On 3/15/23, I purchased two sofas from Baer's Furniture that were "special order" made by Century Furniture. Century Furniture is one of the brands Baer's offers at their stores. There were several Century sofa's on the showroom floor and I sat in them to determine cushion and fabric. There was a choice of fabric offered at the Century fabric display area, I selected one of them. The total for the two sofas is $14,335.06

I made two deposits: 3/15/23 $3316.27

6/05/23 $3851.26

Final payment before delivery was made 9/09/23 $7167.53

My expectation for the price I paid was high. I trusted Baer's Furniture as reputable long time family business to offer value I paid for.

The evening (number 9 and last delivery of the day) the sofas arrived I asked the driver why the sofas had vertical lines in the fabric. He replied the packaging tape was too tight and the lines would disappear by morning.

The driver called customer service, he told me it was routine for every delivery. The agent asked if I was pleased and I remarked about the lines in the sofas.

The next morning I sat on the sofas and additional lines appeared in the fabric as if it was not upholstered properly. The fabric seemed loose and the sofas are very uncomfortable to sit on. There is zero support in the cushions.

The fabric is lumpy.

I called customer service the following day after delivery 9/16/23 and the agent made appointment for service person to come to my home.

Mitch from Baer's arrived 9/22 and suggested a different cushion for the sofas.

I replied I was not happy with the lines in the fabric and worry any "fix" might result with the problem continuing a month later or sooner.

I do not want retrofit sofas for the money I paid. I did not purchase from a consignment shop. I paid $14, 335.06

I sent text and spoke to the salesperson and she agreed the sofa did not look good and does not look like the sofa on display in the showroom.

I sent email to assistant manager and manager Ms Haubernstock and Mr Hughes.. The next day I called the store and left voice mail for Mr Hughes the manager. Mr Hughes returned my call later that day (9/23) and told me he viewed photos of the sofa and could see nothing wrong with them. He said that's how it should look but then said the fabric might be too thick for the sofa.

If the fabric is too thick for the sofa then why was it offered to me to select from? Why didn't the Century Furniture workshop call and ask me to select a different fabric? Mr Hughes said I selected the fabric and he will not take back for refund.

These sofas are very uncomfortable to sit on. They look like they are 10 plus years old with sagging fabric. I paid for top quality not a repaired sofa.

I do not want retrofit sofas. i want them returned to the store and reimbursement.

I called the credit card company and they have temporarily reversed the charges.

My Hughes told me he would send photos to Century Furniture for their assessment but they would not be able to be returned.

I kept my part of the business transaction and paid prior to delivery. My expectation of well built sofas with appropriate fabric were not met. Baer's and Century Furniture are attempting to unload these damaged or potentially retrofit sofas on me. Not fair to me. Not honest. I am asking for Baer's to support me as their customer and take the matter up with the manufacturer for reimbursement not a potentially temporary fix. These sofas will always have the same issue as was suggested by the store manager, the fabric is too thick or damaged from too tight packaging tape.

I had the sofas moved to the side of the living room and are not using them.

Instead I am using my outdoor furniture to sit on.

I would like these sofas removed from my home as soon as possible.

I will never be satisfied with repaired sofas. I did not pay for retrofit sofas.

I am 74 year old woman and feel I am being bamboozled by Baer's Furniture.

I need your help.
