I’m not for sure if this review actually make it onto the app. You asked for an honest review and that is what I’m going to give. The reason why it is three stars is due to the fact that the story is truly a great one. It keeps you engaged. It wants you to want more, you don’t want to leave the story for one second. The writer has done an amazing job. So, in this case the story received a three star, and that is due to the fact, I cannot complete the rest of this story. The app to me is very questionable if I chose to purchase this on a Kindle or even on my phone as a subscription then I would’ve had an opportunity to finish it but because I chose this particular app (GoodNovel), I must purchase tokens/ points. When I first started reading the story, I purchased $10 worth or should I say the price of $9.99. Found out shortly after that I had to make a decision. Either purchase some more tokens/points. Or stop reading the book all together or purchase the tokens in hopes that. It’s enough on the next purchase that I could complete the story. So opted for the last option hopefully by me spending $19.99 I would have enough token/points to complete the story. I was at about chapter 53 when I made the purchase. Believing that I only had a few more chapters to go. After I made the purchase. I finally had an opportunity to see how many more chapters it going to be needed to complete the story. It stated I had about another 1700 chapters to go. That’s when I realize that my second purchased was not going to enough. So I decided to finish reading as far as I could go. Now I have reached a point where there are no more less I choose to purchase some more watch, the full a few extra tokens/points, and we knew early check in points. This in time will only gave me enough for one roughly about 4 to 6 pages it may take me and then something to read the complete story. If you are truly looking for an honest with you. I will tell you that this is not the app to read a complete story. Set up to lower you in and spend a great deal of money. On your first purchase unless you’re willing to spend. a few hundred dollars you’re not purchasing a textbook for college you are not purchasing a Great woke up you’re not even purchasing a book from the 1800s. All of these would be books that you could hold in your hand and put on a shelf. This is only an app where you can’t even. Print it out to stick on your shelf so this APP IS A RIP OFF. Don’t waste your money….

8-15–2023 - I started reading a book on this Facebook page today thinking that is was a complete book. I am a quick reader and after about 51 chapters, I was locked out and was required to pay to continue reading the book. Okay, so I paid for the book @ $9.99 and received 1000 “bonus points” and continued reading more chapters, So then I get up to 171 chapters and it asked for another payment it will unlock anymore chapters even though I have paid $9.99 and have gained 1000 bonus points, but they aren’t showing up in my total points. About that time a msg. shows up saying those points

are not awarded until Sept.

THIS IS BAIT AND SWITCH ADVERTISING AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED.. As a new customer you should at least Be able to finish the book you are reading without having to pay for a book for the same book again.

I’ve been reading this book for 60 days .. it has cost more than 200.00 dollars. It’s continuously repetitive and puts out 1-2 chapters now for days .. it’s positively frustrating, annoying and so unfair to consumers. If you offer a book to read it should be a complete book ! They have charged to many people an extraordinarily high price to pay for a book they cannot produce .

I have spent over $100 on a novel and per the app I’m only 26% complete. That’s $400 by the time I complete the book. Granted it’s an amazing book but this is cruel even well known authors are not charging $400 for a book. I really think you need to rethink your strategy. I’m not purchasing anymore ever so if you intend to keep business I’d only charge $25 a book. I’d also like to be able to finish by current boom without spending another penny!

I have been reading Married at sight for awhile now. They are only releasing about 2 chapters er day, and it is stupid. Why can’t you just release the whole book! I bought(actually they charged my card for it without my permission) the $119.00 with the extra 8400 pop pints in June. In the first 10 days they took away 7,500 of my bonus points so I emailed them and they put them back.Now they have taken 14645 clearing out all of my coins and I have nothing after only 1 1/2 months. That is just ridiculous, your coins should not go away like that and at least last more than 1 1/2. I want to finish the book, but I am not letting them charge me for more coins when I just bought some I should have got to use!

Despite “GoodNovel” always replying and saying they give good value and some sham complaints department ‘finding’ them trustworthy, the whole lot is a SCAM, no book costs that much to read and proper authors get a good competitive earning from a decent book. The one I got scammed into reading was really a load of [censored]. Any author worth his/her salt would not enter into this kind of arrangement.

I have been reading Married at First Sight on Good Novel for awhile. I spent well over $100. to $200. to read this novel only to get to a point where a chapter or two a day is released. Chapters that consist of 4 or 5 pages on a cell phone screen. You can not even earn bonus reading points because there is nothing to read. I had purchased tokens and bonus points in the deals offered just for Good Novel to take my purchased bonus points saying they expired. They expired because there was nothing to read to use them on.

You receive multiple complaints on the pages of the novel. Does the author or Good Novel ever review the complaints or try and resolve the issue. We come to your site to read your novels but end up feeling scammed. I just want to finish this one book so please release it in its entirety and be done with it. Your going to loose a lot of readers otherwise.

The stories are just “okay”. This app has a lot stories with very bad grammar and poorly translated, written by amateur authors. Those issues make it hard to read and harder to Willingly pay for expensive stories that are carelessly written. There isn’t enough ways to earn coins and it takes months to read a book for free with coin bonuses. Easy to lose interest.

I significantly prefer the apps that have a yearly subscription with unlimited access. I use them and avoid this app because it’s just too expensive. I won’t pay $50 US dollars for a story. And yet it happens here with some of these stories here.

They claim to “wish to provide affordable novels and their fees pay the authors as well as the app”, but I don’t believe that any novel should be as expensive as they are on this app. I can purchase a traditional hard cover printed book for $25 USD or less. There’s no reason to pay upwards of that for an online story. Just way too expensive on this app.
Especially when their app competitors such as Galatea offers an unlimited yearly subscription at a fair price. They also offer novels by real published authors. And stories are much better written and proof read.

I got hooked on what was said to be a short story on Facebook. Was persuaded to download app to finish this so called short story. This short story turned into a dragged on 1000+ chapters (not even 3 full iPhone pages each chapter). I have spent well over $70 on one “short story” from a fb advertisement (aka scam). Currently in chapter 700, shame on me! Each chapter has multiple typos, seems to be deliberate typos. The more you comment the more the book gets recognition and the author or I should say authors get compensated! They repeat chapters, and screw up character names. Repeat the story over and over to keep the book going! If you ask me this is total scam and waste of money! No one should ever pay more then $40 on a book and that is expensive! Let alone a book with so many repeats and typos. Ei. DHEN3$294’ (at least two in every 3 page chapter).
Charges come from Singapore, which I’m not too comfortable with since I’m in the US.
I am all for supporting but this is robbery if you ask me!
No monthly subscription only pay as you read! Disgusting and @google and @iOS app services should be ashamed of allowing this to go on! Needs to be addressed with the ComplaintsBoard.com if you ask me!

Being an avid reader I thought I would try this app. I love the idea of supporting new writers. I started an interesting novel and ended up buying 1000 coins so I could purchase the book. I should have stopped there. It is impossible to understand how much the cost of the novel actually is. After reading maybe 100 chapters I was out of coins. Thinking I made a mistake and just didnt purchase and apply coins correctly I thought I would invest in another 1000 coins so that I could finish the novel. Now at chapter 188 and maybe reading for 45 minutes I am again out of coins. This novel is almost 2000 chapters with some chapters being only a couple of pages. At this rate I will pay hundreds of dollars for an indulgence in a novel that is an ok story line but obviously not well written. Or maybe just translated to english poorly? I can purchase Best Sellers which have been fully edited on other platforms for the $20 I spent and dont have to spend time reading paragraphs to understand the authors intent. There are no information pages that clearly state how to use the site and manage coins. This is the biggest waste of your money. Its and endless money pit. If I could give it zero stars I would.

Don’t use this app. If I could give negative stars I would. I started a book almost two years ago, and if you spend money to read it would likely cost more than a thousand dollars. This Chinese company screws me nearly every day. Today it reduced my “coins” by nearly one hundred. It’s bad enough that they take at least fourteen coins per chapter, but they repeat the same thing over several chapters. This is the biggest ripoff I’ve ever seen. Even though I’m on chapter 3006, I’m still less than 63 percent through this never ending story. Even though there are at least a thousand other chapters that would qualify, this last chapter is the most useless to this story. I’m about ready to say f… Charlie and stop wasting my time on this ever growing stupidity of an unending story. It’s taken over 2 years to reach this point, since I’ve resolved to only use earned points (when they aren’t arbitrarily taken away), and every time I paid for points the company always charged my card more than I had agreed upon; while still only crediting me with the points I had ordered. If one were to buy this book at the rates being charged for the electric copy with this company, it would likely cost more than a thousand dollars.

This app is a scam! Nowhere in this app does it explain how they work. Instead,…they wait for readers to get totally involved in a story, then they keep sucking more and more money out of you just to keep reading the book. In less than a week they’ve required over $70.00 from me to keep reading the story I started on Facebook. I realize I’m the fool for paying that money. But I honestly kept thinking I was finally getting towards the end. But NO! According to the book I’ve been reading for 12 hours a day, for the last 5 days,…..I’m only 14% finished! WTH! At this rate it’ll cost me over $1000.00 to finish the book! This is absolute crap!
I’m a disabled woman that thought she’d found an interesting story and a cool app. Instead, I’m a foolish woman that trusted that I’d be able to enjoy a book for $10-$15.00,…..only to be robbed by a company that has no conscience. I understand the need to pay writers and developers. However,….they’re expecting users to put their children through medical school! This is unconscionable! And I have every intention of reporting this scam on every social media platform.
All I had wanted was to read a good story. But I was foolishly taken advantage of.

Writers find a different platform if you want followers!

Yeah I got hooked on a book so I was willing to pay the extra money for reading it. I went in knowing that it might cost more than the average digital book. But what I did not like and why I consider this theft is after buying coins to pay for the next chapter of the book it stopped giving me notifications that swiping to the next chapter would cost coins or the number of coins.
Add insult to injury. After I used up the $10 worth coins, I hadn’t finished. So I sign in and then an ad pops back up for coins being up to 50% off. Because I wanted to finish the storyline even if there was somethings wrong with the book and some editing mistakes especially early on, I bought some more coins. The coins never showed up in my account. $10 for 1000 coins normally that because I was buying them on sale I should’ve got 1300 coins.
Simply put:
You can outright buy 3-8 book for the cost of 1.
You can not see if the book is complete or how many “coin” it cost, even when earning about 20 coins a day. (20 coins doesn’t cover 1 chapter! I looked at my transactions to see where the coins where spent, on they very up 50 coins for a chapter!)
Plus there is no contact for customer service.

Disclaimer: I have started reading only one novel. You will understand why as you read this review.

1. The novel is not a final draft. There are errors throughout. False information presented, words are missing, misrepresentation of actual things.

2. “Chapters” are actually scenes. This is a concern when you “pay” per chapter.

3. You “pay” using virtual coins. You can earn coins and you can buy them.

A. To earn coins, you check-in daily to earn 20-25 coins, and you watch Ads (which now consists of five 30 second Ads with a 3 minute waiting period between each Ad) for 3 coins per Ad. These coins are only good for 5 days, so accumulating coins to sit down for an hour, or more, and read is not possible. It takes me around 160 coins for 30 minutes of read time.

B. You can pay $9.99 for 1,150 coins. There other options available.

C. Chapters take around 12 coins each.

4. After paying $9.99 once and using Ad coins over two months, I am on Chapter 226 which is only 7% through the book. To purchase a novel in the store usually costs $20-30.

5. Once you open a novel you have to completely exit the App then go back in to get back to the main page to do any other activity in the App. Yes, there is a 5 second Ad you have to wait for every time you open it.

6. There are other drawbacks regarding obtaining free coins.

I really enjoy finding new authors to read here, but this app takes your coins arbitrarily and there’s NO APP SUPPORT! Other folks say it’s a scam, and I’m not entirely sure. I’m certainly leaning toward scam, but what I do know is that on at least 2 different occasions I paid 19.99 for over 2000 coins to read, read less than 10 chapters at 30-35 coins a piece and then the app said I was out of coins. And other reviewers have talked about getting coins for watching ads or completing tasks or for simply reading for so long, NONE OF THAT HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE, so those features must not be given to everyone, another pain point. And, again, there’s no app support to report this to! And many of these books are over 100 chapters. Even without the shady coin-taking, based on what they charge, you’re still paying $50+ a book to read, that part is definitely cringey, when you can buy brand new books for far less and still make te authors money. So my options here are I either shell out more money or stop reading here, neither option is a good one only because I have fallen in love with some of the authors here who only publish on this platform, unfortunately. I understand paying authors, but there should be a (REASONABLE) cap per novel. So I can definitely get why people think it’s a scam and if I could give the app and platform zero stars I would.

The ridiculous amount it costs just to read one chapter is enough to make me hate this app.
Similar apps allow you to earn daily points that guarantee you’ll at least get to read one chapter per day. GoodNovel has a rewards system but it’s taken me almost a week just to earn enough to read one chapter of the book I started. I tried buying points but I was only able to read 10 chapters from the $20 I spent. They start by making the chapters 20 points but once you get into it, they quickly put the price at 50-70 points. And the chapters are short and mostly filled with fluff. The stories are unending. Literally. Some books have 1,000 chapters. They just ramble on and on, only giving you a little more plot with each chapter.
JUST. DONT. DO. IT. It’s an absolute waist.
I’m surprised at the stupidity of the editors. At least by giving a chapter a day for free, it’s almost guaranteed that I’d pay for the next few. I was fully enveloped into the story I was reading but after having to wait to earn points, I just couldn’t care less anymore about reading it.
They also don’t name the chapters or put the points needed next to them so if you’re waiting to earn 59 points to open a chapter, and you already have 55 points, if you accidentally click on a future chapter that costs 52 points, you’ve just opened the future chapter and have to start over again with saving for the chapter you originally wanted to read.

I’ve spent over $600 to read a basically never ending story. The app promises points for reading time but does not reward the points. The rare occasion they do reward you the points expire within 2 days. Instead of using the bonus you get it uses the points you pay for instead so you don’t actually get the free chapters from the bonus.

After looking at the logs of time I spent on the app (almost 6 months), I noticed all of the points from checking in, as well as reading time have all expired before I could use them. Even the bonus points I received for a purchase expired before I could use them. This shouldn’t be possible because I read on here daily.

Next issue: The book is over 3000 chapters that are all only 6 pages long. Each day they release 4 chapters, making it impossible to actually use your points unless you are reading 20 books at a time.

I actually went back to the beginning of the book (it’s actually a good story and that’s the only reason this app got 2 stars). It took me just over 15 hours to get back to where I am. I would be more inclined to check out some of the other books on the app if they would just finish the story. Most of the books are unfinished, and the ones that are completed are terrible stories with bad grammar and/or the author forgetting their own characters names.
Developers need to fix these issues. Also put a support email or something so people can ask questions. This app is developed in Singapore, so the amount I have spent should be enough to pay a person for 2 weeks to respond to support tickets.

Each book I’ve started to read has 20 plus pages per chapter then all of a sudden you have to start paying per chapter. The chapters get very short some even only a page long and the cost is up to 18 coins per chapter. Some books the writers will stop chapters in middle of a thought and next chapter will start in middle of another story. It is identical to going to bookstore and buying 5 books and tearing them into sections then where you tore the first part of the book off and adding the next book somewhere in the middle and a little later doing the same with the third and forth books. It’s a huge waste of money on lost if the books to start to pay to read they are like the daytime tv show called days of our lives the bold and the beautiful and as the world turns. You have the same scenarios day after day with the same outcome being repeated but with added characters to the main one l. very stupid and this app along with the writers for this app are nothing but scammers. The best book I’ve started to read on this app can be read for free elsewhere. And it has over 3300 chapters with no end in sight yet. And now I have gotten a response from the developer stating that they push affordable books on their platform. So much nonsense. You can buy just about any book in a real book store or even ebooks for less than 35 usd. I and reading two books on this platform that so far has cost several times over that amount. One book that I started reading in this platform now reading for free would have cost me over 200 usd if I had kept reading on this app.
