Its interesting to find out that Kathryn Merritt is not in Prison for Scamming millions of dollars from people nation wide, but yet she has created a new SCAM here in UTAH ...DEAL THAT MATTER.
Leave it to Kathryn Merritt to find the new hot trend, launch a new company using others money, and put a unique Charity Twist on her sales pitch to make her Appear more sincere!
She did the same crap when I worked for her at ACENTUS & Smith & Merritt, she stole money from my family by telling the company was going public and that i should buy stock, she created a fake charity that we as employees could donate too, no doubt another way to steal our money, and then she stopped paying her employees. First the checks came late thats he first sign of trouble, then they just never came...THIS WOMAN IS A MASTER MANIPULATOR, BUT EVIL TO THE CORE! She will always take care of herself, lie cheat and steal to do so. Stay away from this company as it has bad news written all over it with KAT Merritt at the helm. Check out the BS Video on here as it shows the CON ARTIST in Action!

Lol, I was a contractor for CityDeals for a few weeks during the time when they were having so many issues paying their merchants and such. It was a shame, they were genuinely trying to come up with the money to pay people but were hitting wall after wall after wall. Merchants just started lying to get money...that was the most shocking. That window cleaning guy in the news that claimed they owned him $20K or something, that was so outragiously false I can't even fathom the words. It turns out that the CityDeals execs thought it would be a good idea to "merge" with Deals That Matter. They went through the proceedings, talks and negotiations with the owners of the company. Finally came to an agreement and the day it was to happen, we turned out DB over to Deals That Matter, the owner then took the site down and basically told everyone at CityDeals they didn't have jobs any longer. I didn't care though, I was only supposed to be there for a few weeks. The kicker...this Deals That Matter guy then decided to turn around and refuse the deal... after he went through with it. he left City Deals is even more shambles than it was before the deal. Best of all, he stole the City Deals database of customers. Turns out, we all speculated that was his intention in the first place. Destroy the company, steal its assets and get out. He did all of this and then tried to point the finger at CityDeals claiming it was their fault for the whole screwup. Funny times those were. It's good to see this scam of a company is gone...so it appears to be at least.

I worked for Acentus in 2007 and Katherine Merritt. They never paid me the first pay check and one morning I came to work and the whole place was a ghost town! The computers were gone and the employees were standing around wondering what the hell happened. So I filed a wage claim with the labor department and they issued a judgment for her to pay me $5, 100.00 subject to interest at a legal rate. That was in 02/2007 and I have never seen a dime of it! This was at a time when my family seriously needed that money. I called and called the company College Partnership, which was who they said "merged" with Acentus at the time. I was told the money would be paid and then they stopped taking my calls. I spent hours of my time trying to get paid the money they owed me. I spent my own money to file court paperwork and wrote letters to lawyers in Utah for help but no one could help me. Even with a judgment! How is this possible? Anyway, that's my story. Never got paid. I'm sure I never will and I really don't see how this woman is still not in JAIL! I believe what goes around comes around so she will pay one way or the other some day.

It looks like "Cat" Catherine Merritt is at it again. This time it's called, INFLUENT FINANCIAL GROUP. Don't know anything about INFLUENT, but I heard the name Catherine Merritt and I ran the other way. I hope no one gets burned by this company, like so many others have done with the other ventures that she has conned. Sounds to me like fraud all the way (my opinion).

Look at the dates here. This is very telling with the current climate of the whole chaos of City Deals merging with Deals that Matter, getting shoved out & closing the company as well as refusing to pay merchants who are now screwing over the customers. Everyone was warned but you shot the messenger ...I can't say I feel bad for any of you if you just lost hundreds of dollars because you ran your mouth off at the person who called this would end badly. Sometimes silence is truly golden

So the thing that I see in this post series is a former employee, from a completely different company I might add, who felt like they got a bad deal from a decision they made (through no fault of anyone's but their own) and a "current" employee who seems bitter and maligned (if you don't feel like you'll be paid, the best thing would be to leave) who are trying to relate their horrible attitudes to a company that has donated over $101, 000 (as of today) to charities and causes. Sound right? No, I don't think it does either. The problem that I have with these complaint boards is that everything is done behind the curtain and veil of secrecy. If you were really someone who had a beef that made sense you'd fight it in a more effective way. Taking cheap shots at someone on the internet shows cowardice and immaturity. Not to mention that everything that is said in these negative posts are things where the responsibility of what is happening falls solely and squarely on the shoulders of the people making the claims. There will be a time in your life where you will realize that you will need to grow up, man up or do whatever it takes to own your life, not let excuses and petty complaints run them.

I've worked at Deals That Matter since May of this year and have to say that if you work there you are challenged everyday to work your hardest and to perform above the level of even your own expectations. Yet, at the end of the day, it is a startup company that is run by a brilliant management team and as you come on board there they do not sugar coat the situation that you are accepting to be a part of. The thing about life is that for hard work and perseverance there is great reward but only a handful of people will sacrifice today for a huge reward tomorrow. Kat and her staff make no bones about this when you are in the interviewing process. They make no bones about it when you are hired on and are working there and they make no bones about it when you're not doing your job and failing to live up to the expectations that have been set. The team that works there today is comprised of people that have integrity, hope, resiliency and are able to step up to the challenge each and every day to put forth the effort required to be successful and in turn, make deals that matter the best daily deal company on the planet.

I have no patience for people who come to the internet to play cloak and dagger games while jabbing knives at the people in this world that are truly remarkable. I hope that you feel a lot of shame for taking someone's reputation into your own hands and trying to make it something that it's not. I also hope that you realize that you will be miserable until the day you figure out that you can control your life and make decisions that will have a positive outcome on your life. Until then, try to keep your monkey with you, don't try and unload it on people who have no idea what you're talking about just so you can try and make someone look bad to make yourself "feel" better.

Deals That Matter is a great company to work for and do business with, I would encourage any of you that are reading this to give them a call or try them out and see what a great experience it is and what a difference the company can make in a community by giving back to the things that really do matter. Now that my soap box has ended, I hope you have a great day and learn that you can make decisions for yourself today, choose wisely.

DealsThatMatter is a fantastic company and I feel honored to be a part of this fantastic team. It is sad that a disgruntled employee who could not cut it here had to post erroneous lies to make himself/herself feel better about their lack of production. We have a very solid company doing great things and have raised over $100, 000 for various Causes and Charities in a very short period of time. Kat Parker-Merrit is an outstanding Sales Manager who brings out the best in all of us. I feel privileged to have this opportunity to work with and for her. Like the above post mentions, Do Not allow this mis-information to sway you. If you have questions, just call or stop by and someone will be happy to assist you. DealsThatMatter is here to stay and here to do great things.

Spencey1001,

If you currently work at Deals that matter, and the money isn't coming in, why don't you just leave? I'm assumming no one is forcing you to work there? I'm glad that someone from deals that matter came to their own defense. It shows they aren't in the wrong. Most compannies that are truly in ruins hide from postings like this. And, they said what I think we were all thinking...sounds like an ex employee who couldn't cut it. I get the daily e-mails and they've been great to me so I know better. Thanks.

To Jones217,

We have reason to believe that the following comments from spencey1001 are from an employee who has been let go. Knowing this is coming from a disgruntled former employee, I would take this information as a grain of salt. The company is in a very good place, and is growing. You mentioned you were looking to apply, and I would encourage you to do just that. This company is an amazing place to work, where producers are rewarded. Never has there been an opportunity to help more people and organizations than through DealsThatMatter. To date we have raised $101, 596 for different causes, schools, and charities. Don't allow this mis-information to sway you.

I currently work at Dealsthatmatter and the checks have stopped coming in on time. In fact they are quite far behind. Investor funding has dried up and the company lives on credit cards. They have just fired a ton of people. Kat Parker-Merritt is head of the sales division - officially - although one never really knows what kind of leverage she has insisted on. The jury is still out on this one. I will update as things "progress". It seems very clear that the daily deals business model is headed for a huge shake down and only the very strongest will survive. Dealsthatmatter is not strong at all. Time will tell.

Kathryn Merritt is not a creator, owner, investor, or founder of DealsThatMatter. Simply put, DealsThatMatter is not her company. I know the owners, and I know every member of the board. None of them include Kathryn Merritt. Please do not disparage DealsThatMatter for someone that is not involved as portrayed above. DealsThatMatter is a wonderful company that has raised quite a bit of money for local causes, and has done a lot of good in the community.
It is very clear that whoever wrote the above posting has an axe to grind with her, but does not have correct information about her or the company.
