My husband and I were ALMOST scammed by Bluegreen resorts. We paid 20.00 (refundable) after we listened to their PROMISED 90-minute presentation on the company (SCAM). However, my husband and I ended up there 5 and a half hours. Needless to say we signed up for their sampler plan after not being able to afford the highly priced 25,000 plan they offered first... then, 13,000 plan... that was over our budget the next plan was 5,000 which was still too high... then them FINALLY offering us the sampler plan that was 1,000 more in our price range.

We sat down to sign the paperwork that basically finalized this scam. The woman explained the details that were completely (omitted) from the conversation with the sales rep. We quickly found out when speaking with this woman who was finalizing our plan that this one-year plan (sampler) was ACTUALLY only active for 10 months because you cannot book vacations for the first 40-60 days because it takes that long to get you in the system. Then we find out all holidays and June, July & August are out as well. People on the sampler plan cannot book during these dates. So in all reality there is only a small limited time (if any) that we would be able to use these points. The topping on the cake of this story was while going through these MAJOR details left out by the sales rep. my husband asks to talk to the sales manager. The manager tells him he can help us during those times we want to go in August. He then looks over the divider and makes sure no one else is in the room and says "I'm not suppose to do this but here is my cell phone number. Call me in 3 days and we will work out the details on dates etc. Well... we left signing up for this plan. As soon as we got out of there we instantly called and told Bluegreen we changed our mind. We looked over the paperwork and saw that we had EXACTLY 3 days to write a letter to the headquarters in Florida to CANCEL THE CONTRACT. The interesting thing here is that the manager said to wait 3 days so conveniently so that it would be TOO LATE to cancel. I'm glad we read the fine print and took action. Today, 2 weeks later Bluegreen credited our account the money they took 2 weeks ago. I hope this helps you if you read this in time.

Paul & Heather.

We were also taken by this fraud of a company. We have been saving our points (3000 a year) until we have enough to take our children to Oralndo. Now we find out we can not use our points there because they are the wrong color ( sounds racists to me) If I could find the lady that sold us this vacation I would like to have her explain to my children why we can go to Orlando because she lied to us.

Okay - I was just called the other day (within 3 days) to come listen to the 90-120 tour with the Orlando option and a free cruise later. After reading these reviews, I called the number I was given by the person and was able to get through immediately and spoke to someone who took my information and said my credit card would be refunded in 7 to 10 days if not sooner. So, I will wait and see if Vacation Tour and Travel does it's part and cancels this "deal" in a timely manner. The person I spoke to was polite, did not push me with my reasons, and now I will see if this is removed from my charge card.

If you try to book at 6months for prime time then yes you will find less availability but then again that is the same with and good hotel . Make your reservations at the 11 month out then you will get what you want. If you can not commit at 11 months then why did you buy a timeshare ?
And yet again you are so very misinformed all the points are backed by a deed which is held in trust by the BGVC and yese they do own enough units.
Please do not make statements that you can not back up

I agree that Bluegreen is a rip off. There sales tactics, half truths and professionaism should be investigated by the law in every state they operate out of. If you feel strongly enough about Bluegreen then write to the Better Business Bureau. If they get enough complaints things will happen. If you want to go farther then contact the Attorney Generals in the states they operate out of ( I am) and District Attorney of the county also. Bernie Madoff has nothing over Bluegreeen. They don't actually own enough units to provide the people they con with the vacation they are probably wishing for. Go online and try to book a vacation 6 months or more in advance during prime time. See how many are booked up. Try different states for the same time. Remember people, you need to send your complaints to the Better Business Bureau.

Bluegreen Resorts almost got us to. It's a good thing that I keep a close watch on my credit cards. My boyfriend and I went through 1 of their sales pitches for almost 3 hours. The program was in his name but of course they had mine too. After constantly telling them no, we finally got out of there. They did not have my credit card information from the program but somehow when I checked my credit card this morning I had a purchase of a timeshare on it. I immediately called my issuer about it. Both myself and the issuer called the number on the transaction, lo and behold it was disconnected. The issuer immediately started the dispute process for me. Hopefully it will be taken care of. Do Not sign up for anything that has the name Bluegreen associated with it, I also contacted the Bass Pro Shop where it was done.

I've been happy with my BlueGreen Timeshare until this year when they attached fees to roll over your points to the second year. They say it's to encourage people to use their points in the first year during High Red season. Now you have to pay $35 online or $50 on the phone to roll over your leftover points or lose them. Don't you enjoy paying twice for things? Anybody have any idea what I could do?

If you successfully rescinded your contract how did you do that? Did you simply send the form that accompanied your paperwork provided by Bluegreen to the offices in Boca Raton, FL?

Bluegreen will no longer even talk to us. Every now and then we get calls from a broker asking us if we would like to sell our property. When we tell them we thought BG had taken it back they say they show it still listed. I would LOVE to be able to sell the property but afraid BG would come back on us saying we don't own it and then there's a whole new legal mess we can't afford to be in. We still get updates and I still get emails from BG as if we were in good standing. Since they won't talk to us, we have no idea where we stand. I can't understand how they are still in business. To me, it's a good concept but we could NEVER get the destination or time we wanted. Once I started just throwing out random dates and places and before the operator had a chance to look up that place she automatically said, NO AVAILABILITY THAT WEEKEND! What a bunch of liars! Once they found out we couldn't afford to upgrade they walked out of the room leaving us sitting there! SCAM, SCAM, SCAM AND SCAM!

We just sat thru the BG presentation in Arizona. We were offered the 2 night 3 day pkg, plus the Bass Pro Shops gift cards. The resort does not want anyone checking in before 4pm, even when the room is ready. If you check out later than 10am, your credit card will be charged for that day. The presentation was not bad. We didn't really feel that pressured, and our salesperson was very likable. We did our research online before going in, so we were prepared and had decided not to purchase anything ahead of time. We said, NO, took the gift cards and left. We will never do any kind of timeshare presentation again as this was our first and last.

We signed up for BG 2 years ago and are very happy with them. We haven't had any problems booking vacations with them. We are thrilled to be heading to Myrtle Beach again in April and then heading to Hershey Park in June next year. The places we have stayed have all been beautiful and spacious...much nicer than a plain hotel room and they have a real kitchen with glasses, pots, pans etc. Seaglass Tower in Myrtle Beach was right on the beach (look out the window and see the ocean) and so nice for our honeymoon.

Pay attention to your salesperson and if it is something you can't afford then don't do it. Enjoy your freebies and walk away.

I sat for 95 minutes. The lady giving the presentation was a bit on the plump side but attractive. I kept looking at her and after the presentation she focused on me. I told her I needed to see a chalet before making a decision. She took me to a nereby cabin and started showing me around. The next thing I knew we were kissing and her ankles were in the air for about 15 minutes. Her name was Lisa. I enjoyed my presentation and my wife was happy with the free steak knives. No I am not a plant. Lisa was very convincing. I bought the sampler pack and hope to see her again.

Hello. I just want to say I have shopped various timshare companies through the years and always thought they were overpriced scams. My husband and I actually did finally buying into a timeshare, with BlueGreen, in December 2009. We bought a small 8, 000 points 'every other year' plan. So far, we have used it extensively. We've been to Gatlinburg, Daytona Beach (twice!) and will be going to Charleston next week . . . .another trip to Gatlinburg in September, and then again in December, and then the Wisconsin Dells in June 2011. Although we have a very limited number of points, we have been booking roughly half of our trips using what is called 'Bonus Time'. If you can travel within a 48 day window, which is the earliest time you can make a Bonus Time reservation, you can pick up some really nice accomodations for cheap at any of the Bluegreen resorts for only $59/night for a one bedroom, $69 for a two-bedroom, and $79 for 3-bedroom. The points cost to Daytona Beach in the summer is expensive, but we were able to find a one-bedroom unit both trips for only $59/night. All the units had an ocean-front view. Simply gorgeous! What will $59 get you otherwise? Just a cheap Motel 6 someplace in a dumpy part of town with a view of a grimy parking lot and dumpsters.

You have to be smart about st-r-e-t-c-h-ing your points. We bought from the developer in Gatlinburg, but will probably buy resale for more points in the future. Be forewarned, though, that if you buy your initial points resale, most likely they will not be 'authorized' points. That means that wherever your timeshare membership is deeded at, that is the ONLY location that you will be able to use Bonus Time at. Because I bought from the developer, I can use Bonus Time at any of the many BlueGreen resorts. The bonus time is the biggest perk for me! But once you own 'authorized points' you can go ahead and buy 'used' points, known as 'unauthorized points'. They'll still be just as good as full priced points when booking your vacations. And you'll still have Bonus Time benefits at all resorts.

There is a wonderful BlueGreen Yahoo group . . . look them up. We are a bunch of happy Bluegreen owners, giving each other tips on how to best use our memberships and practical advice about what kinds of perks each resort has, and which rooms/floors/buildings are the best to request!

Sincerely,
Lori Keffer

You guys are doing it all wrong! I LOVE Blue Green! I vacation with them every other year. I sign up for their presentation deal and enjoy my 2 night's stay in Gatlinburg. I let them charge me $99 and agree to attend a 90 minute presentation. After 2 hours, I leave with $100 in Bass Pro gift cards, and enjoy my 2 night stay.

Don't fall for the sales pitch. I always play along for about 20 minutes or so. I love to see their face when they think they have me on the hook. When I get bored, I tell them NO and ask to leave. After 15 minutes or so more, they give up.

BONUS! If you go to the BlueGreen booth in Gatlinburg and tell them you signed up for a tour, but don't have a ride, they will be nice enough to pick you up and drive you to the resort for FREE (I always tip the driver).

DOUBLE BONUS! Tell them you make $150k a year and they will give you a nicer hotel!

Well I just got back from my Blue Green Resort deal. As one guy said. You are promised 2 nights 3 days. You are there less then 48 hours. Also why would a company have to offer 1300 dollars worth of crap the first day just to get you to sign. On top of everything else. The Sales person told me it was like buying Real Estate. I for one feel that if I am buying Real Estate I should get to live in it Year round. Scam? Most likely yes. Lets look at the point system and being friends with RCI. Blue Green really has a few places that they own but being Friends with RCI can take you all over the world. What Happens if RCI goes Out of business? What Happens the place you want to go is all booked up? What happens when you pay 25, 000 dollars in to this but then they start hitting you with Fees? Bottom line. Call it Real Estate call it owning a piece a land. the bottom line is Blue Green is time shares and thats a scam in its self. The Manager was real pushy and kept trying to lower my payments to make me buy. The Sales person was nice but he played out the nice guy I have so much stuff in common with you routine. Terrible. When I buy something. I want to see and decide. I dont like being told I have to do this today or being pushed. So if you go to Blue Green you keep a few things in mind. Orbitz, Priceline, Hotels.com, and good old fashion camping trips.

some people get off by knocking other people down a notch. what is good for one family may not be good for another. wouldnt it be a better use of your time to tomind your own business and let people make up their own mind about timeshare ownership. i own 2 of them, but am thinking about selling 1 of them and buying into bg. that may be the best use of my time and money for vacations. i do not work for them. i am a union truck driver.

Well...I discovered the deal with these Bluegreen cheerleaders.
Ever wondered why someone would come to a consumer complaints site and cheer on the bad guys, the rip off artists, scamsters, crooks and thieves (Bluegreen). I just didn't get it...until I did some research. These guys are paid "REPUTATION DEFENDERS". Companies pay these dirt bags to scour the internet and DEFEND thier practices.
Proof: Google the following words "reputation defense".

I have been a Bluegreen owner for over 7 yrs. I have been pleased with the resorts and the exchanges with RCI. I'm active duty and can't always go vacation and kids not old enough the go it alone, I have "banked" time with RCI to use up to 2 yrs later. I have been able to book vacations (with relative short notice) during the busy seasons of 4th of July/spring break/easter break/summer time. One of my RCI exchanges allowed me and my family to attend my neice's graduation in UT Knox (stayed in Sieverville at very nice resort/Wyndam). I have not got every date/place I have wanted but I have gotten a majority of them. I took my son to Las Vegas for trade show (CES) for his 16th B day. I enjoy my timeshare experinences very much, the resorts are clean, staff are nice and most concerns are addressed. They do lack free internet in the rooms but so do Hiltons. I have just booked World Golf Village for a wk in July for son and ex (father and sons need to bond, even in messy divorces) I was glad to give them a nice vacation resort to stay at (using points so ex and underage son can stay w/o me). It gives a nice option and with opportuntity for exchanges w/ RCI spreads vacation options over 4 yrs, I have "lost" very min points. I will be glad when paid off, but I can pass along to kids, soon they will be paying the fees to use it. It is not cheap, but in the long run it will be great for future vacations with grown kids/grand kids and extended family.

Shu,
Before you rant again I have said a thousand times on here that I DO NOT WORK FOR BLUEGREEN.

Now that I hope you understand that I have also been an owner for 6 yrs and have never had any problems in getting a place in the sun in the school holidays, last year it was Marathon and Miami, the year befor Charleston and MB. This year it is Hawaii Napa Vally (select connections) and Vegas.
So pleas dont say you cant get into these kind of resorts becauseYOU are the one that is wrong YOU are the one that is a stranger to the truth.

Eric I hope you have many wonderful holidays with your BG points Join the yahoo group and find out how to get more out of the system.

and Shu I come on here to correct the BULL that people like you write.

Eric, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt my friend and say you are not a Bluegreen plant. Let me clue you in on some reality before you go offering advice to someone who's been an owner for 6 years. I too was a "happy owner" for my first two years. But, after two years everytime I tried to reserve vacation time, the answer was no. I've tried no less than 25 times over the last 2 years to reserve time at 18 different resorts - all of them no less than 2 months out. Most were 4-7 months out. That is was grates my ###. I was sold this crap so that we could go anywhere in the program as long as we called at least 30 days out. Of course your not going to get time if you call 2 weeks out...no [censored], The problem is, ERIC, that you can't get time at a QUALITY resort EVER! That is total BS.

I see from you list that you went to "less than marquee" resorts. I have no doubt you got to go to Williamsburg, Hershey, Shannadoea, and Boyne...off season. Absolutely. BG isn't making any money on those places in the off season. What you don't seem to realize is that 90% of us want to go where it's sunny and warm. If I wanted crappy and cold I'd hang out at a Bluegreen Sales Office and consort with the ash and trash that work there.

If your not a Bluegreen plant...Why did you come to Complaintsboard.com? Why would you bother to come to this site and THEN bother to post a 232 word post? Suspect...very, very suspect.

just got back from Boyne it was great. Spent easter there. Water Park was awesome. I'm not a BG plant. I'm a construction worker/ concrete finisher. I know BG is not for everyone. You need to have a very flexable job, ability to take time off when you want. If you plan it right there are endless possabilitys. I've been a member for 2 years. I've been to Williamsburg, Hershey, Shannadoea, and Boyne. All have been great times. The reason I came to the complain page was in the first three places we stayed we had BUN coffee makers and in Boyne it was just the old kind that takes 20 min. to make a pot.

I think people are up set because they do not understand how to book rooms. You need to check availabilitys first and go then. You can't say lets go to Fl. in two weeks and find a place. All of the resorts are suppost to be 5 star places so spend a little time planing and make it work for you.

On Valintines day my wife spends 1-2 hours finding available dates at different resorts and we pick our vacations then. Another tip is to select the +-3 day when checking dates because it will give you more options.

Anyway i'm happy with bluegreen. Some of there salereps might be ### but there resorts are GREAT.

K Shaw...If you are NOT a Bluegreen Plant (Pun Intended) let me tell you how this is going to play out for you:

1. Bluegreen is going to sucker you in by making sure you get to book a nice vacation. Then, you'll think "Wow, what a great deal, we should buy the silver package".
2. You buy the Silver package and find out about a year later it's actually Turd Brown package. You WILL NOT be able to book another vacation when you want. NEVER. If you want to go to Branson or Tennessee in the winter when the pool is closed and it's freezing then sure, enjoy, otherwise forget it.

According to Bluegreens most recent SEC filing they have over 225000 "Owners" and roughly 54 resorts. your competing with 220000 other people to get the rooms that are NOT being sold by the company on a CASH ONLY basis at www.bluegreenrentals.com. Basically - your totally hosed. KISS YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY GOOD BYE.

Hi... I also signed up for the Bluegreen Sampler package but I had a very detailed person setting up my acc0unt that let me know about the holidays and certain days in the sumer that I could not vacation.. I actually liked my sampler package because it gave us just that a sample of something greater... I didnt buy the full package after experiencing the sampler package because the price was a little too steep but with the sampler package I was able to plan four trips to places I would of otherwise never gone..

My god...How blind can you be. After reading all the posts here about what an incredibly HUGE scam this corporation is you STILL tossed your money in the toilet.

Bottom line: You buy the package, you get little to nothing in return but headaches. Good luck - your going to need it.

By the way people - ANYONE COMING TO THIS SITE TO TELL YOU HOW WONDERFUL THIS CRAPPY COMPANY IS IS LYING! THEY ARE SALES ###. PERIOD.

Why...WHY, would anyone "Happy" with their vacation plan bother coming to a Complaints Board, and then taking the time to post? I'll tell you why - THEY ARE BLUEGREEN EMPLOYEES!

Don't be stupid, for God sakes! Run, don't walk, run from these monsters.

Me and my wife just got back from Pigeon Forge Tenn. We had a great 4day three night vac. on bluegreen, all it cost me was was the 90 to 120 min pres. (plus everywhere me and my wife went and had a blast.) I told our sales rep there was two problems with him making the BIG sale today.
1. Silver package way too much for our budget
2. I absolutly would not buy anything like this on spare of the momment with out trying to research it first.
This is what we came up with...
He offered me the 7000 points everyother year for $10, 000(about $130 month for 10 years) with the first time only offers. Sounded great just one problem. #2
This is how we fixed #2 problem.
We froze this offer of 7000 points and the first time only gifts with the sampler pack. We now have 1 year from the time of purchase excluding JUNE, July, Augst. plus major holidays(wich were listed) If we decided to purchase with in a year the remainder of the 9000 points would be rolled over. All this for $1000 I thought ok I will go with that cause if you can find a place to stay for anything less that $100 a night good luck keeping the cockroaches of of you.
Me growing up I never took vac. (family couldnt afford it) My wife family everyyear, 4 or 5 familying go together and rents a condo of some sore $1400 to $2000 a week and slpit it. I thought if my wife and I were vac. with them why not pay me insted of some over hotel.
We have not book our vac. yet and don't really know when we want to go, but here is what I did that maby no one else did do. (my wife says I am a dork but at least I know this)
We got our small sampler book and opened it up to Tenn. and punch the the two for Tenn.
They were beautiful at least from then out side. and packed so they seem to work for some people. (don't think they were plants just because we were in town for the promo)
As I drove around the Laural Crest I stop and older gentleman with I would guess is grandkids and I just flat out asked him what he thought about bluegreen.
He said the maint. fees were kinda high but he and his family injoyed it. I ask when he signed up he said 1999 as a silver owner and had since become a gold owner and just that week became a platnum owner. I asked nothing else and went on my way. I have met at lease one person not a plants face to face what he thought, and other then the maint. fees I think he loved it.
We will try our hand at it and if we like it we too will become an owner.
This will not help everbody if it helps at least one person with there decision weather it be an owner or not please do not do more than what you can afford. God bless and be kind to each other.
