Coast Dental Services Lazy office time to go home!

I had made my first appointment in February, however I got Covid, and I canceled. March 11, 8:30 wanted to get my teeth cleaned . Get there and the lady takes bite wing X-rays instead of using the newer circular X-rays which is much easier on your mouth. While doing X-rays one of the X-rays cut the roof of my mouth. Then she said I don’t know if she will have time to do your cleaning, which I thought that’s why I went on the 11th. They made another appointment March 13 at 4:00, I am new to the area and I went to wrong costal Dental, I am walking on crutches because I am having knee replacement on March 28th. Call the office I was supposed to be at, young man I I had spoke with on March 11, told me to come on, I said it’s 10 miles away. He assured me they would see me. I drove 10 miles trying my best to hurry. Also I had to take 600 mg of Clindamycin that really upset my stomach, and I start itching everywhere. Get there before 4:30 and a lady says we can’t see you, I told her what the young man said, she said he at a call center which I didn’t believe. But then she says a nurse can look at your gums and I say I just want my teeth cleaned. So I left upset, I will never go back there, when I walked in 4 lady’s were sitting together talking. But the didn’t have time for me.waiting room was empty. And I may still contact a lawyer. Unprofessional! No other Dentist had ever made me take 600 mg of an antibiotic before?

Coast Dental Services Administrative staff and customer care

Coast Dental office at Riverview Florida

I had the worst experience of my life with medical and administrative staff. Since my first appointment, the front desk staff were nasty and careless in addressing or answering my questions and doubts. They were focused on confusing the patients regarding payments, even asserting that any misunderstanding or doubts were the patient's fault or ignorance. Courtesy is completely absent, and the attitudes are clearly of abuse and arrogance. It is surprising the lack of interest and sensitivity on really helping and advising the client regarding the dental health issues he is facing. The multiple bad reviews are proof that something very wrong is going on with this facility. Some people in the waiting room were also upset.

Dr.Pratt looked inefficient and careless without any care in explaining the patient's dental health needs and difficulties. The atmosphere is clearly toxic and suggest something deeply wrong is going on.

Claimed loss: I canceled my future appointments and immediately called Sunbit corporation to cancel my approval for $1610 credit for my bridge.

Desired outcome: Will not use or recommend Coast Dental at Riverview Florida

Coast Dental Services 2 gold crowns snatched from my mouth

I went in to be fitted for a partial. When the tooth cast was pulled it 2 of my gold crowns were removed with the mold. I was told by Dr. Jose Eduardo that he would put them back in but he would have to x-ray the teeth to make sure there was no damage. He took the x-ray and the teeth were fine but then he back pedaled and said he wasn't going to put them back in. Then he goes further to say that I hit him and called the police on me. A class act. Needless to say I had them replaced at my own expense. Coast dental also charged my insurance for take home meds that were never issued. I called the corporate office in Tampa to file a grievance but was told I couldn't speak to anyone at that time but they would call me back. I never heard from anyone. Highly unprofessional from the dentist and corporate. I will never go there again or recommend anyone to go there.

Desired outcome: Accountability for their actions, a formal apology and termination or some type of sensitivity training for Dr. Eduardo.

Coast Dental Services Coast dental stone mountain

I had an appointment scheduled for February 28, 2023 at 9:00 which I ended up canceling because I had to take my mother to her doctor's appointment on the same morning. I was rescheduled for and appointment MONTHS later on August 31 but then I got a call saying it had to be rescheduled to November 22 at 9:30. On November 17 I called to confirm my appointment, but had to leave a message. I did not receive a call back so on November 21 I tried calling again and had to again leave a message for which I again had no return call. On November 22 I called at 7:51 again trying to confirm my appointment. The call was again not answered, I left a message and did not get a return call. I called again at 8:55 to see if I could get through and let them know that I was still at work because the appointment was never confirmed. This call was actually answered and when I asked about my appointment I was told that I was not on their schedule for an appointment today and when I tried to ask why my calls were not returned the young lady asked if I could hold as there was an emergency. A few minutes later the line was disconnected. I tried to call back but then just decided to end the call. Later that evening I got a text at 7:48 saying "we see that you missed your appointment on today at 1:50". I was flabbergasted and infuriated that they would have the nerve to send me this text after no responses to my calls and basically hanging up on me earlier in the day. I am now looking into another dentist office because I will not be going back to that office. The strung me along for an entire year and I did not receive any dental service, but I'm sure they got all of the money that I pay into having the dental benefits.

Claimed loss: I did not receive any services for the year and I think my bridge may be coming loose because it is sensitive when I brush around it at a certain tooth.

Desired outcome: apology/explanation why service declined so much in a year I couldn't get a return call. Incurred damage resulting from no service the entire year especially when I was having an issue be paid for. Pain and suffering recompense

Coast Dental Services Coast Dental - inaccurately code treatments to get more money

Poor patient service, incompetent billing department.

They code treatments incorrectly (to get more money), choose more expensive treatments on purpose and make you get unnecessary treatments done to get the most money from you.

I caught It that they coded and submitted my treatments incorrectly to my insurance. I took It in my own hands to get this correctly submitted to my insurance. This alone was a 3 months long process. Once my treatment was correctly coded, I was told I overpaid. My insurance sent my reimbursement to Coast Dental. Coast Dental NEVER sent me my reimbursement to this day, even though they promised they would. Been chasing them for more than 6 months , and nothing happens. I have read that this has happened to hundreds , if not thousands other patients across the country who used Coast Dental. One word: SCAMMERS!

Desired outcome: full refund

Coast Dental Services - Annual cleaning

On 8/22/2023, I went to Coast Dental Service (located at 5348 Bruce B Downs Blvd, Wesley Chapel, FL 33544 Tel: [protected]) with an appointment for annual cleaning. Coast Dental Services Incorrect charges

My daughter and I went there and I had xray and screening but they did not ask me if I wanted to do screening. They did those and charged me $112 and they sent me another bill that I have to pay for more $40 so the total I have to pay is $152 for only xray and screening.

About my daughter. She had xray and regular cleaning and I already paid $87. They said they used something(chemical) that the insurance do not pay so I had to pay. Then they sent me another billing that I have to pay more $256.57 for nothing. They said that money was for the exams but my daughter did not have anything else but xray and cleaning. As far as i know my daughter is 15 so she has everything for free e.g Routine exam, cleaning, xray, sealants and fluoride treatment. But she only had xray and cleaning. I reported this issue to the insurance and they said they didn’t have any billing that I had.

Desired outcome: clear charges and refund

Coast Dental Services Billing and services

I have been billed three times. I have called and left 5 messages for someone to call me with no returned calls. I have even spoken with someone at Coastal Dental and they assured me that someone would call me to discuss this issue. I have since paid this bill to keep my credit good, even though this is an over charge from what my insurance company has indicated that I need to pay.

Coastal Dental is a scam. I have been overcharged, did not receive the services that I originally scheduled the appointment for. Did not see a dentist in person instead it was on TV. This dentist then proceeded to tell me I needed a crown. I got a second opinion, and I did not need a crown. Total scam. Coastal Dental charges people for services that they do not need and then overcharges after submitting information to insurance. I was told at my visit that everything was covered by my insurance except $24.00. I paid the $24.00 then received a bill for $132.00. I will never recommend this company, nor will I return.

Desired outcome: I would like my refund of $132.00.

I had the same problem with you. They overcharged me and they changed me for something that my daughter didn’t have. And it’s so ridiculous that we had the same service but the prices are different .

Coast Dental Services Overbilling, holding overpayments over 90 days

Documents substantiating this claim can be provided on request. I received services in March 2023 and again in April 2023 from the Lawrenceville, Georgia COAST DENTAL location. I paid $160 in March for a filling charge which later came up as just $47 owed by me after insurance. I was never told there was a "credit" for this overpayment on my "account." I only found out by accident in August. Unaware of what had occurred, I went back on April 17th and had several overlays done, which are billed as normal fillings with numbing. I was charged $732 at the time, which I was required to pay, despite Coast Dental already knowing CIGNA would pay 100% for fillings. I was unaware and paid in GOOD FAITH the $732 on my HSA Visa. Two days later I spoke to CIGNA who advised I didn't owe anything. Coast Dental never answers their phone for any reason, forcing me to go in person to the office to sort out or reverse the overpayment. I was told the "claims process" had to be completed, that my payments could not be reversed, and that I would be reimbursed in "two weeks." COAST said they had used the "wrong benefits chart" when creating my "estimate". This I later understood to be a lie. Unknown to me at the time also was the fact that they also made a routine, inexplicable (apparently planned) error on the claims form, ensuring the claim would be delayed or denied. I spoke to CIGNA again in June and was told that multiple requests had been made to Coast to correct the claims error but they were unable to contact them. Finally on July 5th I went BACK into the Coast office to sort out the error, which they denied. They tried to bully me into leaving, but I refused and stood there until the bookkeeper finally relented and went into her claims system, where the error and correction requests were clearly visible. The claims from April 17th were resubmitted (unwillingly by COAST) and finally processed on July 28th showing I had NO financial responsibility. I heard nothing from Coast despite having escalated the problems previously. So on August 4th I went BACK into the Coast office to get a final resolution. I was told not only that "people have been waiting for YEARS for refunds" but also "I do not work for you" when I asked that the employee call Coast corporate and followup on my previous problem escalation report. I was bullied, harassed, and demeaned, and my rights as a patient and consumer were violated. I am not the only person in Georgia that this has happened to.

Desired outcome: $832 refunded (amount of overpayments made in 2023)$1000 for infliction of emotional distresswritten apology from the COAST DENTAL employee "Valerie" in this locationwritten apology from the COAST DENTAL corporate office

Coast Dental Services First Appointment on 07/06/2023 @ 02:10pm Brooksville FL office

We arrived on time, were asked if we had an appointment after waiting 1/2 hour. Then we were informed that a text message cancelling our appointment was sent to me (not true) I have all the texts received from them still in my phone. Then we were told that the Dr. assigned to me had a family emergency and could not attend to me. It's my first visit and needless to say my last. there associate at the reception desk is very rude and callus. Perhaps some additional training with respect to Customer Service, would be helpful. I'm sure the other staff members and professionals are excellent individuals, but there front desk receptionist needs help with customer service skills.

Best regards

Desired outcome: Better training and monitoring of your reception area associates. No need to apologize, that does nothing for your customer base. Just perform better, make improvements to the quality of there staff.

Coast Dental Services Overcharged for crown

To see the evidentiary exhibits referred to throughout the complaint, please see this link: https://imgur.com/a/UuKmHnS

On 05/28, I had an appointment for an exam and fillings. I was told they couldn’t do the fillings without an expensive deep cleaning treatment, which came to $1270.99 after insurance. It was a cleaning as well as antibiotic placements and take home trays.

They were able to start 2 crowns I’ve wanted, and presented me with options. I chose porcelain crowns, and signed a treatment plan saying as much. (Exhibits 1A - 1B)

They charge $1,563 dollars per porcelain crown, my HMOs negotiated rate brings it down to 500. Then, they cover $150 with insurance, so my responsibility was for $350 per crown (Exhibit 1A.)

Altogether, the crowns would cost me $1,327 after insurance, including the “preparatory” things like temporary crowns, irrigation, grinding my teeth down, as well as my XRay and an oral cancer screening. They scheduled my permanent crown seating 3 weeks out, the day before my deep cleaning.

So $1270.99 for the cleaning plan, plus $1327 for the crowns brings my total to $2597.99. I declined the $89 cancer screening (Exhibit 1B.) this brings the total to $2508.99 as you can see on the itemized receipt (exhibit 2.) We agreed and we paid upfront for everything, as you can see on the customer receipt (exhibit 3.) This is proof we accepted and paid for every treatment offered, sans the oral cancer screening.

The dentist ended up not needing to do the $90 service for each tooth, and was honest and credited us. services rendered that day totaled $358, leaving us a balance of 2150.99 (exhibit 2.) So far, so good.

My crowns came in early! I went in on 06/07/2023 and they put my crowns in.

The next day, 06/08/2023, I was told they had an opening and I could come in and get my deep cleaning early! Woo. Could it get any better?

I arrived on 06/08/2023 to be met by the male receptionist who said I needed to sign 3 documents. One of them was the same cleaning plan as before, only it was doctored to say I didn’t pay for the perio trays. What? I knew we paid for them. But since my GF made the payment, they claimed she must’ve rejected them. Confused, it took my a minute to sign, but I did. The signature was to authorize the doctor to perform all the services listed above, not to decline anything, I figured we’d get it sorted out afterward.

They also said I had $180 in extra credits (remember the two $90 services they credited us for?) which would be enough for 3 antibiotic placements. But how about the other 4? And the trays? Ah well, we will figure that out after, I thought. After a suspiciously short full mouth “deep cleaning,”, my girlfriend picked me up. I asked her if she really did decline those services. She hadn’t. As we drove home we decided to go back and demand the documents I am posting.

I now had all the evidence I selected and paid for porcelain crowns and my share was $350 per. Even my online dental insurance portal showed they submitted the correct amount and that my share would be 350 each (exhibit 4.)

then he handed me two documents that showed the scam. They had inexplicably charged me $975 for each crown. (exhibit 5) $825 after insurance. $1650, instead of $700. It said that instead of the porcelain/ceramic crowns I can prove I selected and paid for, I received “full contour Zirconium”

They stole a difference of $950 dollars from my prepaid balance. to cover it up, they had me sign a new cleaning plan, doctored to exclude the trays. After I signed, they doctored it even further to say that I declined ALL antiobiotic treatments as well as the trays! (exhibit 6) Literally with a sharpie! This doesn’t even jive with the math on the bottom right of the same document. I paid for the full 1270.99. But they had already stolen $950 from me, so they took off the trays and said I accepted 820.99. That still didn’t account for the entire theft, so they just took a sharpie and pretended I declined other services too.

After a day of emailed complaints and posting evidence online, got a call and an email from the male receptionist admitting fault and promising a refund (Exhibit 7)

No refund has been issued.

In conclusion, the ONLY way to get to $2508.99, the amount I paid, is if I accepted every single service on BOTH treatment plans, save for the $89 oral cancer screening. $1270.99 for the cleaning and $1327 for the crowns, minus the oral cancer screening. $1270.99 + $1327 - $89 = $2508.99. Their claims of me declining the perio treatments are FALSE and exist only to cover up the theft of the $950 they overcharged on the crowns. No other conclusion is possible.

Desired outcome: Return of my $950

Coast Dental Services Dental services

I had filed a compliment about the Coast Dental on Swann. Dr. Lopez was very knowledgeable and kind. I began with their service in January or February of 2023. I spent several thousand dollars to have my teeth fixed. During that time, I developed an infection and could not see Dr. Lopez. I went to another Coast. I encountered a "dentist" who really couldn't diagnose anything. I learned later that the dentist not only was inept, but left suddenly. He did give me antibiotics for the infection. It was not enough. When the infection reappeared, I called the Coast Dental on Swann, where I had all of the services. Most of the time no one answers the phone. One is given the opportunity to leave a message. Twice, explaining that I was in pain and apparently the infection needed extra treatment with more antibiotics. No one called be back, although I explained every time that I was in pain. No one, none of the staff called me back ever to discuss the issue. This was a period of several days. Dr. Lopez did not call me either. although she probably wasn't given the message by her inept and uncaring staff. The pain continued, did not go away.

So, when I needed to be helped as an actual patient, it did not happen. I needed help. not just teeth being fixed. Sure, the staff was all sweetness while I was paying thousands of dollars. However, when I truly needed medical help from the dentist, not only was I not given it, but so one called me about it. They didn't care a bit that I was in pain. Minimally, Dr. Lopez could have called. But again, she may not have been told. I regret leaving that good review at the start of treatment. Had I waited after this experience, I would have explained this issue.

Desired outcome: There is nothing that can be done. I would like to speak to Dr. Lopez about all of this. From that, yes, I would like an apology. Plus attention should be paid as todreadful the staff is and, how difficult it is to get through to them.

Coast Dental Services Refund of $322.00

I visited the Coast Dental office on 12/12/2022. I was told that I had a $5.00 copay for the visit. When I went to pay it they told me that they would just take it out of the credit on my account. I had no idea that I had a credit, so I asked what credit and how much is it. She said it is $327.00, and that it was an overpayment from over a year ago. She said the balance will be $322.00 after the $5.00 copay and printed me my receipt showing my credit balance. I asked the lady for a refund, who said it would take forever to process, and she said that I had to talk to the office manager about it. So I went to the front office and I formally asked the office manager to please process my refund. She again reiterated that it would take forever, and she had to audit it first before she could send it to corporate. I said that is okay, how long will it take you to audit and send it up to corporate. She told me she would be done with it Friday, 12/16/2022, and would forward it to corporate.

It has been 5 months now and I have called the local and corporate Coast Dental phone numbers to no avail. I have left message after message and nobody calls me back. Nobody ever answers the phone.

Desired outcome: A complete refund of my money.

Find another dentist provider, or change your insurance carrier at your first opportunity so you will have different "network" choices. What Coast is doing is not isolated to just one or two individual "complaints."

Coast Dental Services Improper placement of crowns (top) and temporaries (bottom)

In 2017, I became a patient at Coast Dental. My routine cleanings by the hygentist were always top-notch! Unfortunately, with the cleanings it was suggested I needed to have all of my 28 teeth crowned! So beginning in late 2019 that work was started. Due to Covid, my top teeth were not completed until Jan. 2021! Then the dentist left the area for about a year or so. Upon returning in Jan. 2022, the restorative work began on July 14th. However, after 8 months of care, I was dismissed on March 21st, 2023! The dentist stated she could not help me anymore. The reason for this was because I stated I was not satisfied at all with the appearance and the fit of the 6 front permanent teeth that she wanted to cement into place. Thus, I declined the placement of them. (I have pictures of them when they were placed into position without any cement. All the people I have shown them to have seen all the same negative issues that I saw.)

Naturally with a desire to have my teeth finished, I went to two other specialized dentists in town to get their opinions. They both stated they would have to redo my top teeth also if they took on the case! Their comments were that the reason the temps on the bottom were not sitting in my mouth properly was because the top crowned teeth were not properly placed! (During the 8 months of care for my bottom teeth at Coast, I kept asking about the very obvious highs and lows of the temps. - I have pics... - I was always told not to worry about it.)

Now I am trying to figure out how to proceed... The status of the MESS in my mouth has to be fixed! I have reached out to the main personnel at Coast, but I have not received any response yet. I am sure hoping they are going to treat me better than the personnel did at the local office I went to! Although the initial physical pain was horrific, the emotional pain I went through there was worse! The dentist even yelled at me twice! IMAGINE THAT...! Almost everything I stated about the procedure being done in my mouth was turned around to make me feel like a fool. I have eyes and I saw the many inconsistencies in my mouth. I too knew when something was not feeling right in my mouth. With all of that, the compassionate care that one expects from a dentist was not evident at all for me! Unfortunately, I will not be able to recommend Coast to anyone unless something changes in my behalf.

Desired outcome: RESOLUTION for my case, please. ~~ Total refund for the whole procedure (top and bottom) which started on 10/31/2019 and ended on 03/21/2023.
