Budget Rent A Car review: Billing for too much time

I called Budget on Dec. 19, 2023 from Kingstree, SC to ask if someone could get the car because I had picked up my mom from a hospital near there and she was not allowed to drive her car. They said they would pick up my rental car at 200 S Jackson, Kingstree, SC, in front of the Williamsburg County Dentention Center. I was told i didn't have to stay with the car, that it would be picked up in 180 minutes.

When I got to Myrtle Beach, where my mom lives, I saw a message from the tow truck driver that he couldn't find the car. Then i received a call from the Escalation Department and told that I would be paying for the rental of each day they didn't have the car and any impound expenses. They were not going to ping the car. I said that wasn't right, I actually spoke to a police officer who said it was fine to leave the car there to be picked up. The customer service person said NO and that I would be paying. I called that department the next day, told the address and the phone number of the police detention center. That customer service person found out the car was still in front of the building and he had ordered a pick up that was coming in the next 6 mins, this was Dec. 21. Great, I thought, it was done.

On Jan 2 I received a call from the original tow truck driver that the car was still in Kingstree and he was going to pick it up. I couldn't believe it. The car had been sitting there for 14 days!

This car should have been picked up, I was told it was going to be on the 19th and it wasn't and then on the 20th or 21st and it wasn't.

I was billed for those 2 weeks that they didn't pick up the car! I should not be held responsible that the car was not picked up until Jan 2.
