I got an auto loan with Capital One in 2005, I made payments on time as agreed and paid off the loan in full in 2011. After final payment Capital One mailed me the title to my car. 8 months later I pulled a credit report and discovered Capital One had not updated with the credit bureaus and showed my car loan as being 120 days past due and open. Total fraudulent reporting. I disputed and it was eventually removed from the credit report after several months but had caused me much distress and to be denied for credit elsewhere. Now it's another year later and I decided to sell my car. I signed the title over to the buyer and when the buyer went to register the car he could not because Capital One had a lien on the car with the DMV..still. I called Capital One demanding a Lien Release form for the DMV and they said they would process it but it would take 2-4 weeks. WHAT? They should have taken that lean off when the car was paid in full on 2011, yet would not rush the form even though it was their mistake. Consequently, I lost the buyer, the sale, and am now stuck with a title signed over to the buyer which is now no good, and a lien still on the car, and a BIG MESS. Thank You Capital One. Why is it when consumers default on their responsibility they must be held accountable, but yet Capital One can mess people's lives up with their incompetency and not do as they should and there's no recourse to the consumer. If there's ever a class action against Capital One - count me in. Livid in NC
