CVS - shorting meds & refills

My doctor wrote two Rx one for 20 tablets plus 6 refills one for 90 tabs 6 refills of a different med. When I go to pick it up the lady hands me a bottle for 20 tabs and 5 refills. I point out the discrepancy and say this script is for 6 refills, then they proceed to tell me that they feel 6 is too many refills, and the most they will give me is 5. "But that is not enough medicine." I tell them. The doctor wrote it for 6 refills so I would have enough medicine. Well, sorry, they say, the most they will do is five refills at a time. Then they hand me the other script for 90 tabs and 6 refills, and I point it out that this one has six refills even though you just said the most you would give me is 5 refills. Then they have a little pow wow and then proceed to tell me than when I run out early, to just call my doctor and have him reauthorize another refill! Um, hello?!? He DID authorize another refill that's why he wrote SIX refills on the prescription!

I am being scammed, and I have a strong suspicion that because the medicine in question is a controlled substance medication I think the behind the counter crew are playing fast and loose with the recordkeeping in order to score some pills.

Avoid this place at all costs. Poor customer service & shady business practices.

That is the law but the pharmacy should have explained that nicely to customer. I am a nurse and the cvs that I was filling prescriptions told me that I didn't have any refills and I called the dr myself and they said you should have had several refills and had them call them to the pharmacy and then the pharmacy said oh she does have 1 refill and the drs office told them well I should have had a lot more than one and he checked on the computer because they can see how many pills you have been given from the pharmacy he said I have been given no where close to how many refills I should have had. Then I was talking to someone else about it and they said the same thing happen to them and they had to have there doctors office call and cvs gave some kind of excuse about their computer and was very rude and mean . Their are people that cannot be without their medications and the cvs workers need to do their job or get a different one because their lack of actions / work is going cause someone's death. Cvs pharmacy workers YOU ARE NOT THERE TO JUDGE AND YOUR NOT A DOCTOR! SO GET A CLUE AND DO YOUR JOB WITH A SMILE AND MANNERS! What happened to " Treat others as you would like to be treated".

Actually a controlled substance can only be refilled 5 times without a new prescription being written. A control rx is only good for a total of 6 months, so the initial fill plus 5 refills. And that is mandated by the law.
