California Casualty DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CALIFORNIA CASUALITY COMPANY

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CALIFORNIA CASUALITY COMPANY. IT IS A SCAM TO GET YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION! I also requested a quote and when I got a call from California Casualty, they asked me for my birthdate, which would be not be required by any other insurance company to obtain a quote. When I refused to offer my Birthdate, they agent hung up.

I'll let you be the judge. I have been a loyal customer of California Casualty for 24 years thinking that it was the lowest cost insurance coverage that was offered to the Teachers in Oregon State (my wife being a teacher). I trusted them and i requested policy reviews on a regular basis thinking that I was getting good coverage at a reasonable cost.. But seven years ago my wife and I moved to Georgia and more recently Florida to retire. At that time my insurance increased to over $1800 per year for coverage and started to increase above $1900 per year. I called the company and asked the company how much I could save yearly. The most I could save was $172 per year and that was by reducing my policy coverage to an absolute minimum. I started to get suspicious so I called State Farm to get a quote and they were able to pull up my policy coverage from California Casualty. And they offered me the same coverage I was getting from California Casualty with a few very minor changes for $543 per year. I was shocked at the savings and started to feel ripped off by California Casualty. I felt stupid for not checking the market price of my policy with other companies years ago. To get the same coverage for 25% of the cost I was paying for California Casualty made me feel betrayed. At present I don't trust California Casualty and I want to encourage everyone to shop around on a regular bases. Something has changed with California Casualty over the years and at this date I would not recommend the company for any auto insurance. My trust for them has totally evaporated. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Like a few other reviewers, we also received a letter with an offer for a 25$ Amazon gift card. We called and the person who helped us was at first professional and helpful. The quote that was offered was much better than what we are paying currently. However, we had some reservations as it seemed too good to be true. We wanted to talk it over and compare the rates and coverages between our current policy and the one from CC. When we said this, the person became very defensive and didn't like that we were not ready to commit. He tried to convenience us to sign up even with our reservations. We once again said that we wanted to talk about it later and get back to him at the end of the day. The person said, I understand, have a great day. Then hung up. I don't know why he was offended by us wanting to discuss it and then hanging up right away. There was no chance to mention the gift card either. Disapoiting and not professional

Worst insurance company I've dealt with. I learned about CalCas through the NEA and joined in 2019. The cost was the same as I was paying for the same coverage through Geico, but I chose to switch since they supported our union and offered an Amazon gift card for getting a quote (I never received the gift card, of course.) In the summer of 2021 when I backed into a parked car in a parking lot at very low speed, causing a tiny scratch that the owner of the car did not even notice until I pointed it out. I played phone tag with the agent for weeks after the incident, as he kept calling me during school hours (I had told him my available hours in a voicemail) and he never answered during the times his voicemail said he was available. About a month later, I received a letter saying I had been dropped due to the incident. After I set up a policy again with Geico, I received a letter saying my policy would renew in a few days, causing me to have to spend more time on the phone with them to sort out whether I was actually dropped and make sure I wouldn't be charged. I paid thousands of dollars to CalCas during my time as their customer, but as soon as they had to pay for a tiny scratch, I was dropped. I only wish I had read the reviews before. Protecting American Heroes? More like taking their money and kicking them to the curb as soon as they need a penny back.

California Casualty Signing up for insurance with this company and dealing with them has been a more difficult and frustrating process than dealing with any other

Signing up for insurance with this company and dealing with them has been a more difficult and frustrating process than dealing with any other insurance company I've dealt with and even ***, and *** is the worst. There was a misunderstanding about when my homeowner's insurance started due to insufficient communication. That misunderstanding is currently costing me about $150 in duplicate coverage charges. After close to two hours on the phone with them, they've ceded a little more than half of that, admitting that there was some ambiguity given that it took eight weeks after the apparent "start of coverage" for any policy information to be sent to me. Of course that policy information was sent by mail without notice or without any other communication, so my lack of understanding persisted until now, when finally a human explained to me the complicated circumstances, six weeks after the fact. They admit insufficient explanation and communication, but nonetheless are satisfied with providing me the minimum "legal notification". They refuse to take responsibility for my misunderstanding of the policy's start date, despite being a new customer experiencing a complicated situation. Based on my experience to date, they are far more concerned with fulfilling minimum legal requirements than taking care of their customers.

California Casualty After a terrible onboarding experience, I still signed up for the service

After a terrible onboarding experience, I still signed up for the service. California Casualty gave me a price and I started the policy. Then a couple weeks into it, they decided that I used my car for business. They didn't call to ask me about my photography side gig which is mostly headshots in my home studio. There was zero reason for them to raise that rate and they didn't even bother to ask. I just got a letter and an email. I feel like it was bait and switch.

My wife and I purchased our first home in March . Because the property is in a flood plain, we were required to purchase flood insurance. At that time we were getting homeowner's insurance through California Casualty, so we called them to get the flood insurance as well. (We have since changed the homeowner's to Allstate because they offered a better policy for a better price.) The agent at California Casualty set us up with a flood insurance policy that they claimed to be sufficient for our needs. In the summer of 2019, we began getting letters from the mortgage lender saying that the flood insurance policy was insufficient. We called California Casualty to get them to adjust the policy to meet the lender's requirements, but they were either unable or unwilling to make the required changes. So we were forced to go shopping for another flood insurance policy. We ended up obtaining one from Allstate that met all of the lender's requirements, but we had to pay out of pocket because escrow had already paid for one flood insurance policy. We then contacted California Casualty to cancel the insufficient and now unnecessary policy. They claimed that it was impossible to cancel in the middle of a term, and we should just wait until the end of the term for it to cancel itself when it wasn't renewed. We didn't tell them to renew it at the end of that year, but they sent a bill to the lender and it was paid out of escrow without our immediate knowledge. That happened twice, in March and now March . Each time the person we talked to at California Casualty insists that it is impossible to cancel the policy, that we must either wait for it to expire or instead cancel the Allstate policy. California Casualty is seeming to be trying to force us to continue doing business with them against our wishes. We have the right to choose what company we buy insurance from.

This company has been double charging us for months. Everytime We call we are assured of a resolution and repayment of our money. However we will then wait for refund instead receive bills in the mail. When we call we are on three hour waits. After we speak with the first person they assure us that we have been correctly charged despite the double charge showing up to our account and the previous submission of false charges. We have to escalate to management- they say they will correct. They do not and we are signed up for another month according to the bill. Despite canceling months ago. We are owed hundreds of dollars. During the pandemic this company refused to follow California law and refund the money for premiums when we were in lockdown. We were told government that this was against the law. We were told by the company that they were somehow given exemption. Again California says they did not receive any exception.

California Casualty I contacted the business on 5/25, on behalf of my mom (policyholder) who recently passed

I contacted the business on 5/25, on behalf of my mom (policyholder) who recently passed. I received two different letters stating she owed $65.33 and $75.33. I spoke with McKenna who said I could pay $65.33 and that would pay my mom's account in full. On 6/14, CA Casualty mailed an invoice for $117.34, and I spoke with Sahra about this. Sahra said that she could waive the late payment fee, but I would owe $107.34. I asked her why am I expected to pay almost double the amount now, especially given the fact my mom was dying of cancer, and was unable to drive since early 2020. Additionally, I was shocked I was expected to pay this balance since this was my mom's policy and I was not on this policy, nor the owner of her vehicle. Sahra really seemed unsympathetic and said that if I didn't pay then my mom's credit would go into collections. I explained to Sahra that I quit my job in 2018 to care for my mom, and I don't have money. I was forced to pay $107.34 by this company.

California Casualty This insurance company is refusing to fix my roof while it is covered under my policy

This insurance company is refusing to fix my roof while it is covered under my policy. My policy they are stating does not cover normal maintenance and the roof leaked after a weeks worth of storms and wind. Upon inspection there were tiles out of place and flashing out of place. This is due to inclement weather and not negligence . The weather was so bad my pool overflowed twice and the wind was so bad several items in my yard were knocked over repeatedly. The roof has not leaked prior to this even with other storms in the area and it is quite clear those items were moved with wind and rain damage. It took them several days to get out to us and everything was dry making it seem that the problem has corrected itself and not needing any further repairs. As soon as it rains again my roof will leak and we will be experiencing more damage to our home while we are waiting for our insurance company to do the right thing. There are several other complaints of similar nature with this company and they have a track record of not honoring their contracts.

California Casualty I was involved with a minor fender-bender in a grocery store parking lot for which I was not at fault on January 4

I was involved with a minor fender-bender in a grocery store parking lot for which I was not at fault on January 4. That same day, I contacted the other driver's insurance company, California Casualty, to file a claim. The following week I was contacted by California Casualty and gave a formal deposition. Approximately one week later I received a letter from California Casualty stating they were investigating the claim and that it could take up to 30 days. No one has contacted me since. I called on February 10th and was told I needed to email California Casualty photos of the damage done to my vehicle and an estimate for repairs. I emailed the requested items on February 18 and received an email back stating it would take 3 days to process the information and I would be contacted following the processing. I was never contacted again. I have received no letter, no email, and no phone calls regarding my claim. I have not received payment for the damages. It in now March 5, a full two months since the accident. I have left three voice messages and still, no response.

I canceled my auto and renters insurance policy on October 19 via the company's online messaging portal with the following message: "We need to cancel our auto policies and renters policy as we are moving out of state. Our final date for coverage will be November 6." I called a week later as I had not received any information. I finalized the cancelation and paid an additional fee to cover the 6 extra days of auto insurance for November. I received a letter in the mail confirming the cancelation but they had the wrong cancellation date. I called back to discuss this and the agent suggested I alter my coverage dates with the new carrier which I agreed to. I later learned this agent re-instated the policy so I called a third time to verify our policy was canceled and I was assured it now was. This evening I checked my online banking portal to see an automatic payment withdraw for both the renters and auto policy on November 30. I have been on hold to cancel (this is now my 4th phone call and 5th total communication attempt to cancel tis policy). This is completely unacceptable.

California Casualty I've had extreme difficulty communicating with this company they sent me a letter in the mail stating that they are canceling my homeowners

I've had extreme difficulty communicating with this company they sent me a letter in the mail stating that they are canceling my homeowners insurance on 6/11,which has already been prepaid for a year. Reason number (1) for cancellation is due to propane tank located within 30 ft of structure. This is incorrect information my propane tank is located more than 30 feet away from the structure. Reason (2) the year-round water source that is used to service our home by responding fire department is unacceptable and does not meet our acceptability guidelines. This information is false California casualty hired a subcontract company to come out and do a home inspection California casualty emailed several weeks later stating that they did not have a outside home inspection which leaves me under the impression they lost the inspection or had issues with their sub contracted company that came to my home and did a full outside home inspection and entered it into their system. In that report it states that there is a nearby fire hydrant which is sufficient. I also have a 2500 gallon water tank that sits on my property for drinking water purposes it is plenty sufficient for firefighting purposes and it is always full. I've made many attempts by phone an email to resolve this issue none of them is working.
