Episode - Choose Your Story Had this for over a year. Horrible

I've had and used for over a year so I feel like I'm qualified to make a review on it...
The app is so horrible I'm going to try and compile a list of a few of the many problems:
1. First of all, if you broke your phone and get a new one it doesn't save your story progress, you just have to start over. There's an option to get a "code" for your account that you can put into your new phone that will sync it but that doesn't help if you broke your old phone?
2. The graphics: The backgrounds actually aren't that bad some of them are actually quite nice but the characters are so hideous. The girls usually look nicer than the guys but the guy hairstyles are so ugly I literally can't stand to even look at them. They need a wider variety of character looks, every story has the same looking characters. The noses don't match up with the face half the time and it's so ugly to look at the faces with a nose that doesn't even look human. The clothes don't even fit the characters, when they walk the clothes like glitch and move awkwardly with the characters. The clothing options are pretty decent and quite vast but the clothes just move so awkwardly on the characters that I'd rather not be able to change clothes if it meant that the outfit they wore actually fit. Shoes especially don't work in this game, especially on guys, they're usually like 50x too big for the feet and it's happened in every story and update.
3. The stories.. Some of them have an interesting plot line that make you excited when you get new passed but others are so short, literally maybe 40 seconds, that I can't believe I wasted a ticket on that. My biggest problem is that the writers type so annoying when literally 0% of the earths population talks like that. Examples: "er mah gerdd" "totes" "omGgggggggggggggggggg"
And others literally do these writers have to type like every single teenager is stupid and illiterate and only talks in text speak. I know there's some teenage writers and stuff but I'm sure they don't go around talking like that.. So why are the characters? The stories tend to either drone on forever or the characters change overnight and the story is over, there's basically no in between.
4. Tickets and ads- Literally every review complains about this and always has. The ads beforehand are ridiculously long, especially when a lot of times the ads can be longer than the stories. I get they have to make money but maybe every time the tickets refill show an ad? Maybe one every story even though that's ridiculous but the amount of time they currently are is horrendous. You have to wait 4 hours for 3 passes and I actually wouldn't mind that much if the ad times wasn't longer than what I'm spending my ticket on. At least shorten the time or give an extra pass or something?

I've seen every review complain about the ticket and ad time yet the company feels no need to even try and work on it. The fun of some of the stories doesn't outweigh the cons of this app from the ugly characters to awkward clothes to ugly hairstyles to way too long ads and so on. It's just not worth it to me for all these cons. Maybe if the company actually listened to the reviews and users more people would try and keep the app. So, until they do I am deleting this app.

Episode - Choose Your Story Content has been updated

Alright, so I love this app and I've played it enough so that now I get 4 passes every 3-4 hours. It's a great app and the fact that it's almost all user made stories is incredible because it's awesome that there's a place where people can write and share stories with the world that isn't super serious. Why did I give it two stars then? Here's my problem: when the author "updates" a story you get a message along the lines of "The content in the previous chapter has been updated. We have credited you with a free pass and set you at the beginning of the chapter so you don't miss anything!" Please, please, please, please, PLEASE, PLEASE, get rid of this feature! It's the most annoying thing in the entire app. Most of the time, when an author "updates" the previous chapter it's something like fixing a grammar mistake or adding a background where a black screen glitch happened. I DO NOT NEED NOR WANT TO REREAD AN ENTIRE CHAPTER! There is no point in me rereading a chapter to see the new background the author added. I can see that next chapter. The only point in rereading a chapter would be if the author added a choice or an ENTIRELY NEW SCENE that MAJORLY impacted the MAIN PLOT of the story. No author is ever going to do this and here's why: 1) If the author decided to rewrite an entire chapter to the point where it's necessary for us to reread it, they'd tell us in the next chapter and probably give us a recap and the new choices we'd have to make. 2) If an author is rewriting one chapter completely, they're probably doing it to others which means they're probably rewriting the ENTIRE STORY. In that case they would again, TELL US IN THE NEXT CHAPTER and prompt us to reread the ENTIRE story. 3) It's straight up annoying to rewrite an entire chapter. It would have to mean the author was so upset with their work on their last chapter that they'd go back to fix it all. Most authors don't publish a chapter unless they're happy with it and if they do mess up, they typically turn the plot in another direction in the next chapter. Half the time I see my favorite story updated, only to be disappointed that I have to go through the last chapter AGAIN remember the choices I made AGAIN so I can continue from where I left off. I typically just decide to not read that story. It's actually such a major turn off for me that I decide to go play another app and come back when I feel like doing some endless tapping on the corner of my screen for the next 10 minutes. It's especially annoying when the author publishes super long chapters. Usually that's a good thing, but not when I have to reread them when I know everything that happens. If I do decide to put up with the annoying rereading, I just set my phone down on a table or something and idly tap the corner of the screen while doing something else on my laptop until the chapter is over. PLEASE remove this rereading feature. It's never benefited me in anyway. All it's ever done is annoy me and turn me away from the story and app for a while. I can't speak for everyone but I do know that other people are annoyed by this too because authors often talk about people complaining that they had to reread the last chapter in the authors note (typically the beginning or ending of the next chapter).

Episode - Choose Your Story This Game Has a lot of Potential, Just Needs Improving

I love the game, but I had to give it 3 stars because I don't feel like I'm getting the full experience. I'm also deleting it in the meantime until it reaches its full potential.

First of all, the quality. The quality is great overall, but I feel as if it could be much better. And I know this because one of your ads had such good quality that I didn't even know it was your app. You could start by letting Authors/Creators adding special scenes. Just let them move around characters on a chosen background or canvas, whatever it's called, and be able to adjust the characters arms, legs, torso, mouth, hair, etc.
Also quality wise, some of the actions I've seen could be much better. And a lot of times the actions look overly exaggerated and don't fit with what's going on. But it could just be the authors fault for not putting the best suited actions for the scenes

Make it so nobody takes other people's stories. It's bad for the author, and for the public.

One word. AGES. It would be awesome if you could put babies, pre-teens, and children in general. It would also add to the quality factor.

I won't be complaining about the passes and the diamonds since those are very well known complaints, but I do have some suggestions. First of all, I think you should lessen the time to refill passes or add more passes if your not going to change the time limit.
I think I'm speaking for everyone when I say there should be a way to get diamonds. Just let us watch an ad or something, but make it our choice. People will be prone to clicking something when they feel as if it's their idea, and they can watch it on their own accord.

Is there a way that we can make stories on our iPads again? Or is that impossible with the new animation?

LET US MAKE SPECIAL SCENES! I'm sorry, I just really want it to happen!

Ratings. And not the "How many stars?" type of thang~ We should have the freedom to make a rated R movie. Let us have some more risqué scenes. But like, we'll have to put a rating on it. It could say on the cover of our stories, MA, R, PG-13, PG, G, KA, NA. And have people type in their age before proceeding with the story.
I think their should be restrictions to our sex scenes though... Wouldn't want it to be too visual, or else it would be classified as porn, and I don't think that's aloud on the App Store, or any application store for that matter!

Make the characters more customizable. Being able to change body types would definitely benefit our stories. If we want a fit person, or an overweight person it should be our choice.

Make more clothes. I'm not trying to sound like I'm not appreciative of all the clothes we get to use already, but I definitely think we are in need of more options.

I think since this is an app based around being a director (at least that's what I've collected) there should be lighting. Let's say it's nighttime and our character is going swimming. Instead of the usual shadowed looked, we should be able to make it look like the moon is making them shine in places. That reminds me, we should also be able to make them look like they're wet.

I'm sorry this was so long, but I really do think these things should be considered. They are only suggestions, and I hope you'll at least think about putting them on the game.

Episode - Choose Your Story Great game!

Personally I like this game! It’s super cool if your interested in role playing and stories. You get be in the story, make your own choices and experience it as if your really there which really interests me. The customization features and animations are great I like the cartoony style graphics and characters. The story lines are very suspenseful and fun to play. I love to make up stories and episode has actually been really inspiring!

However I am taking a star off because like all games episode does have its flaws. It’s gotten really expensive to play because all the good options in the game cost diamonds which you either have to buy with real money or earn them one by one from the game (which takes forever) so I suggest maybe giving the option to earn a few more gems by watching ads every day or having another type of currency in the game that you could use to do things like skipping ads, unlocking new storylines or buying tickets to play them. That way players can focus on using gems for making decisions in the story’s such as wearing better outfits. You may also want to offer new players some free gems to start out so that they can get a chance to try spending a few and then earn from there. Or just simply making gems easier to earn by giving a couple more gems for playing the stories.

Aside from that the only other issue with the game would be that it is pretty inappropriate. I’m aware that it’s an important part of the game’s purpose to include romance but I feel like it could be taken down a notch for younger audiences. One thing I appreciated was that I saw a warning about mature content before playing a certain story and an option to sensor swearing so I’m glad that these steps are being taken to protect younger audiences. It’s not really even the game I’m concerned about but more the Ads. I think the ads make the game look a lot more inappropriate than it really is. The game does include things like kissing, exposive clothing or s*x but the ads really exaggerate it making it seem worse than it is. I guess it’s all part of making it look exciting and getting you to download it but seriously. I remember seeing the ads as a…I’ll say 10 year old and they used to horrify me! So yes, there are innocent children stumbling apron the ads and being exposed to what they don’t need to see! I wouldn’t mind if you censored it a bit more, especially the ads.

Back to the pros of episode! I found this game again when I was older and much more mature and I saw it as a fun role playing opportunity instead of a insane 18+ child trap like I saw it as a kid. I’m glad I downloaded it, I’ve been addicted to it for quite some time now and I love to play. I love that there are completely different storylines and characters to be! I am a person that enjoys these kinds of games but can get bored of them very easily but with episode I can just move on to a completely different story whenever I want to! In conclusion my current experience with the game has been very pleasing! Obviously this game is not for everyone it is for mature audiences and maybe isn’t your cup of tea. So if anyone disagrees with my opinion I totally get where your coming from. But for now I really do like episode and it is probably my favorite game at the time. Now I’ll shut up be this review is getting way too long. Thanks!

Episode - Choose Your Story Okay, so

Lemme share some positive notes...
I really like Episode! It’s nice to like read some stories you like and experience different choices and create a type of ending based on the choices you’ve made. I love that we can even make our own with the coding pad! It’s super nice just to like take a break and try to create something for fun! What I admire about different authors around the world is their amazing art! It’s so neat and really cool to look at. I appreciate the small authors and the big authors for publishing the story they made into public! Their hard work is everything! It amazes me seeing how the Episode Community is getting along and how they’re growing.

On the bad notes...
I absolutely hate the diamonds! It’s so annoying how one choice can cost THAT many diamonds. Seriously, if you read something from Episode, YOU GET ONE (ONLY ONE) DIAMOND FOR EACH EPISODE YOU FINISH! That’s so not it! The diamond policy need to change. On one of the reviews, I heard an idea where spending diamonds for tickets can be useful, and I agree! It be nice if one diamond equals one ticket. I don’t like how it’s 4 tickets every 4 hours. That’s literally a ticket per hour, and that doesn’t sit right with any of us. I recall that we start off with 2 tickets and if we read 40 episodes/story (I forgot which) then we get 4 ticket every 4 hours instead of 2 tickets every 4 hours. I wish it could at least be 10 tickets every 4 hours, since we have to wait that long for tickets. I don’t like how after we spend 4 tickets the 4 hour countdown starts then. That’s horrible. I rather for the countdown to start once we spend one ticket for the episode. Alright, let’s talk about the ridiculous update I have witnessed. I don’t like how we HAVE TO READ a story by Episode itself in order to unlock the next book BY EPISODE! We don’t get full access to Episode after we read many, many episodes by Episode. As each book unlocks, the amount of episodes we have to read to unlock the next book increases! Why does that exist? That’s super ridiculous. I FEEL SUPER DUPER BAD TO THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER TRIED EPISODE AND WANT TO GIVE EPISODE A GO! The fact that they have to start episode without full access is just a no to me. Change it back to the way it was, please.

WHAT PEOPLE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ON THE EPISODE SYSTEM!
I hate how the cross transfer doesn’t exist (like transferring data from iOS to Android or Android to IOS). I thought inputting our User ID and Password would do the trick, but nope. Apparently it has to be “from the same App Store/Play Store”, which doesn’t really make sense.

Comparing Episode 2015 (the year I’ve joined Episode) to Episode 2020, I would go back to Episode 2015 considering how easy it was to use and had full access to everything. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Limelight and all the updates, but I’d just stick to the Ink stories back then.

Notice how there is more cons than pros? It’s unbelievable. :/ I would love to rate it 5 stars but after the bad things I’ve witnessed happened, I wouldn’t dare to give it 5.

I couldn’t download Episode on here because of the cross transfer. I’m really, really disappointed. I guess I’ll just stick with Episode on my old phone.
Please consider this review. I’m trying to make your app more enjoyable. I want to help improve Episode for the better and not for the worse.

Episode - Choose Your Story Uhmmm.??50-50

Episode has a lot of interesting stories that I actually find intruiging. Probably the only time I'll catch myself on the verge of reading a cliche mafia story. Or even the quirky "not like other girls" chic that just moved to the neighborhood and three guys/girls are all over her (sometimes) . Episode also does a good job with diversity in their offical stories with picking the gender of your lover interests and plus sized women. However, with the episode official stories come the choices.
If it's not a simple dialogue choice then it'll cost gems. I understand implementing gems as a way to get money, but I'm sure there are plenty of young kids (around 10 years old) that don't have access to buying gems. And what adult would want to spend 20 whole dollars on 40 gems? I doubt any parent or bored, in-debt, college student would want to do that. The gems take away the fun of the stories and wanting to make the choices we want.
In one story I was confrtonted by "the popular school bully" and yknow- BULLIED. I was given the choice to be calm and collective and walk away, OR fight back with sass. No gems. Simple choice. So I sassed her and such blah blah and swore I was gonna be hot or something at a beach party. Well the choice came around to picking the bathing suits with two options. Each option was AT LEAST 30 gems. I don't remember but I believe when you start episode you're given 2 or no gems. I think as a starter, readers should be given at least 100 or so gems considering how much Episode makes the choices in their stories.
As a writer/reader, I love episode. I get to read many wonderful stories I find interesting while also given the ability to visually see it (+full custom characters in like 99% of the stories which is very cool). But it's upsetting when I can't "choose my story" if I have to put money into it. I'm just a 16 yr old wanting a good read about high school love and drama or getting knocked up by some gang leader.
But on the other hand, I think there should be some more diversity in the stories. Not as in LGBTQ+, Race, etc. (But I do think you should be able to choose your characters gender, it's usually always a female). I mean plots. It's pretty repetitive to see multiple high school love romances while trying to "find yourself," meeting a special guy/girl, blah blah, married a billionaire, screwed a gang/mafia guy, whatever.
Episodes community creators have wonderful stories. Truthfully, those are the only ones I read (can you guess why?). I'm glad everyone is given the option to make a story if they please. However the coding and directing is extremely confusing, especially to someone who's never interacted with any sort of coding such as myself. When I first checked out the website to get a feel of the scripting, I had no idea where to start. The video tutorial isn't very helpful in my opinion. Then again I only spent like 2 minutes with this stuff so it could be easier than I make it out to be.
In the end, Epsiode has some adjustments that should definitely be made so it's more enjoyable. Gems, scripting, prices, gem choices (I hate them if you couldn't tell), etc. But they still have their pros with diversity, community writers, wonderful art style (God, please don't change it), and interesting stories. Sorry and thank you for suffering through my rant but it had to be said. Have a wonderful day readers

Episode - Choose Your Story Episode: The Money Grab

Episode is a great app. The stories are interesting, the plots are great, and it’s fun to make decisions. However, how can a person actually enjoy this great app if they have to wait 3-4 hours for a 2 tickets? It’s either that or buy them. I’m not rich, I can’t just spend as much money on this app as I want so I have to wait 3-4 hours for a measly 2 tickets!? It’s very frustrating. And then comes the gems, THE FREAKING GEMS. Don’t get me wrong, the idea of gems are fine, but the means to get them are just as ridiculous as the tickets, if not, then even more. The only way you can get them is either buy them or go through as many episode stories as you can. And each episode for a story gives you ONLY ONE GEM. And these gems are the key to choosing the most desired options in each episode. For example: if you wanna look good on at a dance or whatever, you can either pay for 20 gems and get the best looking outfit or not pay 20 gems and get a crappy dress that looks like it came from a good will store (not that there’s anything wrong with good will stores, I think they’re great, but the clothing sold there might not be the appropriate attire for certain events). And these gems don’t just pay for the best looking outfit, no, they also pay for the best responses to what characters say or actions in response to an important event. For example: if you wanna save a band’s concert by subbing in for the drummer, you have to pay 20 gems. If you don’t have 20 gems then you can just sit on the sidelines and watch as everything goes wrong. I’d say your could wait for your gems to replenish and then continue but it’s not an option. And that leads me to the other problem that ties in with the tickets also: if you want to get more gems without buying them you have to go through lots of episodes but if you want to go through lots of episodes with light having to buy tickets YOUR HAVE TO WAIT 3-4 HOURS FOR ONLY TWO TICKETS. So you only get 2 tickets that leads to 2 gems every 3-4 hours. Any 20-30 gem option will take weeks or months to gain the ability BECAUSE TICKETS AND GEMS ARE SO SCARCE IF YOUR NOT PAYING FOR THEM. I understand that the creators of Episode want to make money off the app, but this is just outrageous. Here’s an alternative: when a person runs out of tickets, they can either buy them, wait 3-4 hours for 2 tickets to replenish, OR watch a bunch of ads for tickets. And for the gems: users can either buy more gems, play through a bunch of episodes, or do actions in the app (ex: take surveys, invite friends to episode, every 20 adds you watch you get 2 gems, etc.). That way, users like me can still enjoy episode and the creators can still get their money off the ads. Of course that’s not the only way to fix this problem, there’s probaBly other ways to make this app more fair and inviting for users like me (I’m sure I’m not the only one frustrated with this situation). But until this major problem is fixed, those of you who don’t have much money to spend on this game like me: have fun picking ONLY the bad options in each episode, because you don’t have any gems, and waiting 3-4 hours for only 2 tickets. I probably just wasted my time typing out this unnecessarily long review, and I never do this, but i just got so annoyed that I had to rant and I thought that ranting in the reviews would be best. Who knows, maybe if enough people complain, there will be a change, but I highly doubt that.

Episode - Choose Your Story Extremely addictive ! But , I have an idea

Okay , okay . As you've probably noticed , most of your players are female , including me . And i'm not speaking for every girl when I say this , but just hear me out . This game is labeled as an interactive one , which it is , but I have a thought . A proposal , if you will . Why not make it even more hands on ? I'm thinking full on character customization , and when I say " full " , I mean thorough . I'm thinking that maybe you could somehow make it an option to change the body shape of your character . I know that as a girl , and a feminine one at that , I enjoy the fact that I get the opportunity to make changes to my character . It's fun for me , and a lot of your players . Now don't get me wrong , the updates that you've made , when it comes to graphics , are exceptional . It's been modified to seem a lot more realistic , which makes the story itself more engaging for the reader . This itself is great already , but why not go above and beyond ? Maybe you could change the format in a way that would render all of the stories , including the ones that us players create , have the same up-to-scale graphics as the ones that you , Episode , pull together . I've chatted with a group of people , both guys and girls , who play during their free time , and most agreed that it'd be awfully cool if all of the stories had the same level graphics . Even more than that , if they could get the chance to really make their character their own . Like I mentioned before , character customization . I'm not just talking about hair , eyes , face shape , etc. i'm thinking about height , chest size , even the way the character walks ! Chances are , you've heard a thing or two about The Sims by Electronic Arts , specifically The Sims 4 , and heard the hype about the game , and how awesome it is , which is all true . If you've ever played , or even seen a trailer of the game , you can already tell that it's the type that can get you playing for hours , days even , and telling all your friends and family about it . Now , one of the highest points of the game , in my opinion , is the character customization . You have to admit , that it's pretty darn amazing how much you can personalize your character . You can basically make a mini look alike of yourself ! So , when you play the game , it naturally becomes that much more interesting ! The game itself is a masterpiece , and you basically get the feel that you , yourself , are in it , experiencing everything first hand . Episode is amazing . The story plots have so many twists and turns , and it keeps me and so many others coming back for more . Plus , you have a huge variety of stories to choose from , which always keep us readers on our toes . But I know for a fact that if my character looked like me , if I could relate , then I would feel like i'm in the game . It makes the story all the more real . Makes me feel like I really am apart of it , and not like i'm watching someone else's life unfold . If you really want to upgrade this game , then why don't you listen to what we have to say ? You might be surprised at some of the suggestions we have . Now , i'm not demanding that you to take my advice , or I'll stop playing . I'm a diehard episode fangirl , and nothing could get me to delete your app . This is just me , a player , coming to you , the makers behind this game , with a simple idea . So , what do you say , Episode ? Willing to make some changes for the sake of your readers ?

Episode - Choose Your Story Fun, very addicting, gem system needs work

I've been playing Episode for about two months now, and I'm still addicted. It's worked its way into my lineup of apps I use more than once a day, which is a pretty significant accomplishment, and speaks to the app's replayability. Actually, that's probably Episode's greatest strengths - it never really gets old because there's always another story to start. I also think the animation (for the most part) is pretty good, and I definitely prefer the new animation to the old.

The stories the Episode Team writes are some of my favorites - Mean Girls Season One was great, and while I haven't yet started Season Two, I expect it will also be well written and well animated. The Demi Stories are absolutely fantastic (even though Callie made me want to rip my eyeballs out in Season One).

So, that being said, here are my grievances:

While the stories the Episode team writes are great, some of the ones they give as recommendations seem lackluster at best, plagued by uninspired characters and grammar errors (I'm looking at you, Lovestruck). I know most Episode writers aren't paid professionals, so I don't have as many problems with these kinds of errors in their stories, but IMO, the stories the Episode team endorse should be the absolute cream of the crop.

As many other readers have said, the gem choices are very frustrating. I understand that the app needs a way to make money besides advertising, but the way the current gem system is set up, the non-gem choices are almost always illogical (From Glamanour Heights: "Should I let my good friend stay in my spare cabin that no one is using? Nope, better leave him out in the hurricane!"), and they're just far too expensive. The way I see it, Episode has two ways of fixing this:
1. Make everything cheaper. No more 30+ gem outfits. If they did this, I might actually spend a few of the very small number of free gems that I've picked up.
2. Give gems out as rewards. I'm thinking of a loyalty based system - for every 20 episodes you watch, you get 5-8 gems, or if you log on every day for a week, you get 2 free gems, creating a story that gets more than X number of views gets you gems. Watching ads is another viable option. Extra passes could remain available only for purchase.

Offer a way to sort stories by completion. Sometimes, I need a little stability in my life and I need to settle down and read 60 episodes where I know there's a resolution. Right now, the only way to tell is if the author puts that it's completed in the title or description. I want to filter stories in the romance genre, for example, by whether or not they're completed. That should be a pretty easy fix.

All in all though, a really good app that smartly crowd sources most of the work to what is apparently a pretty active user base. A few tweaks here and there would really allow it to shine.

Story Recommendations:
Finding Mr. Wright - a rare user-made story that makes you feel like your decisions really affect the story, plus, it's finished!
The Player - Lots of twists and turns, new animation style
The Assistant - Definitely for more mature audiences, but surprisingly good writing, and the author actually manages to make you feel the chemistry between the characters instead of just telling you about it. Waiting for a big twist.
Campus Crush - LONG. Incredibly long. Download the separate Campus Crush app for it, otherwise it'll take you a month+ to get to another story. Sometimes felt a bit drawn out with super short episodes, but has a lot of different interlocking story lines.

Episode - Choose Your Story My critique (sorry so long)

I like the Episode games they are entertaining. My first one was Mean Girls which I played all the way through and I love the sense of nostalgia it gave me for the movie, if they would have made a sequel to Mean Girls this would have been it. My second game I played was Hunted which by the title reminded me of an old Playstation 2 title Haunting Ground because it involved being chased around a creepy old mansion with mad scientists and their pet monsters. Where the Playstation version excelled was not only
the graphics (which is not fair to compare anyway) but the more detailed storyline and gameplay. I could have dealt with the bad graphics of Hunted had the mystery unfolded a little slower. I also would have liked to have been able to unlock hidden clues by finding in the rooms (sort of the way Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Allen Wake, above mentioned Haunting grounds, Agatha Christie, Sherlock Holmes and many other mystery games play) objects that could explain the story more (think diaries ,files, recordings etc) or unlock doors with objects needed to advance the story or escape. That is kind of the point of mystery games is to seek and find clues to solve the mystery don't get me wrong I actually liked the social choices found within the game. However, I would have liked to explore the creepy grounds that set the mood for the story or have the social choices lead to bad consequences that maybe I'd have to use gems to get out of or if my bad choice caused me to have to restart the scene I could see using a pass (after all the passes do eventually reset). Even though there was suspense there wasn't any of what I call sustained suspense. In Haunting grounds this Quasi Moto type character that chased your character around and you never knew when he'd show up, yeah there was a little of that but there was no consequence to make the monster seem particularly dangerous. Well he didn't eliminate anyone in your party or a side character like a guard or service personnel (like in movie clue the cook, maid and telegram singer, cop, door-to-door salesman all died before any main character even dies creating fear and suspense.) Also in Haunting Grounds, you the player came upon different objects in which to hide in or under. For instance an oversized armoire, under beds or benches, behind silk screens etc., the antagonist eventually caught on after you hid in the same spot over and over and the smarter the antagonist the less times you had until they caught on making play even more random adding suspense. Since Hunted reminded me of Haunting Grounds I was hoping to get to hide in things especially since for most of the Episode story the character you play has no weapons to defend themselves with. Speaking of which couldn't there have been provided options to get out of situations where they were cornered like options to distract or hide or plead for life or stumble on a hidden switch activating a hidden door or pulling an alarm to make sprinklers to go off jumping out a window, well you get the picture? Also none of the characters seemed to know basic first aid (like tearing up clothing to make a bandage for a bloody leg, for me this small detail took away from my gaming experience). Another thing plaguing Hunted another mystery is story consistency it seems to jump from point A to Z with no middle ground to connect the story or dialogue and scenes seem thrown in to correct plot holes from earlier scenes, this too is a distraction from good game play. Overall I did like Hunted but wish for all the above, sorry this is so long.

Episode - Choose Your Story Story making

This app is super amazing! I used this app for, longer I can probably can remember ! Buts there is its pros and cons, Unfortunately:( I don’t have a issue with a lot of things that glitch out that I don’t really mind, Like when your character is walking it stops and looks like the character is getting pushed ! But these specific Glitches irritate me. Number #1 Is that, Story Making, Back up a few years. Maybe 3-2 years. You could make stories, On Phone or mobile. I Absolutely loved it! Even though you might not have everything that’s on computer then on your Phone or maybe A iPad :D it was super fun, I loved it. Even though it did have its glitches like not showing it’s right animation. I LOVED IT! But now that classic “create story” button I would click every few weeks after finishing a story. Suddenly Vanished. I HATE IT! I don’t have a pc, computer, or desktop. And I hate it, I’m still used to making a story and I’m not usually on episode as before, I’m on there for 1-2 hours Then go. I used to be on episode what felt like 24/7. Please bring it back, I’m starting to get disinterested. The button I click every morning a few years ago, Made the game into what it was. And ruined a lot of people who wanted to create stories, on their iPad or phone. Please bring it back I’m begging you! Number #2 this is something that I don’t like, but I wouldn’t mind if it was still there, but I Hate it. Not a lot but H-A-T-E it. I wouldn’t mind if you said no though. This is when I’m on a new IPhone. I upload episode, And I used to come to that screen of those beautiful characters. And that classic E, then It would show “Did you have a account on another device?” And all that boring things you had to do to get into your Acc,but now you just Randomly go to a page, with 3 stories (gem options ) and read them. And no matter what you do. You can’t get out of it unless buying gems or.. earning them. Which earning them wasn’t even an option, meaning .. you need to buy Gems! And some stories weren’t exactly my type . I like scary, romantic, drama stories. But all of the stories were romantic. If your gonna keep this update. At least add a option where you can pick your genres. And ask if you had a old account. So you don’t have to go to settings not know what you can do to get that account. Number #3 last one I swear. Gem options, I mean not exactly a Big deal like numb #2 but annoying. Gem options, stories, whatever you call those stories where you gain gems. Gem options should give you 2 every episode you finish. Because some times it ask for you 10-40 gems at the start. And you barely have 2! And it doesn’t exactly improve the game. The things about it are just. Ok. That’s all. But most of this Review is talking about how it USED to be. This is the things that got deleted that lost ALOT of not only me but SOO many Other people! The story making on mobile, The Episodes you didn’t need to have tickets to go to each episode, old accounts, And Stars for reviews. I really hope that your happy with the game knowing almost half of the people that Use to play 4-3 years ago Aren’t. I’m absolutely not shaming you, blackmailing you. But I just hope that your happy that a lot of people aren’t happy with your game because of the things that used to be there. But not anymore. Or having the freedom when you first downloaded you could scroll for hours, read for hours without having the trouble to read certain stories. But the most thing I need you to do for me, and a lot of people that are inspired to be writers, that don’t have Laptops or Pc’s or Desktops. To bring back the mobile story making, otherwise then all of this , it would have been a 5.

Episode - Choose Your Story Fun way to read some stories

I recently got this last week and though I’ve enjoyed it for the most part, there are definitely some cons as well as good things about it. Before I downloaded this I had been playing Choices for a while. I do like them both, but I think this one has some perks that Choices does not. If you have read any reviews I’m sure you will see that the majority of the people who have anything negative to say about this it’s the diamond issue. But unlike Choices there is a way around the diamonds! So when you start playing at first, your library is small and the books are the regular costly choice type. As you read chapters, eventually you will fully unlock everything, it doesn’t take long! Once you have it all unlocked you can play stories that are created by community writers, they are basically the same thing except I haven’t had to spend any diamonds yet on premium choices which are the problem with the main stories which are not written by the community. When it comes to a choice the best choices don’t cost diamonds which is great! Without going into the diamonds too much I’ll just say I prefer the community stories just because I don’t have to spend diamonds on what I want to pick, it lets you experience the story without having to spend actual money on diamonds because you just don’t earn enough. Some of the stories are great in these community books, but there are some that have too many mistakes and spelling errors. When I encounter these books I usually just stop reading them and find another one to read because it’s so distracting when every sentence is not written correctly. I don’t mind some spelling errors, but when the sentence is something like “Him is to hot me might go fall in the floor” I am all set lol! Most of them are not like that but I’ve run into a few so far that were obviously written by someone who should get some help with spelling and grammar before they publish their book for the public to read. I have to say also on the other hand I’ve read some in this category that were way better than the premium stories, with better choices and story lines and detail. I like how this one actually has moving characters, rather than just having a picture of the characters face and a chat bubble for every page of the story like Choices has. In these books you are able to completely design your person with a ton of different options from hair style and color, eye shape and color, nose and lip shape and color. It makes me enjoy the story even more when the character is designed by me and they move around. Just a preference but I like this better than choices. Just the amount of books of this compared to Choices is enough to make me like this so much more. So overall if you want a better selection of stories, not have to spend real money, and want to be able to fully design your characters in every story and watch them move and interact this is what you want! You do still need tickets to play chapters but those generate for free, you just might run out and have to wait a bit for more but that is okay. Worth a try and if you have been playing Choices you should give this a try and see if you like it better! I do also enjoy Choices but they don’t have very many stories and in every single book and more than once per chapter the premium choices are so crazy. Sometimes one choice in a chapter will cost 25-30 diamonds which is nuts when you only get 5 for free a day and the 2 you earn off reading each chapter, sometimes you will also have the option to earn 3 per chapter but it still doesn’t add up to being able to make premium choices hardly at all. I notice I’ve been more frustrated with choices than pleased! Episode solves the problem with community writers and it’s a better way to full be able to appreciate the stories! Both have their pros and cons, but I highly suggest trying them both and seeing which you prefer!

Episode - Choose Your Story Removal of $10 for unlimited passes a huge mistake

NEW EDIT:
Episode recently adjusted their VIP package to $14.99 a month, rather than the previous $6.99 a week($27.96 a month). While I miss the $9.99 package and still think it’s a high price raise to make all at once, I’m glad that they made a change. Because they brought something back that’s at least similar to the monthly $9.99 deal, I added a star to my rating. I’d make it 3 or even 4 stars, but the changes they’ve made in the community stories are still pretty bad. I think they need to find a better system for ranking community stories, because the gems aren’t it. Optional ads could be part of the solution, maybe?

I also still stand by the rest of my original review - searching and filtering really needs to be improved, and making it users save stories to favorites is nice, but if they forget the story name it could be impossible to find it again. They should create a “history” page so people can see everything they’ve read.

And there are stories that are pretty problematic. Which in itself isn’t bad, but the app shouldn’t be specifically marketed to kids as young as 13 then. There are also stories that could be legitimately triggering(as in actual PTSD-triggering, not “I’m offended and disagree” triggering). People go on Episode to have fun and unwind, and those stories with triggers should really have warnings and options to skip chapters with disturbing content. I think a lot of readers out there would be grateful for those changes.

—————————————————
Episode has been fun, but the only way I ever really enjoyed it and frequently played was when I spent $10 for a month of unlimited passes and zero ads. I don’t typically spend money on apps but thought that deal was well worth it for the enjoyment I got. I recently updated the app, and my month has just run out. There’s no longer an option to buy another month of unlimited passes with no ads. I know other users are unhappy with this decision too, and hope that Episode will take their users negative feedback into serious consideration. Episode is unlike any app I’ve ever seen, including other interactive story apps. It’s one of a kind and it’s sad that they’re messing up the neat thing they created.

The disappearance of the $10 a month for unlimited passes/no ads package coincides with the recent addition of gem choices being introduced into community stories-I believe this is the new way authors can boost their stories visibility/popularity, which is also a mistake on Episode’s part. The optional “support me” with reasonable gem amounts was fine, but it’s getting embedded into the stories the same way official Episode stories work.

This isnt a good change for the community authors. Most don’t seem thrilled with the update. These are the people putting out the best content on the app, and Episode should support them better. Community stories are an amazing way for anyone publish their work on a platform where there’s a chance for their story to be read by millions. It’s been especially incredible because, to my knowledge, the popular stories have been recognized as such because of their read count. If that gets changed, so you honestly think good stories will continue to rise to the top? No, it’ll be whoever gets the most gems from their readers. That’s a system that’ll upset readers and creators.

Another note: Episode would benefit by having better a story organization system! It would be awesome if there was a tagging and filtering system. So if you wanted to find stories with criteria such as “choices matter”, “character customization”, “multiple endings”, etc. you could see results with only the stories that matched the criteria.

Final note: update the age rating. A significant enough number of these stories don’t seem like they’re PG-13, they’re really closer to the MA-17 rating. I think the complaints about the app being inappropriate for teens would go away if the app wasn’t listed as being appropriate for teens in the 13-16 range (though some are straight-up problematic regardless of age).

Episode - Choose Your Story An Entertaining Scam

Episode has a mask of great stories, artwork, and animation, but underneath all of that is a scam.

I discovered that, despite that they offer a subscription service as listed on their App Store page, not everyone actually receives these offers. When I first downloaded Episode, I searched the shop for these options, but they were and are still not listed. I searched EVERYWHERE I could to figure out why exactly this was the case, only for my search to turn up empty. I finally contacted their support myself and was told “In order to create a better experience for players and make sure that the special offers released are the best they can be, the team will sometimes release certain special offers to small groups of players to make sure everything is working properly. Unfortunately, due to the limitations of our support tools, we are unable to manually send special offers to players' profiles. Hopefully this will be available to you soon as well, but it may take some time.” So you mean to tell me that your publicly viewable offers are in fact not available for everyone? Seems fishy to me. For passes, they offer you ridiculous prices, such as 37 passes (used to read a chapter each) for a whopping $10. At first this may sound like a great deal, until you realize that most, if not all of the complete stories are at least twenty chapters each. This means that, if you choose your stories wisely, your passes are only going to ensure one complete story- maybe two. Two stories for ten dollars? And you STILL have to watch ads. Speaking of watching ads, I’ve been given the option a couple of times to pay five diamonds (used to choose premium options in the stories) to not watch ads for THAT one time only. It takes reading a single chapter to earn ONE diamond. Problem is, the premium choices are RIDICULOUSLY overpriced, and they’re often made to be extremely enticing to the point where your character would be completely stupid not to choose the premium choice. An example would be that your character needs to be somewhere on time, an amazing opportunity comes up, and yet you can’t choose said opportunity because it could cost up to 25 diamonds alone. Yes, most of the premium choices are that expensive. You can purchase diamonds also, but they’re also expensive. There are multiple options. Currently, you can buy 60 diamonds (worth 3 premium choices IF each choice is 20 diamonds) for $4.99. See how much of a scam this game is, yet? That’s not even the half of it. If you don’t/can’t purchase passes, expect to wait approximately three HOURS before you get more for free, which is around 2-3, I believe. And these chapters aren’t long, either. Maybe 5-10 minutes at most for each one. Possibly 15. I don’t count, but they feel very short.

But what I REALLY want to mention that makes this game feel even more like a total scam under all of that glitz and glamour is my experience with the game. Since I was only seven chapters away from completing my second story, I decided to buy the current 7 passes for $1.99 deal. Almost immediately afterwards, I was presented with an offer of receiving 5 passes and 10 diamonds each day for a week for $6.99- which was literally thrown in my face. This offer is STILL available to me in their shop. At any rate, the offer is hardly enticing to me, because I still have to watch ads. Before I made my purchase, I was NEVER given a special offer... but suddenly after I make a purchase, I’m encouraged to spend MORE money? There is no doubt in my mind that this isn’t a coincidence. I honestly would not doubt that the more you spend, the “better” offers you receive, including the publicly shown subscriptions, which I should have known were too good to be true. Think about it. They’re trying to sell you 37 passes for $10. Why would they offer to sell you a weekly subscription with unlimited passes and no ads for $2.99?

I advise you to play this game and to steer clear of paying for it. It’s worth it if you’re patient enough to wait to read more chapters. But in my eyes, it’s a total scam.

Episode - Choose Your Story Not Worth It

I made myself keep this app for a week and played five whole stories in order to be able to give it a fair review: Dolan Twins, Royal Baby, Marriage by Law, Bad Boy's Girl, and Teenage Detective. I also started Pretty Little Liars but refused to finish it because it was clearly created only to force you to spend gems or else you have a horrible storyline.

There are three main problems with this app: the gems, the passes, and the storylines.

Gems - The game is written so you frequently have to use gems ($2-$5 Worth for one question) in order to not be a total jerk. These questions show up frequently and you are often ridiculed by other characters for not choosing the paid option. Other than the clothing choices, which don't bother me as much, there's important relationship questions that you have to use gems for in order to make any sort of progress with the story. By taking these options away, you end up just watching a wishy washy story that takes forever to get anywhere.

Passes - Speaking of taking forever, the pass system is ridiculous. You can buy passes, of course, but then playing one story would cost about $5. And they're definitely not that good. So you end up waiting for passes. It ends up being about 3.5 hours for your passes to refill after you've used them all, which is just straight up crazy. Most games that require you to wait for lives give you one life every 30 minutes. Not 3-5 every 4 hours. Breaking them down and doling out one pass at a time would encourage people to play Episodes more, not less, as there would be more incentive to do other things on the app while waiting out the 30 minutes rather than having to forget about the app for 1/6 of the day, then have to carve out an hour of time to play those passes because you have to spend them all to get the timer to start again for more passes. THEN, that's still not good enough for the developers. Even after I've waited that long for the passes to refresh, I still have to watch two videos before I can actually use each one! Listen, I'm fine to wait for passes OR watch videos for them, as every other pay to play game does, but both?!? That's just absurd. It's just to annoy you into spending money to buy the passes. You should respect your customers more. Have a better app and they'll want to buy the passes to reward you for a great app. Instead, I feel like you're constantly flipping me off.

Storylines - The other two are annoying money grabbing techniques, but I could deal with them if the storylines were decent. They. Are. Awful. I read five different stories, and they all had three characters completely in common: the wishy washy main character who won't make a decision (seriously, they give you crap choices that will leave you wanting to scream), the love interest who is emotionally abusive but it's played off as "playful" or excusable because he has a hard life - emotional abuse isn't cute and it's never excusable! (Dolan Twins is literally the only exception I've found for this and their personalities were both what a 12 year old girl would dream up), and the evil girl/woman who tries to ruin your life in totally insane ways (and this against "best" friends or family!). No one acts this way in real life! No one you would want to spend time with anyway. This game is ridiculously sexist. As if the most important decisions in your life are what to wear and who to kiss. Anytime someone is mean to your character, she immediately falls apart. And most frustrating of all, even if your character has worked her entire life for a career (PI, doctor, lawyer), she immediately gives it up because there's a boy and even though he was really mean and it was super dramatic, he is now obsessed with her so that's more important. NO. THIS IS NOT THE MESSAGE WE SHOULD BE SENDING YOUNG GIRLS. And this game has to only be played by young girls because anyone over the age of 18 is too intelligent to deal with this drivel.

I'm sure no one will read this whole review, but after looking at positive review after positive review, I felt compelled to give a complete explanation of exactly how insidious this game really is.

Don't waste your time waiting for this game to get better. And developers, learn some respect. Respect women (who are not either straight up crazy evil or incapable of standing up for themselves or making a decision), respect men (who are not all abusive), and respect your customers.

Episode - Choose Your Story Episode’s Dropped Its Standards

3 years ago I wrote a 4-star review for the app. It deserved it; it was a good app save for the complaints about gems and passes. However, in the time since the review was written, I have deleted the game a couple times and tried to come back. The game just can’t hold me very well anymore.

The Episode-picked stories (of which provide gems) have become excessively redundant. It’s almost all the same plot with a single twist. How many stories do we need about a character with prestige switching bodies with an invisible character? Or trying to court someone “out of your league?” Or classic Forbidden Love? How many do we need about specifically picking between two or more lovers? How many do we need about accidental pregnancies and/or baby drama? There is little to no variety in the stories that provide currency anymore, and the stories are shallow. (Not to mention that the choices within are overpriced, count for nothing in the plot, and sometimes paid choices make no sense. Why pay for something in your own closet?)

On top of that, Episode keeps featuring more stories of that shallow sort while never seeming to expect previously picked stories’ authors to finish their books. It takes them months to put out two to three more chapters. I think the longest wait time was three or four months, maybe five. And these aren’t community written! I find very few writers featured by Episode who keep up their books. Episode ought to consider featuring completed books by the community that are actually good, that have depth, good writing, good and/or influential choices, and intrigue. (I’ll recommend some at the end of this if you guys want to know some of my finds.)

There are so many good community books. If you’re only reading them and not the featured ones, the app is decent. But this is where my two-star complaint comes in. My passes are not regenerating. I have 154 passes because of the way passes refreshed in the past. I stocked up on them and had close to 200 at one time. There also used to be ads to gain additional passes and you bet I utilized that. I was able to maintain a high number because the passes still regenerated their usual every 3-4 hours, and I only read 2-4 chapters, often thanks to a non-riveting story line. Now, I currently cannot read anything because eventually I’ll have no passes and they will not regenerate.

If you’ve gotten this far, wow, hopefully you found my review helpful. If you’re Episode, you guys need to do some serious changing. You’re coming off as not caring about your audience and only about their wallets now. You used to care about quality stories.

Stories I Like and Suggest
(Some of these stories are in Classic and Ink styles, in addition to the Limelight character style. Also, I believe all of these are complete and most are of decent length. Certainly worth your passes.)

> Gemma Halliburton’s Guide to the Zombie by J.C. Isabella [Action]
(The title is too long to display I think.)
> Dylan Tanner by Gregger [Action]
(Great mystery.)
> Evil Twins Heist by Alyssa Hynes [Action]
> Rock n Roll Revolution by Libby L. [Comedy]
> Sundosia by Susannah M. [Fantasy]
(This was such a good book. The author did such a great job creating her world.)
> The Phoenix Prophecy by Joseph Evans [Fantasy]
> The Secret of Rain by Joseph Evans [Fantasy]
> Mandatory Hold by Stephanie K. Smith [Fantasy]
> Dead Inc. by Libby Leonard [Fantasy]
> The Elite Five by EK Peters [Fantasy]
> Confessions of a Teenage Detective by Wynter Sapphire [Mystery]
> Blake by Wiktoria Forevel [Drama]
> To Love Again by Joriemar [Drama]
> The Bottom Feeders by Michael Berner [Drama]
> Venomous by Hannah D. [Drama]
> The Assassin: Femme Fatale (COMPLETE) by Mette M. Peleikis [Romance]
(The story is more action and adventure though.)
> Heat on the Water by Eva Sinclair [Romance]
(Genre is romance by it’s also a little adventure.)
> Death by Espresso by Kimberly Hamilton [Romance]
(I read this back when episodes were in classic style, so I don’t quite remember every thing. But I think this was also comedy.)
> A Step Ahead by N. M. Watt [Romance]
> Best Served Cold by Gahl P. [Romance]
(The genre is romance but this was more mystery when I read it, probably because you end up choosing choices that lead you on a path of intrigue, duty, or love.)
> Summer Share by Episode Official [Romance]
(And Mystery.)
> Loving Bad by Episode Official [Romance]
(This is actually a good story. It’s got intrigue to it.)

Episode - Choose Your Story Ehh

I’m sure the developers don’t even really read these but hopefully it will help someone. I would say I’ve had this app for a few years now. I enjoy it and really like the stories... but what is crazy to me are a few things:
1. You get 4 “free” tickets refilled every four hours... but for “daily challenges” if you read at least four stories you could get rewarded tickets or gems... sounds good right? You could maybe stack up your rewards from challenges so you can read for longer when you have more free time, maybe theres a story that really catches your interest, or so you can pay the ridiculous amount of gems required for you to do things in their stories... wrong, they recently updated it to where now the daily challenge tickets are considered to be the same as the four refillable free passes. And if you have over four free passes you will not receive any additional refill passes after the four hours (basically you max out at four passes, but can still stack up gems to pay for choices in their featured stories). So! What’s the point? If we check in everyday for daily challenges to receive additional tickets why are we then forced to either pay for more or use all the tickets we worked to get? By being avid readers and loyal users of the app we are being punished? I don’t get it.
2. The way they ask for gems in their featured stories... usually it’s if you want to wear something or for additional scenes in the story. I get the additional scenes and that they should cost the usual 15-25 gems, because that’s more work, fine. Well what is so funny is majority of the time it’ll be you or someone else in your characters closet giving you your choices of what to wear... and the option for the “cute” outfit will range from 10-25 gems... hahaha! Sorry, I still find that so funny. Because if it’s in your characters closet doesn’t that mean they own it? Lol why would you purchase something from your own closet? It just seems lazy and a ploy for cash.
3. There are a lot of stories created by users of the app and they are great. I love this feature of the app, this was the saving grace for this review and why I still remain a user of the app. It reminds me of the site quizilla (RIP) that was filled with users stories (usually fan fiction) that were basically chapters to stories made by users. But I feel that should be the apps focus... not money. There are great stories on there and Episode is utilized as an outlet for users creativity. The users don’t get paid by episode unless they’re contacted and asked to be a featured story. And their create format isn’t the most user friendly, so they work really hard to create on this app and sometimes even create their own overlays, ect. I appreciate them and their dedication to create something to share, it takes a lot of time and effort. The part I don’t get is a lot of these stories are better than the featured ones and cost no gems for any options... because episode is the only ones who can ask for gems. Even if you didn’t pay the users for their stories shouldn’t they be equipped to ask for gems if their stories are good? Maybe if they have over “x” amount of reads or followers? But not cost the crazy amount of gems featured stories ask for, but like 1-5 here or there because they read other stories too? And maybe that could be like an internal currency and get more people motivated to create episodes? And readers would still be purchasing gems from episode? Either way they’d still get paid (gross).
4. Watching countless adds.
So, the first episode of any new story you read will NOT require you to watch any commercials. But once you are hooked they force you to watch 2-4 adds before you can read the story unless you PAY to have no adds lol. Another ploy to get cash, the users don’t get anything from watching all of these adds; No gems, no tickets nothing but a waste of time lol. They get away with it because people like the stories. Funny but sad. I go through periods of time where I don’t use the app because I find this so annoying and I resent them for gouging people for money... and feel exploited. It should be use your tickets or watch four adds to read an episode... that’s it. Simple, easy.
5. Favorite stories:
Once you start building your favorite board you will notice ANY of episodes featured stories you have saved will always show up before any other stories... even if you’ve completed their featured story. Annoying. Because every time I have to go scrolling to find what I want. I guess I could clean up my favorites... but I don’t want to miss anything if it’s updated. You should be able to reserve your main slots with what you are currently wanting to read because their featured stories are plastered everywhere. And we get it they want our money and so they want us to read their stories and pay them gems. (This one is a little bit picky I know, sorry. Lol if I am going to say one thing should just get it all out, right?)

In closing the constant theme in this app should be creating freely for users and building their community to gain more loyal users. Unfortunately, it isn’t... money is the only constant in this app... and the other similar apps are following in Episodes foot steps... so, it’s probably just going to get worse, sadly. Hopefully there will be an app or site created in similar fashion that actually cares about creative freedom and not solely money and cash flow.

Episode - Choose Your Story Episode.help me!

I’ve used episode for the longest and I love the app, but a while ago, something happened and now episode won’t let me get into the app it’ll load for about 2 seconds and then it’ll say “Error. Can’t connect to server. Please retry to connect to server.” Something like that, and I continuously press retry but it just keeps popping up. I haven’t used episode for maybe I want to say 3 months because of this. I have deleted and reinstall the app, I refreshed the app and nothing will work. If this has happened to anyone before, please tell me how to fix it. And also, I just figured I would use my phone because I always used episode on my IPad but it stopped working so I tried to log in on my phone and it wouldn’t let me since I was already logged in on my IPad. Episode, please fix that!

Episode - Choose Your Story Inappropriate Things Happen

Hello, I’m writing this review for multiple reasons. I am a mom of two daughters Payton 8 and Brooke 11. Not long ago I found my daughter Brooke playing this game and she wouldn’t show me the game so I could make sure it was appropriate for her, so I decided to check the game out and download it on my phone. At first I was fine with it but during the middle of the game you start dating that alarmed me because Brooke is only 11, then you get married, then you have to make a baby first of all you are naked with someone else you can see there Nipples and bottom private’s boobs and you lick the person and a baby comes out I think it’s gross and not age appropriate for those under 14 in my opinion. I will not let my daughter have her phone back on less she shows me EVERYTHING!
Love,
Worried mama bear

Episode - Choose Your Story DO NOT DOWNLOAD!

Yes! I’ve been enjoying this app for a few YEARS, but whenever they feel they can SCREW OBER YOU THEY WILL! First incident I’d purchased GEMS and TICKETS...I switched phones input my user info for this app and EVERYTHING WAS GONE! It took a few months to get everything straightened out as well as I constantly had to deal with different “support technicians”. Since then I’d notice how my gem count would fluctuate, but I made no bones about it because it was only 1-3 gems. Now I’m dealing with the issue of my tickets coming up missing. I had 31 now, which dropped to 19. I used one ticket A FEW DAYS AGO and my ticket count IS STILL AT 18 RIGHT NOW! And all I’m being told is there was a glitch and I have to deal with it. Sooooooo basically it seems they are not going to replenish or restore my tickets. Again, DO NOT DOWNLOAD!

Episode - Choose Your Story its okay :)

I mean personally the game is great, i use to play it before but ran out of tickets too fast and deleted it. I finally downloaded it back.. and seen that i start with 2 tickets.. and i can’t play any more stories unless i start 3 chapters of one of the 3 given stories.. yet i dont have enough tickets to do that. I was playing some of the stories offered and realized that every choice i had to make costed diamonds.. and then i was getting a basic and boring story line.. especially when not choosing an option that cost diamonds affects the story.. so i deleted it. Its a good game if you want to waste your money on diamonds to make a story choice.. but me personally i am not going to waste my money to buy diamonds to make an option on a game that doesn’t have any long term affect to me. But overall its okay, i just wish i could actually enjoy a story.

Episode - Choose Your Story Mobile Creation?

Team Episode,

This is so much fun to play! I love the stories, but even more I love to write my own. One day I decided to delete Episode because I played it so much that I got tired of it. A few days ago I downloaded it again because I had a sudden idea for a great story. I went to the “create” button on the screen side panel to start writing. But it took me to a screen that had tabs saying “Read your friends stories” and lots of tabs that were tutorials on how to write. I tried swiping up to where the stories usually were, but it was just empty. I went to my profile where it had a button where you could create from there but it just took me to the same screen. I exited out, turned my iPod off and back on, logged out and then back in, then deleted Episode and downloaded it again. Nothing worked. I still can’t write any stories because of that. Please help me, I love writing stories!

Episode - Choose Your Story Issues with App Update

For a while, I wasn't playing Episode but I recently downloaded the app again and restored the account I was using previously onto a different device. When the screen loaded to my profile I recognized it as my usual account, but soon enough realized my passes and diamonds have all been reset. I looked to see if anything else was different with it and all the stories I've read are back to chapter 1. I got really frustrated after that because I've played Episode for a really long time, so the idea of replaying all these stories is challenging since I forgot the choices I made for each of my individual characters including their appearances. Also, because of the fact that the stories have been reset all of the diamond choices weren't saved and I can't buy them again as all of my diamonds are gone. Please fix this problem immediately because I truthfully like using this app to pass time, but it'd be nice to have all of my progress, passes, and diamonds back since I worked hard for all of it.

Episode - Choose Your Story Ghosted by contact center on a server error message

I reported an issue that had recently come up for me in a few stories. I keep getting a server error message, and then get kicked out of the story. Frustratingly enough, it was nearly the end of each of the stories I was reading. I reported the problem and sent screen recordings to better illustrate the problem to their team. While I was contacted within hours, the person reaching out asked me to better describe the problem, and asked for screen shots. I double checked the string, and clicked on the videos I sent them already. They worked fine, and was clear the person I was communicating with never even looked at what I sent. I responded by addressing the questions, and let her know the videos were there for review. That was several days ago. I’ve sent another email notifying them that the same issue has occurred on several other stories I’ve since started, as well. It’s clearly not on the user end, and something they need to adjust. However, I still have not heard back from them confirming they’ve received the screen recordings or anything.

Episode - Choose Your Story Needs major tweaking

This game is fun, no doubt about it. However, the ads cause the app to lag and eventually crash and once that happens, my pass that I “used” to start that chapter is totally gone. Not to mention the absolutely ridiculous amount of time you have to wait for each pass (3+ hours). You’re getting into a story and then “nope, sorry, you need to wait 3 hours so you can play the next chapter”. I mean really, so many other games/apps use this type of system and they make you wait about 30 mins. for each new “life” (or in this case, pass). Honestly, if you want to keep people on your app, wouldn’t it make sense to make it playable? I’m not going to complain about content, typos, or unfinished stories because that’s not my real issue with this game (although typos are just lazy and infuriating as far as apps are concerned), my beef is with the “pass” system and the ads. Less time for passes and an app smart enough to know when the ad crashed it to “refund” your pass, and this is easily a 5-star app. But backing people into a corner with IAPs to even play is just weak.

Episode - Choose Your Story If you’re poor - you really don’t get to “choose your adventure”

I love the idea of Episode, and kind of got addicted to playing it in the beginning. However- YOU CANNOT DO ANYTHING IF YOU HAVE THE FREE VERSION.

You can’t pick your choices (like build a relationship, kiss someone, or even wear the clothes YOU ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR, win contests, or make a good impression) because every time you make a decision, or get bullied, you become a push over and really- not at all the person you want to be.

The whole part of this game is about living a fantasy life, and choosing your own adventure, but really you have to spend $20 to even have fun with real decisions and personality choices. I stopped playing because it made me SAD. I hop on cuz it’s a fun dopamine rush, but then I just get so frustrated when I *choose to wear ugly clothesor *choose to lose a gameor *choose to be a bad friend and say awful thingswhen I really don’t have a reason to.

If episode really needs our money, at least make the free version more playable and not turn our characters into awful lives. The “happy ending” isn’t really that satisfying.

Episode - Choose Your Story Disappointing

This game used to be great, this used to be a great way to help myself unwind. But now it’s completely ruined. They fixed something that isn’t broken. You need to spend a lot of money on gems constantly if you want to even remotely progress in the stories. Obviously, you can progress through the story but you’ll get the crappy end of the stick because you don’t get the good options. (Example: picking outfits, making detrimental decisions) it’s ridiculous. Unless you want the story to be lousy and nothing to go your way, you won’t get anywhere. It’s not like you buy a package of 125 gems for $10 and you use 1 gem per choice. It’s 29 or 19 gems per choice. Which means, the gems go very quickly. You could easily spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on this game. I’m sorry, but people have better things to be spending their money on. It’s incredibly disrespectful of you guys to take advantage of people in this way. You changed something that used to be great. You should really consider changing this, because otherwise, you’ll be losing lots of people who have been loyal from the beginning. Me, being one of them. But not anymore. I will try to look elsewhere.

Episode - Choose Your Story Do y’all read these reviews ?

I came to write a review because of the diamond situation. & immediately get on here and see MAJORITY of the reviews are that the story lines are good. Which I agree they’re amazing ! But the diamonds for correct answers are a problem. This is basically what I came on here to say as well. Why do correct choices cost sooo many diamonds (29, 19, etc)? But y’all give us no opportunities to really gain diamonds without paying for them? It’s like I can never play a story how I want to because the diamonds cost so much. We only get one Diamond per episode we finish & that’s about the only way to earn them. So by the end of the story I’ve made 15 diamonds cause most stories are 15 episodes yet one correct choice in a episode is 29 diamonds ? It doesn’t even make sense. It just seems really money hungry. & that’s why I play this every once in a blue moon hoping when I get on again things have changed but they still haven’t. I’ve bought diamonds before, but after 3 choices in one story I’d have to spend more money. Y’all don’t even give us the opportunity to pick a choice that makes sense. The choice that’s free is always rejection or being rude or something you know none of us would want. Can we make the game a little more fair ?

Episode - Choose Your Story I’ve been banned, but I’m not sure why!

I am seriously confused. I was banned in the middle of my most clever Episode ever. It seems my account was deleted, and I was writing a fairytale. Nothing inappropriate or anything. It was about a girl named Brianna who becomes a good witch and with the help of her unpopular friends defeats a evil wizard named Matthew. I give little facts about me throughout the story, but I was only gonna show it to my friends. Plus it’s nothing personal. I’m so mad because it was my best story ever. It was called “Choices, choices, Brianna. A fairytale.” I said “Doorbell: Ding, dong!” A few times and it said that was inappropriate for some reason. I’d like to know why I’m being banned, for I’m just a kid who loves the fairytales on Episode. I found out about it from my cousin. I’m really upset. I’m so sad I can’t continue Brianna’s fun and funny adventures as a good witch with her friends Felisha and Sarah (and eventually another friend, but I forgot her name since I was banned) tell me why I’m being banned PLEASE. Thank you for your time, and please answer me and restore my episode account. Also, one other problem, it won’t let me do two capitals in a row in the beginning of a sentence and now I’m banned I’m writing another story about a girl who’s named KJ so that’s kinda frustrating. I have the right to know why I’m guilty!

Episode - Choose Your Story Tickets and Gems

Sadly I’m only putting 2 stars not because of the story’s themselves but because of what you have to do just to read another story. Like it’s not ok that you only get two tickets when the story has like 3 characters each, and when you run out of tickets you have to wait hours just to get two more. Honestly if there were 5 maybe even 6 tickets we wouldn’t have to wait so long just to see another story, and even though I like the cliffhangers I want to be able to make a choice if I want a cliffhanger or not, like if I want to continue reading or not. Also another thing is that it’s annoying that you only get one gem every time you finish a story, and I say that’s unfair because if you want to make a good choices in the game you have to almost set yourself up for failure because you don’t have enough gems so I think if we were given at least 8 maybe 10 gems when we finish a chapter of a story we would not have to wait so long before your able to make good decisions. Also one more thing if you don’t put the (make a good decision gems) so high because with it being so high and not getting enough gems you have to pick a choice that you never wanted to pick and possibly not have the best story. So if you could lower the good decision gem amount not so high so that if your a beginner you can still enjoy making good ones and ones that are unexpected. So that you. But other then that it has good story’s so far.

Episode - Choose Your Story A Shallow, Cliché Illusion of Choice

Like most people who download this app, I just want to project onto the characters in these stories—create and live out a fantasy. Unfortunately, I’ve found that these sorts of apps aren’t a healthy form of escapism. Especially in the romance department.

The stories in this app flaunt unrealistic, distorted takes on “love” and play upon dull, inmemorable, character tropes and clichés. There’s rarely a hint of originality. It’s the antithesis of authenticity and insight. It’s especially dangerous to children who, in their open-mindedness, are vulnerable to these harmful ideas. I wouldn’t want to base myself or my expectations off of these stories. I hope that whoever uses this app doesn’t let its poisonous messages take root.

Also, doesn’t the main allure of this app revolve around choice? I applaud the creators’ options for customizable diversity (whether it be ethnic, sexual, gender, etc.), but there’s no true choice in this app. Unless you pay, of course. Plus, no matter what options you choose, the outcome of each story pretty much remains the same:

Everyone’s attracted to you.
Hooray!
Your “hottest person you’ve ever seen” romantic interest loves you.
Hooray!
Turns out the love of your life is a Billionaire (look out Bill Gates ).
Hooray!
The End.

Anyways, while the core and substance of these stories aren’t too great, I did want to say I was pleasantly surprised by the little animations, sound effects, and interactive “text messaging” that some of the games have. I used to use this app a lot in middle school, and I’ve gotta say: After being back for just a day, I’ve definitely seen some positive improvements since then.

But otherwise, I’d be careful using this app.

Episode - Choose Your Story Passes, ads, story ratings needed, extend story genre browsing

I enjoy this app for what it is. However, if I have ever gotten passes that have regenerated, I am unawares of it. Every chapter after the first requires a pass to read. For me, I care less about the gems thing, though it should never impact the storyline, as there’s not logistically any real way to earn gems at a rate greater than loss from stories that grant them.

The double ads at the beginning of each chapter are incredibly grating. Given that any user effectively must spend money to both read each story and to have the more desirable choices available to them, the inclusion of lengthy ads at such a high rate is offensive.

I have had a serious issue with wasting my passes (and thus, effectively, my money) on incredibly bad stories. I very strongly suggest the ability to rate stories. If a story consistently gets a rating below a certain level by a given percent of its readers, the readers should not be charged passes to read it. Same for stories that were never completed and have been abandoned for quite some time.

It is also very difficult to find stories that suit my interests. While there may be hundreds of stories (by way of example) that are fantasy genre, or horror genre, there are only some two dozen stories shown in the genre listings. You can find stories by going to the pages of authors you enjoy, and by searching for key words, but that’s pretty labor intensive. Though I recognize that Episode is trying to funnel more readers towards the stories they have written, for example, I am not a Demi Lovato fan. I have zero interest in all of those stories. I would much rather prefer all the different genres had many clickable sub genres that would list a plethora of options, which could be filtered by complete/ongoing and (as suggested) reader rating. Example: under horror/thriller, there could be: slasher, monsters, vampires, ghosts, angels and demons, suspense, survival, dark/horror comedy, etc.

Episode - Choose Your Story Listen to your customers

So, this game is really fun and has cute stories and i WOULD like it… BUT (read this carefully)

the diamonds. they are horrible. this game is absolutely not interactive at all, because to make a real choice, you have to use between 19-29 diamonds and they are SO HARD to get. after one chapter you get ONE PUNY DIAMOND. how are you supposed to afford anything with that kind of allowance. when you are not able to make your own decisions to tell your guy that you like him, it makes it not interactive and the story doesn’t go the way you want to choose because you can’t afford to do that. also in some of the stories you ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT succeed and marry the boy if you don’t spend diamonds. and when you are not able to say nice things to people because it costs money, everyone gets mad at your character and your boy and friends and parents and teachers won’t like her anymore. i WANT to tell my guy i like him, and sometimes i want to say no, so please let me make my own decisions. this is absolutely ridiculous that i have to spend actual money to make a game fun. the developers should make this game fun and accessible to everyone. IT IS NOT FUN FOR PEOPLE THIS WAY. I THINK I AM SPEAKING FOR EVERYONE. also you have to pay diamonds for clothes, and if you don’t, people get disappointed in your character, and you have to wear a stained shirt and skinny jeans to a ball. this is absolutely ridiculous and might delete this game because of it.

i understand that you need to make money, but maybe you should make the game cost money on the appstore, or PUT ADS IN or use real money to buy outfits that can go to whatever story or like more passes or something but NOT FOR THE CHOICES because THIS IS AN I.N.T.E.R.A.C.T.I.V.E. GAME. or at least that’s what they claim and what it should be.

in conclusion, almost every other review that i read mentions something about how expensive and horrible the diamond process and pricing is, so i know i’m speaking for everybody when i say that maybe the developers should read their reviews and take them into consideration and ERADICATE THE DIAMONDS FROM CHOICES or use any of the many other suggestions i said

thank you for your time, and lease do not make me delete this app because of the ridiculousness and just get rid of the diamonds. thank you.

Episode - Choose Your Story Awful

This app is completely awful. I’ll watch an ad and then the next ad freezes causing me to force close the app and once it’s force closed then i have to watch 2 more ads again totaling to 3 ads and sometimes even after force closing it it still freezes causing me to watch a total of 6 ads for no reason. Also, the pricing to earn germs/passes is crazy. 1500 gems for $100? that’s too much considering most episodes require 20+ gems in order to unlock something making it a total of what? 50 episodes that you can read and use 20 gems for. What happened to the referral codes? i use to constantly do that and before this update i had over 600 passes that we’re all GONE. To pretty much boil things down, you guys are pricey, there’s too many bugs, we shouldn’t have to wait 3-4 hours for only 4 passes. Let me elaborate on the waiting 3-4 hours. i delete this app every month after i’m done reading a book, why? because me waiting 3-4 hours for only 4 passes makes me not want to play. i get on episode 1x a month because it just changed and not for the better. My siblings and i absolutely ADORED (past tense) this game and now they don’t even play it because the books are bad or it doesn’t catch our interest. You guys should have a section for upcoming authors or for unknown authors who have published books, not just advertise those who’s books gotten a lot of views because i want to see the new characters , the updated characters, not the old characters. but that’s all... after i’m done reading this other book, i’m going to delete the app again. hope you guys can fix all these issues. or at least SOME of them. update: way to glitch. I will literally waste a pass to re-read the SAME episode! I try going forward but there is a glitch causing me to read the previous chapter again while taking my pass even though i read it. going to delete this app. i’ve had enough. update: I am TRULY done with episode. i’ve has to watch a total of 10 ads because episode keeps glitching and not playing the second ad. i’m done with it. update: officially deleted the app. won’t be on probably for a month or forever . The fact that I watch 2 ads and then the screen freezes and I have to watch 4-6 ads in total is unbelievable. fix this. until then the app is officially deleted. UPDATE: TAKE OFF THE FAMILY GUY AD! IT STAYS MESSING UP THE STORY! IT FREEZES THE AD CAUSING ME TO RESTART THE ADS AND WATCH MORE THAN 2 ADS BC IT GLITCHES! update : i’ve officially deleted the app, the app is boring & doll. every story has the same plot which gets tiring. plus all of the issues that i’ve complained about before haven’t met my needs at all. Update: The music hardly works. Every time I read a new story the music doesn’t even play. It plays for a split second then stops. Episode do better.
