LA Fitness International LA Fitness Hyde Park Chicago Il

I was deceived into signing a personal training contract. I was shown two options, one for 6 months and $240 and the other for one year I believe. I requested 6 months though it was never explained or at all clear that this was $240/mo. When I required on why I was being charged a second month, they informed me that I had signed a 12-month contract for $240/mo! I was stunned and asked to see the contract. They had difficulty printing it out and when I saw it, it was clear to me that this was the first time I'd ever seen the page that said 12 months at $240/mo. I realized then that I was asked to sign an electronic signing pad which is apparent from the electronic signature. The actual page was not never shown to me. I had to initial in several places but I did not see the page being initialed since I was carrying it out on the signature pad. I was not concerned at that time because the Director and I had discussed what I requested in detail. I was deceived into signing a contract I never actually saw.

Not only did the Director hear me say 6 months, the associate working in the adjacent desk heard me say 6 months.

Claimed loss: 6 months $240/mo

Desired outcome: I would like to have my contract reduced to 6 months

LA Fitness International 12 month training contract

I was laid off my job, April 27, 2023. I had been there for 10 years. I had no idea I was going to lose my job. I realized I signed a contract, which I intended to honor. I no longer have the funds to continue paying $360.00 a month. My unemployment check is $500.00 per week. I am asking that my contract be cancelled on a hardship basis. This is out of my control and losing my job is not something I can control.

I can no longer afford this payment.

Desired outcome: I would like to have the contract cancelled as a hardship.

LA Fitness International Cleanliness

Both LA Fitness locations in Conyers and McDonough, GA are consistently in a filthy condition every morning when they open. With the different variations of the Covid arisen it would seem like your establishment would have a higher focus on cleanliness and germ/virus mitigation. I’ve been a loyal member of your fitness club for over 10years and I’m very disappointed in the lack of service that I’m receiving for the membership fees that I pay monthly.

Desired outcome: Consistent cleaning service and disinfecting of the equipment and locker room facilities in order to feel safe during usage and in order to feel that I’m getting my monies worth.

LA Fitness International Parking lot over run by church members throughout the week and on Sunday our parking lot is unusable for members

The Chino location has its own specific parking lot and is not shared with anybody yet it's overrun by the surrounding church that completely takes up all of the members parking in the front and the rear of LA fitness. Christian is the manager through the week and on the weekends nobody is here to enforce or stand out there and make sure the church does not over run our parking lot. I just drove through there for 20 minutes and could not get a parking spot to go into work out for membership and I'm paying for for my wife in grandson. This really sucks

Desired outcome: Stop allowing the church to overrun our parking lot we're members cannot workout

LA Fitness International Membership and services

I joint this gym back in January and on the same month I called corporate to make a complain because they were closing the gym an hour before and I was not getting the trainer I contracted he was busy or he had others in front of me. So I cancel my membership not even a month into joining well LA fitness decided to charge me after I left over $700 dollars in charges for not going and not receiving any training. These people are crooks for real. I did talk to the manager Renato and he told me that he could not do anything and laugh is all he did.

LA Fitness International Very unprofessional

I currently have Health Insurance and was able to join a Gym. After searching different gyms we decided on LA.

It was 20 mile drive one way, but after speaking to to the young lady Lindsey who told us that the Corporate would be building one closer to us either in Rockwall or Forney my sister and I decided to join LA Fitness.

That was Monday May 8th, Lindsey then set us up for weight in, measurements and to show us how the machines work for that Wednesday at 10.

So we drove over and got to our appointment. We checked in, we were there a little while waiting for her. Finally ask the guy who was setting over at the desk. He said oh, Lindsey hurt her back and will have to reschedule. I said it would have been nice to got a text so we didn’t make this unnecessary drive. He said oh it was late yesterday.

So he set us both for an appointment on Friday at 10. I nor my sister ever looked at emails. Will about 8 am Friday I just happened to looked at mine and noticed they had set the time of my appointment for 9. I told my sister and she looked at hers it was for 8am.

So we drove back over and got there about 8 minutes to nine, checked in and waited. About 10 minutes after 9 went to desk and told him we have appointment. He said just have a seat. There was some girl (not the same one we signed up with) came strolling thru looking half asleep. She went over to one of those desk sit down and started strolling thru her phone, we waited another 5-7 minutes went up to the desk and told them we wanted to cancel the membership. Another girl back there pulled up the account and said you don’t have to cancel since it’s thru your health insurance. So nonchalant and not seeming to care one way or another.

Never in my time have I ever seen such unprofessional behavior. Very disappointing. We drove and wasted time and gas driving that far to get treated like that,

I was a member at La fitness over in Garland years ago very helpful and nice. Never had any problems there.

I will be finding another gym and will not recommend that particular gym at all.

PS: it appears that Lindsey just called and left a message on my phone to set up another appointment. I won’t be wasting my time to go back all that distance.

LA Fitness International LA Fitness membership charges after cancellation

LA Fitness was placing unauthorized charges to my credit card after two attempts to cancel the service. Here are the details;

In October 2021 I cancelled LA Fitness member membership ($24.99/month). About 5 months later I realized they kept charging me $24.99 per month. I went to their office (March 2022), they reimbursed me for five months, and I was told that they will stop charging, and my membership is cancelled.

I realized a few days ago (Apr 25 2023) that they kept charging my CC $24.99 per month. I did talk to them on Apr-29 2023. I was told that the account was "frozen" in March-22 which is different from closing it, and they can’t reimburse me.

My request to cancel the service and stop charging me was clear. The did reimburse me for 5 months. I have never used their services since the original cancellation in October 2021. The manager’s name was Diane from Broomall PA. I dop not know here last name.

Desired outcome: I would like to get reimbursed ($373.87) to the months I did not give them permission toc charge my CC.

LA Fitness International Kirkland WA very very crowded

This gym has way too many members. Between 3:30 pm to 6:30pm, it is impossible to find a parking spot in most days. Inside the gym, these are Mondays are packed to the point that people stand around you, waiting for you to stop exercising. Other days are less packed, but still very busy. Fixing equipment takes a long time. Sometimes months! There is no one at management that cares about complaints. The general manager prefers to sell memberships than to manage the place. I don't know if he wants to collect commission but some of his sale agents are sitting playing with their phones but he is getting new members to register.

Desired outcome: New management is needed.

LA Fitness International Pool

To whom it may concern. I have been on and off a member in LA Fitness since 2014. While the equipment usually is well maintained, the pool, hot tub and its area is degrading in quality. The paint is chipping in the pool and around the pool. The doors are rusting/rotting. The water fountains are clearly damaged/rusting. Talking to members who are there 6 times a week for over 15 years confirmed, they never saw anybody properly clean the pool. The grout is dirty and most likely moldy in several areas. There are chipped tile pieces in several areas. Dry wall "recently" got damaged/corrected and ever since was not painted. The drain in the pool is dirty, rusty. There are countless damages around the pool that screams this place is rundown.

I am sure LA Fitness had a lot of expenses to deal with and wants to remain profitable. I also understand if your staff does not communicate the issues you cannot see them personally in every location. However with my experience in Corporate I assume you do have or should have a representative of corporate who will assess each location every few years to ensure quality and standards are what you want/expect it to be. Even if you cannot budget a representative to evaluate the cleanliness of the space in person, I am confident you request pictures of damaged equipment. Maybe you can add the pool to this report.

Desired outcome: The pool and its area needs to be properly cleaned, repaired and painted to ensure clean and welcoming environment.

LA Fitness International Payment and PT

When I meet the PT Director, he told me that I would have a meal plan, that my PT would show me how to use an app to measure calories, and that I would also have a list of exercises for the solo session.

My Training with PT began in December 2022. However, she missed nearly 3 weeks of class during the first month due to illness, and she subsequently neglected to mention this. (which I think have to check again). Also sometimes she wants to cancel the session, but she is telling me at 5:30 PM. We scheduled our session for 5:30 PM O_o. I didn't receive any of the things I mentioned above.

I paid for my PT $440 monthly. I am paying for nothing for the whole 4 months now for nothing.

Desired outcome: please refund all my money back

LA Fitness International LA Fitness Won't Stop Calling Me

I had an LA Fitness membership back when my father was still alive and canceled it when he passed in 2017. All of a sudden, I'm getting an alarming amount of phone calls from LA Fitness from various phone numbers and there's no one there when I pick up. This has been going on since January 2023 and the amount of phone calls has increased to the point of three calls within an hour this morning (March 9, 2023). This is made especially distressing by the fact I am reminded of my late father since LA Fitness was a place we went to together. This needs to stop. There is no way this is legal. I owe you nothing. I have no debt with LA Fitness.

Desired outcome: Please just leave me alone. Lose my number. Never contact me again.

LA Fitness International poorly maintained facility LA Fitness Downingtown PA

The LA fitness in Downingtown PA has been closed for the past 10. days for a so-called remodel. It opened back up today. After going back to the facility today, it seems like all that was done was a new floor put in, and all the machines moved around. We still have 15 pieces of equipment on the floor with out of service notes on them, this is ridiculous, the aerobic equipment that works is all falling apart also. Will this gym ever get this fixed? We have 2 squat racks in this location, other smaller LA fitness in the area have 3 or 4 squat racks, these are always being used we've all complained to management about this but nothing changes. The other LA fitness clubs in the area all got some new equipment when their floor remodel was done, we are still using the same equipment that was here at the opening of the club. Does LA fitness not care about its members? Will anything ever improve at this club?

Desired outcome: Fix/replace the constantly broken equipment, get some new equipment.

LA Fitness International Service not provided due to poorly maintained facility

The Clearwater locations seem to have a poor history of maintaining the Pool, Spa & Suna, which results in these amenities, which we as member paid extra for. The failure or lack of concern with the Clearwater Management places a burden on all members who utilize these amenities. For example the East Bay location spa was down for over 3 months. The Missouri Ave location, South Largo, & Pam Harbour has also had it fair share of excessive down time.

multi emails are sent to [protected]@lafitness.com with ZERO response.

I cant understand why these Claerwater FL locations are not better managed, much like your Dallas Texas location, Indian polis Indian location & Cincinnati Ohio locations.

As of today, your Palm Harbour location Spa has been down for 4 days and now the Suna is down. The members inside the club joke about how bad it is and the reason for tis is due to the fact the GM fired the person who maintained the equipment, which now has a direct effect on us the paying members.

Desired outcome: Get your Clearwater FL up to speed and get the equipment working and maintain the equipment. Its very simple process

LA Fitness International Lack Of Security

Hello all:

On January 16th, 2023, there’s was an incident that happen at your La Fitness Clifton location where we are pursuing legal action against your cooperation and Manager Darryl Burns.

On January 16, 2023, our son {Christian} was Jumped by a gang of hoodlums while spectating a dispute that occurred on the basketball court with his friend and the instigators. The gang of adults jumped by son which caused a laceration on his eyes and ears.

Upon Notifying Darryl of what just occurred he basically blamed by son for what happened. He didn’t provide any support whatsoever. The way he was acting, I personally believe he knew the perpetrator.

LA Fitness International Aquatic Services at the College Park facility 6385 Old National Hwy 30349

I have a complaint regarding the: College Park facility 6385 Old National Hwy

30349. The Pool has been out of service since December 23, 2022. I have called every week and there has been no progress. This week I have been told they are fixing it as we speak. I have been told that the last 4 days. Today I was told it is still out of service. The facility where the pool is, is filthy. The jacuzzi was down prior for about 2 weeks. There is always trash around the jacuzzi and

it needs to be repainted. I have been to other facilities in other states, and they are in much better condition.

Desired outcome: The pool back in service the area cleaned every day. The jacuzzi repainted. Would like to see all of this done in a timely manner.

LA Fitness International "training" — fraudulent charges, harassment, breach of promise for services

Last year, the local LA Fitness "club" advertised they were splitting off from the LA Fitness brand due to a deserved, poor reputation. They charged me a duplicate enrollment fee to join this "new" gym. The name was never changed. They did subsequently replace the management and retained only one legacy "trainer." No refunds for the duplicate charges. I quit the local LA Fitness "club" due to all of the problems and poor treatment I and others had regularly received prior to the installation of the new and supposedly improved management team

I have been in constant pain for some time. The LA Fitness "club" is the only one near to me with a pool. I was having difficulty getting there as I still felt uncomfortable due to the past poor treatment. I thought "training" might help. I did not until recently learn the pain is likely a direct or indirect result of cancer.

A salesman who called himself "Jett" posed as a trainer to show the expected training that could be expected if one pays $230/month for 3 25 minutes sessions, that did not last that long for the majority of the sessions for which I was charged and actually did get — only two of those sessions were of the promised quality. The salesman tried to push me toward the legacy trainer. I balked and was told I could be allowed to try both trainers. I chose the new trainer who actually trained me on two occasions. The legacy trainer was angry and made it uncomfortable to be in the gym — for example glaring at me from across the room, walking too close when I was there or asking my trainer to talk with her before my sessions were done.

My trainer ended up quitting. The legacy trainer was still angry. I had to hear about the 5:30 not showing up, I had to count my own reps. "Training" consisted of putting a pin in one of the machines and walking away or talking while I was supposed to be getting "training." I was still getting charged and no one would address my complaint. I DROVE TO ANOTHER CITY to try to get the service I had already paid for that month. The trainer did not show up. Once again, numerous phone calls, texts and emails, except one, were ignored. I got a response that they could not help me but someone would contact me. Of course, no one did.

On the advice of two attorneys, I canceled the credit card I had since 1995 to great hardship to me and my legitimate creditors. Almost immediately I was bombarded with texts, phone calls and emails. Some of these are subtly threatening. Some offer "help" with billing. All that prior begging for help and nothing. They want my money and don't give a damn that I already paid for services I did not get. They froze my membership and continue to charge me for monthly future trainings. I am getting penalties put on my account.

I have emailed "leaders" with no response. Never once has anyone offered to address the fraudulent charges but the harassment over trying to get ahold of more of my money continues.

What I find a bit ironic is, that with the cancer, I may be spending some of my last moments on the planet being harassed and ripped off by a "health" club.

Desired outcome: I want the harassment, threats, accrual of future charges with penalties to stop immediately. They breached whatever contract existed (never got a copy despite multiple written requests). I want them to leave me alone.

Well none of these charges or accusations surprise ANY of us who worked at LA Fitness Pompano Beach , FL or Hollywood, FL

It may come as a huge surprise to you that Fitness International, the parent LLC of LA Fitness , has a General Manager named Joan Vento , when she was at their Hollywood location she started with her RACIST remarks against Black people in general..

For example saying “ they are All on Food Stamps and welfare”

Or

“ oh now I have to hand out basketballs to them “ Allegedly these comments were made when she was the General Manager in Hollywood, Florida. Yes employees and members complained to Corporate and Human Resources, what did Hunan Resources do ?Absolutely Nothing!

As a physician, this truly shocks me, in my profession or in any profession , yes sometimes you might form an opinion of someone, however certain things you just never 👎 speak about in Sny place of business.

Now back to General Manager Ms. Vento again, fir sone reason she left the company in 2020, subsequently she was hired by Crunch Gym , well as we all know once a racist , always a racist.

She did not last there long. An inquiry was made to Crunch Gym in Tamarac , Fl regarding Ms. Vento’s employment and the reason for her separation, in most places of business, you simply say “ she’s no longer with the company “

However , the individual we spoke with revealed that she was spreading racial negative comment about Afro Americans and that’s the reason “ Allegedly “ she was let go from Crunch .

Further investigation into General Manager Joan Vento and we find out that she is re- hired by LA Fitness , and went on sone type of binge tangent spewing all types or negative racial comments again about African Americans,( yes the people that pay her these huge commission checks! In addition, she went out of her way create further chaos in the Pompano Beach location. That’s when she met “ allegedly “ this one employee that told her” you’re a racist , I’m reporting yiu ti Hunan Resources “

That employee sent multiple emails ti Humsn Resources about her racist and sexual orientation comments to Hunan Resources and again the Human Resources W told the employee “ we will look into it, and address her behavior with the appropriate HR individuals.

Again nothing happened to her , all of the Managers and VP’s in the entire area had the opportunity to exercise their options for corrective action, investigating the “ alleged “ racist and sexual orientation remarks, nothing was done whatsoever, they completely just green lighted her behavior, and she’s still doing it as of today Feb 20, 2023 !

They are protecting her fir some unknown reason ( you can easily figure out why)

Then subsequent to the employees that reported her Racist behavior and remarks to Human Resources were let go / terminated/ fired .!

She even stated a smear campaign of slanderous, defamatory emails to Human Resources, to which the Operations Manager told her to stop send fake/ lies to Human Resources about my employees, because what you’re sending via email to Human Resources doesn’t match up with the video footage from the Front Desk! So you are lying and You ( Joan Vento ) are going to cost the company a lot of money because what you’re doing is “illegal “ !

The emails continued , HR was again made aware numerous times of her racist behavior and sexual orientation comments,

Again they (?Human Resources) didn’t do anything, they never tried to correct her behavior to even at least ATTEMPT to find out why she “ hated the entire front desk staff, said they were useless, accused them of not sending her membership inquiries.

It is so tense here , ti work with her , they even have a doorbell type button to alert Her that she has a potential sake, she further accused us of NOT ringing the bell for her ! We ring that bell so many times just to make sure she sells Memberships, and she still lies on us and makes false statements to Hunan Resources, even worse, when she hires a new employee fir sales, she lies to them to , “ overstating a potential earning or salary is totally illegal “

Yiu can say “ there’s is the potential to make this amount but to be transparent, yet it can get better”. That’s completely false, that’s why she can’t keep an employee fir more than a month, one lasted 10 minutes, sone just walk out the door because they are smart enough to see through her lies!

She even had one employee fired for simply doing his job, This employee didn’t even need to work there, so he went and filed formal chat against her , the company, has at least 3 Attorneys and some other individuals that are very high up , the Department big Justice, which oversees the EEOC , that’s Federal!

A lot of the employees hate even more now than they did before, because of what she did by having that guy fired !

Members were literally asking bus what happened to ———? They never 👎 told us what to say or anything!

Members ( lots of them are upset and even are working with him if he needs them but , apparently, when I last spoke with him , he said “ thank you but they don’t need any sworn affidavits at this time , but over 20 ex and current employees told him “ we are here fir you , I spoke with him yesterday, and there’s now a serious something going on with his stomach and his Dr. Who’s been in the loop since Ms. Vento started slandering, harassing him, defaming him , that he has to undergo a serious stomach operation soon, and. LA Fitness allows her to continue being under their employ , he said another employee sent him an email threatening him.

She still works there! So is is alll smoke and mirrors at LA Fitness , I hate going to work their but at least I’m not in her department..

I mean nobody is happy here, we all just act, until we find better jobs, But the question remains why are they allowing her illegal behavior?

They know it’s illegal behavior, but I’m thinking that they are just going to let the government entities instruct them on how to legally get rid of her , or u heard they could be slapped with daily compounding accumulating daily fines until they adhere to their decision and findings , I believe at that point , no one can protect her.

LA Fitness International Duplicate charge on a cancelled membership

In 2017, I requested cancellation of membership from my account. At that point my friend was separated into her own account and I was no longer charged. Recently, I checked my bank account to see that there had been duplicate charges occurring since the reopening post Covid. I reached out to customer service and they sent me notice of cancellation but refuse to refund my account. I’m extremely frustrated and about to file a small claims in court. I have documentation in writing requesting the cancellation back in 2017. It was confirmed that there was a separation of membership at that point. I should not be charged for someone else’s fees

LA Fitness International City sports sales

Israel falsely put me into a 12-month contract after I asked for a month-to-month and then told me a downgrade is available. 2 months later I ask to downgrade (which I was told is actually no longer available) and I was informed of my 12-month contract that I did not knowledgeably consent to. While continuously experiencing disgusting stares from the staff, continuous interruptions from staff during my workout to "say hi" or "check-in" is disturbing and uncomfortable. Then after an emergency move due to the inability of my residence, I am no longer within 20-mile radius of city sports, and submitted the appropriate billing with address for cancellation. Then confirmed in person twice with the Personal Training Director and Sales, AND my own trainer confirmed my cancellation as well. To then be charged $300 I did not consent to, unauthorized. Then proceed to call the gym 4 times, recieve no information, told I was going to be called back. Then recieve no call and an incompetent front desk staff who was overstepping their pay grade with rude and inconsistent managerial information. Which was disrespectful and unhelpful. Sunnyvale City sports is disgusting production with harassment and lies throughout the walls.

Desired outcome: Refund my money and fire the staff of Arques City sports, EXCEPT JESS MY PAST TRAINER

LA Fitness International Rewards Program

It is a scam.. been waiting over a year now for rewards from family members whom have joined under me..

First it took multiple attempts to reach anyone and then LA Fitness gives me excuses that it was not done properly when the members joined. Even though the process was followed as per their on-line referral program...They then promise to provide you with items to which you rewards would account for but tell me its on back-order with no lead times.. Still waiting 6 months from that point and no further response from additional Inquiries.

LA Fitness International Training Services

At the Hyde Park - Chicago location, I signed up for a trainer as working out on my own wasn't having the desired effect. In the course of the year, I've had 10 different trainers - either they didn't sign up, weren't really interested in training anyone, didn't show up for the appointments or just left in the middle of them, quit or were fired. All the trainers quit at the same time recently because of the low pay.

I spoke with the training manager by phone and he told me that my contract ends in September and that would be the last payment from my acct. This morning I got a low balance notice from my acct due to their taking out a payment for the month of October. The manager told me that now they show my contract ends in November. Regardless, I have to come in and cancel the training sessions in person because if I don't they will just continue to bill me whether I want them to or not. They likely want me to come in to cancel in person so they can try and get me to sign up again.

The manager refused to work on this and I was told that I will not raise my voice to her - I wasn't shouting - and gave me the corporate number. She said that it ended in November and I had to go in and beg them in person to cancel my contract.

Desired outcome: The return of the latest $200 monthly payment and a partial refund of other monthly payments due to their lack of staff and lack of interest in providing the training I signed up for.

I got charged even when the trainer failed to show up. NO ONE HAS RESPONDED TO THE many, many emails, calls and texts i have sent about the harassment, fraudulent charges and failure to perform the promised service. The Wiz Kid salesman who posed as the example trainer has disappeared. He says he's no longer their manager, they say he is. I was promised in writer the contract 5 times, they are just messing with me-- broken promises as I now expect from LA Fitness. When I canceled my credit card i've had since 1995 at incredible hardship to me and my legitimate creditors on the advice of two lawyers, I immediately got dozens of harassing texts, calls, emails as well as offers to "help" resolve my billing issues.

Last year, they claimed they were changing their name to "esporta" fitness, likely due to their poor reputation. I got charged an additional entry fee. they never changed the name. there were no refunds

This business is horrific, their business practices a breach of good faith. I am pursuing every course of action i can find. It turns out, by the way, that the physical pains i have been experiencing may be related to cancer. I confirm the tentative dx this week. I have spent some of my last time on the planet being harassed and ripped off by a "health" club.

Yes, stay away from these people. they only want your money any way they can get it
