I have been unable to work out since June 2022, so in July that year, I contacted the gym to freeze my account. I opted to freeze it for three months, even though I had the option to freeze it for up to six months. I believed that three months would be sufficient. However, my doctor has still not cleared me to exercise, so in early October 2022, I called again to freeze my account for an additional three months. I spoke to two different employees who assured me that they would take care of it. Unfortunately, the payment still went through. Later, I discovered that I could only freeze my account once per calendar year. Frustrated, I decided to cancel my account altogether. I had a conversation with the regional manager, ***, at the Club 4 Fitness Homewood location. He informed me that in order to receive a refund, I would need to provide a doctor's note. However, legally, I am not obligated to provide a doctor's note to my gym as it is not my employer. I was upset that they had taken money from my account without authorization, especially since two of their employees had assured me that the money would not be deducted while my account was on freeze. The regional manager, ***, was extremely rude and unhelpful.

To be safe, I also contacted my bank and asked them to block any transactions from this party, which incurred a cost of $30. Unfortunately, they have continued to charge my account from then until now, resulting in a total of $180. Frustrated, I visited the gym in person and requested to cancel my membership entirely, but they informed me that I would need to settle the outstanding balance first. In an attempt to resolve the matter, I have been emailing the manager, Ray, who has been inconsistent in his responses. He initially agreed to waive the initial $25 charge and freeze my account, citing the fact that they had changed email addresses without notifying their clients. However, his communication has been unprofessional, and he rarely returns calls or follows through on his promises.
