I placed an order approximately 2 days ago for five years term restart my magic jack telephone number 613-800-2101 which I received confirmation for this event.
I tried to use my magic jack will without success. I called magicJack for support only to find they wanted another $300 fix the problem which they said was infecting my computer. I think this is a scam and I want you people to be aware that people at the other end are using magicJack's name to entice people to have their computers repaired before they can use magicJack. I bought prepaid minutes and applied it to my magic jack app and was using it on my cell phone. I upgraded my cell phone and retained the same phone number but when I tried to use the magic jack app. it said that there was no available funds and that I would have to purchase prepaid minutes . I logged on to my magic account and saw that funds were available. I bought the new MagicJack USB pluggable VOIP system from Best Buy and installed it on home computer. I am a very savy IT guy. Immediately I noticed that calls were going to the MJ Voice Mail system, even though no one had been on our phone.

They advertise caller ID, but its a lie. The NUMBER of the person calling you does show on your phone -- but not the callers name -- I called them and they said in order for the Name to show, you'd have to manually enter the callers name in their database!!! Well, 1/3 the calls we get are surveys/junk calls...which I am not about to enter...

I have had MagicJack for many years and accepted the poor quality of the service because it was at the beginning of a new product thriving on the market and offering a cheap service. However, they have increased the prices but not the quality of their services. I had my device with a problem recently and got a replacement that does not work. I received the replacement the day I had to fly overseas to find out that MagicJack sent me a bad piece. I have contacted them a few times to have my problem fixed and they can only ship to my address in NYC, not overseas unless I want to pay the international...

They charge yearly for number porting when it should be a one time charge. Never contacted me when I was up for renewal they just shut the line down. Magic jack wants you to supply them with a auto renewal. When I dropped the service they are holding back my number which I ported over to the a year ago. Now verizon has informed me there is federal request to port my number back. Now will have no business phone for 2weeks....

MagicJack owner, just received a email about how bad magicJack works. my story :Saw one on sell, saw you did not have to look into your computer I have a flaky computer and things like this sometimes make it lock -up IE :printer, USB keyboard and didn't buy one before because you had a keep computer on.After set-up I plugged one in my router I had phone just had to unplug it once a while for the update as in the instructions requirements. I renewed my magic jack sub and was charged regulatory fees twice a fee that was never charged to my account before and also an automatic sub renewal fees which I did not request.
The cost of the subscription has in fact doubled my charges. I was not satisfied with the response from the agent and was given a link to confim my request to cancel my account and the request for the refund.
The connecting link was broken. I still do not know when or if my refund will be actioned. What do I do from here...

My complaint is that they illegally kept my credit card information on their data base... attempted to charge it without my permission and raised the price without informing me. They were charging my card at 2:40 am giving me one hour notice to cancel without them ever being given permission to do an auto charge in the first place. Magic jack has the worst costumer care, I might have to say. It was time for me to renew my phone and after doing so, I realize they charged me twice. I tried to explain the issue 6 times with a live chat agent (6 different agents), and every time they said “let me help you with that" or “let me check that for you" then the chat will end. 6 times!
Reuben, the last agent I talked to, was rude. I told him, this is terrible costumer service to what he replied " no, its not.” He didn’t say: ' im sorry, I apologize"...no. just a simple " no, its not" later he said...

I purchased a MagicJack in 2011. I then ported my home number for a one-time fee, and paid for an extra 4 years of service. Without notifying me, my ported phone number "expired after one year. They want an additional $20 to revive it plus $10 to use it for a year. The "free" number is not available because I had ported a different one. So, I now have a Magicjack with service until 2016 and which I canot use because I have no phone number associated with it. They have a no refund policy. This was never stated when I purchased the product. Total misrepresentation and theft!...

My wife Kate works for a nonprofit organization in Canada, who uses MagicJack for their phone. During the last week of August she filled in on phone duties for someone who was on holidays. In order for her to be as mobile as possible I decided to install the MagicJack FreeCall app, on her iPhone and associate her iPhone / the FreeCall app with that account.
It worked great!! She was mobile and responsive.

My service was terminated due to violation of clause #6 "proper use" of the magicJack. This apparently takes place automatically without warning or review. Specifically, I was supposed to have violated the part of the policy that states: "...a customer whose usage is twenty (20) times more than the average magicJack and/or magicJack Plus device or magicJack APP customer usage, ..." I used my device to call mainly one person for an average call of about 90-110 minutes per day. Their advertising implies unlimited use of the device. No where on their website or literature do they give a value for this...

Had a MJack and worked fine. Then lost the device. Bought new one and have been on phone and internet chat for over 5 hours attempting to "fix" the issue. They will not offer a replacemtn and keep sending me links to "tweak" my machine that results in more problems with other programs. I say I doesn't work they transfer me to another person who says same thing.

I ordered a Magic Jack for my fax machine which the MJ company said it could be done. After porting my existing number to MJ the system did not work. After numerous chat messages with MJ and three weeks later, nothing was resolved to restore my phone number back to Cablevision. I finally had to get a new number. I should have realized that a phone service company that does not have a phone number is not a company to do business with. Stay away from MagicJack as they makepromises they cannot keep....

I have been using a magicjack for my phone service and I went to renew mu subscription today June 19 2012.
Entered all the info required and the first time it said it failed and so I followed all the steps again and it stated it failed again
but when I checked my bank account 2 payments had been paid and yet my service is still not working...Still states it is expired...

I purchased a MagicJack device, got a Texas phone number, paid 5 years in advance, and after a year they cut me off. They say I'm not using it enough and haven't used it for 90 days, so that's it. But I paid for it, whether I use it or not. And if you try to talk with someone, you can only type on their Live Chat on their website, so obviously they are not English, American, and have that heavy accent which no one but they can understand. I have recently purchased Magicjack plus. Their advertisement says it is equivalent to home phone number, we can even completely replace a landline or other VOIP line with Magicjack. I thought I can try this and see how the service works.

Major issues I face:

1) I use to do work from home few days and join the conference calls. Or sometime when we work late nights for production support we need to join conference calls. Magicjack not allowing to join any conference calls. It is ridiculous.
