We signed 3 contracts for renovations with Capital Home Services. They took a lot of money upfront, but now they won't give us any updates or a solid schedule. On Monday, April 25th, we couldn't reach them on the phone. I'm starting to think they might be going out of business or something.

Because of COVID, I couldn't make it to October as I didn't have access to a computer. Capital Home Services took $23,320.00 from me in October . I want $2,000.00 for the service they didn't provide and the damage they caused to my evestrooft. Finally, I have managed to go to the library. I have two work orders, and I would like an original receipt for the second one. *** promised to give it to me, but he never did. The company has washed their hands off me and I have two warranties. This company's customer service is not good. I want this issue resolved.

I got some complaints about Capital Home Services. They made my outdoor stair in July for the entrance door. (1) Some steps are all messed up, they're all cracked and bent. (2) The porch used to be lower than the door, but now it's all the same level. This causes water to leak inside and flood everything. (3) The drain pipe leaks in winter and floods the porch and stairs, making them all icy and dangerous. You could easily slip and fall. (4) One of the workers broke my doorbell and replaced it with a wireless one that keeps ringing all the time, even when it's not needed. It's really annoying. I just want my old doorbell back, not this useless wireless one.

Sept-Oct 2022, we paid $9800 to have our closet doors, interior doors, and pocket door replaced by Capital Home Services. The workmanship was shoddy, with the 5 closet doors being cut too short. They attempted a patch job to make it somewhat acceptable, but it was clear that mistakes were made. Additionally, they ordered the wrong paint, resulting in us having to repaint the doors three times. To make matters worse, the pocket door they installed was not the one we were originally quoted for. Throughout the project, there were many delays as workers were sent elsewhere on multiple occasions. It was frustrating to see a helper painting the doors who clearly had no experience in painting. Overall, the job was very poorly done.

When we voiced our complaints, we were met with dismissive responses and told that we should be pleased with the work. We felt somewhat forced to accept the job as complete after they attempted to hide the errors with patchwork. However, even after all the efforts, there were still 6 screws missing from one of the doors. The manager seemed more interested in talking about his personal properties and dogs than addressing the issues at hand. Overall, we would rate our experience with Capital Home Services as below average. The company should be ashamed of the subpar job they performed on this contract.

Capital Home Services was hired to tear down and rebuild our porch. We signed the contract on June 12, and they started working on September 28. But then, because of the winter, they had to stop, and they said they would come back in the spring of 2021 to finish it. Finally, on April 7, they came to put up the brick pillars and said they would return at the "end of May" to do the trim work, painting, fix the landscape, and repair the other damages they caused. We didn't hear from them, so we called in mid-June. We left several messages, but they didn't call us back until July 26, when they did the trim work. However, they still haven't done the painting, lawn repair, and other damage repairs. We haven't seen them since. They kept saying they would come "next week," but they never showed up or contacted us. It's now November, and they're not returning our calls again. We had to pay them in advance, so we've already given them over $90,000 out of the $93,000 contract. But more than a year later, they still haven't finished, and they won't tell us when or if they will fulfill their obligations. They always make excuses, like they're trying to catch up or can't find workers. We even offered to find our own painters to protect the bare wood from another winter and send them the bill, but they said they would find painters to come "next week." They didn't. The work that still needs to be done includes painting all the woodwork, fixing the lawn and garden, repairing the hole in the brick veneer wall to match the existing brick, and fixing the gouges in the cement and interlock walkway caused by a worker using a jackhammer to remove debris. Because they took so long to come back and do any work, it's now too late in the season for most of this (although the hole in the wall must be fixed before winter). We want a definite and specific date in writing for when they will complete the contract in the spring of 2022.

I want to share my experience with Capitol Home Services (CHS) regarding a project at my home. I signed a contract with CHS on March 30, 2022, to convert my carport into a garage. The work began in late June, but in September, I was notified that a building permit was needed. Unfortunately, this caused construction to come to a halt.

CHS assured me that they would take care of obtaining the necessary permit. On September 14, they informed me via email that the application had been submitted and an engineer had been hired to handle the permits and additional drafts required by the city. The plan was to install the garage door on September 16, but it didn't happen.

On September 28, CHS confirmed in another email that "everything has been sent in." However, on October 19, I contacted the city building department and discovered that no application had been submitted for my address. When I brought this to CHS's attention on October 20, they said they were looking into it but never followed up.

I reached out to the Ottawa client services office on October 25, and they confirmed that no permit application had been made. CHS's response was that they were working on it. Throughout multiple email exchanges, I expressed my frustration with the delays, but CHS only promised that the application would be submitted by October 28.

On October 31, I contacted CHS again for an update, but they did not respond. The Ottawa client services office confirmed on October 31, November 1, and November 4 that no application had been filed. I have made payments as scheduled on March 30, June 29, July 6, and July 21. One final payment is still pending until the project is completed.

I am now requesting a formal response from CHS through *** regarding the following matters: 1) When will the building permit application be submitted? If there are further delays, I would like a detailed explanation. 2) Once the application is filed, I request confirmation with the application number. 3) When does CHS plan to resume and finish the project?
