MagicJack - Unauthorized billing

This was for a telephone unit that I received on a thirty-day trial period. I could not get it to work on my home computers. I returned it one week before the trial period terminated. I mailed it from Ireland. Further, they billed me twice for shipping. The unit has been returned within the trial-period and the charge is unfair and it should be reversed....

I am in awe of the number of idiots posting complaints about MagicJack. Why in the world would someone cancel local phone servive before a trila run with MagicJack. Why would someone buy it if the only have dialup service. These are only a couple of the idiotic complaints I have read on this site. Even if some of the complaints are true...it was only $40; Hell, I lost $200 when SunRocket shut down.

All I can say is that this device is working fine for me. Is it as good as a landline or a full service VOIP; no it is not, but what do you expect for $20/year. I rarely use my landline...

Magicjack disconnected my service due to "overusage". I bought magicjack because I was going to save money as my kids make lots of phone calls. I think this is just a scam to make money on people. When your number of calls reaches a limit, they suspend your service and then ask you to buy minutes, if you want to use their service. I knew there was a catch.
I will be filing a complaints with better business beauro in Dallas/Texas. I recommend everybody does the same to stop this scam....

Mine works great. In fact i can't believe how great it works. the thing is much clearer than my traditional land line was.

I run mine on my desktop computer hooked to a time warner high speed cable modem.

I told all my extended family becuase it really truly is great.

We ditched our regular landline.

the only difference is with the majic jack when I lift the handset it takes about 1 sec instead of instantly to get the dial tone and the software pops up in the middle of my screen whenever i lift the handset (which is kind of annoying.)

i purchased magicjack and cancelled my land line service only to find out there is no local phone service from majicjack for my area . this means my famly and neighbors/friends have to call long distance to call me this is a distaster if my family was to become sick and need to contact me...

I have read a number of the complaints about the MagicJack and and I am in awe of the idiots that could not get them to work. I bought 1 MagicJack a year ago and installed it im my home (Charter Cable not DSL) and it worked immediately. I have subsequently purchased three more and I am using them at my business. All working great. I have one telephone line into my business for the Fax and the DSL (Cost about $89.00/Month). The other three I use to conduct my business. I eliminated three Verizon lines at a cost of about $149 per month. Some people just like to hear themselves complain. I have "chatted"...

Beware! Magicjack will not replace a unit that goes bad from Walgreens or any other third party. They state that it is in their terms of service which are not clearly marked on the box when you buy it. Here is the actual chat log I had with the Tech Supervisor, Nikki.

magicjack is everything they say it is not the company reps but all the folks that have been ripped off by this fraudulent bsI cant figure why no one has brought a class action lawsuit against this company they should be made to pay and be held responsible for this scam against the everyday trusting consumer public what the h is going on when the US attorney general lets this go on why havent they been shut down just my humble opinion but sounds like a lot of folks are of the same opinion...

I have a MagicJack which has not worked right for a long time. I have contacted MJ on their "Support Chat" page numerous times and each time went through a similar, long process with the "tech" only to end up being transferred to "a higher level of support" finally, today, I decided to try one more time. Worked fine for the 1st month and a half. Overnight, it stopped working. Their website is as difficult to navigate as Walmarts'. It took me 30 minutes to find a Customer Chat line. I was disconnected from the chatline on 4 different occassions and spoke with 8 agents over a nine hour period. The piece of crap still doesn't work. No one of their end seems to know what their doing and everyone you talk to wants to walk you thru the same nine hundred steps wiping other software off your computer (that they say is incompatible with magicJack - funny thing it worked for over a month with that...

I'm a senior citzen and recieved and advertisement for this item magicjack on a 30 day trial and when I recieved the item I found it will not work without a High Speed internet Connection or cable internet. This device plugs in via USB. The device works like a charm the only BIG fall back is that you can't leave the device in your computer and have it be active at bootup. If you bootup your computer with the device in, it won't turn on. You have to plug it in every time you first bootup (at your desktop) for the device to come active and have the application recognize it. I had this device 1 day and already noticed how redundant this device was, especially cause not every computer has USB ports in the front and want a silly looking dongle hanging out the front. This company illegally and without authorization stores your credit card information permanently in their databases. I found this out when I went to place another order of the product and found that it already had all my credit card data from the previous transaction eventhough I make it a point to never store my CC data on any website that I purchase online from. I always am happy to re-enter my credit card info and was surprised when I found that it was pre-loaded on this site. Advertised a 30 day trial that you would not be charged for until the end of the 30 days. They charged the next day and also charged for the 5 year plan to boot. I was not expecting this and have an internet account for internet purchases only which would have become overdrawn if I hadn't called the bank for another reason and found out.
The product did arrive 2 days later and I have it hooked up and it does work fine...except I am now finding out that other peopkle are being charged long distance to call me. This should have been disclosed at the very beginning, not in some fine print...

After seeing the magicjack at my friend's house working, I bought the magicjack. But, the magicjack never showed the magic to me. It never worked!! I spent more than 3 hours of trouble shooting with the tech chat including trouble shooting with one of the managers at the chat session. I have been in contact with MagicJack and thought you might like to know, their Chat/Technical Support staff is populated with idiots unable to think on their own. I haven't been able to make this thing work for more than a day at a time. When I shut down the computer, the jack isn't recognized on boot up. I have repeatedly downloaded updates and it will work as long as I don't turn off the computer. If I do, same story. I've been trying to get a refund for the extended service plan that I paid $59.95 for and doesn't even kick in until the end of my initial year of so-called service you get with the purchase of the MagicJack. However, their customer service people can not understand that and insist on interpreting my request as a request for a refund on the MagicJack itself which is beyond their 30-day period for a refund. I've sent out at least 8 emails to them trying to tell them I do not want a refund for the MagicJack itself, but for the extended service plan.
