The phone number I called to report my false charge is [protected]. In April I purchased three months as a birthday gift for my friend. I did not know if she wanted to continue so I turned off the auto renewal. Well I just got another charge for $59.97. I called the customer " no" service number above. First I spoke to a rep and she said although it was my credit card she could not help because it was in my friend's name. She said she could not put us on a three way call. Must be to technical for company. I asked several times to speak to a manager and was told there was none...what? She actually hung up on me. I called back, got another rep. This time I called as my friend, since the first person said that's who she needed to talk too. He told me he needed to talk to the card holder. Again I asked several times for a manager, I guess they do not exist. Again unable to receive any help. I'm sure there are more people like us. I will continue my research and see what can be done! If nothing else we can tell every possible outlet about our own stories with match. Social media rules!

I am furious at Match for the on going charges on my bank account since 2012 ! I only noticed the charges when I started doing on line banking. I called customer service to voice my complaint and for them to remove my card charges. Which they did and gave me a refund for 1 month of 35.99 out of being charged for over 3 years, I am floored at Match and want to take legal action to stop ripping off customers who have already cancelled accounts.
Any one wants to jump on the Band Wagon, let join forces to bring legal action.
Who ever has legal experience or ideas on how fight this company, please contact me.

I stumbled across this website just yesterday, and created my profile. And just minutes ago I signed up when I saw that for 6 months they charge some $5. But in fact, they charged me $35. I've been ripped off and this is extremely unfair. I just unsubscribed but did not get a refund or anything. I could not find a phone number there to call them up and ask for a refund. Is there any way I can file a lawsuit and get my refund? I am from India so I don't know how to go about this. Can someone help?

taking money out of my acount unauthorized as i canciled my subscripsion amonth ago with them.

They put the wrong person's picture to my profile and are refusing to refund the money they so happily charged me. The lady in the attached picture isn't me, looks nothing like me, and I think the whole thing is a SCAM!

I closed my account with Match.com almost 3 years ago (after I met my wife) and asked that they remove my profile.
They have not removed it and it still appears active even though I have not logged-in for years. However, women are still trying to contact me through them (or so they claim in emails they keep sending me). These women must feel bad because it would appear to them that I ignore/reject them. But the fact is that I cannot see nor respond to them without paying Match.com...
My wife does not appreciate having my profile and photo on Match.com. Nor do I, and I am sure that the women who are fooled by it do not appreciate it either.

By keeping my profile active against my will they make it seem that they have more selection than they actually do. This is fraud.

Attempts to contact them to remove the profile were ignored repeatedly.

I just got back from the Kirkland police department, assisting a friend in filing a report after being scammed over 65k from a "match" that she made on this site in November (2009).
The guy claimed that he is from a nearby city in Nigeria on business. He spent a month before his "business trip" luring the lonely woman in & when the "trip" took place, all sorts of "bad things" befell him. This included an international credit card that supposedly did not work, an auto accident that required paid medical expenses, & need of a laptop to be shipped to him.
Her life savings is gone, & there is about 20k worth of cash advances for her to pay.
Match.com offers no easy way to contact them to report this in a timely manner. The information is needed immediatly to get the secret service on track, but no luck there.

I know this guy by the name of MORIS WILLIAMS, who claims his wife passed away 5 years ago, while give birth to his second child and he has one son who is 11 years old. He claims he has one fashion shop in UK, Stratford - MOWILL FASHION SHOP. And having two cars. He emailed me from match.com. and from there we chatted at yahoo or msn.
He always claims his webcam spoilt and cannot let me see his face, but he always send me some modellish photos that i do doubt he the person.
He is holding an UK line that starts with +4470, that i later found out this is international call divert. But i have doubt on him. Still i give him chance to be friend.
Thing goes to peak when he said he is bring his son to Benin, Nigeria to get his goods. That i feel so weird. Then after that, he was involved in a robbery that he and his son lost his passport. But somehow he managed to clear that and go back to UK.
But since then his UK line always has nigerian song ring tone, that really trigger my doubts to him. But i remain silent.
Two weeks ago, he told me that he has to go back to benin to get his container back to UK. The day of his departure from benin back to Lagos, he still tell me that he is still one hour away from Lagos. Then there is totally no news about him.
I tried to call him, both his nigeria and UK line -but it does not get through, until few days ago. Someone claims that he is being kidnapped. And only let Moris talk 2 sentences to me. And tell me to pay ransom. Of course, I didn't do so. But I email to UK high comm. In Nigeria. And I also file a request to nigeria Police.
I hereby alert all the girls on this. Attached is how the fraud people using this pretty photos to cheat.
And just be aware, this fraud fellow does not able to differentiate live and leave, this is his typical typo. So when he mimic his son, his son has the same typo. And he will tell his dad is italian, he worked in greece as construction supervisor, then he is now taking over his dad shop in UK. And he is quite good in dress designing...very interesting story line...but be aware, they are asking for money, the ransom they ask me to pay is 20k usd! Then interesting part, is they din call for ransom, they wait you to call to ask for ransom from you...
And MORIS's birthday is 11 dec. And he claims he stays at 42 lympslone garden, peckham, stratford.

I man I met on match.com in mid January is part of an on line dating fraud. His name posted is Caleb Smith from Newtown, PA He told me he was on business in Ghana West Africa and would be back in the states in 3 week.s
We were emailing everyday almost. He appeared to be sincere and charming. He had lost his luggage on his
flight so he ordered some clothes from Dillards in CA and asked me to send them to him after he had them sent to my home address. Unfortunately I did do that. now he is telling me he had to have emergency surgery there
and asked me to wire him $1000.00 for his hospital bill and medication. My story is very similar to other fraud stories I have read on line.

If you believe that the company has defrauded you, you should consider all options including but not limited to retaining an attorney, whose practice is in consumer protection law. In most of these cases and depending on the attorney's practice, it is on a contingent basis.

Let me tell you something...I used Match.com about 3 years ago. No luck, I left. I came back January 2012 and cancelled my membership with at least a week to go in my membership. I was sent an email telling me no further money would be withdrawn and I had until February 6th to re-activate my account if I chose to. Now, just to make sure these people didn't try and debit my account, I made certain my membership was good and cancelled. I essentially cancelled it twice. February 6th I call my bank and see they took $35.99 and as a result of their unauthorized debit, I was popped $38.00 for insufficient funds. I called them immediately and told them they took money our without authorization and as a result, I had a negative balance. I was refunded the money but the customer service rep tried telling me the account was reactivated. In fact EVERYBODY there that I talked to thereafter tried to tell me that. I've been trying for over a month to talk to someone over at Match and all when I finally get a supervisor (I think) on the phone, she tells me they refunded my $35.99 'as a curtesy' and they had no way to refund my insufficient funds (are you reading this, Randa?). I flat out told her they took money out without authorization and they were thieves. She countered by saying they had no way to refund me the $38.00 (Ummm...yes, you do - it's called WRITING A CHECK!) I submitted copies of the emails to my bank with a complaint that I had an authorized debit and I hope my bank can get something from those third-rate zero's.

Its now a haven for scammers. There are more asian and african scammers there than real people.
I joined once and met someone and thought I would try it again. Big mistake.

While checking my credit card statement online, I found a charge for $37.29 to wmv*match.com [protected]. I googled the name and found that many complaints had been filed because of the same kind of charge. I called the number listed, and the company would only "help" if I gave them my credit card number (which I did not give). Thankfully, my credit card company said they would remove the charge and start an investigation into the matter.

If this company is a victim of this scam, too, maybe they need to do something to prevent damage to their name...if they are a part of the scam or refuse to make changes, I hope they go out of business!

I paid for a 6 month subscription with match.com, had a decent experience, but was waiting for my subscription to run out and to then try another site. Conveniently (for its bottom line if not public reputation) match.com did not send me a reminder or notice that my subscription had expired. Instead they just charged my credit card for $108 for another 6 month subscription. I was unhappy that they had automatically charged me, but stunned that when I called they wouldn't reverse the charge, or even reduce the amount to what it would cost for the month and a half that I had access to the account (access I wasn't interested in having). The customer service rep just kept saying "sorry, it's in our policies, " then his supervisor said the same things just much more argumentatively. She escalated the conflict, then passed me off to someone else who gave me a credit for about half the amount. I won't recommend match.com to anyone as their automatic charge and no refund "policy" seems underhanded and unfriendly to me.

Match.com should change its policy and practice with regard to aggressive revenue generation, and should process refunds without chewing out their customers and turning us into ambassadors for any other dating site but theirs.

Match.com is a bogus dating service. They never provide contact information or send emails to the people that you intend them for. In addition, they have a fake battery of "Russian women" who write to try to entice men to come back or write back after subscriptions are canceled. Recently I received two identical emails from different "women in Russia" so this is quite obviously a scam.

Match.com is a piece of garbage. I am an attractive man with an awesome sense of humor/personality, I sent over 1, 200 messages and couldn't get 1 date, the site posts fake model profiles that send you winks but when you reply not a single one responds. AVOID MATCH. COM LIKE THE PLAGUE. I paid for 6 months up front but deleted my account after 7 weeks.

Recently had a lovely female from Ghana became friend, and what do you know she want to move here and needs $$, She was friends for only a couple of days and sent me all sorts of risky pictures, even wanted me to send her a phone so we could talk, or a laptop. She even sent me a copy of her Passport.

I too have been attempted to be scammed by someone who posted fake profiles on match. Women profiles. Usually widowed, self employed, and currently out of the country on business. They will divert you to yahoo messenger and then develop a relationship. After a few days an emergency will develop where they are in need of money unexpectedly. One even sent me a very official looking flight Itinerary from Klm airlines. They only gave up trying to get money from me when I told them to send a supposed check they were going to forward me directly to my bank! they got spooked.
Wouldn't you know a couple of days later I hit another womans profile ran by the same scammers. Once again directed to yahoo messenger. once they recognized my username there all contact stopped. If you are on match be very careful!
I also believe there are tons of fake profiles there put up by match themselves. Over 110 emails sent out by me . got 2 real responses. One person with enough class to write back with a sincere decline. One who I did meet but swear was just a member who gets paid by match to meet members to bolster their success rates. This person admitted she was contacted by match for advertising. She kept acting interested but would never meet again, always an excuse, never a "I just don't wish to persue a relationship" but just the opposite. Even after being asked out right if she wished to meet anymore.. When I go to cancel they are going to say that I had a match and I broke it off.

All those in defending Match.com are wrong. There is no defense for their actions.. Theft by deception is theft by deception. This site exploits vulnerable people due to greed and it's wrong.
Period. I wasted about two years of my life (literally hundreds and hundreds of hours responding to fake profiles) and hundreds of dollars as well on this site. They are robbing people of their discretionary time-their precious quality free time off work that can never be gotten back. All the site did for me in 2 years is help me become a better writer.

I'm so glad to hear they will have their day in court. Sign me up. Send the higher-ups to prison where they belong. And this has nothing to do with being bitter about love. Nobody likes to be manipulated or stolen from. It's that simple.

I was targeted by a "man" who had a grudge against my ex-husband for courting his then girlfriend in 1989. He pursued me extensively and I admit said all of the right things. We went out on several dates after many phone conversations. It was all a set up to "get back" at my ex. We started to get intimate but something inside me called a halt to it. I later found out he left out of his bio he prefers men. To say I feel violated is an understatement. I have removed myself from Match.

Match.com, just like any other business with an IT/IS department has the ability to block IP addresses. They can view the IP address of everyone who subscribes and creates a profile. This isn't to be sneaky, but it can be used for the good of the website. I work in the IT department (not at Match) as a systems architect and this is basic 101 type stuff. Match has the ability to block the abusers from ever gaining access to their website again by blocking their IP address from gaining access to the Match mail/profile servers. However, Match doesn't do this. They allow the abusers to continually gain access again, even after Match does shut down their fake profiles. The abuser just creates a new profile again. Most of these fake profiles are trying to get your email address to get you to subscribe to their own porn websites. They will send an email to you (using the FREE 3-day trial on Match) asking for your email address, and afterwards they email you a link to their porn sites. Esentially, Match promotes this because they will not put blocks in place to prevent the repeat offenders from ever doing this again. If Match.com is reading this, please tell your IT department to fire to bozo's you have working there and hire a professional staff that knows how to clean up the crap that your current staff ignores.

I tried loggin into my account but could not. I was asked to send my mail address, i did but yet no reply.

This website had the worst customer service. This particular representive refused to change my profile acccording to my preferences (this is a free country!) and then when I asked him to close my account and pay me my balance membership, he closed my account and then says we cant refund you!
If you want to leave a feedback, there is no email, the representative asked me to mail the corporate office a printout!

This is a misleading bait to pay a membership fee and then get nothing in return. No class or truth and when they have no service for you they improvise or send pictures of people 20 years out of your request range and none of the qualities you ask for.

I am a very honest person and only ask the same in return. If I would get out in the public more I would not even have a reason to try these dating connections.

Don not waste your money on this site. Most likely the "success stories" were made up by their advertising agency. If you are thinking of joining, do not. Please, save your money and spend it on something worthwhile.

To my surprise match.com renewed my membership without my consent and charged my debit card $59.00 for 3 months of service that i didn't ask for. I was unhappy with service anyway and they said they wouldn't help me. I am writing to every web site and informing everyone that i know how horrible they are!

Spot on. Something's fishy over at Match.com. I suspect that most of the women I have contacted are not members as there is no designation for who is and who is not. At the risk of sounding arrogant, I believe I have what many women "are looking for" and I know statistically I should be getting more responses than I have. --Class action suit?

Match.com is not a scam. The matches you receive are based on the criteria that you have selected, whether it is one thing you have in common or everything you have in common. The site cannot help it if there is no one in your area with exactly the same qualities or beliefs.
