I shipped a letter on on November 12, 2009 using a flat-rate Priority Mail envelope with delivery confirmation from Staten Island to WI. Today is 25 November. The last available information is that this letter left the facility in Jersey City, NJ on November 16. I made 4 complains so far to the USPS customer service. I wonder if this department is alive.
For the period of time May 2009 - November 2009 I sent five priority mail letters. On of them went to the destination in 18 days. This is the second time. Conclusion: USPS provides 40 % worst service. They only want a price increase which is always granted.
To complain from them to them does not make them accountable. This is wasting of time.
This procedure must be changed. You pay, they don't care, they will not return your money back because they have this rule.
Amazing.

The best thing I could tell you is contact the Postal Inspect or call the closest mail recovery center. If it has been more than 90 days you might can kiss your valuables (if you mailed them) good bye, because they put those things on the auction block, if no one claims them .

I mailed a priority package from Folsom, California to Amarillo, Texas on December 18, 2013. It arrived in Sacramento, 30 miles away, the same day and remained there from December 18, 2013 until December 26, 2013 when it finally made it to Amarillo. The Christmas package which was suppose to be delivered December 21, 2013 was not delivered until December 26. Why was the package held in West Sacramento for 8 days? There is no way it takes 8 days for a package to be sorted, processed and shipped and there is no excuse for lousy service. The Post Office asks for price increases and they are always granted. As a consumer all I ask for is efficient competent service. The Post Office is guilty of false advertisement and if it cannot deliver as promised they should fully reimburse consumers.

Exact same thing has happened to me twice so far. Currently I have a legal document I sent on Monday from the Lakewood CO Station certified and 2 day priority mail. It never left the post office until the day it was guaranteed to arrive, the following Wednesday. Was sent to the wrong post office (per my going to the Lakewood Office and spending 1.5 hours tracking down). Currently the legal letter sits in the Baltimore post office and is undeliverable until the following Tuesday because Monday is a holiday! I have filed a complaint with the postal service, totally worthless. I will never use priority mail ever again, nor the Lakewood post office when I need to send any important or urgent mail (NEVER AGAIN)! Priority mail is the biggest joke and scam the postal service has pulled on the public. Not to mention that this agency "should go under" as they continue to prove over and over again their lack of concern for their customers as well as their incredible inability to perform the simplest of tasks! No wonder they are in trouble! They are worthless scam artists...
