eHarmony - incompetent online dating service

This service is a complete waste of time and money. I met no one and "matches" were several hundred miles away. When I complained to the company they said I had to broaden my age requirement which was within 6 years of my own. Even the matches hundreds of miles away were of no interest. I was naive in signing up for a year, since it was the best value supposedly. Cost too much and no results bottom line. There are free sites that are much better....

eHarmony - Fraudulent claims and false advertising

eHarmony's advertising promises to match people with their "perfect match." This is a lie. I've been a member on and off for about 3 years and have NEVER been matched with anyone even remotely close to my interests. After finally ending my membership and choosing that I no longer wish to receive matches, they send messages stating that someone wants to communicate with me. When I log back in, I find that the member's profile is no longer active.

eHarmony uses unethical marketing and business practices. Customer service is pretty much non-existent,...

eHarmony - Fraud/deception

EHarmony sends matches that are not active/members of the site. I requested dates within do miles - I am getting matches sent to me that are 100's of miles away - when I contacted customer service I was told about the inactive members and the distance, their customer service told me this I have since requested a refund - they have gone silent...

eHarmony - Ontario, Toronto - steal your money and don't provide promised service

Posted: 2014-01-25 by    Anna Bella
Complaint Rating: 100 % with 1 votes
I purchased a 3-month subscription and clearly selected the NOT TO RENEW automatically option. Well, they ignored that and kept charging my credit card, which I didn’t discover until 2 months later. They offered to credit me one month’s charge, but if I wanted both I would have to formally write in, which I did. Also, I hardly got any matches sent to me. The couple of messages I did receive, when I tried to reply, they were suddenly gone, so they must have been phony. My emails and phone calls to them over some months were either ignored or dismissed, none of my concerns about their...

eHarmony - Won't let me cancel.

Posted: 2013-12-21 by    emberAZ
Complaint Rating: 100 % with 1 votes
I called to cancel and was told I had to email my problem and I would get a response in 7 days. I got a denial which was so mean I was amazed. It said I could not argue with them because the denial was final and I could do NOTHING. I wasn't asking for a refund, I was asking to cancel future subscription funds of $80.00. I am 70 years old, made a mistake and said I was very unhappy. They don't care, they only want the money. It's obnoxious....

eHarmony - appalling customer service

Do not want service. Was unaware I was on a renewal program as they kept advertising to extend my already unwanted and unused service - $9.90 for an extra month - which I did not take up. Even though I did not take this up I was slugged $119 for 3 months through the auto renewal process. MAKE SURE YOU ARE AWARE OF THIS and turn it off if you don't want it. I tried to contact eHarmony BEFORE the paypal transaction went through. Unfortunately it was a Sunday and they will not take calls on a Sunday. They are more than happy to take your money on a Sunday though. When I finally spoke to someone...

eHarmony - Tennessee, Knoxville - completely dissatisfied

Complaint Rating: 100 % with 1 votes
I have been on the site for a month. I am an attractive female, and only chose to try online dating because a friend (who had never used it) recommended it. My job has me mostly working alone, so it is sometimes difficult to meet men. Anyway, apparently according to the test, my compatible matches are never going to be attractive to me. An entire month went by and not one guy was even remotely attractive to me. I know that sounds ridiculous, and maybe it is, maybe it just means online dating is not for me. Maybe I have trouble having attraction to a picture and a profile. Either way I am not satisfied,...

eHarmony - eHarmony is a fraudulent scam.

Please warn all your friends NEVER to join eHarmony. If I could give them zero stars I would.

It is a dishonest company that cons their clientele into committing for three months to a year. Then after 2 weeks of sending people who live nearby, a vast majority of which are clearly not a match to you in any way, they begin to send only EMPTY profiles of people who live a 1000 miles away or absolute NON-matches. They give no way for the member to search their site, they choose your seven matches a day and only do so if you allow eHarmony to email you. These matches begin to repeat within...

eHarmony - Incorrectly took payment 3 days before subscription expired

Posted: 2013-08-26 by    LouiseS
Complaint Rating: 100 % with 1 votes
I signed up with eHarmony for 6 months. When signed up, chose NOT toautomatically renew.

Account due to expire 14th July but when I went on 11th July, realised they'd already taken further 6 month payment.

I contacted them and the just told me to read their terms and conditions. This states that they can renew up to 24 hours before due to expire - but this doesn't excuse taking payment £107 3 days before due.

They have since just ignored my e-mails. It seems very clear to me taht they have made a mistake - so why are they not refunding...

eHarmony - Western Australia - Geographically Challenged Searches

After being a member of eHarmony for over a year I did not make one single date!
The reason is simple & profoundly annoying:
As part of the search function, you can choose how far you wish to travel to meet with a potential date.
The settings are fixed in a selection box at 25km, 50km, 150km & 300km.

THEY DO NOT WORK!

I have consistently received 'matches' from over 400km away after selecting 25km or 50km.
I HAVE NOT received one single 'match' from less than 120km away.
One 'match' was over 600km away!

eHarmony - California, Santa Monica - AutoRenew

Posted: 2013-02-27 by    sstears
Complaint Rating: 100 % with 2 votes
Eharmony is a total rip off, they tell you they auto renew for the same amount of time you initially signed up for on the site. They tell you there is no way to turn off the auto renew, that you have to call and cancel. They only tell you you can turn off the auto renew until AFTER they auto renew your membership for another 6 months. We need a lawsuit against this. It's totally unfair that even after you call to cancel they will not refund you the amount of time you have let on the membership. How do they stay in business, they are criminals....

eHarmony - Eharmony- matches are NOT ACTIVE

Posted: 2012-05-13 by    Zoa
Complaint Rating: 100 % with 1 votes
I joined e harmony 3 months ago and I am CONVINCED now through pure CONCRETE KNOWLEDGE that 99% of all the male matches they sent me are NO LONGER ACTIVE (maybe a Free Weekend has given them staying in
Eharmony's unethical base).
How do I know? Of the about 200 men they've sent me, only 6 have clicked on my name.
And to further reduce the doubt in the typical question:
"Maybe they didn't like the way you look so that is the reason for lack of contact..."
This is not a valid argument, since NO PICTURE of the person appears initially. A...

Been with EharmonyUK for 3 weeks, and am getting new matches with people who haven't been active for weeks !, tell me how that can be even weeks later this is still happening. I am very dissillusioned. I am up to 250 potential matches, yet < 12 have actually viewed my profile ? Not that I expect a perfect match right away but these people are jsut not active, andpossibly not paid up or discontinued from what I am reading in complaints. Be warned. eHarmony - their right to play judge and jury or a person's status

I don't like this company or any company that sets itself up like this and behaves as this company does. Providing options on the site to state if you are married, separated or not. If you are separated you cannot join this site. But. this site should not be playing God over the status of others and should state this clearly (BEFORE YOU SPEND A WHOLE HOUR FILLING IN ALL THE QUESTIONS ON THE SITE). that the site is for single people only. So, if you are perfectly single e-harmony is for you. But God help you if you're not, cause you'll just be wasting your time. and you will not find...

eHarmony - Misleading advertisement

I requested closure to my account on your website and a refund of the remaining amount based on the $28.95/mo fee. I was trusting to allow a upfront payment of $173.00 that was sent in June and now being told my account can't be cancelled. I am told the account will stand until Dec 07.

I feel all of these things are misleading in that people are lead to believe the account can be cancelled at anytime and there is a monthly rate, when in fact there isn't. The way it is working is there is a 1 month rate, 3 month rate, 6 month rate, and a 12 month rate. There isn't really...

eHarmony - eharmony failed to provide a usable website but refuses to refund money

In March 2011 I re-signed up for eHarmony - a service that I had used successfully in the past. I purchased a 3 month membership, and was charged for the first month upfront (with an agreement to be billed monthly). I immediately attempted to update my profile, since some of my information was outdated - and was surprised to find that I couldn't make any changes at all. When I had been a member in the past, it was under a previous version of their webpage. The web pages either wouldn't load completely or would pretend to save changes, but nothing 'stuck'. I contacted customer...

They say it's based on 29 levels of compatibility and there are 10, 000 new members daily, well their definition is "flexible". It was insulted with whom they believed I was compatible with, as I am an educated women and they are sending me matches who can't complete a a written sentence. Most profiles weren't legitimate as they didn't even have pictures, and maybe one or two lines about themselves. Then because they didn't have enough members in my "guideline" criteria, they gave me "flex" matching, so I received matches 3 hours away from me...
