My nephew was refused to board the plane because he will be using a harness to support him sitting upright that is not the same brand specified in Cathay's website. However that brand is not available in the Phils while he has a harness with same specification, customised for his physique. That same harness has been used in their previous international travels without problem. It is still in very good condition and sturdy. As far as we know, this harness is not meant for his safety but to support sitting upright. And since it is made with same specifications as what is specidied in Cathay's website, it will fit just the same to the airline seats. It is also important to mention that the brand specified in Cathay's website is not FAA-certified. So what's the point of using that exact one? We don't really see the point.
This refusal has caused distress not only to our nephew, but to his family, uncles and aunties here in NZ as well. Not to mention, their 2-week holiday is already planned, NZ local.flights were booked, accommodation, tours paid and work leaves are approved. They even have to get a visa for this 2-week holiday.
Desired outcome: Please allow travel with own harness
