 as a deposit, but I haven't received the product yet. Randy H, who is really nice at first like everyone else from House Crafters, told me I would be second on the list. But now they're saying they don't know when or if it will happen. They also said the prices went up, and even though I have a signed contract for $43,400, they want me to pay extra because of the price increase. They messed up my backyard by putting six holes in it for the foundation, and the telephone lines got cut because they didn't call the utility companies like they were supposed to. They never called me, I always had to call them to find out what's happening with the project. When I call the owner, Ed M, now he just says, "Yeah, what do you want?" And he's telling me that if I want to continue with the project, I have to pay for everything, even though I have a signed contract. They won't cover any of the additional costs for lumber, siding, or anything else. From what I understand, I paid $20,000. Can you please give $15,000 back to KeyBank and $5,000 in cash? I would really appreciate it. That's my initial deposit.
