After reading info on this website, my3cents.com, /link removed/ and the recent lawsuit settled in California I was concerned about Citi.

I am retired and unemployed. I attempted to negotiate a payoff offer with Citi a few months ago. It didn't happen because I asked to speak with a manager and he was so rude and condescending I gave up.

I tried again recently. I talked with a Ms Nolan (she was the third person I talked to; I asked to speak to someone who can make a decision.) We agreed upon a payoff amount and she gave me a due date. I asked her to fax me a confirmation (having read that Citi had received a final payoff, then demanded more money). I waited over an hour; no fax. I called back and got a person who identified herself as the "answering service". I left a msg with her for Ms Nolan that the fax is ready. Feeling uneasy, I typed my own confirmation and faxed it. I think it is strange that the fax number on my fax receipt is 2677772 and not the fax number I dialed as shown on their website.

Over an hour later I called again. Spoke to a Ms Strickland and went through the entire scenario again. She told me Ms Nolan didn't complete the "settlement macro". (This is not my problem.) She said their department doesn't send confirmations until after the payoff is made. (they need to tell Ms. Nolan) Then she asked me what do I plan to do if this is not accepted? I told her it is already accepted and I have a due date. Then she said, "oh, the manager had accepted it, he was just waiting for the "macro" to be completed." I was asked to call back in two days.

I called back in two days and Ms Strickland told me they are not accepting any more settlements and I would have to pay the full amount or do an amendment (to stretch out payments). I told her this is not right because I have an agreement and I do not intend to prolong my relationship with Citi. The call ended with me telling her this is why Citi is in so much trouble. . . you pay when you don't treat people right.

I am not protesting the mounds of interest I have paid; that was my mistake. I am protesting the way companies such as this play with people's lives and jerk them around. I don't know if it is incompetence or dishonesty, but whatever it is, it is out of control.

I filed a complaint with the FTC because Citi and its representatives cannot be trusted.

I have concluded that there is a conspiracy to ensure that middle and low income Americans never OWN ANYTHING! One of the problems is that no one cares about the fate of Americans because these companies are not run by Americans. I guess they haven't heard the trite expression, "When America gets a cold, everybody sneezes." I hope if anyone is considering Citixxxx, they will read some of this info before proceeding:

I also have a car loan with CitiFinancial. I have just spent the last 2 hours trying to speak with someone in customer service in the United States of America! Each time I call there is a foreign sounding person on the other end of the line and come to find out, these people are from India. They asked me for my social security number - I said I do not give out that info. They said that CitiFinancial Auto is based in India. I asked for a corporate office phone number in the U.S. and the guy gave me a wrong number. I have lost my husband, my job, my mother and the stress of trying to make arrangements for my future payments has left me exhausted and quite honestly indifferent. This is our society America. No one really cares. That is the reality. We each have to stand up and fight for every morsel of deserved consumer assistance CitiFinancial should be offering. It is an absolutely exhausting experience.

I too am going through the same situation! Twice I was asked to submit the information ( because they didn't receive it the first time) and twice I did! They continued to tell me that they did not receive my information - until a half hour of arguing on the phone and all the sudden they found it! They said someone will be in touch with me in a few days. 2 weeks went by, I received a phone call asking for a payment I explained I am waiting for the amendment department to contact me - I asked for a phone # and I was told that they didn't have one for that department that they all work together, but they could get in touch via email and have some one call me! So, another week went by and the phone call came I was approve my payment dropped from $553.00 to $420.00! Great the company my husband was working for filed bamkrupcy with no warning and it took 5 weeks to get his first unemployment check so we had the money for that kind of a payment. So, gladly I made the $420.00 payment - the next month came I called in talked to a rep made another $420.00 amendment payment (plus phone fees) thinking everything was fine I just picked up the phone called in to make my 3rd $420.00 amendment payment ---WRONG! I owe $640 some dollars my regular payment ($553), some late payments and the difference from not makeing the full payment the last month (not the first amendment payment) they are telling me that they NEVER received any of the paper work and that I was NEVER aproved for the amendment! I again asked for a number for that department and again denied! When I asked for the guys name I got "Floor Manager" --- Nice! After several minutes of argueing his name is Chris - just Chris!
NOW WE HAVE TO COME UP WITH $640 SOME DOLLARS TO KEEP OUR CAR! WOW WHAT A COMPANY!
MY ADVISE TO ANY TRYING TO GET AN AMENDMENT DON'T - - - YOU'RE NEVER APPROVED - EVEN AFTER YOU'RE APPROVED!

I think a news station would like to hear these stories or do a TV investigation show about Citi Financial Auto. Not one person can give the right answer when you call them, not even a simple question. I will help. I have nothing but dr appointments to go to and the rest of my time I can spend making Citi Financials life hell.

I'm not done with them yet. We all need to get together and get them exposed. This is cruel and unusual treatment when people are struggling as it is and there are actual deadbeats out there not intentionally paying their bills when we are and then get our only transportation taken away? Not for non payment, partial payment in good faith.

Never Never Never again and word of mouth is the best so SPEAK UP!

Most of the customer care people could not speak English well, sounds it is outsourced by other countries. Simple request are not handled after two weeks, and that's you gonna be pissed so bad. They will promise onething, but break that promise next. Caution, DO NOT GET CITIFINANCIAL AUTO in your next car purchase, the lousiest service I ever had.

I have been ASKED by CitiFinancial to provide information to get an "amendment"--I have submitted it twice and they contiue to tell me that they have not recieved any fax from me.
When I didn't hear from anyone, I decided to make a payment on my vehicle at the current rate and was locked out from making the payment online. When I called to make the payment, they woman told me to "wait" until someone called me--no one ever did--until this morning when they called DEMANDING I make a $600 payment to 'get current'---and then they argued with me about the fact that no one there ever returns phone calls. I wish I had a number for someone OTHER than "Mr. Schaeffer" (who by the way, refuses to give me a last name)--I guess my only option is to surrender the car or try to make the $600 payment, which wouldn't have been late had they not told me to "wait"

This is ridiculous

We too are currently havng the same problem. We have called and also written letters attempting to get them to lower our truck payment and they also told us that we didnt have enough income coming in. We also told them if that were the case, then why would we be calling you?! I think that this must be their "standard" line when someone calls looking for assistance. Im my book, Citifinancial Auto (Citigroup) is NO better than all of the PREDATORY lenders that are out there right now! Consumers beware! Do not take out a loan with Citifinancial Auto!

God bless you.

Stupidity is one thing. Stupidity, rudeness, and the inability to command the English language are three.

But intentionally misleading consumers and profiting from it becomes a TORT. I hope you sue them and get everything you can from them before any class-action suit is brought.

the guy that says he obtained a loand in 7/08? First of all he may have gotten a bit further had he of gottne the date right. 2nd again if his payments would have been made in a timely manner he would not have had this happen.

To the cusomter affected by Katrina all loans affected by this horrible event were given adjustments.

To the person whose son is in the military, all efforst have been made to accomodate those over seas. it is the LAW, one that this company has followed to the T!

Well, they have also seemed to have screwed me. After "katrina", i recieved a letter saying that i could defer payments for ninety days, and the payments would be moved to the end of my note. my note is scheduled to end in march 08 (plus the other three months); however they have more than doubled the amount that i should owe. I should owe 2600(they show 5400). Somebody please help me(in the name of Jesus!)

First of all learn how to spell, secondly figure out which year you are in!

There are many horror stories about just about any lending company.

I agree they use poor tactics to deal with their customers.

The corporate world needs to make sure they are training their personnel more completely.

Trouble is they outsource most of their dirty work to companies who are less than wholesome.

Thus we receive the harsh attitudes of underpaid workers who hear enough all day long from unhappy customers. Their only recourse is to be nasty to someone on the other end of the phone who are at their wits end.

It's unreal how our world has become so inhumane.
