I am so glad I checked out this company online. I have an "interview" schedulded with the AI in Charlotte NC with Jim Logan this Thurs 01/29/09. I thought something was odd about all of this too. I really need a job just as much as everyone else who is looking but there is no way no how that I will go to that interview. I think it is a shame for them to get a persons hopes up for a job. Hang in there my fellow job seekers and know you are not alone in your search.

I don't know if this is a scam or a pyramid scheme...but my dealings with them have shown me that they are very unethical in their dealings with prospective agents. They told me when inviting me back for a third interview to bring a credit card or my checkbook. I did and am sorry now that I did. They charged me for a license test fee and fingerprinting. I never took the test and informed them of changing my mind well enough in advance to cancel my test appt and I paid separately for my fingerprinting. Linda, ( who would not reveal her last name) said all was non-refundable. How can I be charged for something I did not take and how can I pay twice for something. BEWARE

I'm so glad I found this site. I, too, have been contacted in exactly the same way and will not interview now. Thank you all for the information.

Well, I wish that I had thought to research the company further BEFORE I went to the stupid interview. I did view their website, but only briefly. If I had looked further, I would have saved myself the trouble.

The script reading is real! And in the interview, when I said that I didn't want to SELL anything they try to bend what they do as not sales! My interviewer looked like he was on dope and said that I was one of the select people that was being brought back for a second interview (to which I never showed up). I worked for a bunch of scam artists like this back in 2002. The feds shut that company down, and someone needs to shut AIL down too!

Thank you everyone for posting about this potential scam opportunity. I was contacted earlier this week for an interview over an hour away from my home. I didn't remember applying for any jobs in that area and was confused how they got my information. I was told to bring a note pad and pen, that the interview would be a couple of hours and that I would be meeting with several managers. Turns out that is only a scam too. I have no interest in a potential "sales" position. I'll leave the bloodsucking to those who find it appealing.

Yes, I'm glad I researched on the internet about AIL. The same thing happened to me. They saw my resume on careerbuilder, and sent me several emails. None of which I replied to, of course. And couple days ago, an "HR rep" actually called me and asked some screening questions over the phone, and scheduled for an interview. I didnt remember applying to AIL, so I asked what the position was for, and she told me part-time, full-time sales, and manager positions. I said okay, I'm not really look for sales positions. And she lured me by saying there' are no cold-calling and door-to-door sales. And after the phone interview, she promptly set up an interview.

And when I got the email confirmation, I thought it odd that they'd tell me to bring a copy of your resume (if they already saw my resume, they should have it on file), and to dress professionally (why wouldn't we know to dress professionally?).

I've also been contacted by another life insurance companies like this (I don't recall the name . . .something casualty? i dunno, it was about six months ago). They were also very aggressive and pursued me, and their pitch was "do you wanna make a lotta money?" I never went to their interview either.

I'm a recent college graduate, desperate for a job, but I feel these types of jobs are not even worth the time, not even to gain some "interview" prep experience.

To NeedJobNow,

You're absolutely right. It is not even worth your time to interview with these assholes. There would be no "experience" that you could gain from it. If you were to show up, I would guarantee that you would be the most professional one there. Good luck in your job search.
