Bath Fitter in south Florida practices plumbing work without a licensed plumber or obviously permits. This is a no and I can attest that the result is predictable.

I witnessed an installation in Miami were electrical wires were dangling right behind the shower head pipe. There was no safety relay switch installed at the nearby outlet to protect bathers.

This is something that would have been prevented if a licensed plumber would have been employed. The professional would have known to have an electrician properly ground and strap the conduit. The local franchisee of Bath Fitter, who owns several other franchises, didn't research the local building and zoning requirements when he opened this franchise.

The management at the franchise instructs installers to hide company vans as much as possible so that the local authorities don't catch them working and stop their projects. They finally were caught in a small township here and had the jobs stopped and got fined. An agreement they have with a local wholesale club also requires them to be a licensed plumber. They are now scrambling to get a plumber to sign on.

The problem is that the owner of the franchise just wants the plumber to use his licensing to get permits but not to actually do any work. He wants to continue to use his installers to do the plumbing work. Well this will obviously not fix the problem.
